Over the years, thousands of students had asked for a practical technique by which to remove the inner blocks to happiness, love, joy, success, health, and, ultimately, Enlightenment. This book provides a mechanism for letting go of those blocks. The mechanism of surrender that Dr. Hawkins describes can be done in the midst of everyday life." Find Letting Go on Amazon Dig it? Rise to Thrive Episode 31: Healing Complex Trauma Irene is no stranger to pain and trauma. As a teenage girl, her mother became very ill, and she had to navigate the agony of losing her mom to cancer at the tender age of 14. As she grew older, addiction, self-harm, anxiety and depression experience led her to the question of “what does unprocessed grief look like?” Irene eventually found yoga as a tool to meet energy where it’s at and replace some of her more unhealthy coping mechanisms. In this episode, we talk about what trauma really is, how the nervous system behaves, why generational trauma is absolutely affecting you, the interplay of power dynamics and politics with trauma, and how yogic tools can help us move towards physical, emotional, and spiritual liberation.  In this episode you'll hear:   Redefining trauma and understanding it’s symptoms Why you have social anxiety (and you’re not alone) Differentiating between coping mechanisms and actual healing Ways to calm your vagus nerve and nervous systems  Tuning into interoception: How are you in your body? Trauma & self-protection vs. numbing out  Why slowing down and finding pleasure can heal you Unlearning the “harder better faster stronger” social constructs Creating a toolbox for healing: breath, orgasm, journaling sprints + more Connect with Irene for a free trauma healing consult: https://www.irenemorning.com/ RTT Book Club Selection: Pleasure Activism "Pleasure Activism" is a book about the politics of healing and happiness that explodes the dour myth that changing the world is just another form of work. Drawing on the black feminist tradition, she challenges us to rethink the ground rules of activism. Her mindset-altering essays are interwoven with conversations and insights from other feminist thinkers and cover a wide array of subjects—from sex work to climate change, from race and gender to sex and drugs—building new narratives about how politics can feel good and how what feels good always has a complex politics of its own. Rise to Thrive Episode 29: Say It Real with Naia Kete This episode is a must listen for all artists and creative female entrepreneurs. Naia Kete, gifted lead singer, song writer & producer, champion & advocate for equality, and women’s empowerment coach, shares her story of her rise in music. Raised by a conscious mother who helped to raise her to take responsibility for her joy, Naia’s focus on empowering women and social justice motivated her to move California and create a movement to help people through music. Over the years, Naia lost herself in the hustle of Hollywood, dealt with the challenges of gaining weight as a performing artist, experienced the rise and fall of quick fame as a contestant on The Voice, and finally realized that alignment would never come from the LA lifestyle and “making it” as a celebrity: it had to come from within her. Today, Naia owns her voice and message and empowers women to cultivate creativity through wellness, embodiment and navigate seasons of life with ease and grace. In this episode, you’ll hear: How to align with truth Why movement is essential for divine connection Vaginas and empowerment, what every chick needs to know Ways to access creative flow How to hack your nervous system How to overcome challenges of being an entrepreneurial artist  Download SayReal’s New Song: All My Sisters Follow Naia on Instagram RTT Book Club Selection 1: Red Tent Her name is Dinah. In the Bible, her life is only hinted at in a brief and violent detour within the more familiar chapters of the Book of Genesis that tell of her father, Jacob, and his twelve sons. Told in Dinah's voice, Anita Diamant imagines the traditions and turmoils of ancient womanhood--the world of the red tent. It begins with the story of the mothers--Leah, Rachel, Zilpah, and Bilhah--the four wives of Jacob. They love Dinah and give her gifts that sustain her through childhood, a calling to midwifery, and a new home in a foreign land. Dinah's story reaches out from a remarkable period of early history and creates an intimate connection with the past. Rise to Thrive Episode 23: High Vibes "The illegality of cannabis is outrageous, an impediment to full utilization of a drug which helps produce the serenity and insight, sensitivity and fellowship so desperately needed in this increasingly mad and dangerous world." —Carl Sagan Weed, man. Some people love it, some people love to hate it. Haters aside, we dive into the recreational and therapeutic uses of hemp and cannabis. What's the difference? How do the active compounds, CBD & THC, compare, and which one is more fun?  In all seriousness, cannabis has been used for thousands of years for medicinal, spiritual, and recreational purposes and we're pulling back the curtain of the stoner closet to admit that we think weed is pretty groovy, dude.  We chat about how marijuana can improve your sex life, spiritual connection, and creativity - as well as discuss the criminalization of pot and times when it may be better to steer clear of stoneyville.  Whether you love to inhale or have never tried Mary Jane, have a listen, maybe have a toke, and have some fun with us as we marinate in these high vibes. Next time, we're bringing weed gummies.  RTT Book Club Selection: High Times Cookbook "This first-ever cookbook from High Times magazine—the world's most trusted name when it comes to getting stoned—is the deliciously definitive guide to cannabis-infused cooking. Rise to Thrive Episode 19: Permission to Explore Curiosity is part of our DNA. It's the innate aspect of our intelligence which drives inquiry and has led to illumination of mankind through philosophy, art, and science.  When we approach life through a lens of curiosity, magic happens - it opens us up to benefits and blessings which we may not have even been aware of before we gave ourselves permission to explore.  Permission to explore extends beyond mixing up what you're gonna eat for lunch that day - beyond shaking things up in the bedroom (though we're all for that, too) and encompasses your willingness to release expectation, embrace uncertainty, and try new things.  In this episode we'll share our own experience with and resistance to exploration, how to cultivate curiosity and follow it toward your passions, and find more exploration in all aspects of your life.  RTT Book Club Selection Tune In By Sonia Choquette "This invaluable book instructs seekers at all stages of their spiritual journeys how to directly tune in to their intuition. Rise to Thrive Episode 13 | Watch Your Language Language makes meaning. What we think and how we speak shapes our experience and perception of life. Across cultures, traditions and philosophies, the subtle vibration of thought and the power of words (both written and spoken) are recognized as arguable the MOST powerful aspects of what unfolds for us.  Wayne Dyer explains it like this: "Throughout life you’ve been through a conditioning process that’s created a mind-set overflowing with I am nots. As a schoolchild with a less than satisfactory grade on your report card, you thought to yourself, I am not smart. You place anywhere other than number one and say, I am not talented. You feel criticized and believe that I am not good. You look in the mirror and compare yourself to a glamorous movie idol or homecoming queen and tell yourself, I am not attractive. Your relationship fractures and you think, I am unloved or I am unworthy. These, and many more like them, are repeated throughout your developmental years and into adulthood, and become your core defining self-concept... Make the shift in your imagination from an I am not or I am hoping to become to I am. You want what follows I am to be congruent with your highest self, which is God. Beginning with your inner dialogue, simply change the words that define your concept of yourself. Redefine your self-concept by choosing the words that you opt to place into your imagination. Try this rewording of your inner world as a beginning step to accessing the assistance of your higher self and fulfilling your desires." Whoa. Mind. Blown. For us (hey! Linda & Amelia here!), harnessing the power of language has created dramatic positive shifts in our lives. By fearlessly declaring (even before evidence) the experience we desire, we effectively call it into being.  We dare you to write an honest letter to yourself of the most common "I am not" statements that you have on repeat - then rewrite it with "I am" statements. Slap those bad boys on some post-it notes and stick them EVERYWHERE! Repeat affirmations daily and watch your life change.  STAY CONNECTED Rise to Thrive IG: instagram.com/risetothrivepodcast Amelia’s IG: instagram.com/stoked_yogi Linda’s IG: instagram.com/lilalife.co

For many of us, what first comes to mind is a sense of conviction over what we actually put in our bodies. Nourishment is often correlated with food - but there are so many other ways of nourishing ourselves.  What we eat, drink, speak, listen to, watch, and who we surround ourselves with are all ways that we can choose to nourish our bodies. We're nourished not just on the physical level, but also mental, emotional, and spiritual planes.  If you've ever struggled with body image, diet, or nutrition - this episode is for you. Our search for nourishment - every craving, desire, and impulse - is actually rooted in feeling. We try to medicate or heal emotional problems on the physical level, but underneath surface level hungers are deeper hungers and voids we are trying to fill. Rise to Thrive Episode 7: Hi Amelia! This shit gets personal. Want to feel better about your own life? Have a listen to this episode to remember that we are all broken - and we are all whole. In episode 7, Amelia opens up about the life challenges that led to her current path and purpose as a coach and conscious entrepreneur. She also shares some sage life advice for how to get through the rocky times and rise up on the other side of them. At 14, her parents divorce rocked the house and sent Amelia reeling into an adolescence of toxic relationships, alcohol and drug abuse.  At 21, bailing on a long time abusive relationship sent her across the country and into a downward spiral of substance abuse and shopping addiction. Without resources, she turned to a sugar baby lifestyle to pay the bills. At 23, a spiritual awakening and her fathers impending death shifted everything. Going from a life of champagne and cocaine to one of sand, surf, salt, and business success was (and is) a wild and bumpy road.  Have a listen and get to know Amelia a little better.
