Over ten years ago, pioneering nutritionist Ann Louise Gittleman wrote a groundbreaking book called “Zapped: Why Your Cell Phone Shouldn't Be Your Alarm Clock and 1,268 Ways to Outsmart the Hazards of Electronic Pollution.” At that time, she had her own home mitigated for EMFs and environmental toxins. She recently decided to invite Brian Hoyer, a leading EMF mitigation specialist, to update and access any new findings. Interestingly enough, Brian's findings were jaw dropping for Ann Louise and family. While the house was fairly clean environmentally, the only issue that was a red flag was the bedroom window where there were strong EMF emissions from a radio tower across the river where Ann Louise's house is built. The EMF emissions registered extremely hazardous on Brian's scale and were known to incite oxidative stress, issues with neurotransmitters, and blood brain barrier leaks. Needless to say, with Ann Louise's history of a concussion and a traumatic brain injury, this was a huge aha moment! Join Ann Louise and Brian Hoyer as they delve into a fascinating discussion, covering topics such as EMF shielding and its importance, the negative effects of EMF exposure, the need for a healing environment, dealing with 'dirty electricity', controlling EMF exposure, and most crucially, how to shield oneself while sleeping. After extensively testing homes for EMF around the country, Brian established Shielded Healing in 2017. The aim of his team is to help modern society recreate electromagnetic environments that closely resemble historic human habitats. Brian works closely with functional medicine doctors, hospitals, and clinics worldwide, providing EMF shielding solutions and building protocols to reduce patient EMF exposure. The First Lady of Nutrition welcomes intermittent fasting coach and author, Laurie Lewis. For Laurie, menopause dealt a crushing blow -- brain fog, lack of balance, memory loss, and the sudden gain of 50 pounds of stubborn hormonal fat. She tried everything she knew to feel better, and the methods that worked in the past made no difference. After four years of struggle, Laurie stumbled upon intermittent fasting and started fasting that very same day. The menopausal fog lifted in less than one week, she had more energy and felt more “like herself,” and lost 51 pounds in 15 months which she has kept it off for years! Join Ann Louise and Laurie Lewis as they discuss how intermittent fasting, or time restricted eating, is simply a pattern of eating and not eating, and how taking a conscious pause from eating allows the body a much-needed healing rest for the gut, organs, brain, blood, and hormones. It's the digestive, hormonal, and metabolic rest our bodies require and the opportunity for our hormones to balance and function optimally.  According to Lewis, the good news is that whether you're a woman in your 40s, 50s, 60s, or beyond, intermittent fasting can make a huge difference not just for weight loss, but for the autophagy (deep cellular repair), gut health benefits, and mental clarity that comes with time restricted eating. They may occur alongside other conditions like PANS, PANDAS, ADD, and autism. In today's episode with Maria Rickert Hong, we'll be diving into learning and discussing more about sensory processing disorder and how we could resolve it through natural means. What makes us suspend belief and put the fire in our belly?Maria has a son who had many health issues and they weren't getting good responses from his pediatricians. Her son also had sensory issues that hit him when he was about three years old and which prompted them to seek more help. However, the doctors tend to provide several different medications. Her awakening moment was when she had her own health problems while taking care of her son who would wake up five or six times a night, go to her room, and wake her up. She developed severe adrenal fatigue and had hormonal-related problems. Upon searching for natural sleep remedies, she came across a book of a nutritionist author, Ann Louise Gittleman, entitled Before the Change: Taking Charge of Your Perimenopause. In the book, Gittleman offers a wide range of options for taking care of yourself which helped Maria a lot.Cutting out the dairy for Maria's son.Cutting out the dairy made quite an impact on Maria's son. Her son's asthma, constipation, allergies, eczema, and sensory issues all got better.Maria started using a cookbook that offers kid-friendly recipes and they're mostly gluten-free and dairy-free. It also has other potential allergens that kids could be sensitive to. Maria got into cooking and kept going from there. You have to do diet, you have to eat.Nobody wants to hear it but you have to diet. You don't have to instantly shift to doing an extreme diet. Like what I always tell my clients, let's do some minor things if we can. And if we can't, we wait until we calm the brain first and then, we start stripping it down. Many choose that option because they're in a crisis which is totally understandable. You gotta do triage first. However, people should always keep in mind how impactful a diet is. And I think once people realize how beneficial it is, they'll be more motivated to continue with it. In an interview with Dr. Terry Wahls conducted by Maria, she learned that Dr. Wahls has recovered herself from secondary progressive multiple sclerosis. In fact, Dr. Wahls was already told that there was nothing the doctors could do except medications. Fortunately, Dr. Wahls discovered functional medicine and tweaked her paleo diet to get all the nutrients that are helpful for mitochondrial function. Now, you can't tell she's had multiple sclerosis; she's fully mobile.Neurofeedback is a level one intervention for ADHD.Seeking treatment...

He is an integrative neurologist who actually uncovers the core issues behind neurological conditions such as memory loss, joint pain, sleep impairment, brain fog, chronic fatigue, chronic dizziness, chronic numbness and tingling.  Join Ann Louise and Dr. Sharlin as he explains the "Five Pillars" necessary for accurate diagnosis and successful treatment: 1) correctly identifying the problem with the use of diagnostic tools to “name” the condition, along with a close look at family history; 2) Investigating the root causes using the ‘Brain Tune Up!' lab panel; 3) integrating the findings together into a cohesive, workable plan that will change the patient's trajectory including health coaching, functional nutrition, and neuro fitness; 4) restoring a vision of the patient as the best version of themselves which also includes the restoration and optimization of hormones; and 5) regenerating through a proprietary use of autologous mesenchymal stem cells to help repair injured and inflamed tissue and turn off apoptosis. Dr. Sharlin also utilizes state-of-the-art testing so that no rock is left unturned to find the origin of neurological conditions. He is the author of “The Healthy Brain Toolbox: Neurologist-Proven Strategies to Improve Memory Loss and Protect Your Aging Brain.” This is another fascinating interview with Ann Louise that you won't want to miss! Lately, it seems that autoimmune disorders have eclipsed heart disease, cancer, and diabetes in America today. In this enlightening podcast, learn why Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, Crohn's Disease, Type 1 Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis — and autoimmune related diseases like Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome -- are on the rise. Ann Louise and celebrated naturopath Dr. Michael Karlfeldt unpack the roles of mold, chemicals, heavy metals, viruses, diet, stress, and lifestyle – and how they contribute to the development of autoimmune disease. They also discuss how the modern lifestyle and environmental contamination have created a “perfect storm” — the ripest possible conditions for today's autoimmune epidemic to take hold. Thankfully, according to Dr. Karlfeldt, the innate intelligence and healing power of the body -- if properly supported spiritually, emotionally and nutritionally -- can allow anyone to find their way back to health. Karlfeldt currently runs one of the largest Integrative medicine centers in the Pacific Northwest, The Karlfeldt Center, in Boise, Idaho. The First Lady of Nutrition welcomes Tamara Rubin, aka ‘Lead Safe Mama,' an internationally recognized and award winning Lead-poisoning prevention advocate. A proud mother of four sons, Tamara took on the cause of childhood Lead-poisoning (and consumer goods safety advocacy) after her children were acutely Lead-poisoned by the work of a painting contractor in 2005. As Tamara and Ann Louise discuss, childhood Lead poisoning is both the single-most costly and the single-most preventable environmental illness in the world today. Lead-poisoning was not “solved” with the 1978 “ban” on Lead in residential paint; more than 1 out of 3 children in America (and worldwide) today have had an unsafe level of Lead in their blood in their lifetime. Lead-poisoning causes permanent brain damage in young children and yet – still today – costs the United States more than $50.9 Billion annually! Through her public advocacy work and private consulting, Tamara has personally helped tens of thousands of families create safer homes and environments for their children and continues to personally help families every day. For those of you who have children, grandchildren or know people who do – this is a must listen to podcast to get educated about this preventable illness. You can follow Tamara's work “@LeadSafeMama” on all of the various social media channels.
