- KEN HAM: "Healing and Hope for a Divided Church in a Culture of Chaos" - DR TIFFANY TAJIRI: "HEALING THE PSYCHOLOGICAL AND SPIRITUAL WOUNDS OF WAR" - Gregg Harris of Thru the Bible
Welcome to Peace After Combat with your hosts: clinical psychologists, Air Force Veterans, AUTHORS, and spouses to veterans, Dr Tiffany Tajiri and Dr. Kristina Seymour. Learn about the connection between faith, spirituality and psychology and how to find peace after painful LIFE experiences. Real Truths, through Real Talk about Real Life. Now here are your hosts, Dr. Tiffany Tajiri and Dr. Kristina Seymour. In the first episode of Peace After Combat, Libby Bates over at Behind the Service sits down with Dr Tiffany to speak to her about her book, Peace After Combat, Healing the Spiritual & Psychological Wounds of War. Dr. Tiffany Tajiri takes a hard look at the psychological trauma experienced by veterans and their loved ones and offers insight and hope for better lives. It could be your neighbor, your coworker, your son, or the woman sitting next to you in church. When combat veterans return from war, they're often confused. They struggle to reconnect with their families; the cheering crowds and smothering hugs make them want to jump out of their skin, and sometimes they even long to return to the hell of deployment. What they've experienced in combat can radically change how they view themselves, others, and the world at large. They may have never seen so much hurt, suffering, death, and destruction, which leaves them questioning, “Where is God?”https://www.buzzsprout.com/1928334 Book: Peace After Combat - (drtiffanytajiri.com)Kristina Seymour"Thank you to BetterHelp for sponsoring today's episode!Behind the Service listeners can get 10% off by visiting:https://betterhelp.com/behindtheserviceHome » Coming Home WellWe are a 501C3 nonprofit organization.Make sure you like, leave a review and share with a friend!Follow us on IG@behindtheservice@cominghomwell_btshttps://www.linkedin.com/company/coming-home-well-bts@drtiffanytajiri(1) Dr. Tiffany Tajiri-White, Psy.D., ABPP | LinkedIn@kristinaseymour1(1) Kristina Seymour | LinkedInFacebook at Behind The Service or Coming Home Well
Tiffany Tajiri & Zachary Booth
This conversation, this human - she is like angel on earth. You are going to just be enamored, not only by the words, but the way that she stewards the Word itself in today's conversation. She is a lot of things - a psychologist, a previous U.S. Air Force officer, a ministry leader, a speaker, a founder and a behavioral health enthusiast. Dr. Tiffany Tajiri has such wisdom and she's young. A lot of times you associate wisdom with age, and this is not the case here with Dr. Tiffany. She's going to literally bless you and unlock you. I pray a divine revelation for you as you listen to her today, and please, please get in touch with her and her resources. Ready to walk into 2022 with a new level of knowledge and inspiration? Have you experienced trauma - the loss of a loved one, divorce or an accident - and you're trying to find peace and hope again? PTSD affects all ages and walks of life. Dr. Tiffany Tajiri is the author of a new life-changing book “Peace After Combat: Healing the Spiritual and Psychological Wounds of War.” Dr. Tiffany has a heart for people and she helps veterans and their families find hope and healing from trauma, PTSD and the emotional wounds of war and rediscover God's goodness, grace and purpose for their lives. We want to be clear: this episode is for anyone who has gone through a tragic experience, or if you're trying to help a family member of a friend. Brenda shares, “Talking about how science and faith work together to heal deep trauma is a real passion of mine. Yes, you heard me, science and faith! I have experienced brain trauma in my family and this episode is very personal for me.” Shelley reveals, “We call Dr. Tiffany a prophetic doctor. She's completely beautiful, inside and out. I talked about my experience with PTSD for the first time after the Woolsey Fire hit my neighborhood in 2018. I had never experienced a panic attack before until I was trapped in that six hour evacuation with the fire above us on the hill, and I was very surprised how it affected me afterwards. If I feel trapped in rush hour traffic, or in a crowded plane, that feeling of not being able to get out, my blood pressure just skyrockets. After talking to Dr. Tiffany I understand more about how I can rewrite my story, and I can also see where God was during the fire and all of the things He did to bring me to safety. I experienced tremendous healing just talking to her.” You're going to learn so much about how the brain processes trauma and practical steps to heal both spiritually and psychologically in this episode. Dr. Tiffany explains, “I help people see that God was not the author of their pain and suffering. Absolutely not! You didn't go through this alone. There's bad people out there; God does not control us. When my patients recognize that God was not the author of their painful event and they can start to see where He was in their story, they can start to see that He is on their side. They feel that protective element again. They start to understand that there's beauty for ashes.”

Today on the podcast we have Dr. Tiffany Tajiri who is a veteran of the Air Force, an Army and Air Force psychologist, and the current Chief of the largest behavioral health clinic at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. She and her team work with active duty armed forces, veterans and their families to help them prepare for the missions and deployments and cope with the trauma of their experiences and how they impact them spiritually, emotionally and how that manifests in their bodies and reaches into every part of their lives and relationships. Dr. Tiffany is passionate about helping others find healing and she does so in this fascinating space where science and faith cooperate because the Creator is the Author of both. She shares with us today incredibly insightful science of how the brain, mind, soul all work together and how God wired us to heal. Then, she reminds us how scripture is layered with verbiage that talks about God's word and the body. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength.” (Matthew 22:37) “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2 - just to name a couple.) God knows our bodies! He made them! He also knows that what we will endure on Earth takes an incredible toll on our bodies, our minds, hearts and our faith, and so we need His word hidden within us so that when the lies of the enemy come, we have an answer,, a sword to wield to defend ourselves and to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. This conversation and the topics Dr. Tiffany and I cover are not exclusive to veterans, but I do believe it felt important to share this episode this week because we just experienced the 20th anniversary of 9/11, the affects of the exit from Afghanistan is ongoing, and there's just A LOT that continues to come to the surface for the armed forces community, for veterans and for those who fight their own battles with trauma of all types. We need tools to know how to respond to the war we are in that is not of flesh and blood, but also to serve those who give their all on all different types of front lines. This is swimming in the deep end of the pool friends, but it's not a place the Lord is unfamiliar with, and wherever He is, that's where we want to be. The presence of God is so close to you, even in this very moment. The only thing that will fill the void created by pain and trauma is Jesus, y'all. Mental Illness, depression and anxiety, suicidal ideation, these are all VERY real things that attack our body and every part of our existence. When you are sick, you get medicine, you get help. While you are healing your body and addressing the neurons in your brain, your soul and your mind still needs to be addressed and filled with what is true to address the cracks in the foundation of what your life is built on. The Spirit can lead you to that place, and be near to You in the journey of healing your whole self. I love that Dr. Tiffany shared with us that both the physical and the mental/spiritual elements of who we are matter and all of it deserves the attention of healing. You matter, friend. Your story matters. This week we welcome Dr. Tiffany Tajiri, board certified psychologist and author of Peace After Combat: Healing the Spiritual and Psychological Wounds of War. For so many science and faith are held at arm's length from one another, but Dr. Tajiri combines the two worlds in what she calls "Rhythm Restoration". This method is a combination of RHYTHM for soothing, BILATERAL STIMULATION for psychological digestion, and positive VISUALIZATION for the re-scripting of painful experiences. She walks us through a gritty, and honest, look at what combat veterans are faced with when they return home. Each chapter, of Peace After Combat, illustrates a common situation facing our service members, and how faith can be the catalyst for healing. The novellas combine to answer the question, "Where is God in war?" Dr. Tajiri also talks about her non-profit, Stand-Up and Recover; providing health and hope to military veterans, and family members, through education of behavioral health resources, retreats, excursions, and spiritual counseling. Whether you are a believer, or not, Dr. Tajiri's insight and message supports the idea that "God is Love'', and let's be honest the world needs a lot more of that!Peace After Combat: Healing the Spiritual and Psychological Wounds of War available everywhere July 1st.
