To be a great trader, you have to be a great learner as well as a continual learner. This includes learning about yourself, who you are, what you do, and how you do it. However, if we don't have feedback systems that allow us to see ourselves and our actions more objectively, we will always view ourselves through the lens of our biases and ego. This is why using a journaling tool is so valuable. In this compelling episode, we welcome back the duo behind Tradeciety and the brilliant online trader journaling tool, Edgewonk: Rolf Schlotmann and Moritz Czubatinski. These two trader journaling experts know all about the challenges and benefits of trader journaling, including the personal challenges that arises in committing to an activity that many acknowledge as incredibly beneficial but which they too often neglect. This neglect is akin to an athlete shying away from their full training routines, which eventually sees them losing out to those athletes who do fully embrace their full training routines. This episode delves deep into the art of journaling and its capacity to enhance peak performance. Rolf and Moritz also provide valuable insights into the evolution of Edgewonk, a tool that has facilitated the creation of nearly 60,000 individual trading journals. They share how traders leverage their cutting-edge platform and provide a glimpse into the forthcoming enhancements planned for Edgewonk. We are thrilled to extend an exclusive offer to AlphaMind listeners: a $20 discount on Edgewonk by using the voucher code "alphamind20" during checkout.Find out more about Tradeciety and their learning and development programmes for traders at: https://tradeciety.com/ Find our more about Edgewonk at https://edgewonk.com or email info@edgewonk.com.AlphaMind: Powering Performance in Global Markets AlphaMind brings powerful change, growth and development to people and businesses within global markets. In today’s Trader’s Mindchat Show, Mike and Melissa interview Tradeciety and Edgewonk co-founder Rolf Schlotmann and dive deep into learning key trading habits to keep the ego out of trading and help ensure long-term success. Also, Mike and Melissa compare Rolf’s journey with Robin Sharma’s book “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari” and discuss important factors that create a more present state of mind when goal setting. Also, they tackle Investing Mastermind Warren Buffett’s 5/25 Rule and debate how to apply this rule and how to narrow down from your list of 25 goals to the five you feel most passionate about. Then they help give actionable ways to create a roadmap on reaching them. Try out new things, have passions outside of trading. 2) Most people chase big dreams but what you need to do is create your perfect average day. Do following exercise: think about what you need for your perfect average day. The simple moments. Having breakfast with your kids, what type of business are you running, are the people you are interacting with healthy and stimulating. Food you eat. This exercise will show that you already have the perfect day within reach and you don’t need millions in bank account to reach it. Motivating and inspiring. 3) Don’t let trading results correlate with your self-worth. Many traders who have a bad trading day will take it out on themselves, people they interact with, and have a negative impact on their day. 4) Have the beginner mindset. Nice to not be in expert or teacher mode. When starting something new it is stimulating your creativity and challenges you. 5) Take the emotions out of trading by thinking, what emotions are coming up and what did I just do to cause that? Break my rules, too much risk, etc. 6) Don’t have distractions when trading. Listen to yourself. We have become so detached from ourselves that we lose the connection with ourselves not just in trading but in our life. 7) Meditation doesn’t have to just be in a small room. Read Arnold Schwarzenegger’s biography that meditation can be during a workout, or however you are able to bring mindfulness and awareness into your daily life. You don’t just meditate for five minutes and cross it off the list for the day. 8) The inner voice can sometimes be harsh “recommends Napoleon Hill’s book “Outwitting the Devil.” The inner voice isn’t always telling the truth so important to identify it and rise above it. 9) Stopped drinking coffee before trading, since a stimulant and creating more inner turmoil. You don’t need that when you are doing a mental activity against yourself. 10) You need trading rules and have discipline. But ok to introduce something new or change a variable. Explore and help make it exciting and fun. Introduce one new thing at a time (i.e. setting a new stop loss) and do it for 30 trades. Then analyze the results.

Rolf Schlotmann of Tradeciety.com and Edgewonk.com gives his Action Plan for transitioning from part time trade to full time trader Rolf lived for years as a ‘Nomad Trader’ traveling and trading in Asia - he shows us how to live the dream Trader Interview - Rolf Schlotmann - How to Become a Full Time Trader Long time listeners of the podcast will remember our interview with Moritz Czubatinski on Episode 16. Moritz and Rolf form both halves of the Tradeciety team, and are also the people behind the wildly popular Edgewonk trading journal. Rolf began his professional life in much the same way I imagine many of you reading this did - good degree, corporate job, good salary and great prospects. But, just like many of you I expect, he grew disillusioned with the 9-5 life. Rolf did what many wish they had the stones to do - he sacked off his job, sold everything he owned unless it fit in one bag and moved to South East Asia to become a full time trader, or ‘Trading Nomad’. But, being a deep thinking kind of guy, this was not a rash decision; not spur of the moment. He made sure that he followed an action plan. He laid it out for us and recommends that anyone thinking of following in his steps to become a full time trader does something similar: First become a profitable part time trader. Be honest with yourself. Stop system hopping. Get great at one thing. Decide how much money you need to live for a year. Keep that separate from your trading account. Ensure that your trading account is big enough and you are profitable enough that after a year you could live on the profits. Be patient and have a long term mindset. If you decide on Monday that you hate your job don’t just quit, sell everything and move to Thailand. Follow an action plan. You have to be a profitable part time trader before you can become a full time trader. Rolf’s experience with many traders that he has mentored through this process suggests that once a trader is sat in front of the screens all day every day they actually find it harder to trade profitably because they can’t stop fiddling with their trades! Deciding to quit your job to become a profitable trader is the wrong way around, according to Rolf. This episode is packed full of advice for anyone wishing to become a full time trader, be it a nomad trader or from-your-bedroom trader at home!If you want to read Rolf’s blogs that were mentioned in the episode you can check them out here: http://www.tradeciety.com/traders-are-better-humans-and-here-is-why-optimize-your-life-and-performance/http://www.tradeciety.com/how-to-become-a-full-time-trader/http://www.tradeciety.com/how-moving-to-asia-made-me-a-profitable-trader/http://www.tradeciety.com/is-it-too-late-for-you-to-become-a-profitable-trader-what-do-do-now/ Cryptocurrency Trading Competition You can check out the leaderboard here: www.twoblokestrading.com/tbt If you want to get involved in trading cryptocurrencies yourself, but missed out on the competition then click that link and sign up for your own demo or live account to get started right away!
My guest today is Moritz Czubatinski. He started off as a professional poker player but wanted a more legitimate way of making money. He started his trading career with zero education in finance and now trades off 8 to 10 charts for 6 to 8 hours a day. He was use to playing 24 tables of poker at a time (online) so Moritz is use to the constant action. Moritz Czubatinski specializes in helping traders get going. He has been traveling, trading and running a business for about 8 years. Tradeciety, his first business, was formed to help traders get started in the markets. Next, Moritz started a trading journal software company called Edgewonk. Every trader needs a journal, and when Moritz started out trading, there were no practical journals available. The topics are trading and poker. Another positive about making the jump to trading from poker? The playing field is constant. In poker, as you get better, the players you play against get better. In trading, the great traders are forever competing against newbies. What is Moritz favorite market? He likes trading currency futures because it is open 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. Michael asks if this type of constant action, from a concentration and time stand point, will be more difficult for today’s generation. Are they able to sit in front of a screen 6 to 8 hours a day? Will they be as successful at it? 90% of the people Moritz mentors will not stay in day trading. Most feel miserable. Moritz watches a screen all day for work and then to relax, he plays video games. Watching screens is just what he loves to do. Michael and Moritz finish the conversation talking travel the best places to visit. Moritz Czubatinski: A Successful Trader Traveling Around The World In episode 70 of the Desire To Trade Podcast, I interview Moritz Czubatinski, a Forex and futures trader currently living in Hong Kong. What I find really interesting about Moritz is that he has been able to travel the world while trading. That is definitely one of my personal goals (I’ll keep you updated!). Interestingly enough, Moritz transitioned from his career as a professional Poker player to a full-time trader traveling the world. However, he had to go through an office job in Beijing in-between. He is also the founder of the blog Tradeciety along with Rolf. Moritz places a particular emphasis on trading journals. For him, having a journal is essential to successful trading. In fact, “I’ve never seen a profitable trader without a trading journal.’, he says. It is for that reason that Moritz created Edgewonk, a trading journal software. Share This!
