Hear about travel to Egypt including Cairo and climbing Mount Sinai in the Sinai Peninsula as the Amateur Traveler talks to Greg from ThePresentPerspective.com about their recent trip to see a different part of Egypt. https://amateurtraveler.com/travel-to-egypt-and-mount-sinai/ Why should you go to Egypt? Greg says, "I think there are a million reasons why someone should go to Egypt. Warm and hospitable people. Great culture. Egyptian history obviously is vast, and it's one of the oldest civilizations in the world. There's so much to see in Lower Egypt, in Cairo there's just an endless wealth of treasures to explore but when we visited Egypt, we decided to go a little bit off of the traditional route that a lot of tourists go it's not that we weren't interested in going to Luxor and Aswan and doing a Nile cruise. We enjoy history, but we're not history buffs, and I think, to us, there was enough ancient history in Cairo." "So while Luxor would have been great to visit, we had enough of a time with Egyptian history in Cairo, with the pyramids and Saqqara and all of that. So we decided to go a different route and instead of heading south, head east. So we headed into the Sinai Peninsula." Day 1: Arrival in Cairo Arrive in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. Check into your accommodation in Giza. Day 2: Exploring the Pyramids Spend the day exploring the Giza Plateau. Visit the iconic Pyramids of Giza, including the Great Pyramid of Khufu. Explore the Sphinx and the ancient temples in the area. Day 3: Saqqara and Memphis Head to Saqqara, known for the Step Pyramid, which is one of the oldest pyramid structures. Explore the ancient city of Memphis, the former capital of Egypt. Return to your accommodation in Cairo or Giza for the night. Day 4: Coptic Cairo and St. Simon the Tanner Monastery Explore the historic district of Coptic Cairo. Visit St. Simon the Tanner Monastery, located in caves on Mount Makatum. Enjoy the unique atmosphere of this historic site. Spend the night in Cairo. Day 5: Travel to St. Catharine Depart for St. Catharine, a town located at the base of Mount Sinai. Choose either a road trip from Cairo or fly to Sharm El Sheikh International Airport and arrange transportation to St. Catharine. Check into your accommodation in St. Catharine. Day 6: Hiking Mount Sinai Wake up early to begin your sunrise hike up Mount Sinai. Enjoy the breathtaking views from the summit as the sun rises. Visit St. Catherine's Monastery, one of the oldest in the world, located at the foot of the mountain. Spend the night in St. Catharine. Day 7: Dahab and the Red Sea Head to the coastal town of Dahab. Explore the vibrant underwater world by snorkeling or diving in the Blue Hole. Visit the Colored Canyon, which offers stunning natural beauty. Enjoy the Magic Lake for a unique swimming experience. Stay in Dahab for the night. Day 8: Relaxing in Dahab Spend a leisurely day on the beach, enjoying the clear waters of the Red Sea. Visit the Blue Lagoon for a peaceful experience. Take in the local culture and cuisine in Dahab. Relax and unwind in this beautiful coastal town. Day 9: Return to Cairo Travel to Sharm El Sheikh International Airport. Fly back to Cairo and home Egypt has so much to see. The Pyramids are amazing, but also consider heading into the Sinai to climb the sacred mountain of Sinai.

509. We talk to Ruth Laney about her biography of Ernest Gaines: Cherie Quarters: The Place and the People That Inspired Ernest J. Gaines.  "Cherie Quarters combines personal interviews, biography, and social history to tell the story of a plantation quarter and its most famous resident, renowned Louisiana writer and Pulitzer Prize nominee Ernest J. Gaines. In clear and vivid prose, this original and vital book illuminates the birthplace of a preeminent Black author and the lives of the people who inspired his work. Before he became an award-winning writer, Gaines was the son of sharecroppers in Cherie Quarters, a small Black community in Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana. Drawing on decades of interviews and archival research, Ruth Laney explores the lives and histories of the families, both kin and not, who lived in a place where 'everybody was everybody's child.' Built as slave cabins for the nearby River Lake Plantation in the 1840s, the houses of Cherie Quarters were cold in winter, hot in summer, filled with mosquitoes, and overflowing with people. Even so, the residents made these houses into homes. Laney describes aspects of their daily lives — work, food, entertainment, religion, and education—then expands her focus to the white families who built River Lake Plantation, enslaved its people, and later directed the lives of its Black sharecroppers" (LSU Pr.). This little rhyme is well known to young school children to help them remember this sacred spot: "In Down three saint Do one grave fill: Patrick, Brigid and Columcille." The Saint Patrick Centre is the only permanent exhibit to Patrick in the world and is educational, artistic, informative and provides insights into Patrick's life and early Christianity in an inspiring and uplifting way. The story of Patrick is told in Patrick's own words through the writings of Patrick which were available after his death for future centuries. Patrick's death is noted as 461 A.D.

Victoria-Rose Supper wears many hats as a social media strategist, publicist and musician and fully enjoys taking on more interests when she decides to accept her quirkiness as her strength.  Join me in this episode of Someone Gets Me — What Happens When You Accept Being A Gifted Adult ▶️ Key points covered in this episode:  ✔️ Music is the easiest and the most honest way to connect with the world. Victoria shares her journey to knowing herself and how songs and melody became an outlet of her genius and a gift of healing.   ✔️ When you try and put yourself into a box -- that is such a lonely experience.  When we try to fit ourselves into something that we are not, we have to deny a part of us to do that, which is trying to cut off an arm and pretend we still have two. We're trained in society to follow and always ensure to be "coloring inside the lines". We see later in life that we don't need it.  ✔️  If you don't take a break, your body will take a break for you.  Give yourself time, flexibility, grow and love yourself through the process.  ✔️  What part of you do you continue to deny? Teach yourself to honor your body, mind and heart. Start living the life you are meant to live by embracing yourself fully. About Victoria-Rose Building people up has been a life-long passion of Victoria-Rose's, whether it's through music, in the classroom, or telling their stories on the internet.  She's been lucky enough to get to work with brands and public figures like Dianne A. Allen, With Understanding Comes Calm, the Dali Museum, Visit St. Petersburg/Clearwater, and Clearwater Marine Aquarium as a social media strategist and publicist - but her biggest passion lies in music.  Having begged her parents to let her take piano at the age of five, Victoria-Rose decided from a very young age that music would always be a major part of her life. Although she predominantly performs as an atmospheric pianist, you can also find her playing in the orchestra pit and singing onstage in various theatres across the Tampa Bay Area.  While not managing social media accounts or making music, Victoria-Rose can be found learning coding for kicks, browsing local bookstores, planning theatre experiences, sampling local tea rooms, and wandering the streets of Downtown St. Pete. Connect with Victoria-Rose: Instagram: @atravelingpianist or @soundandstorysmm Email: soundandstorysmm@gmail.com ______________________________________________________________________ How to Connect with Dianne A. Continued from Part 1… At other times, the settings feel natural, like the gay nightclub Blur or a tour of the colorful WhimzeyLand “bowling ball house” in an episode featuring a scavenger hunt. Even the countless gratuitous beach shots mostly feel believable. “I'm watching something and I'm drawn into the show because of the storyline, but also the places I'm seeing in front of me,” said Steve Hayes, president of Visit St. Pete Clearwater. While sometimes awkward, the characters in Life's Rewards refer to every destination in the scene by name. There were no fake dive bars or coffee shops. The hospitality industry has been hit hard by the pandemic, and tourist towns are eager to seize on the new willingness to travel. That's put more pressure on destinations to market outside the box. “Every single destination in the world is now looking for that tourism boom,” said Alexandra Delf, executive vice president for London-based Grifco, a travel marketing firm. Movie- and TV-inspired travel is so popular that the firm is using pandemic binge shows to promote its biggest clients. For instance, promotional ads note that scenes from Netflix's Bridgerton were filmed near The Gainsborough Bath Spa in Bath, England. The production company behind the Florida show said scripted shows are a new genre for travel marketing, and that they're already in talks to shoot some for other cities in the state. “We don't want people to feel marketed to. We want them to feel lost in the storyline and get invested in the characters like any other show on streaming or TV, but we're providing a positive context for our destination,” said Brianne Maciejowski, director of film and video for Odyssey Studios. Host Glenn Haussman is a well know hotel and lodging industry personality, industry speaker, writer, consultant and editor at large with Hotel Management (HotelManagement.net), where he writes two columns a week.  Though this is a new show, he had five years' experience behind the mic. On this first episode, Glenn tells us a little about what to expect with No Vacancy. Then he opines on the hotel industry's misguided infatuation with millennials, and how as a Gen X member he feels ignored. Very sad! Then Glenn chats with David Downing, Executive Director, Visit St. Pete/Clearwater - ‎Visit St. Pete Clearwater. They discuss how this market has become one of the hottest tourist destinations globally. But more importantly, they delve into the strategy that got them there in the first place.
