First, there was the March 15 conference revealing stunning discoveries that may lie beneath the Khafre pyramid... But there was also a follow-up conference March 16 that was hardly reported. So I got a hold of the Italian transcript and I asked ChatGPT to translate, outline, and summarize the March 16, 2025 press conference (centered on new radar and archaeological findings at the Giza Plateau):

I interviewed Emissive / Excurio co-founder and CEO Fabien Barati at Laval Virtual 2023 after having tried the free-roaming Immersive Expedition edition of Éternelle Notre-Dame, which was really quite incredible. I originally saw the sit-down version of Éternelle Notre-Dame at Venice Immersive 2022, but the free-roaming, immersive expedition version was such a distinctly different experience that felt like I was going on a proper adventure. Here's a showreel of Excurio's immersive expeditions that includes Horizon of Khufu, Tonight with the Impressionists, Paris 1874, Eternal Notre-Dame, and Life Chronicles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUoOzBYQ1cM Emissive / Excurio had their Un Soir Avec Les Impressionnistes, Paris 1874 immersive expedition experience in competition for Venice Immersive 2024, and so I wanted to publish this unpublished interview from my archive backlog because their immersive expedition LBE experiences are really taking the immersive industry world by storm from France to China to Canada and beyond. They're able to put over 100 people per hour through their experiences, and over a hundred thousand over the period of months for some of their runs. There was certainly a buzz around how successful of a model this has been on both the creation of IP but also for the third-party exhibitors who are managing the on-site logistics. Hopefully this archival interview provides a bit more context for how these immersive expeditions have been developing as it was certainly a hot topic amongst folks during the festival who are thinking about the challenges of distribution, throughput, and finding sustainable models that have the promise of growing the XR industry. E064: Dust to Dust “Alexander the Great and his mule driver both died and the same thing happened to both. “ – Marcus Aurelius In This Episode, We Get Stoic About: Built during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom period, around 2580–2560 BC, the Great Pyramid was commissioned by Pharaoh Khufu as a tomb, intended to house his mummified body and treasures for the afterlife. Historians estimate that the project took at least 20 years to complete and required the labor of some 20,000 full time workers supplemented by as many as 100,000 seasonal workers. It is ironic then, that despite commissioning the decades long construction of a building that stood for 39 centuries as the earth's tallest manmade structure, all but a few fragmentary details of Khufu's reign, as well as his mummified remains, have been lost to history. We talk about leaving a legacy that endures on today's podcast! He is also a documentary filmmaker with 14 published titles. and leads private tours to sacred sites worldwide. The Great Pyramid of Giza[a] is the largest Egyptian pyramid and the tomb of Fourth Dynastypharaoh Khufu. Built in the early 26th century BC during a period of around 27 years,[3] the pyramid is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one to remain largely intact. It is the most famous monument of the Giza pyramid complex, in the Pyramid Fieldsof the Memphis and its Necropolis UNESCO World Heritage Site,[4] in Giza, Egypt. It is at the most Northern end of the line of the 3 Pyramids of Giza. Initially standing at 146.6 metres (481 feet), the Great Pyramid was the tallest man-made structurein the world for more than 3,800 years. Over time, most of the smooth white limestone casing was removed, which lowered the pyramid's height to the present 138.5 metres (454.4 ft). What is seen today is the underlying core structure. The base was measured to be about 230.3 metres (755.6 ft) square, giving a volume of roughly 2.6 million cubic metres (92 million cubic feet), which includes an internal hillock.[5] The dimensions of the pyramid were 280 royal cubits (146.7 m; 481.4 ft) high, a base length of 440 cubits (230.6 m; 756.4 ft), with a seked of 5+1/2 palms (a slope of 51°50'40"). The Great Pyramid was built by quarrying an estimated 2.3 million large blocks weighing 6 million tonnes in total. The majority of stones are not uniform in size or shape and are only roughly dressed.[6] The outside layers were bound together by mortar. Primarily local limestone from the Giza Plateau was used. Other blocks were imported by boat on the Nile: White limestone from Tura for the casing, and granite blocks from Aswan, weighing up to 80 tonnes, for the King's Chamber structure.[7] There are three known chambers inside the Great Pyramid. The lowest was cut into the bedrock, upon which the pyramid was built, but remained unfinished. The so-called[8] Queen's Chamber and King's Chamber, that contains a granite sarcophagus, are above ground, within the pyramid structure. Khufu's vizier, Hemiunu (also called Hemon), is believed by some to be the architect of the Great Pyramid.[9] Many varying scientific and alternative hypotheses attempt to explain the exact construction techniques. The funerary complex around the pyramid consisted of two mortuary temples connected by a causeway (one close to the pyramid and one near the Nile), tombs for the immediate family and court of Khufu, including three smaller pyramids for Khufu's wives, an even smaller "satellite pyramid" and five buried solar barges (boats).Follow Our Other ShowsFollow UFO WitnessesFollow Crime Watch WeeklyFollow Paranormal FearsFollow Seven: Disturbing Chronicle StoriesJoin our Patreon for ad-free listening and more bonus content.Follow us on Instagram @mysteriousradioFollow us on TikTok mysteriousradioTikTok Follow us on Twitter @mysteriousradio Follow us on Pinterest pinterest.com/mysteriousradio Like us on Facebook Facebook.com/mysteriousradio

Archaeologists know of only a few major artifacts of the pharaoh Khufu, who ruled Egypt more than 4500 years ago. The list includes some small statuettes — some of which might have been created long after his reign. But one artifact is at the opposite end of the size scale: the Great Pyramid of Giza, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The pyramid was built with the help of a guiding light — the star Thuban. At the time, it was the Pole Star. It marked due north in the sky, making it a good tool for laying out the pyramid. And as the Pole Star, it was the hub of the sky, with all the other stars rotating around it — a position that held great power for many cultures. Thuban stands due north as the sky gets dark right now. It’s in Draco, the dragon, high above today’s Pole Star, Polaris. Thuban isn’t very bright, so it’s hard to see from light-polluted cities. Thuban lost its position as the north celestial pole because of an effect known as precession. Earth wobbles on its axis like a gyroscope that’s running down. It takes 26,000 years to complete a single wobble. During that time, Earth’s axis draws a big circle on the northern sky, so different stars take turns marking the pole. Thuban held that position for a couple of thousand years, including the time when Khufu’s pyramid was built. It’ll return to that celebrated spot in the sky again — in about 20,000 years. Script by Damond Benningfield
Before the fall (c.2600 - 2200 BCE). Early Egyptians were fierce and active warriors. Our evidence for the Old Kingdom “army,” however, is scattered and fragmentary. Sifting through the pieces, we can reconstruct some elements of the early armed forces. In this episode, we explore royal texts that describe campaigns; pyramid art showing battles and soldiers training; and even images of siege warfare… The History of Egypt Podcast: Website: www.egyptianhistorypodcast.com. Ultimately, we will see that this marvel of human engineering was indeed done by a workforce organized by Khufu. In Digging up Ancient Aliens, our host Fredrik uses his background in archaeology to discover what is genuine, fake, and somewhere in between in popular media, such as Ancient Aliens, Ancient Apocalypse, and many other places. In this episode:Layers of dating the pyramidsKhufus sunboatsThe Queen PyramidsPyramid TextsThe Red Sea ScrollsMore episodes on pyramids and stone technology:Not since Sneferu - Pyramid building 101,The Last Wonder Standing: Ramping up the Giza Pyramids,Power of the Obelisk,The non-mystery of Puma Punku and TiwanakuContact:Website: https://diggingupancientaliens.comEmail: fredrik@diggingupancientaliens.comFacebook: facebook.com/Digging-up-Ancient-Aliens-108173641647111/Twitter: twitter.com/DUAncientAliensInstagram: instagram.com/digging_up_ancient_aliens/TikTok: tiktok.com/@digging_up_ancient_alienStore: https://diggingupancientaliens.com/merchBecome a supporter! The title says it all folks. It's been a long time coming, we're talking Old Kingdom Egypt, specifically the 4th Dynasty, which was known as the Age of Pyramids. We cover it from the humble beginnings of the wondrous structures to a time when the stone giants we think of today were constructed. How were these things built? We discuss it all and come to a few of our own conclusions.
Built by Pharaoh Khufu some 4,500 years ago, the Great Pyramid was the first ancient wonder to be built and is the only one still standing. Towering above the Giza Plateau, this stone behemoth was to be Khufu's tomb, the place from which he would travel to the afterlife. For this episode, Dan is joined by broadcaster and historian Bettany Hughes, author of 'The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World'. She explains how the Great Pyramid was built, what this awesome structure would have looked like at the time, and what it would have meant to the ancient Egyptians.Produced by James Hickmann and edited by Dougal Patmore.Discover the past with exclusive history documentaries and ad-free podcasts presented by world-renowned historians from History Hit. This time, we are going to look at the top 10 pyramids of the world according to Ancient Aliens. I could not tell if the list is based on how significant evidence the pyramids are for extraterrestrial visitation or how cool they are. The episode would also become too long if we did the whole list simultaneously, so this will be a two-parter. You could also view it as a compilation episode of some great pyramids and one farm structure. We will spend most of our time in Mesoamerica and visit Peru and Greece. How archaeology can increase your life expectancy by 40%! For centuries, popular perceptions of the Great Pyramid's construction have hinged on Herodotos reference to “twenty years.” While historians have debated that, hard evidence on the reign of Khufu (and its length) has always been fragmentary. In the past ten years, though, things have changed substantially. We now have strong evidence that Khufu reigned much longer than the “twenty years” story. This fundamentally changes our understanding of the period, and the Great Pyramid project… More information: Episode image: Khufu, small ivory statuette from Abydos (Egyptian Exploration Society archives). A crime scene with no crime? In 1925, archaeologists working at Giza uncovered a remarkable monument. The tomb chamber of Queen Hetep-Heres (c.2630-2580 BCE) contained a wealth of beautiful, high-quality items. But the monument itself was strange, the excavation was a serious challenge, and the results were baffling in many ways. In this episode, we explore the discovery, revelation, the life, and the legacy of Queen Hetep-Heres... Extended version of this episode and digital booklet available at www.patreon.com/egyptpodcast. Hear about travel to Egypt including Cairo and climbing Mount Sinai in the Sinai Peninsula as the Amateur Traveler talks to Greg from ThePresentPerspective.com about their recent trip to see a different part of Egypt. https://amateurtraveler.com/travel-to-egypt-and-mount-sinai/ Why should you go to Egypt? Greg says, "I think there are a million reasons why someone should go to Egypt. Warm and hospitable people. Great culture. Egyptian history obviously is vast, and it's one of the oldest civilizations in the world. There's so much to see in Lower Egypt, in Cairo there's just an endless wealth of treasures to explore but when we visited Egypt, we decided to go a little bit off of the traditional route that a lot of tourists go it's not that we weren't interested in going to Luxor and Aswan and doing a Nile cruise. We enjoy history, but we're not history buffs, and I think, to us, there was enough ancient history in Cairo." "So while Luxor would have been great to visit, we had enough of a time with Egyptian history in Cairo, with the pyramids and Saqqara and all of that. So we decided to go a different route and instead of heading south, head east. So we headed into the Sinai Peninsula." Day 1: Arrival in Cairo Arrive in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. We were grinding our way through Texas when James was hit with an interesting proposition from his friend, Bill. Insiders call him "Billy Goat." Okay, only James calls him that. At any rate, Bill had a friend drop out on a planned trip to Egypt, Jordan and Israel and called James off the bench to be the next man up. With all the Hollywood strikes about to pop off, James realized he'd have some time on his hands. Denise also wanted him out of her hair for awhile because he'd been a cranky ass, so all this leads up to James booking a flight and landing in Cairo four days later. Here's the recap of what happens when you torch caution and join your best buddy on the most epic road trip, ever! Prophecy Radio episode #91 provides you with a brief history lesson on some of the more well-known monuments found across Egypt, since several of them have been mentioned in The Red Pyramid so far. This week, we're skipping the news, but we'll be back with more in the next episode. We also return to The Kane Chronicles: The Red Pyramid by tackling chapter 15, in which Osiris has the worst birthday of his life. New episodes of Prophecy Radio air weekly, and we keep our discussions PG-13. History Lesson: 5 Egyptian Monuments You Should Know (00:01:03) We're talking about five awesome monuments you should know about from Egyptian history. And, of course, we have to start with the Great Pyramid of Giza. Believe it or not, Khufu is NOT just a baboon. English just doesn't phlegm as well as other languages. It's pretty impressive that a PYRAMID was the largest man-made structure for such a long time. You can't talk about the Great Pyramid without mentioning in the Sphinx! Are there differences between the Greek and Egyptian sphinxes? It's important to acknowledge the dark history behind a lot of historical monuments. Let's travel to Karnak next. Have you heard of this one before? It has so much historical significance, it's wild! If you haven't heard of Luxor, you've probably heard of Thebes. Do you remember talking about Aten before? There's so much duality when it comes to the gods. Wait, HOW many pharaohs contributed to Karnak? There's a reason why we're talking about Hatshepsut and that reason is because she's awesome. What's a mortuary temple and what purpose does it serve? Okay, it would be a little cool to have a cult (not THAT kind of cult). Let's learn a little more about Hatshepsut because she is FASCINATING. We'd love to learn more about her through a queer lens. Let's learn more about Luxor/Thebes. Instead of being dedicated to a specific god or pharaoh, it was dedicated to kingship in general. Everyone wanted to say they were crowned here, even if they never made it that far (looking at you, Alex). The chapel inside changed a lot over time, for better or worse. You've probably heard of the Valley of the Kings, but do you know its official name? We're learning so many new words this week! The Valley of the Monkeys is just as interesting, too! If you're wondering, yes, this is where King Tut is buried. Did you enjoy this History Lesson? Kane Chronicles: The Red Pyramid discussion (00:34:54) This week, we're tackling The Red Pyramid chapter 15. Cobras wandering the halls? NBD. The grass is always greener on the other side! Sadie's attitude about not fitting in is much healthier than ours was as kids. Imagine reliving a GOD'S memory!? It's definitely weird that Isis looks like Sadie's mom. C'mon, Osiris, you should know better than to trust Set! Is this the origin of the sarcophagus? When do you think we should do a Deep Dive on Set? No big deal, but Sadie almost died. Unfortunately, Osiris DID die, but it kind of worked out for him. The relationships between gods is always gonna be weird. Being the host for a god sounds hazardous to your health. Do we have any guesses as to who the mysterious kid was? Is Iskandar dying!? Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 92, in which we'll catch you up on all the latest Riordanverse news, and then read The Red Pyramid chapter 16! This episode's hosts are: Karen Rought and Kristen Kranz. Before getting back into Egyptian astronomy proper, we start by looking at Nabta Playa, a site of megalithic activity in the Nubian desert during the late neolithic. Then we turn to the megaliths the Egyptians are best known for — the pyramids. The pyramids have remarkably precise alignments to the cardinal directions and the techniques the Egyptians used to set these alignments remains a mystery. Finally, we look at the largest of the pyramids, Khufu's pyramid, whose so-called ventilation shafts have a possible astronomical connection.
Archaeologists recently released pictures of a hidden chamber inside the pyramid of Khufu, the largest of the Great Pyramids of Giza. The chamber was discovered with cosmic “X-rays.” Cosmic rays are particles from exploding stars and other powerful events. When they strike atoms and molecules in Earth's atmosphere, they create showers of other particles, including muons. They zip through solid matter — including the pyramid, which was built more than 4500 years ago. Detectors placed around the pyramid picked up the muons, providing a 3D view of its interior — revealing the 30-foot-long chamber. The X-rays aren't the pyramid's only connection to the stars. It was laid out with the help of the North Star. And a shaft inside the pyramid points to another star. When the pyramids were built, north was marked not by today's North Star, Polaris, but by Thuban, a star in Draco. Under dark skies, it's visible along the line between Polaris and the tip of the handle of the Big Dipper. The change is the result of a wobble in Earth's axis. Guided by Thuban, architects aligned the pyramid with the cardinal directions with amazing precision. The pyramid also contains a shaft that aims at Orion's Belt. In ancient Egypt, the stars of Orion represented Osiris, the god of the underworld. A dead king joined Osiris as one of the stars in that part of the sky. So the shaft provided a path from this world to the next. Script by Damond Benningfield Support McDonald Observatory
Send us a Text Message.Towering 450 feet above the Egyptian desert lies the Great Pyramid of Giza, its rugged, crumbling facade a mere ruin of its former glory. It was once clad in blinding white limestone, fit so tightly together the seams were invisible. A capstone of pure gold crowned the top, reflecting the sun's light for miles like a beacon of triumph for a flourishing civilization. The textbooks teach us that the Great Pyramid was built around 4,500 years ago as a tomb for the pharaoh Khufu. But did you know, that might not be true. At all. Prophecy Radio episode #79 discusses our favorite references to Egyptian mythology in pop culture. We also catch up on all the latest Riordanverse news, including that Read Riordan article about Hypnos, which we'll see in The Sun and the Star. Lastly, we continue our journey through The Kane Chronicles with The Red Pyramid chapter 6—and finally get some answers! Remember, we're keeping this discussion spoiler-free! New episodes of Prophecy Radio air weekly, and we keep our discussions PG-13. News and updates (00:05:56) Have you played Immortals Fenyx Rising? Read Riordan reminds us about some minor Greek gods and goddesses we forgot existed. They also did a spotlight on Hypnos, who we'll meet in The Sun and the Star. There's not as much information in here as there was in the Amphithemus article, but Karen's looking out for all those Nyx references. There's apparently going to be a Lightning Thief tie-in edition. Plus another Camp Half-Blood Confidential? It's been one whole year since Walker has been cast, and it feels both like an eternity and no time at all. Did you catch the video of Timothy Omundson talking about being cast as Hephaestus in Percy Jackson and the Olympians? Because it's pretty great. Are you Team Kristen or Team Kristen's Brother? Egyptian mythology in pop culture (00:20:13) Kristen kicks us off with an Easter classic—The 10 Commandments. She explains what it's about and some of its shortcomings. Apparently there are a lot of drapes? It doesn't have mythology, per se, but there are a lot of cultural aspects to the film. Karen's gotta talk about The Mummy (1999), of course. This kicked off her interest in Egyptian mythology. The flashbacks to Ancient Egypt were probably not super accurate, but interesting, nonetheless. We don't talk about The Mummy 3. Or the Mummy reboot. Or The Scorpion King. Next up is Prince of Egypt, Kristen's second pick. This one is animated! It also contains a chariot race explaining why the Sphinx is missing a nose. Moon Knight is a much more recent property dealing in Egyptian mythology. Watching this show really got Karen excited about reading The Kane Chronicles. They also highlighted a lot of lesser known Egyptian deities. You can't talk about Egyptian mythology in pop culture without mentioning Indiana Jones! Specifically, The Lost Ark. They also have to find the last piece to the Staff of Ra! The Map Room at Tanis shows a lot of hieroglyphics and iconography. Have you ever heard of the book series Everworld by K.A. Applegate? Gods and monsters and heroes from different pantheons all exist in the same world! Egyptian mythology definitely existed, but Karen mostly remembers Hel from Realm of the Reaper. Next up is Night at the Museum, which actually did a lot of things right by Egyptian culture and mythology. Karen also learned something knew about SHAZAM and Black Adam. Do you have any other suggestions of books, movies, or TV that talk about Egyptian mythology? The Kane Chronicles: The Red Pyramid (00:56:39) This week, we're reading The Red Pyramid chapter 6. Kristen totally called that sleeping without the headrest was a mistake. We got our first Prophecy Count of The Kane Chronicles! How many gods were released? How many are on the board right now? Is Bast the one that's weak and easily manipulated? Karen went down a rabbit hole about dreaming in black and white. Karen knows what it's like to wake up to a cat on her chest. What's up with Sadie and Carter's clothes? We really enjoyed the moment where Carter discussed why he dresses the way he does. Khufu's meal choices are interesting… What do we know about lapis lazuli, and will it be important? We are big fans of Philip of Macedonia. Will there be invisible pets in the future? We finally, FINALLY get some answers!! Are Egyptian gods still worshipped? Can you compare the supercharged relics to the Spoils of War from Percy Jackson? It's sad that Carter never knew the stakes when it came to his life on the road with his father. We finally know why Sadie and Carter were separated! The Duat is such an interesting concept, with such incredible imagery. Someone's totally gonna trick them into opening the door. Feedback (01:27:09) Seaweed Brain Podcast got us thinking about the future of Nico and Bianca. Remember to send us your unhinged The Sun and the Star theories! Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 80, in which we'll talk about The 39 Clues: The Maze of Bones (the graphic novel) and chat with Ethan Young before discussing The Red Pyramid chapter 7. We are producing a new series of episodes for Afterlives of Ancient Egypt called “Artifact Stories,” in which we choose one thing—be it art, artifact, architecture, etc.—and dive into the details in order to see what insights and perspectives we can draw from it. For each of these episodes we will be publishing a companion post on our Substack, Ancient/Now. In our first spotlight discussion we are featuring an object whose diminutive size belies the significance of the story it tells about the reign of the 4th Dynasty king, Khufu (ca. 2589-2566 BCE), who most people know as the builder of the Great Pyramid of Giza. To see photos of the statuette, visit Ancient/Now. Check out ancientnow.substack.com!!

On this episode of the world famous Sofa King Podcast, we talk about one of the most famous structures on planet earth—The Great Sphinx of Giza. The Sphinx is old. It is really old, but nobody knows exactly how ancient it is. Popular beliefs put it at 4500 years old, built by the Pharaoh Khafre. Others say it was built by that pharaoh's father, Khufu. Yet others claim it was discovered by Khufu and is centuries older than either of them. This monument has been subject to vandalism, erosion, and centuries buried under the sand. Was there any truth to Edgar Cayce's predictions about hidden Atlantean artifacts? What is the water erosion theory, and how does that potentially change the age of the Sphinx? How far is it from the nearest Pizza Hut? Listen, laugh, learn? On this episode we casually hold our hand over our brow as we inquisitively stare into the glare of the midday sun; searching for an ancient truth in a barren land and uncovering possibly the ultimate mysteries of our creation, our civilisation and the nature of our planet in this episode all about The Mystery of the Pyramids. From the classic pyramid on the Giza plateau in Egypt to the buried pyramids under the lush undulating hills of Bosnia, the wide sprawling once thriving civilisations in deepest South American jungles or the diligently preserved and revered monasteries and holy structures in Asia; the pyramid has endured as a symbol of a time that came before and a way of life for humanity that has been forgotten. These fantastic structures have withstood the test of time; of war, greed, and wanton destruction; only to leave behind a mystery that is almost unfathomable. The clues found in these wonders of the world, are the steps closer we desperately want to take in fully understand where we can from and what our purpose is. Clues like the sacred geometry found in the great pyramid of Khufu; or the ancient carvings on walls long left untouched by human hands. These mega structures are found all over the globe and they hold great significance to our current age by communicating through the universal language of mathematics and showing us that a once presumed primitive people, were actually much more advanced than ever thought possible. With measurements that depict the astrological distances of the sun, moon and stars and even some other very complicated scientific concepts; these megalithic measurement markers are a definite proof of the existence of ancient civilisations much more advanced that we thought. More mysterious still are the newly minted concepts of an even more ancient civilisation than the Egyptians, who created the pyramids and the thriving civilisations that built them. The Giza pyramids and The Sphinx showing signs of a much older creation date; mean that there is a hidden history of the human species and the power that these ancient people created is still present in our modern world. _____________________ This podcast is supported by the generous donations of the wonderful folks over at Patreon.
