Nurse leader, You gave everything today. Now it's time to give it to God. If you're listening to this on your commute home — in your car, on the train, walking to your front door — this episode was made for this exact moment. You just survived a shift that had no business being that hard. You were in charge. The floor was chaos. There was a patient loss, coworker conflict, impossible decisions made in seconds, and nurses running on empty. And somehow, you were the one holding it all together. Your body is exhausted. Your nervous system is still activated. And if you go to sleep without releasing what you absorbed today, you'll carry it into tomorrow — because the body keeps the score. In this Breathe & Be Still episode, we do something simple and sacred: we release it all through guided breath prayer — and receive the peace God promises in return. In this episode, you'll: Move through a 3-minute guided breath prayer rooted in Philippians 4:6-7 Learn why releasing post-shift emotions isn't weakness — it's nervous system wisdom and biblical obedience Discover the difference between true shalom and just "being tired" Stop the rumination loop so your mind and body can actually restore overnight This episode is for you if: You're a nurse, charge nurse, or nurse leader coming off a hard shift You struggle to "turn off" your brain after work You've experienced patient loss, compassion fatigue, or secondary trauma You're a faith-based nurse looking for a spiritual practice that actually fits your life You want to protect your peace without toxic positivity or empty self-care advice Scripture Featured:

Good morning! Let's find our center together. Today is Day 3 of our 7-Day Cortisol Reset, and we are using the "Navy SEAL" standard for nervous system regulation: The Box Breath. We're moving from the 'airy' feeling of stress into the solid foundation of the earth. In This Episode: The Stability of the Square: Why a 4-count breath is the fastest way to lower cortisol. Ancient Grounding Rituals: How the four directions and sacred geometry can help us feel unshakable. The 4-4-4-4 Practice: A guided session to anchor your energy and clear the 'mental fog.' A Message for Your Heart: My dear friend, if you feel like you've been carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders lately, please hear this: You do not have to be the one who holds it all together today. It is okay to be 'heavy.' It is okay to be still. So often, we mistake our 'busy-ness' for our worth, but your soul knows better. Your soul knows that you are most powerful when you are most centered. Today, as you practice your breath, I want you to imagine you are laying down all those heavy bags you've been carrying at the edge of the woods. The earth is big enough to hold them for you. You are allowed to just be the person sitting in the chair, breathing in the quiet. You are enough, exactly as you are, right here in the center of your square. This is day 3 of a 7-day meditation series, "The 7-Day Cortisol Reset," episodes 3500-3506. THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE - THE 20-MINUTE TECH-GAP The Weekly Challenge: Wait exactly 20 minutes after waking up before you touch any digital device. Use that time to breathe, drink your tea, and stay in your "Sovereign Zone." THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY Day 1: VISUALIZATION: CORTISOL RELEASEVisualize roots draining gray "stress energy" into the earth. Day 2: AFFIRMATION: "I am safe in this moment." Day 3: THE BOX BREATH Inhale 4, Hold 4, Exhale 4, Hold 4. (The Navy SEAL standard for lowering cortisol). Day 4: APANA MUDRA Thumb touches middle and ring fingers. Known as the "Digestion Mudra," it helps the body "process" and eliminate stress. Day 5: THIRD (SOLAR PLEXUS - MANIPURA) CHAKRA Focusing on the "gut feeling" area where we store stress-tension. Day 6: CORTISOL DETOX FLOW MEDITATION: Combining the week's techniques Day 7: WEEKLY REVIEW MEDITATION: Closure with a review of the week's highs and lows. Most men deal with stress the same way: push through, stay in control, and keep going. But what if the body already has its own built-in way to release stress, and we've simply been taught to suppress it?In this episode I speak with Richmond Heath, a physiotherapist and one of the pioneers of Trauma Release Exercises (TRE) in Australia. Richmond's interest in this work began with his own experience of chronic pain and high-functioning anxiety, which traditional treatments never fully resolved. His turning point came during a meditation retreat when his body began to move and release tension on its own, an experience that led him to explore how the nervous system stores stress and how the body can regulate itself. We discuss what TRE is and how it works: a simple method that activates the body's natural tremor reflex to help release deep tension and calm the nervous system. In this conversation, you'll learn:why stress and trauma are not just mental experiences but physical patterns held in the body.how chronic tension can quietly drive pain, anxiety, and exhaustion.why humans instinctively suppress shaking and trembling even though it's a natural recovery response.how TRE helps the body down-regulate stress and restore balance.why learning to let go of control can sometimes be more powerful than trying to manage everything. This episode is not about quick fixes. It's about understanding how the body and nervous system actually recover from stress and how reconnecting with that process can change the way we approach well-being, resilience, and midlife transitions. For anyone feeling worn down by constant pressure or curious about the deeper connection between stress and the body, this conversation offers a thoughtful introduction to an approach that many people have never encountered before. To find out more about TRE just search online. Have you ever said yes to something you technically had time for… only to feel emotionally drained afterward? You weren’t overbooked. You weren’t incapable. And yet something felt heavy. If helping others leaves you exhausted — even when you’re good at it — your stress may be telling you something deeper. In this episode, Bonnie explores why emotional exhaustion is often an identity signal rather than just a workload problem. Through one encounter with Jesus and a fresh look at Isaiah 43, you’ll discover the better question to ask when you feel tired — and the new thing God may be inviting you to step into. Hello Beautiful, I'm so grateful you're here with me.
Have you been pushing through something important… but without joy?Sometimes we do all the right things — show up, work hard, stay responsible — and yet something still feels heavy. What if joy isn’t a luxury add-on to life, but a signal your soul needs to pay attention to?In this episode, Bonnie shares the powerful story behind Olympic gold medalist Alysa Liu’s decision to step away from skating — and how her return reveals something essential about wellness. Together, we explore what Psalm 23 teaches about restoration, why joy matters more than achievement, and how returning to “green pastures” can change the way you make decisions. You’ll also learn how singing familiar hymns can calm your nervous system and become a simple, powerful practice for peace. Hello Beautiful, I'm so grateful you're here with me.
Do you ever feel responsible for fixing things the moment they appear?Maybe it’s not big anxiety. It’s just a subtle, steady pressure to reply, fix, improve, or mentally process everything the moment it appears. That quiet activation can keep your nervous system on alert all day long.In today’s episode, Bonnie shares a personal story about how even “rest” can quietly turn into another performance — and how learning to say “Not now” helped her lower background stress and retrain the urgency reflex. This episode explores micro-activation stress — the hidden pressure to treat every thought like a task — and why small, non-productive moments may be exactly what your nervous system needs to reset. Do you find yourself avoiding something important — not because you don’t care, but because fear rises in your body every time you think about it? Even when we know we’re safe, fear can linger in our nervous system. Our body tightens. Our breath shortens. And instead of moving forward, we quietly push the fear away — carrying the stress on our own. In today’s episode, Bonnie shares a deeply personal story about facing a long-held fear not by pushing herself to be brave, but by allowing care and God’s presence to meet her where fear lived in her body. Welcome to Day 1 of your Neuro Reset—the week-three reset your mind and nervous system have been craving. Today's arc is RELEASE, and we'll begin by letting go of the invisible "open tabs" in your head: the to-do list, the what-ifs, the pressure, the replaying. In this guided meditation, you'll anchor to one simple point—your breath or sound—and practice returning gently, again and again. No forcing. No fixing. Just releasing the noise and making space to feel more like yourself. Come as you are. All you have to do is listen… and release. This is day 1 of a 7-day meditation series, "7-Day Neuro Reset to Calm Your Nervous System," episodes 3444-3450. ABOUT THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY: Welcome to a brand-new 7-day series on the Daily Meditation Podcast: Neuro Reset—created for that very real moment when the New Year is still here… but your nervous system is already asking for a gentle reboot. Because Week 3 can be a turning point. The excitement of fresh starts fades, your routines get a little wobbly, and your mind starts opening extra tabs: What if I'm behind? What if I can't keep this up? What if I need to start over? If you've felt that, you're not doing anything wrong. It's simply your brain and body recalibrating. This week is designed to help you reset from the inside out—with short, practical meditations that support emotional balance, stress relief, clearer focus, better sleep, and a steadier mood. We'll work with simple tools that calm the nervous system and help you come back to yourself—again and again—without pressure. Each day has an arc and a focus, and today we begin with the arc of Release—releasing mental clutter, tension, and the "I should be doing more" energy… so you can feel lighter, clearer, and more supported moving forward. So settle in. You don't have to force calm. You're simply practicing a reset—one breath at a time. THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE - "The 7-Day Neurocycle Reset Challenge" Every day: 10 minutes (2 minutes breath + 6 minutes guided Neurocycle step + 2 minutes journaling). THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY Day 1: Refresh Visualization Day 2: Affirmation: "Clarity and calm begin with each new step." Day 3: Coherent Breathing: Inhale ~5 seconds, exhale ~5 seconds (no holds), for 3–5 minutes. Why: A steady rhythm is one of the simplest ways to "reset the system." Day 4: Gyan Mudra for clarity Day 5: Fourth Chakra for compassion Day 6: Neuro Reset Flow meditation, combining the week's techniques Day 7: Weekly review meditation and closure Welcome to this special series: Refresh — a gentle, powerful reset for the start of a brand new year. If you've been craving that clean-slate feeling—not just on your calendar, but inside your mind and in the way you live—this is for you. Because a new year isn't only a date. It's an invitation. To clear what's been cluttering your inner space… to come back to what matters… and to choose how you want to feel as you move forward. Over the next seven episodes, we're going to refresh seven key areas of your life—not with pressure, perfection, or a long list of goals… but with inner clarity. Think of this series like opening the windows of your life and letting fresh air move through every room. Each day, we'll focus on one area—simple, practical, and deeply supportive. You'll be guided through: a short, grounding insight to create perspective a few reflective prompts to clarify what's true for you right now and a calming meditation to help you integrate the shift—so this becomes something you feel, not just something you think about This isn't about fixing yourself. You're not behind. You don't need to become someone else to have a meaningful year. This is about coming home to yourself—and gently updating the way you live, so your days match the person you're becoming. So wherever you are—making coffee, sitting in your car, walking outside, or curled up in a quiet corner—take a breath and let this be your beginning. Welcome to your refresh. Let's start the year with clarity… and create a life that feels clean, aligned, and truly yours. SHARE YOUR MEDITATION JOURNEY WITH YOUR FELLOW MEDITATORS Let's connect and inspire each other! Stress isn't just something you think about. It's something your body carries.Every interruption.Every transition.Every responsibility and unspoken emotional load.Your nervous system responds to all of it — and if stress never gets discharged, it doesn't disappear. It settles. It accumulates. In this episode, we're talking about why releasing stress from the body is non-negotiable — and how to do it in ways that are fast, practical, and deeply regulating. You'll learn:✔️ Why unresolved stress — not stress itself — is what exhausts your nervous system✔️ How stored tension lives in your muscles, breath, jaw, and fascia✔️ Three simple somatic techniques that help your body complete the stress cycle✔️ How daily stress discharge lowers reactivity, improves clarity, and restores capacityThis isn't about “calming down” or positive thinking. It's about giving your nervous system what it was biologically designed to do:move stress through instead of storing it inside. If you've been holding it together, powering through, and wondering why your body still feels tight, wired, or heavy — this episode will help you release what you were never meant to carry alone.Related Episodes:Previous EpisodeUnlocking Calm Powerful Somatic Practices to Shift out of Fight, Flight or FreezeBurnout Recovery Blueprint (Part 2): Get Out of Your Head and Into Your Body3 Somatic Practices for Anxiety: Why They Work & How to Do Them5 Somatic Techniques to Regulate When You're Feeling Overwhelmed-- Burnout Recovery Blueprint starts again in January - check it out! As we come together in this moment, I emphasize the importance of guided meditation as a powerful tool on the healing journey. Many of us experience emotional, physical, or spiritual suffering that stems from our tendency to dwell on the past or fret about the future. This constant state of hyper-alertness can lead to exhaustion and disconnection from the peace we seek. Guided meditation offers a gentle navigation back to that tranquility, allowing us to release the strain of overthinking and rest in the present. The meditation I lead invites listeners to embrace a state of calmness. I encourage participants to step away from their daily activities and distractions and embark on this restorative journey. I share the concept of offering our nervous system a guiding hand, which allows us to soften and receive comfort instead of striving or giving. The guided nature of this meditation enables a deeper state of rest, helping to invigorate the body's natural healing processes. As we commence our meditation, participants are invited to find a position that feels supportive and to engage in mindful breathing. They are guided to visualize their worries settling like snowflakes, creating tranquility and stillness. I use imagery, such as a warm, golden light representing hope, to foster feelings of warmth and solace. This light symbolizes a gentle invitation to cherish the joy of the season, even when it seems out of reach. With each breath in, listeners draw this light closer, allowing it to bring comfort to any tightness or exhaustion they feel.#GuidedMeditation #Mindfulness #Meditation #Breathwork #InnerPeace #Relaxation #Calm #Healing #PresentMoment #SelfCare #AnxietyRelief #StressReduction #CalmNervousSystem #RestAndRestore #MentalHealth #EmotionalHealing #LettingGo #ChristmasEve #HolidayMeditation #ChristmasPeace #Hope #HolidayCalm #WinterVibes #QuietJoy #HolidayStressRelief #AnxietyCoachesPodcast #GinaRyan #PodcastMeditation #SleepAid #HopeAndJoy #Softness #Receiving #SelfLove #Tranquility #BeHeld #ACPSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
