7 Hard Questions You're Not Asking Your Customers Part of an effective and successful selling process is being inquisitive. Are you and your team asking the hard questions because hard questions close deals. When Grant started his first business at the age of 29, he anticipated that it would take him about three months to get the income he previously had. But it wound up taking about three years. By the time Grant was three months in, he'd nearly quit and not because of the money. It was because of the amount of resistance and disappointment he way experiencing. It left him feeling lost… Looking back now, Grant says he wasn’t asking the right questions, I wasn’t taking enough risks, and I wasn’t closing as many sales as I wanted because I didn’t have the right answers because I wasn't asking hard questions…" but now he does and we're going to be sharing some with you. https://cardonesolutions.com/hard-questions/

Grant had to do a lot of work to get his mind right. In fact everyone who’s ever created a large amount of success had to do a lot of work to get their mind right. When Grant was a kid, scarcity was all around him. He was told to be happy with what I had, that we were better off than so many others. Both his mom and dad thought the same way. Thinking like they did would have never given Grant the life that he has today. Now he can help many more people than he could if he’d have adopted his parent’s mindset. When you think small, you focus and worry about YOUR problems...

In Part 6 of the Who or What Series, on The Only Business Networking Podcast on iTunes, Grant Cardone a New York Times Bestselling author and real estate mogul who’s affected hundreds of billions of dollars in sales, Caleb Maddix, a 16 year old millionaire and bestselling author and Jill Stanton from Screw the Nine to Five, talk to your host Travis Chappell about whether who or what you know is more important, and why they feel that way. Episode Highlights: Grant Cardone Connections accellerate everything. How Grant did networking incorrectly in the beginning. If you are committed to greatness and making other people great it edifies you. When Grant wrote a check to Mandalay Bay for $4 million dollars, he provided speakers with a built-in audience. Flow power to power. The guy that helps broken people over and over is broken, you want to help people who are helping themselves. #1 networking tip - make a list of who you want to connect with. Don’t just go get a job, go work for someone. Jill Stanton Jill tells a story of when a connection led to a moment of success. How far behind Jill would be in her business without her mentors. Why Jill thinks people network with the wrong motives. It creates a more genuine relationship with people when you focus on the relationship. Caleb Maddix Caleb’s dad was always pushing him out of his comfort zone. You’ll never get to know the who, if you don’t know the what of how to do it. How important it is to associate with people who are a few levels up from you. Getting around the right people is important because of who you become by associating with them. The best way to get out of an awkward conversation. Never apologize for approaching someone, shake their hand and ask a unique question. Have confidence, respect, and hunger. 3 Key Points: You need money, connections, and support, you can’t get places on your own. When you’re networking, don’t prioritize the ask, prioritize the relationships. You won’t get to know the “who” if you don’t have a “what.” Tweetable Quotes: “Connections accelerate everything, if you’re not first you’re last.” -Grant Cardone “You need to eat with kings and queens and power players.” -Grant Cardone “A network with a bunch of weak people is not a network.” -Grant Cardone “I know that relationships pay off, it’s happened for me many times.” -Jill Stanton “You have to get through the pain to get the prize.” -Caleb Maddix “When you learn how to do something the right way, you can be around anyone you want.” -Caleb Maddix “You don’t have to be a celebrity or influencer to be a successful, important person.” -Matt Maddix Resources Mentioned: Visit Travis’ website at Join the Build Your Network Facebook group BYN.media/fb (http://www.buildyournetwork.co/fb/) Get your free mastermind course from Travis here: Freemmcourse.com/enroll (http://www.freemmcourse.com/join) Enroll in Travis’ VIP day experience (https://travischappell.typeform.com/to/Lm38Rt) . 113 | Grant Sabatier from Millennial Money and author of Financial Freedom, shares his story of unemployment and entrepreneurship, and his strategies for increasing your income and optimizing your finances. In 2010, with a college degree in philosophy Grant had been laid off twice and found himself living at home as 24-year-old. Grant sent out more than 200 resumes without a single callback before he found the information he needed to start learning Google Ad campaigns. The certification process took about 30 days and he received a job offer almost immediately. The first step to getting out of a rut is being honest enough to admit that you’re stuck. Most people are only 2 or 3 steps away from a life that they’d love. A million dollars could be 10 years away; just take the next step. When Grant looked at all his friends and his parents’ friends, they were stressed about money so he decided to learn how to do it differently. Grant learned how to build Wordpress websites and began selling his services to law firms, quickly securing large contracts at lower prices than large agencies. Grant’s first client became his most valuable client because he served as a credible reference for more than a year. How does Grant recommend getting your first client? What matters is helping your client look good to their boss. Selling is story telling – who you are as a person is more important that what you’re selling. The paradox of the gig economy is that many people are actually less flexible and more stressed about getting their next client than they would be working a 9-5. Whether you’re happy with your current job or not, optimizing your finances through your full-time job is where you need to start. Talking to recruiters in your particular industry will give insight into the direction the industry is moving, what parts of your resume might be lacking, and the market value of your work. How does Grant maintain relationships with recruiters? Face-to-face meetings Taking people out to lunch Form an actual relationship, don’t just try to get something from them. For Grant, forcing someone into a budget that cuts out small things like wine and coffee just reinforces a scarcity mindset. The only way to get from a 5% to a 30% savings rate is to decrease your housing, transportation and food costs. There is a limit to how much someone can cut back, but making money is unlimited. Grant invested 100% of his side hustle income. For more information, visit the show notes at https://ChooseFI.com/113
I’m so honored to have the one and only, Grant Cardone, as a guest today as he’s inspired me for the last 20 years of my life. Sounds crazy, but after dropping out of college and getting into the car business, I was selected to hear him speak at an event about sales. It was game-changing for me because it made me realize I wanted to do more than sell cars – I wanted to be the person on the stage. Fast forward to the present and I’ve had the privilege of speaking on stage and have Grant to thank for it. As an international sales expert and NY Times Best-Selling Author, I’m in awe of Grant’s no-nonsense approach to both life and wealth/business. Whether he succeeds or makes mistakes, he equally owns both 100%. But Grant wasn’t always a wealthy sales mastermind. From his late teens to early 20s, he was self-admittedly selfish. After a brief stint in rehab, he made the choice do something about the disappointment he felt and turned it around. Since that time, Grant never settles for what he has and strives to do better and better so he can be around 200-300 years after he’s gone through his books and courses. His goal and passion are to help others grow their wealth and make their lives easier. With the packed house his upcoming 10X Growth Conference promises, I’d say he’s doing just that. Don’t miss this inspirational, but brutally honest conversation with Grant. I can almost guarantee that it will make you want to do more when it comes to taking action to increase your wealth – and your giving. -- Question Highlights: You don’t always have to like what you’re doing, but it can still be good for you and put you on your path – can you expand on this idea? Where does your drive to be great in all areas come from? Do you still feel disappointed in yourself after all you’ve accomplished? Why should each of us become as wealthy as possible? Why do people struggle with having a strong money mindset? What’s the best way to make money today and how does it relate to Cardone Capital? When did you decide to stop letting other people’s opinions matter? Who do you study? Who motivates you? Is it easier to invest in someone else’s fund or would you rather do it on your own and make mistakes? What will people learn at the 10X Growth Conference? Who is the event for? How has generosity impacted your success? In This Episode We Talk about: Why more people should be dissatisfied with their lives Getting great in the space you’re in until you can movie into the next level What it means to have a scarcity mindset Why so many are mis-educated about money The importance of a second or third stream of income When Grant decided to value his time more than his money How and why we need to continue the cycle of action and giving And so much more… Grant’s Thoughts… “I wanna be the guy on stage and working for the world.” “We’re never playing above our game.” “If you don’t love money, you’re never going to get it.” “I’m certain about my mistakes and I’m certain about my successes.” “We should be inspired by people’s successes – not hate on them.” -- CEO of 5 privately held companies with annual revenues of over $100 Million Real Estate Investor with a portfolio of over 4,000 units. As a stepdad of three children, Grant Belcher of the Sunshine Coast in Australia knew that his role was to show his kids the possibilities for their lives. He’ll discuss how his kids reacted to him becoming their stepdad and his philosophy of treating his stepkids as his own. He’ll talk about how he developed an emotional connection to his kids and learned to put their needs first. Finally, Grant will talk about the benefits of helping his kids to better understand themselves and showing them different “models” for how to live. Self Publishing School : Learn How To Write A Book And Grow Your Business
Grant Cardone is a New York Times bestselling author of five business books. Grant is among the top 10 social media influencers. He owns and operates four companies, and is the creator of a top sales training program with the world’s most visited online sales training university. He has worked with the U.S. Pentagon and high profile companies like Salesforce, LinkedIn, and Google. We have an exciting conversation about how to use books to grow a business. Grant was inspired by his father's love for calligraphy and writing and wanted to write a book since he was eight years old. He didn’t actually write one until he was 51 years old. Prior to that, he did write a bunch of training programs and workbooks on changes in the sales process. Then he wrote Sale or Be Sold which took him three hours to write. He pitched this book to a couple of publishers with no luck. He ended up self-publishing, and it is now in the top 1% of self-published books. Grant shares his experience with writing, selling, and promoting multiple products. You can find Grant here: Sale or Be Sold Cardone University Books by Grant Cardone Grant on Facebook @GrantCardone on Twitter GrantCardone.com Show Notes [02:49] Grant had a lifetime of information just waiting to come out, and he used it to write his first book in 3 hours. [04:01] He wrote the book and wrote the chapters out. At the time, you want to be a seller, not a buyer to get money. He just shared what he knew and didn't overthink it. [06:03] When you finish your book, you are never done with producing great information. That's where the subsequent books came from. [07:40] The challenge with books is getting someone to read it. [09:03] There are many people who aren't readers, so create a quick read, a video, and audio version. Do what it takes to make the information consumable. [09:57] The trick in writing is to stop worrying about the writing and focus on the selling. [12:25] Grant does a video show every day to put on social media. He doesn't care whether you like him or not. He wants you to know who he is and benefit from one of his products. [14:00] The thinker loses to the doer. Be willing to sell to get your products noticed. [19:30] Grant's readers now go back and want to listen to his other books. [20:37] When Grant was young, he had issues with substance abuse, but he cleaned up his act when he was 25 years old. [22:07] In 2009, Grants real estate business was almost wiped out. The bank he owed money to went under and the new bank wanted the money. Grant was 51, and that is when he decided to become disciplined. [24:23] You need to have other products besides your books. Think about how to get an idea to people. [26:53] He creates ebooks about his books and webinars and other products to get the information out there. [27:53] A book is a calling card the legitimacy is in the range of products. Market, sell, and promote multiple products. [31:34] Reaching out to a specific product with an item that appeals to them. Be confident and sell. [32:25] You can also build a product to appeal to a market or show you would like to be on. [36:22] Grant is a master at setting hooks and getting people to pay attention. Regardless of whether they like him or not. [38:53] A surprise speaking gig that made 100k was a result of one of Grant's books. [40:57] Writing to market and to sell, not to write. Chubby! on Facebook: www.facebook.com/chubbyrecords Mike Grant/Moods & Grooves on Facebook: goo.gl/IIyWhD @mikegrant50 http://www.big50entertainment.com/ At the end of the 1990s, Mike Grant re-emerged as one of the leading figures in Detroit’s growing house scene after spending the majority of the decade and late ‘80s pursuing other ambitions. When Grant’s fresh Moods & Grooves label began raising more than a few eyebrows with its catalog of releases by many of Detroit’s best house producers, few knew that he has been a key figure in the Motor City’s early to mid-‘80s electronic dance scene as a talented DJ. Grant is one of the few Detroit DJs who plays complete deep house/house or techno sets as well as a mixture. While traveling throughout Europe Grant earned the distinction as being the first American DJ to have a residency at Tresor Club in Berlin. Grant’s musical career began at an early age, influenced by Detroit’s fledging music scene and his uncle, the general manager at a local R&B/dance radio station, WKWM. By 1980, the young Grant had joined a DJ collective known as Men of Music while becoming close friends with schoolmate Blake Baxter. Baxter showed Grant the art of beat mixing while the two made mix tapes after school, and Grant eventually joined Baxter’s DJ group, The Beat Sound Company. A few years later in 1983, Grant was scoring club residencies in Detroit alongside legends such as Ken Collier and also managed to make appearances on The Scene, a video dance show on WGPR alongside even more local DJs such as Jeff Mills. During this mid-‘80s era, Grant’s reputation as one of the city’s top DJs led to eventual friendships and partnerships with many of that eras other top DJs, most notably Eddie Fowlkes, Derrick May, and Juan Atkins. During the summer of 1985, he became a member of Detroit’s first radio mix show, “Street Beat,” where the foundation for what would later become early Detroit techno was ultimately formed. Prior to the Street Beat show, Grant made a commitment to join the military not knowing what doors would eventually open. During this time in the military, he continued to DJ on the base and in Seattle, where he introduced the sounds of Detroit techno to the unsuspecting West Coast. Following his time in the military, Grant then studied telecommunications in Chicago and began his career in this same field, while occasionally returning to his hometown for the occasional performance. In the late ‘90s, Grant planned his return, beginning with a recording as Black Noise on Metroplex Records, titled “Nature of the Beast.” Rather than just DJ and produce tracks, he went to the lengths of starting his own label, Moods & Grooves, and began releasing the work of his peers as well as his own. By mid-2000, the label had received substantial acclaim – including a high-profile appearance by Grant at the landmark Detroit Electronic Music Festival. In 2001 Grant launched the techno based label End to End and urban sounding Afrosyntrix. Additionally, he’s remixed the Detroit classic “Sharevari,” been selected to perform at Midem’s Electronic Showcase, selected and participated in DEMF/Movement, and included in the “Techno – Detroit’s Gift To the World” exhibit at the Detroit Historical Museum.

A Way with Words — language, linguistics, and callers from all over
[This episode first aired May 10, 2008.]We all misspeak from time to time, but how about when we mangle words on purpose? Do you ever say 'fambly' instead of family, 'perazackly' for exactly, or 'coinkydink' for coincidence? When Grant recently wrote a newspaper column about saying things wrong on purpose, the response was enormous. Why is it that many people find such wordplay hard to resist? We consider this question and share their own favorite examples.A Pennsylvania minister is curious about a phrase her family uses: 'by way of Robin Hood's barn' or 'around Robin Hood's barn,' meaning a long, circuitous route. How do you pronounce the architectural term 'beaux arts'? (Yep, Grant accidentally left of the final S when he spelled the term on the air.) Is it pronounced 'boh-ZART,' 'boh-ART,' 'boh-ZAR,' or 'boh-ZARTS'? We settle a dispute between a New Jersey woman and her nephew. Martha shares the winners of a contest for Best Book Titles of the Year. Or would that be Oddest Book Titles of the Year?Quiz Guy John Chaneski presents a puzzle in which we remove the first letter of a phrase to yield another with a different meaning. Try one: originally it was a boxing film starring Robert De Niro. Now it describes a head of cattle that's perhaps getting on in years.A Wisconsin woman is trying to remember 'a term for paths in the grass created by pedestrians taking shortcuts.'
