This was a really fun breakdown with Casey O'Donnell to discuss the second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs. The BMW Championship tournament was held at Olympia Fields in Chicago and it was a really tough course that had most players scrambling just to make pars. The winning score was -4 compared to last weeks win by Dustin Johnson at -30. Speaking of DJ the World # 1 and Fedex Cup # 1 was in the drivers seat early on in the final round as he started the day tied for the lead. He then proceeded to birdie 3 of the first four holes to give himself a cushion. There were other golfers who played solid golf and threatened the top of the leaderboard but it was the World # 2 Jon Rahm who emerged as the leader in the clubhouse at -4. DJ had to drain a 43 foot putt on the 72nd hole to force a playoff. The two of them went back to the 18th tee and played the last hole again. When they hit the green with their approach shots DJ looked to be in the much better position. When Jon Rahm read his putt and sent it on its way I don't think anyone expected it to go in but that is what happened. The 66 and 1/2 foot bomb won him the tournament as DJ wasn't able to match his shot. With the top players in the world playing so well this bodes well for East Lake in Boston next week for the Tour Championship and the finale of the FedEx Cup playoffs. The top 30 made it into that tournament and should provide us with amazing golf starting on Friday with the Monday Labor Day finish. It was a real battle to get into the top 30 and Canadian Mackenzie Hughes just made it by sinking a tough five footer for par on his last hole of the tournament. Billy Horschel made it in thirtieth place after Canadian Corey Conners three putted from five feet to fall into a tie and give Horschel the spot by less than a point. All thirty now qualify for all of the majors and World Golf Championships and the Tournament of Champions. The format now has Dustin Johnson starting the first day at 10 under par Jon Rahm will be in second at 8 under, Justin Thomas third at seven under par and so on. The players sitting in the 26th through 30th place will start at even par ten shots back of DJ. It should lend to a very interesting tournament and have the golfers who are the best in the world currently battling it on for the top prize of $15 Million dollars and big paycheques for all with a purse of $60 Million. Enjoy the golf Take care Love yah Bye for now.

Sin embargo, las autoridades afirmaron que gran parte del dinero enviado desde Venezuela ya ha sido transferido a instituciones ubicadas fuera de Bulgaria, según el reporte de The New York Times. Holly G and special guest host Jeff Shain from PGATour.com are in the studio talking about Rickie Fowler's win at The Players Championship winning in a three-man playoff. It was Fowler's second win on the PGA Tour. Jeff says that it might have been the most compelling Players Championship that he has seen in the 15 years he has been covering golf. Holly and Jeff also talk about how the tournament was fantastic as no one who was really in contention seem to fade as with other tournaments. There were like 12 groups that had to be watched. Jeff said that Rickie had to wait an hour to see if his numbers would hold up while waiting on everyone to finish. Holly talks with Jeff about Kevin Kisner being so close as capturing The Players Championship. Jeff said that it seemed like Kisner's putt was going to fall but it just seemed to defy gravity and hold on preventing him from winning. Holly likens Kisner to Raymond Floyd and Jeff thinks he is more of a bulldog like Jim Furyk. Bob Harig, ESPN.com, calls in and talks with Holly and Jeff about the Players Championship. Like Holly G, Bob picked Sergio Garcia. Sergio had a two-shot lead and then Fowler caught fire. At the press conference after the event was over, Bob said that Sergio seemed okay with what happened but he's probably kicking himself for back 9 and didn't birdie either par 5s. Kisner and Fowler birdied hole and Sergio didn't in the playoff. Jeff asks Bob Harig about Kisner. Bob says maybe the "golf gods" owe Kisner one for how close he was with some of the putts that would just hang there and not drop. But it's not like he's been giving these tournaments away ...getting beaten by season players. Holly and Bob talk about Rickie Fowler maybe coming in to The Players Championship under the radar. Bob sugested that maybe up until the back 9 on Sunday, Fowler was under the radar. Even though it's been talked about a lot since Fowler won his first Tour event, Bob thinks Fowler was more over-hyped not overrated. Jeff, Bob and Holly G discuss Rickie seemingly playing his best golf in the toughest fields like the Major championships or the World Golf Championships ... rising to the competition. Bob talked about the rise of Ian Poulter. People say he's overrated but Bob feels that Ian came from nothing and believes he's doing pretty well for someone who wasn't a star on their team before turning pro. The young guns are stepping up and playing well with some of the older players winning too. Good for the game. Todd Lewis, The Golf Chanel calls in and speaks with Jeff and Holly G about Fowler. Todd likes Rickie's determined play. He feels that that Butch Harmon has worked with Rickie's swing and improved it. Also has Rickie develop that killer instinct and a "go for your throat mentality" with Butch. Todd stressed that you saw that instinct in the final holes of The Players final round and the playoff. Jeff asks Todd about Tiger and his game now. Todd is surprised that Tiger is not playing more competitive golf and feels Tiger needs to play more rounds. Lance Ringler, Golfweek, calls in to wrap up the hour talking about the NCAA Division 1 Championships that will be played at The Concession in Bradenton, Florida. The women's field is already set and at the time the show aired on May 13, 2015, the men had 6 regional tourneys under way. Men's completion is unlike any other. Not really any club that have separated themselves from the rest of the pack like in years past. Lance says that the women's side has a lot of parody too. Women going to team match play this team match play. Ringler commented that for first time see a team outside top 6 could win national championship in women's golf. Lance told Holly and Jeff that it has been a long time since NCAA championships been played in Florida.
This week we review the M2M Russian Open, the British Seniors Open and the RBC Canadian Open. We preview the WGC Bridgestone Invitational including looking back at where the idea for World Golf Championships came from.
Host Holly G and special guest host Jay Golden, teaching Pro at Winter Pines Golf Course in Winter Park are in the studio talking golf. Jay talks about the problem with Tiger's putting and leaving it short. Jay talks about Dave Pelz and his numerous experiments on putting. Pelz's conclusion was that you need to hit a putt with the speed enough to roll past the hole 18 inches. Why were some many putts coming up short? Bob Harig, ESPN.com, calls in from Akron, site of the upcoming World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational and talks about his article on Adam Scott and how he is doing after his Open Championship collapse. Bob and Jay also talk about the equipment in today's game and how it has changed over the years. Holly and Bob also discuss the last major of the season, the PGA Championship at Kiawah Island's Ocean Course. The conditions and how Tiger and others may fare? Jeff Babineau, Editor of Golfweek, calls in and talks about Scott Piercy's ability to outlast the field at the RBC Canadian Open. Jay and Jeff talk about how a major championship should test the player's entire game. Jeff talks about Tiger's conservative approach at the last Major. Holly asks Jeff about the potential upcoming ban on anchoring the putter to your body. Jeff mentions that it's legal at the time according to the rules. Some players are made to feel like they are doing something illegal when they are not. Jeff mentions that he feels that if it keeps people in the game that they should allow it. The trio also talk about Jeff's article on Adam Scott and Stevie Williams getting together after Adam Scott lost the Open and discussing the results. Jeff Shain, Orlando Sentinel, calls in from the Bridgestone to talk to Holly and Jay. Jeff explains what the World Golf Championships are about. It was designed to create avenue that the best golfers could come together and compete more often outside the majors. The trio talk about the WGC Bridgestone right before the final major of the season. It used to be Tiger's tournament. Jay and Jeff discuss Rod Perry who is a local golfer that is now qualified to compete in the upcoming PGA Championship. Jeff wraps up the show talking to Holly about the upcoming Ryder Cup. Jeff feels that it is going to be a lot of fresh faces at Medinah.
