Why Buyers Don't Buy When They're Convinced — They Buy When They Can Predict with Todd Caponi

Impact Pricing

Todd Caponi is the author of The Transparency Sale, The Transparency Sales Leader, and The Four Levers of Negotiating. He advises revenue teams on decision science, transparency, and how buyers actually make decisions. In this episode, Todd challenges one of the biggest assumptions in business: that more information leads to better decisions. Drawing from buyer psychology and real-world sales research, he explains why buyers actively seek out negatives, why perfect pitches create skepticism, and why transparency accelerates trust.   Why You Have to Check Out Today's Podcast: Discover why more information often makes buying decisions harder. Learn why buyers seek out negatives before positives and how transparency can increase trust, shorten sales cycles, and improve win rates. Master the shift from persuasion to prediction so buyers feel confident moving forward instead of getting stuck in analysis paralysis.   "We don't buy when we're convinced. We buy when we can predict." — Todd Caponi   Topics Covered: 01:03 – Why Negotiating Pricing Feels So Unnatural. Todd shares the negotiation breakthrough that led him to embrace transparency instead of traditional sales tactics. 05:18 – Why Buyers Trust Imperfect Solutions More Than Perfect Ones. The consumer research that changed Todd's thinking—and why buyers actively seek out negatives before making decisions. 08:50 – Transparency vs. Honesty: The Difference That Changes Sales Outcomes. What transparency really means and how proactively sharing weaknesses can accelerate trust. 12:15 – The Long Game Wins the Short Game. A debate on incentives, trust, and whether transparency actually benefits individual salespeople. 15:11 – Do Buyers Make Emotional or Logical Decisions? Todd explains why feelings often drive decisions before logic enters the picture. 20:24 – Why B2B Buyers Still Behave Like Consumers. Buying committees, RFPs, and the hidden emotional biases behind supposedly rational decisions. 25:14 – Buyers Don't Buy Products—They Buy Predicted Futures. Mark introduces a powerful framework for understanding how buying decisions really happen. 31:42 – More Information Doesn't Help Buyers—It Makes Decisions Harder. From mail-order catalogs to AI, Todd explains why information overload increases decision friction. 32:35 – The Case for Radical Pricing Transparency. Todd's practical framework for pricing conversations built around volume, commitment, cash flow, and predictability.   Key Takeaways: "Transparency is without asking, I'm going to tell you the truth." — Todd Caponi "The long game wins the long game—but it wins the short game too." — Todd Caponi "More information has never made buying easier. It's always made it harder." — Todd Caponi "True salesmanship is the science of service." — Todd Caponi (quoting Arthur Sheldon)   People & Resources Mentioned: Arthur Sheldon - Early sales philosopher and author of The Art of Selling (1911), whose principle that "true salesmanship is the science of service" remains relevant today. António Damásio - Neuroscientist and author of Descartes' Error, referenced during the discussion on emotion, logic, and decision-making. Northwestern University Research - Consumer behavior research that revealed buyers actively seek out negative reviews and trust products with balanced ratings more than perfect scores. The Transparency Sale - Todd's bestselling book exploring how openness and honesty accelerate buying decisions and improve sales outcomes. The Four Levers of Negotiating - Todd's latest book on transparent negotiation and value creation.   Connect with Todd Caponi: Website: https://toddcaponi.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/toddcaponi/   Connect with Mark Stiving: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stiving/ Email: mark@impactpricing.com

John Smoltz: From the Mound to the Senior Tees The guys kicked things off talking about John Smoltz's move into senior golf. Jeff and Scott broke down how a Hall‑of‑Fame pitcher can suddenly become a legit threat on the Champions Tour — apparently elite hand‑eye coordination doesn't disappear just because you stop throwing 97 mph. Why Your Short Game Deserves More Love Then Jeff went full professor mode, reminding everyone that if you want to score, you'd better learn to putt and chip like you mean it. Scott chimed in with the painful truth: amateurs spend 90% of their time on the range and 10% on the putting green… when it should probably be the other way around. PGA Tour Putting Stats: Prepare to Feel Bad John pulled up some Tour putting numbers, and the room collectively sighed. Tour pros make everything inside eight feet. Amateurs? We think we do… until someone actually measures it. Jeff hammered home the point: If you can't aim your putter, you're basically guessing. And most golfers? They're guessing. Why Club Fitting Isn't Optional Scott jumped in with a sermon on club fitting — especially putters. Lie angle, loft, head shape, grip size… all the stuff amateurs ignore but complain about when they miss a four‑footer Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Gratitude for this incredible game…the friendships it creates...and for you…for making the show part of your weekly routine. To bring that theme to life, I'm joined by three outstanding guests who share their insights, perspectives, and love for the game: First up is our Resident Director of Instruction, Tom Patri, who delivers tips you can take straight to the course—especially around the short game and course management. We also talk about why The Masters is our favorite week in golf, when to play smart versus aggressive, and reflect on legends like Seve Ballesteros and Fred Couples. Then I'm joined by Dr. Bob Winters, “The Confidence Doctor,” who reminds us that the most important part of the game is the six inches between our ears. Bob shares powerful insights on the mental game, tournament preparation, and how gratitude and perspective can positively impact your performance. We wrap things up with "The Bikini Chef" Susan Irby, who brings great energy and practical advice on how to fuel your body during a round. We open with holiday contrasts that say everything about the ride right now: one of us hiking on ice with crampons and a Starbucks in hand, the other stepping out in shorts on a 70-degree Christmas. That contrast becomes a theme as we talk candidly about a slow job search, the quiet power of listener support, and why a team-first approach makes Big BRAG 2026 more rewarding for new riders and veterans alike. We zoom out to the bigger picture too. A shrunken Bicycling Magazine issue in the mailbox sparks a look at how print is adapting—smaller formats, leaner shipping, tighter layouts—and how that mirrors the shift from paper to pixels across cycling media. The conversation veers from aero bikes and marginal gains to what actually moves most riders: comfort, consistency, and a reason to roll. We share stories from old-school route planning in real estate photography, where efficiency beat mileage, and connect that mindset to how we plan tours, choose gear, and build habits that last. There's plenty of community fuel. We recap warm welcomes from international listeners, share gratitude for supporters who keep the show humming, and invite everyone to join our Cycling Men and Women of Leisure teams for Big BRAG 2026. We also announce our Podfest 2026 plans, thanks to Buzzsprout's support, and talk honestly about what conventions offer—useful ideas, people who push your craft, and a reminder that courses don't replace clarity. Preston debunks the myths about AimPoint, explains how to properly test a putter before buying it, and takes Matt through a live lesson that transforms his setup. In This Episode, We Cover:The Truth About AimPoint: Preston explains why AimPoint is suitable for beginners and high-handicappers, not just pros. He also debunks the myth that AimPoint slows the game, noting that a proper read should take only about 10 to 12 seconds.Green Books vs. Feel: While Green Books are great for approach shots, Preston explains why relying on them solely for putting can be tricky due to angle variationsThe "Zero Torque" Debate: Do you actually need a Zero Torque putter? Preston reveals that while they help some, they can hurt players who rely on torque for feel in transition. How to Buy a Putter: Don't just grab what's popular. Preston shares a drill that uses a quarter or a dime to test start lines in the store before you drop hundreds of dollars.Blade vs. Mallet: Why "cavity back" putters might be hiding your mistakes and why some pros are sticking to blades for better feedback. The "Base Stroke" System: Understanding how to regulate stroke size and tempo so you stop guessing how hard to hit the ballMatt's Lesson: Preston diagnoses Matt's "long follow-through" as a symptom of a short backswing and fixes his setup by adjusting his forward bend to improve structural stability.Resources Mentioned:Preston's Putting: https://www.prestonsputting.com/AimPoint: https://aimpointgolf.com/ Vertex Sensor: https://vertex-golf.com/Quotes from the Show:"If you can't control the face on a three-mile-an-hour club head speed swing, it's not the putter." - Matt "I'm a proponent of any tool that allows players to better understand what's getting ready to happen to their golf ball." - Preston Combs "It looks like you're trying to hit that eight iron 160 yards." - Preston on forcing a putting stroke. Support the showSpecial thank goes out to our show sponsors:

Host Colin Weston sits down with YouTube golf pioneer Matt Fisher (Mr. Short Game) to dissect the cultural phenomenon of the Internet Invitational. They break down the 23-million-view event, exploring why its reality-TV format and creator-driven personalities are resonating with a new generation of fans. Matt shares his expert take on the "winners and losers," the cheating controversy, and why this model is a blueprint for the future of golf entertainment. Finally, they look ahead to the evolving golf media landscape, including TGL and Grass League, and discuss how authenticity is the ultimate key to success for aspiring creators. Listen to this full episode with Matt to discover: Personality is the New Premium: The massive success of the Internet Invitational proves that modern audiences crave authentic personality and entertainment as much as they value elite ball-striking. The unfiltered, reality-show format is a powerful new model for golf engagement. Strategic Content Separation is Key: To grow an audience effectively, separate your content by purpose. Matt is splitting his channel into three: one for instruction, one for on-course vlogs, and one for the Mr. Short Game Podcast, ensuring each audience finds exactly what they want. Multiple Revenue Streams Drive Sustainability: Relying solely on YouTube ad revenue is risky. A successful creator business is built on a mix of AdSense, strategic brand deals, and affiliate partnerships, all while prioritizing the audience's trust and interests above a quick payday. https://media24.fireside.fm/file/fireside-uploads-2024/images/1/1ea879c1-a4a2-4e10-bea4-e5d8368a3c7a/z2n4cvDp.jpg Episode Chapters: (00:00) Introduction: Welcoming back YouTube golf pioneer Matt Fisher aka: Mr. Short Game (02:30) The Internet Invitational Breakdown: The surprise success of the 23-million-view event (05:15) Strategy & Timing: Why the delayed release was a brilliant move (08:45) Audience & "Bro Culture": Did the event reach new fans or just its base? (12:30) Reality TV & Manufactured Drama: Analyzing the cheating scandal and villain arcs (16:00) Stock Up, Stock Down: The creators who won and lost in the public eye (20:15) The Casting Dilemma: Why some creators were chosen and others weren't (23:00) The Future of Golf Media: TGL, LIV, Grass League, and where the real opportunity lies (27:30) TGL vs. Influencer Golf: Why pros and creators thrive in different ecosystems (29:45) The Mr. Short Game Business Model: Revenue streams and building a sustainable content brand (32:15) Advice for Aspiring Creators: How to break into the YouTube golf space Compelling Quotes from Matt On the Internet Invitational's Appeal: "You have to know going in that this is a reality show and everything's on the table... It's on brand for Barstool. And Bob, especially Dave Portnoy, he is going to exploit every opportunity he has. And I don't blame him. He's creating a great entertaining show." On the Difference Between Pros and Creators: "You get Grant Horvat, you put him in the Masters, he's going to come in dead last. But you put him in a cart with Bryson DeChambeau, he's going to come in first in terms of views." On Authenticity for Creators: "The challenge is you see what's working and you just try to copy it as opposed to being authentic of who you are and create your own brand. You gotta film yourself and you gotta find who you are in front of that camera and be authentically you." Are you more of a watcher than a listener? What if your next low round isn't hiding in a swing tip—but in boring, repeatable fundamentals? In this conversation, I'm joined by my golf coach, Director of Golf at Tampa Bay Country Club, Kevin Kenny. Kevin has won a PGA chapter or section event in five different decades. And, after shoulder surgery and seven months off, Kevin returned and shot 73—powered by meticulous pre-shot routines, alignment, posture, and belief. We dig into mental clutter vs. clarity, how to "watch the ball" instead of the monitor, why short game is the ultimate pressure valve, and how to compete with conviction decade after decade. You'll leave with a simple, durable framework to practice all winter, manage match play smarter, and build unconditional confidence on command. In this episode, you'll learn: The five fundamentals Kevin hammers (aim, grip, posture, turn back, turn through). A simple "find the root cause" process after any miss. The target-first focus shift that cleans up mental clutter fast. Why short-game mastery lowers scores and frees up your iron play. How to practice in the off-season without hitting a ball. Smarter match-play tactics (pars win, don't beat yourself). The mindset behind sustained winning across your 20s–60s. Get your pencils ready and start listening. P.P.S. Curious to learn more about the results my clients are experiencing and what they say about working with me? Read more here. Instagram: @thegolfhypnotherapist Twitter: @parsoverbogeys Key Takeaways: Fundamentals are the real secret: grip, aim, posture, and rotation. Believe in what you're doing before you do it—confidence creates competence. Every golfer has their own swing; find yours and own it. Watch your shots. Reflect, don't react. Learn from every miss. Golf is a math contest—it's not about how, it's about how many. The best short games win tournaments, not perfect swings. Focus on targets, not trouble—your body follows your mind. Get your life in order off the course if you expect to play well on it. Match play rewards boring, consistent golf—avoid beating yourself. Mental clutter kills performance. Create your own reset routine to refocus. Key Quotes: "Golf is a math contest. It's not how—it's how many." "Everybody thinks there's a secret. The secret is fundamentals." "Believe before you perform. You don't get confident first—you choose confidence." "Watch it until it lands. Find the root cause—often it's alignment." "Short game takes the heat off your approach shots." "On the course, focus on the target, not the trouble." "In match play, don't beat yourself. A bunch of boring pars wins." (00:02) Beauty of Golf Courses and Handicapping This chapter kicks off with a conversation about the beautiful September weather in Flagstaff and the scenic views golf courses offer, emphasizing the often-overlooked beauty of the sport's locations. We touch on the stunning golf courses across the United States and the Caribbean, including a nod to Lake Tahoe's splendor. Shifting gears, we discuss the challenges of betting on the Ryder Cup, highlighting the unpredictability of golf, especially in emotionally charged international competitions. Comparisons are made to betting on intense sports rivalries like Indiana vs. Purdue basketball or iconic football matchups such as the Iron Bowl, where unexpected outcomes make handicapping difficult. Despite the complexities, we note that NFL football tends to be more predictable. (17:00) Defining Pitch and Chip Shots This chapter focuses on the complexities of golf terminology and how language can often lead to confusion, particularly when it comes to understanding the difference between pitching and chipping. We explore the nuances of these terms, emphasizing that a pitch is when the ball spends more time in the air than on the ground, typically requiring a higher lofted club like a sand or lob wedge. Conversely, a chip is characterized by a shorter flight and longer roll, often executed with a club like a nine iron. We also discuss how different clubs and motions can produce varied results, highlighting the importance of clear definitions in golf to prevent misunderstandings. Additionally, we touch on the common misconceptions about ball positioning during short shots and the flexibility in using various clubs for similar types of shots, illustrating how personal interpretation of terms like "chip" can impact a player's approach. (26:15) Clearing Up Golf Language Confusion This chapter explores the nuances and confusion surrounding golf terminology, particularly focusing on the terms "chip" and "pitch." We break down the definitions of these terms based on the shot and the movement, emphasizing that a pitch typically involves a ball that flies farther in the air than it rolls, while a chip has more ground time than air time. We also discuss how these terms can be misleading when players use different clubs, and how jargon often complicates communication for beginners. By comparing golf jargon to a foreign language, we highlight the importance of clear communication in coaching. Our philosophy emphasizes using straightforward language to enhance understanding and improve performance, advocating for a teaching approach that eliminates confusion and makes golf accessible to everyone. (38:16) Stabilizing Your Short Game Shots This chapter takes a close look at the intricacies of mastering short game shots in golf. We explore the importance of controlling the club and landing the ball accurately by maintaining a stable stance. Understanding how the length of the club and proper positioning can impact your game is emphasized, alongside the significance of achieving stability over focusing solely on swing techniques. We address common misconceptions, like always leaning towards the target, and stress that the primary goal should be getting the club under the ball effectively. The conversation highlights the importance of practicing basic stances rather than just complex shots, and how understanding what you're trying to achieve is crucial before focusing on how to achieve it. (00:00) Golf Scoring Techniques and Predictability This chapter focuses on the art of scoring in golf, moving beyond the usual emphasis on distance and accuracy to hone in on short game techniques. We explore the intricacies of putting and how crucial it is to match your body alignment to the slopes of the course, ensuring stability and precision. Jeff Smith shares his approach to teaching a short game class, highlighting the importance of understanding and adjusting to different lies and slopes for better performance. We also discuss techniques like the "firm handed scrape" or bump and run, emphasizing a stable base and proper club length to enhance shot predictability. By mastering these skills, golfers can significantly improve their ability to get up and down, ultimately enhancing their overall scoring on the course. (13:20) Balanced Approach to Golf Scoring This chapter focuses on the nuances of executing a firm-handed scrape in golf. We explore the balance between keeping wrists firm without locking them entirely, which can create a robotic and tension-filled motion. Emphasizing the importance of maintaining a natural wrist movement, we discuss how the firm-handed scrape is neither overly loose nor stiff, embodying a "Goldilocks" balance of control and flexibility. We liken the technique to familiar motions, such as shaking hands or throwing a ball, to highlight the importance of touch and feel. The conversation stresses that golf swings are not a binary choice between extremes but rather a harmonious blend of controlled motion. Additionally, we address the importance of stability and balance in setting up a shot, challenging the common misconceptions that lead to poor execution. (31:08) Improving Golf Play and Scoring This chapter explores key techniques to improve your golf game, particularly when it comes to hitting out of sand traps and mastering putting. We start by addressing the common mistake of hitting too far behind the golf ball in the sand, leading to ineffective shots. We emphasize the importance of understanding the correct entry point in the sand to ensure the club gets beneath the ball, allowing the sand to propel the ball upward effectively. Moving on to putting, we highlight that factors beyond stroke technique significantly impact your performance. We focus on the importance of speed control and positioning, noting that many golfers mistakenly attribute missed putts to stroke errors. By understanding these crucial aspects, you can enhance your overall performance and lower your score on the course. (35:49) Advanced Putting Techniques and Green Reading This chapter explores the intricacies of mastering putting in golf by focusing on speed control, distance, and green reading. We challenge the common notion of always putting into a hole, suggesting that practicing putts to the fringe can build confidence in distance control without the negative feedback of missing. The importance of practicing putts from various distances is highlighted, as is the benefit of maintaining consistency in stroke, even if it means hitting the ball with the toe of the putter. Additionally, we emphasize the significance of accurate green reading by keeping your head level to the horizon and focusing only on the ground between the ball and the hole. We address misconceptions like relying on landscape features, such as mountains or creeks, to determine break direction, urging listeners to rely on visual assessments and to consider doubling the perceived break to account for visual inaccuracies. (43:08) Improving Golf Scoring Techniques This chapter focuses on improving your golf game by challenging preconceived notions about reading greens. We explore how many golfers resist new techniques, even when their current methods aren't effective. By embracing innovative strategies, like those taught in Aimpoint classes, golfers can enhance their ability to read greens and ultimately lower their scores. Encouragement is given to seek out additional resources, such as the "Green Illiterate" episode, to further refine skills. Emphasizing the importance of staying open to learning and the benefits it can bring, we invite listeners to revisit past episodes for valuable insights and techniques to elevate their golf game. (00:00) Weekend Golf Guys This chapter takes you on a journey through a golf-filled weekend with John Ashton and Jeff Smith. Jeff shares his recent adventures in Arizona, including a stop at the famous corner in Winslow. Meanwhile, I recount an enjoyable day of golf at the prestigious Polo Fields in Louisville with friends and family, where the course's impeccable condition and unique hybrid bluegrass stood out. Despite initial struggles, I embraced a positive mindset and overcame a challenging uphill par-three hole, turning a past nemesis into a conquered course feature. The conversation is lighthearted and full of camaraderie, with reflections on memorable shots and the beauty of the game. (12:25) Mindset of Former Athletes in Golf This chapter explores the unique transition from professional baseball to golf among retired athletes, highlighting the experiences of notable former players like Howard Kendrick, Kyle Lohse, and Mark Mulder. We discuss the surprising challenge many baseball players face when they attempt to teach themselves golf despite having been coached their entire athletic careers. The conversation emphasizes the athletes' independent streak and their reliance on mental strength, honed under the pressures of their previous sport. Through anecdotes, I highlight how these athletes' mental fortitude often translates into their golf game, even if physical skills like short game techniques still need refinement. Additionally, the mindset of performing under pressure is explored, drawing parallels between pitching in a packed stadium and sinking a critical putt. The insights shared offer a glimpse into the mindset of high-level athletes adapting to new sports, showcasing both their physical prowess and psychological resilience. (22:50) Pressure Performance in Short Game This chapter addresses common challenges faced in short game golf, specifically flubbed chip shots near the green. I share a story about a student preparing for a club championship who struggled with touch and feel under pressure. By focusing on hitting the ball harder with higher lofted clubs like sand and lob wedges, and adjusting the ball position forward, we were able to build his confidence. The student found success in competition, achieving six out of six up-and-downs in his first round. We explore techniques to improve chipping under pressure, including using longer swings and engaging the body more to prevent stiffness and tension. These insights offer practical strategies for golfers aiming to enhance their short game performance in competitive settings. (32:48) Improving Short Game Performance This chapter explores the importance of selecting the right club and practicing with purpose to improve your golf game. We share an anecdote about choosing the appropriate wedge for specific shots and how a simple change in club selection can lead to better results on the course. Emphasizing the significance of dedicating time to practice short game skills, we discuss how investing 30 minutes into honing these skills can elevate confidence and expectations, leading to better performance during a round. Drawing parallels to basketball players' pre-game routines, we stress the importance of preparation and realistic expectations in achieving success on the golf course. (36:32) Scoring Well Through Preparation and Contact This chapter explores the parallels between the preparation of professional athletes in other sports and the often overlooked preparation in golf. We highlight how athletes arrive early, practice basic skills, and ensure they're ready to perform at their best, contrasting this with how golfers often rush to the first tee with minimal preparation. We discuss the emotional impact of hitting the ball well in golf, emphasizing the joy of solid contact over precise outcomes. By introducing a strike scale from one to five, we suggest a shift in focus from score alone to the quality of contact, promoting enjoyment and self-assessment. This approach encourages golfers to concentrate on improving their strike and gaining confidence, regardless of the scorecard, thus reshaping how players perceive their performance and overall experience on the course. (42:36) Practice Makes Perfect in Golf This chapter explores the often humorous and sometimes frustrating journey of golfers who may not practice as they should but continue to play the game they love. We reflect on the common tendency to focus on drivers while neglecting wedges and putters, which are crucial for improving performance, given their frequent use on the course. By embracing a playful approach, like scoring on a "suckiness to awesomeness" scale, we aim to bring more fun and enjoyment to the game. I also emphasize the importance of practicing specific skills, such as ups and downs, to truly enhance one's golfing abilities.

(00:00) Mastering Golf Scoring Techniques This chapter focuses on the nuances of scoring in golf, particularly emphasizing the short game and how to effectively handle different types of shots and lies on the course. We discuss the importance of understanding the slopes on which you find yourself and adjusting your body position to maintain stability and control. Techniques like the "firm handed scrape" are explored, offering practical advice on how to execute shots like the bump and run effectively. By establishing a firm base and aligning your shoulders with the slope, you can predict your club's landing spot more accurately, improving your overall performance on the greens. (13:39) Mastering Golf Short Game Techniques This chapter focuses on the nuances of hand and wrist movement in various physical activities, emphasizing the importance of finding a balance between stiffness and flexibility, referred to as the "Goldilocks" zone. We explore how touch and feel play a crucial role in tasks such as tossing a ball, throwing a dart, or cutting a steak, where neither overly rigid nor too loose motions are effective. By examining the concept of a "firm-handed scrape" in golf, we illustrate how subtle control and balance can enhance performance, particularly in executing a bump and run shot. The importance of balance, stability, and understanding ball position is highlighted, along with the idea that techniques should be adaptable rather than rigidly defined. The conversation encourages a shift in mindset to prioritize balance and stability to improve shot accuracy and consistency around the greens. (23:20) Mastering Golf Bunker Techniques This chapter explores the technique known as the "hinge and thump," which is a favorite short game lesson from Jeff Smith. We discuss how this technique, ideal for bunker shots and various other lies, can save strokes by effectively getting the ball airborne with a high, soft trajectory. The focus is on creating a vertical wrist hinge, allowing the club to strike the ground in a precise spot, typically around the front hip joint. We contrast this with the firm-handed scrape shot, emphasizing that the club must get below the ball to achieve the desired result. By establishing a solid base, matching shoulder lines to slopes, and choosing between the two techniques, golfers can master their short game and execute impressive shots over obstacles like bunkers. (34:50) Improving Putting Success With Green Reading This chapter focuses on improving putting skills by emphasizing factors beyond stroke technique. We explore four key elements that influence putting success: speed control, distance control, consistent targeting, and green reading. By practicing speed control, golfers can ensure their putts have the right pace to fall into the cup. We highlight the importance of distance control by suggesting practice without aiming at a hole to build confidence in hitting the correct distance. Consistency in hitting a specific target from a short distance is another aspect we examine, which can help confirm the accuracy of the putter face alignment. Lastly, we discuss effective green reading strategies, such as maintaining a level head to better assess the tilt of the green, enhancing overall putting performance. (43:36) Breaking Down Green Reading Obstacles This chapter focuses on the resistance some people exhibit when learning new techniques, specifically in the context of an Aimpoint class for reading greens in golf. We discuss how individuals often defend their current methods, even when they aren't effective, by resisting new approaches. The conversation highlights how this resistance can manifest as a defensive barrier, which ultimately hinders their progress. We also touch on the physical sensations experienced during the learning process, emphasizing that even if one doesn't feel changes in their feet, they might notice them elsewhere in the body.
