She began doing this work during nights and weekends, and in 2015 was able to take it full-time, launching her small business, InkyBrittany.  Since then, Brittany's Graphic Recording & Facilitating work has been requested across the country and beyond. She has worked with corporations, small businesses, philanthropies, governments, public health, education, agriculture, and the disability advocacy community, to name a few. She now also leads workshops teaching others the skill of visual communication. This week, we're talking about Atlanta's small, but fascinating German community - who they were, when they arrived and how they left their culture and legacies around the city. In 1890, the entire state of Georgia had only 1.78% of residents with foreign patronage and Atlanta's immigration story is really one that occurs post-1965 Immigration Act, but all that being said, there were small racial and ethnic communities from the founding of Atlanta in the 1840s. The very first Germans in Atlanta also happened to be the very  first Jewish residents. Lutheran Germans also made up the majority of Atlanta's community. Celebrating 5 years of amazing music and amazing talent @ Mighty Real (Mighty San Francisco). Mighty Real has hosted 5 years of some of the worlds best talent (Louie Vega, Anane, Kenny Dope, Joey Negro, Jellybean Benitez, Terry Hunter, Ultra Nate, Lisa Moody, Kevin Hedge, Todd Terry, Quentin Harris, Hector Romero, and we cannot forget our anniversary resident Frankie Knuckles who started our very first Mighty Real and celebrated our anniversaries until his passing. It was only fitting to bring DJ Danny Krivit, and Tedd Patterson, some of Frankie's close friends to our 5th anniversary Party. This is just a little bit of how the night went down.
