Presented by 6D Helmets Yusaku Yoshimura came to the United States in 2008 to work at the company his grandfather's company, Yoshimura R&D, based in Chino, California. At the time, Yusaku didn't speak English and started working in the production department, where his job was to clean pipes that had just been produced. Through the years, he worked many different jobs and learned all aspects of the business and in 2017 was promoted to President of Yoshimura R&D. Since then, Yusaku has streamlined production practices, grown business, and even expanded the company into the mountain biking industry. Yusaku Maezawa, the Japanese billionaire set to become the first private passenger on a SpaceX Starship, is calling off his television quest to find a female partner to take to the moon. On Wednesday, Maezawa said he could no longer participate and asked AbemaTV to cancel the matchmaking show, known as Full Moon Lovers. An announcement Thursday from AbemaTV on the show's website said it had canceled the program "due to Maezawa's personal circumstances." "Despite my genuine and honest determination toward the show, there was a part of me that still had mixed feelings about my participation," Maezawa tweeted. Having recently split up with his girlfriend, fashion mogul Maezawa has launched an online appeal for a female "life partner" to accompany him on SpaceX's maiden tourist voyage — a slingshot trip around the moon tentatively scheduled for 2023. "As feelings of loneliness and emptiness slowly begin to surge upon me, there's one thing that I think about: continuing to love one woman," 44-year-old Maezawa wrote Thursday in an online appeal. "I want to find a 'life partner.' With that future partner of mine, I want to shout our love and world peace from outer space." Maezawa, who founded Japan's popular online shopping site Zozotown, is worth an estimated $2 billion, according to Forbes. A rare, eccentric figure among Japan's usually conservative entrepreneurs, he made global headlines in 2018, when Elon Musk's SpaceX revealed that he had chartered a flight aboard the company's Big Falcon Rocket. 'A special someone' Writing on his website, Maezawa said he thought the lunar trip was a good chance to "seriously face up the idea of 'continuing to love one woman' which I'd only really had a hazy image about." According to the conditions listed on the website, applicants must be single women aged 20 or over, with a "bright personality" and always positive, have an interest in going to space — and "wish for world peace." The deadline for applications is January 17, with the final decision scheduled to be made by Maezawa at the end of March. Applicants are asked to provide their height, job, hobbies, "special skill" and "selling points," their impression of Maezawa, and a photo of themselves. According to the ONI spokesperson, these documents were either labeled "SECRET" or "TOP SECRET" by the agencies that provided them, and that sharing the information with the public "would cause exceptionally grave damage to the National Security of the United States." However, in November 2019, several naval officers who witnessed the incident aboard the Nimitz told Popular Mechanics that they had seen a much longer video of the encounter that was between 8 and 10 minutes long. These original recordings were promptly collected and erased by "unknown individuals" who arrived on the ship by helicopter shortly after the incident, one officer said. Luis Elizondo, a former Pentagon staffer who helped make the Navy video public, told Vice that "people should not be surprised by the revelation that other videos exist and at greater length." When my husband was alive we loved to go to art auctions. I’ve not ever been to an auction at Christie’s, but I’d love to and it’s on my bucket list. Yesterday something exciting happened at a Christie’s auction. A painting by Jean-Michel Basquiat sold for $110.5 million! Only 10 other canvases have ever sold for over $100 million. It was bought by the 41-year-old tech tycoon, rock musician, fashion entrepreneur Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa. The Los Angeles Times says that until shortly before Thursday's auction, it hadn't been shown in public since a private collector bought it for $19,000 in 1984. Says the NY Times: “It was Mr. Maezawa, the 41-year-old founder of Contemporary Art Foundation, who last year set the previous auction high for Basquiat, paying $57.3 million for the artist’s large 1982 painting of a horned devil at Christie’s. Mr. Maezawa is also the founder of Japan’s large online fashion mall, Zozotown.” How’s that for compounding! His works have had an increase of 10 fold in 10 years. Basquiat’s skull painting set several records: for a work by any American artist, for a work by an African-American artist and as the first art created since 1980 to sell for over $100 million. According to the NY TImes, “The Brooklyn-born Basquiat went from graffiti artist to an art collector darling in the span of a mere seven years. He died at 27 of a drug overdose in 1988. Last year, Basquiat became the highest-grossing American artist at auction, generating $171.5 million from 80 works, according to Artprice, and his auction high has increased at least tenfold in the last 15 years.” Why would someone pay this much for a painting? 1. Because they love the work! 2. They are a collector. 3. The rarity of the work. 4. His prices have been escalating. 5. Art has been appreciating better than other assets. 6. Diversification of your fortune, especially out of cash. 7.
