Eigentlich ist die gute Laune in der Reisebranche ja ein Naturgesetz. Man verkauft Träume, Palmen und das süße Nichtstun. Doch wenn man sich mit Mirko Jacubowski unterhält, dem COO von A3M, bekommt die Urlaubsidylle schnell Risse. Wer einen Blick auf seine „Internetseite des Grauens“ wirft – eine Weltkarte übersät mit roten und orangen Punkten –, merkt schnell: Die Welt ist ungemütlicher geworden. Und während wir früher vielleicht nur wissen wollten, ob der Pool beheizt ist, müssen wir heute klären, ob die Straße von Hormus offen bleibt oder ob der nächste Streik das Drehkreuz in Dubai lahmlegt. Die Welt als „Kammer des Schreckens“ Es ist schon eine paradoxe Situation. Firmen wie A3M sind die Dienstleister, die eigentlich niemand haben will, aber die heute jeder dringend braucht. Jacubowski und sein Team aus hochspezialisierten Analysten in Deutschland und Indien sind so etwas wie der „Schwamm für schlechte Meldungen“. Sie überwachen 24/7 den Globus – nicht um uns den Urlaub zu vermiesen, sondern um das Unwägbare doch irgendwie begreiflich und bearbeitbar zu machen. Ob es der plötzliche Raketenangriff, der Vulkanausbruch oder die neue Hitzewelle am Mittelmeer ist: Professionelles Monitoring ist heute kein Luxus mehr, sondern schlichte Überlebensnotwendigkeit für die Reisebranche. Fürsorgepflicht statt Urlaubsflirt Besonders für Geschäftsreisende ist die Lage ernst. Wer seine Mitarbeiter beruflich nach Nigeria, Paraguay oder in den Sudan schickt, kann sich nicht auf das Prinzip Hoffnung verlassen. Hier greift die gesetzliche Fürsorgepflicht. Ein Unternehmen muss wissen, wo seine Leute sind und welche Risiken vor Ort lauern. Es geht eben nicht mehr nur um „Man-Made-Events“ wie Terrorismus oder politische Unruhen. Der Klimawandel liefert uns mittlerweile eine „Explosion klimabedingter Risiken“. Waldbrände in der russischen Taiga oder 50 Grad im Schatten am Mittelmeer sind die neuen Realitäten, die kein Reiseplaner ignorieren darf. „Wir liefern die Albtraum-Komponente des Ganzen. Reisen hat gewisse Risiken. Man kann sie aber moderieren, man kann sie abmildern.“ Professioneller Blick in den Abgrund Man könnte Jacubowski und sein Team fast als „Krisengewinnler“ bezeichnen, doch das greift zu kurz. Sie sind eher die Realisten in einer Branche, die viel zu lange auf rosarote Brillen gesetzt hat. In einer Welt, in der die Interdependenzen der Globalisierung dafür sorgen, dass ein Konflikt im Nahen Osten sofort die Flugpreise für den Familienurlaub in Thailand nach oben treibt, ist Information die einzige harte Währung. Natürlich könnten wir alle zu Hause bleiben – doch wie Mirko so treffend bemerkt: Die meisten tödlichen Unfälle passieren bekanntlich im Haushalt. Dann doch lieber mit einem professionellen Frühwarnsystem im Gepäck die Welt erkunden. Denn eines ist sicher: Die Krisen werden uns so schnell nicht ausgehen. Wer heute ohne Netz und doppelten Boden reist, ist nicht mutig, sondern schlichtweg schlecht informiert.
