In her search for the fragment that prevents Hanyuu from finding her, Rika's depersonalization continues as she lashes out at Satoko for bullying her. Is this world real, or is the world she came from a fabrication of this world's Rika's sad mind? Rika consults Doctor Yamamoto, setting off a chain of events that leads to both the possibility of this world's Rika finding happiness but also a terrible truth that provides Bernkastel a way out. This week on Backlog Dialogues, we get a little heretical.
Will. The power of the individual to influence people and events. This has been at the core of Rika's cruel fate all this time. As she has seen her friends muster the collective will to save Satoko, she too has found her own strength of will to defy her death once more. But even the collective willpower of a village may not be able to overcome a will forged with certain conviction. A will backed by a far greater power than a single village will crush all beneath it. It would take a miracle for one to survive against such a force. A miracle backed by an equivalent amount of will. This week on Backlog Dialogues, we confront the true Will behind the tragedy.
Politics. The science and art of convincing others to do what you want them to. For many, it's a dirty word, a thing to be avoided. But if you want to save the life of a child, if you want to change the nature of a village, if you want to tear through fate itself, it is a skill one must master. But even more important than mastering the skill is knowing who to use the skill on. To save Satoko, Keiichi must convince the head of the village herself to change her mind... This week on Backlog Dialogues, we bring the greatest challenge to its end.
Shion has a problem. The hot guy she likes is not doing well. He's skipping baseball practice and acting real strange. What's a girl to do? Why, pose as her sister to cause severe damage to her social life, of course! She encounters the peculiar Rena Ryuugu, who proselytizes for Oyashiro-sama as a way to show how much trouble she knows Satoshi is in, and then takes Mion's place at school to solve what's really causing Satoshi problems: a totally innocent and horribly abused nine year old child named Satoko. What the fuck, Shion?

Reality is coming undone and weird things are happening. Did Keiichi murder someone last night, or did he spend the festival with his friends like they say he did? Has he somehow gained the ability to kill others with his brain? Can he save Satoko from her cruel fate once and for all? Or is it all for nothing? Once more, the tragedy comes to its head, and this time, the curse spreads farther than any thought possible.
The extent of Satoko's situation is laid bare: her abusive uncle has returned, and the club is powerless to do anything. But that's not going to keep Keiichi from trying, as he shouts at his friends, begins to make terrible kidnapping plans, talks to Miyo about her interests, implies that his friend is behind all the murders in the village, and shows us just how far out his galaxy brain can go.
Rena gets philosophical and Ooishi gets terrifying this week, as Keiichi learns more about his new 'sister', Satoko. Things are starting to get gloomy faster this time, as Satoko fails to come to school and the question of Satoshi is way more forward, with Shion pushing Keiichi on what he's learned about the missing boy.
It's Satoko's turn in the spotlight as we go back and start over to have a good old fashioned lunch box battle! Keiichi begins to develop brotherly feelings for the precocious brat (affectionate), and his skill for bullshit hinted at in the previous arc is now given a name in one of the most hilarious (and horrifying) scenes we've ever done on this pod! Listener discretion advised, we do not condone any of the words that weird pervert says.
This week- a pair of films about relationships and rumors. Eva is a divorced massage therapist whose daughter is about to fly across country for college. At a party she meets Marianne, a poet and new client/friend. She also meets Albert, a television archivist and love interest. Before long she learns that Marianne and Albert used to be married and uses their friendship to gather all the inside information she can. Will Eva's newly formed bonds be strong enough to withstand the eventual reveal? Can she accept her daughter leaving the nest without finding a replacement? Is there ever really Enough Said. Yusaku Fukuhara runs an import/export business in 1940 Kobe. When he suddenly announces to his wife, Satoko, that he will be going to Manchuria to obtain cheap medicines, Satoko never expects their lives to be completely upended. Yusaku returns with a mysterious woman, a film of atrocities, and a detailed ledger full of experiment results. Will Satoko choose her husband or her country? What are they both willing to sacrifice for their ends? Is there only suffering for the Wife of a Spy. All that and Craig gets smug while the others fight for guzzolene. Join us, won't you? Episode 363- Matters of Trustnull
Things aren't looking good. Satoko and Rika are missing, and Keiichi may have been spilling his guts to the wrong Sonozaki sister this whole time. It's a good thing Rena is an ace detective, or this case would never have been cracked. It's time once more for things to come to a tragic end...
The story begins! We meet Keiichi and his classmates, Rena, Mion, Satoko, and Rika, and get familiar with their totally normal lives in a mountain village where nothing bad ever happens. Except, you know, the grisly murder at the dam construction site a few years ago. But that doesn't matter, what matters is BOARD GAMES!
Pianist and composer SATOKO FUJII, “an improviser of rumbling intensity and generous restraint” (Giovanni Russonello, New York Times), is one of the most original voices in jazz today. For more than 25 years, she has created a unique, personal music that spans many genres, blending jazz, contemporary classical, rock, and traditional Japanese music into an innovative synthesis instantly recognizable as hers alone. “Fujii's music troubles the divide between abstraction and realism. . . . All of this amounts to abstract expressionism, in musical form. But it's equaled by her rich sense of simplicity, sprung from the feeling that she is simply converting the riches of the world around her into music,” writes Giovanni Russonello in the New York Times. A prolific composer for ensembles of all sizes and a performer who has appeared around the world, she was the recipient of a 2020 Instant Award in Improvised Music, in recognition of her “artistic intelligence, independence, and integrity.” Her talent as a big band composer, arranger, and leader have been recognized numerous times in DownBeat Critics Polls. The New York City Jazz Record has twice named her Artist of the Year. In 2021, El Intruso named her Pianist of the Year. Since she burst onto the scene in 1996, Fujii has led and recorded with some of the most consistently creative ensembles in modern improvised music. She recorded her 100th CD as leader or co-leader live in concert in September 2022. To mark the milestone, she wrote a new suite, Hyaku: One Hundred Dreams, featuring trumpeters Wadada Leo SmithandNatsuki Tamura, tenor saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock, bassoonist Sara Schoenbeck, electronics artist Ikue Mori, bassist Brandon Lopez, and drummers Tom Rainey and Chris Corsano. Among the groups she led are a piano trio with Mark Dresser and Jim Black (1997-2009), and an electrifying avant-rock quartet featuring drummer Tatsuya Yoshida of The Ruins (2001-2008). In addition to a wide variety of small groups of different instrumentation, Fujii also performs in a duo with trumpeter Natsuki Tamura, with whom she's recorded eight albums since 1997. She and Tamura are also one half of the international free-jazz quartet Kaze, which has released five albums since their debut in 2011. Fujii has established herself as one of the world's leading composers for large jazz ensembles, prompting Cadence magazine to call her “the Ellington of free jazz.” Since 1996, she has released a steady stream of acclaimed albums for jazz orchestras and in 2006 she simultaneously released four big band albums: one from her New York ensemble, and one each by three different Japanese bands. In 2013 she debuted the Satoko Fujii Orchestra Chicago at the Chicago Jazz Festival and two years later debuted the new Satoko Fujii Orchestra Berlin. With 2016 marking her 20th year in creative music, Fujii performed concerts once a month in cities around the world, including solo concerts and with her duo with Tamura performed with special guests. She also presented performance with small and large ensembles. During her 60th birthday year in 2018, a milestone known as Kanreki in Japan, Fujii celebrated by releasing one new CD a month. In keeping with the Kanreki tradition of reflecting on the past while looking to the future, the 12 albums included releases by groups that Fujii has led or been part of for years, such as Kaze, Orchestra Berlin, and Orchestra Tokyo, as well as new groups and collaborations with Australian keyboardist Alister Spence; Mahobin, a cooperative quartet featuring Lotte Anker, Ikue Mori, and Tamura; and a new trio, This Is It! In addition to playing accordion in Tamura's Gato Libre, she pursues a fruitful collaboration with bassist Joe Fonda. Together, the duo has released five recordings, sometimes adding guests like Tamura and Gianni Mimmo. In 2019, she recorded Confluence, an album of intimate, highly interactive duets with drummer Ramon Lopez. When the pandemic forced her to stay home for more than a year, she remained musically active, converting her home practice room into a recording studio and producing her seventh solo album, Hazuki; and a duet with Tamura, Keshin. She also collaborated by swapping sound files over the Internet, releasing the duet albums Prickly Pear Cactus with Ikue Mori; Thread of Light with bassist Joe Fonda; and Underground by Futari, her duo project with vibraphonist Taiko Saito. She also explored the use of computer editing to shape a solo release, Piano Music. In this episode, Satoko shares her background, education, and musical journey. Lukujonossa on Yoshihiro Takahashin yksipokkarinen Riki, joka kertoo Hopeanuolen isän nuoruudesta. ––– Kommentoi | Twitter | Instagram ––– - Missing Link: Rakkaudesta tarinoihin ja viihteellisyyteen - HS: Irlantilainen viihdekirjailija on noussut suomalaisten suursuosikiksi etenkin äänikirjoissa – ”Sarja tarjoaa matkan pois tästä todellisuudesta” 08:06 – TOMO-CHAN IS A GIRL!: ESITTELY - Tomo-chan is a Girl! - Satoko and Nada, josta puhuimme jaksossa 10 10:26 – TOMO-CHAN IS A GIRL!: TEMATIIKKA - Petterin kirjoitus sarjasta Anime-lehdessä 8/2016 (pdf) - Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun 14:44 – TOMO-CHAN IS A GIRL!: TOMO - Äänijälki – Jakso 14: Kuinka draamalaama kesytetään (Keisarin uudet kuviot) - Liikunnallisuus hallitsee Tomon ajatusmaailmaa (kuva) - …Mutta Tomo on silti tyttömäinen ja viaton (kuva) - Tomo käyttää minä-pronominiä “atashi“ 20:13 – TOMO-CHAN IS A GIRL!: JUN - Jun tajusi vasta yläasteella että Tomo on tyttö (kuva) - Jun on kyllä tietoinen Tomon sukupuolesta, mutta yrittää aggressiivisesti jättää sen huomiotta (kuva) - Myöhään valvominen (kuva) 27:38 – TOMO-CHAN IS A GIRL!: MISUZU - Misuzu on vähän kuin Fruits Basketin Hanajima (kuva) - Jun ja Misuzu eivät ole koskaan oikein tulleet toimeen (kuva) - “Aikooko hän lopultakin tappaa minut?“ (kuva) - Misuzun konflikti Tomon auttamisen suhteen (kuva) 32:02 – TOMO-CHAN IS A GIRL!: CAROL - Carol on immuuni Misuzulle (kuva) 36:32 – TOMO-CHAN IS A GIRL!: MUUT HAHMOT - Tomon vanhemmat (kuva) - As Miss Beelzebub Likes 38:54 – TOMO-CHAN IS A GIRL!: HUUMORI, KERRONTA JA STRIPPIFORMAATTI - Rip Kirby - Muumipeikko-sarjakuva - Stripin punchline voi olla myös dramaattinen, ei humoristinen (kuva) - Leveän strippiformaatin takia kaavaa voi myös venyttää vähän (kuva) - Twi-4-brändin muita sarjoja - Seven Seas lisensoi hiljattain myös Creepy Catin ja Happy Kanako's Killer Lifen 47:40 – TOMO-CHAN IS A GIRL!: JULKAISU JA KÄÄNNÖS - Stripin otsikko on joskus osa vitsiä (kuva) - Ensimmäisten pokkarien kansikuvat ovat ikävän huonolaatuiset (kuva) 53:00 – TOMO-CHAN IS A GIRL!: SPOILERIOSIO (POKKARISTA 6) - Status quon ylläpitäminen vaatii Juniltakin vaivannäköä (kuva) - Aina ei tarvitse valita jompaakumpaa (kuva) - Misuzukin oppii arvostamaan Carolin ystävyyttä omalla tavallaan (kuva) - Junin ja Misuzun hetkellinen yläasteseurustelu oli sarjan alussa lähinnä huumoria, mutta sen draamapuolta avataan myöhemmin (kuva) - Jakso 34, jossa puhuimme Silver Spoonista 01:04:13 – TOMO-CHAN IS A GIRL!: YHTEENVETO - Yllättävän paljon draamaa huumorisarjaksi (kuva) 01:06:37 – SEVEN SEAS JA MUSHOKU TENSEI -RANOBEN KÄÄNNÖKSEN SIISTIMINEN - ANN: Seven Seas Addresses Mushoku Tensei, Classroom of the Elite Light Novel Localization Changes - Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation - Classroom of the Elite - Sarjojen käännösten vertailua Redditissä - Poistettuja mainintoja seksuaalisesta pakottamisesta (kuva) - Mushoku Tensein kääntäjän twiitti - Justin Sevakisin twiitti Seven Seasistä - Kodomo no jikan - Seven Seas perui Kodomo no jikanin julkaisemisen vuonna 2007 - Jakso 31 ja jakso 32, joissa keskustelemme Amazonin myynnistä poistamista ranobeista 01:20:25 – MY HERO ACADEMIAN FANIT KIUSASIVAT SARJAN KÄÄNTÄJÄN POIS TWITTERISTÄ - Caleb Cook - My Hero Academia - Endeavor - Cook laittoi Endeavorin sanomaan “dammit“ kun hän hakkasi vaimoaan ja lastaan (kuva) - Fanit syyttivät Cookia copypaste-virheestä pokkarijulkaisussa - Cook oli ärtynyt sarjaa ennen julkaisupäivää vuotavaa tyyppiä kohtaan (kuva) 01:33:22 – KONISHI-PALKINTO PARHAALLE MANGAN RANSKANKIELISELLE KÄÄNNÖKSELLE - Manga-News: Titres nommés à la quatrième édition du Prix Konishi pour la traduction de manga - Lista ehdokkaista kommentteineen - Vuoden 2021 voittaja: Tokyo Tarareba Girls, josta puhuimme jaksossa 38 Muut ehdokkaat: - Shadows House - Spy x Family - Moi aussi - Girls' Last Tour - Dr. Stone - Bakemonogatari - La Jeunesse de Yoshio - L'appel de Cthulhu - Aria the Masterpiece 01:43:10 – KUULIJAKOMMENTTEJA - Genshiken 01:47:52 – LUKUJONOSSA: RIKI - Riki Tokio.fissä - Riki Gingapediassa - Yoshihiro Takahashi - Dramaattinen kertojanääni (kuva) - Manga Goraku -seinenlehti, jossa Takahashin sarjat nykyään ilmestyvät 02:01:54 – LOPETUS

Les saints nos amis (Michèle Altmeyer) 2021-02-24 Vénérable Satoko Kitahara by Radio Maria France
This week, Sara and Runa travel to an unknown realm... 1978. More specifically, Hinamizawa in 1978 where we no longer see Keiichi as the protagonist but a new, freshly minted police investigator: Mamoru Akasaka. We've been entrusted with all of the information we might need to be able to understand Hinamizawa's mysteries, but this volume also throws a wrench in a lot of possible theories as well! Is Rika stuck in a groundhog day style time loop? Is her death in 1983 and the resulting Great Hinamizawa Disaster truly unavoidable? Just how much money has Ooishi skimmed off of discretionary funds over the years and then lost betting on Mahjong?Higurashi no naku koro ni, Chapter 4: Himatsubushi (2003) transports us further back than we've ever been, to a time before the dam foreman was murdered and before the stirrings of Oyashiro-sama's curse took hold in Hinamizawa. As the protests against the dam reach a fevered pitch, the grandson of the Minister of Construction is kidnapped a Public Safety Police Officer, Mamoru Akasaka, is dispatched to Hinamizawa to investigate and, if possible, recover the kidnapped child safely. We already know from the first three volumes of Higurashi that he succeeds in saving the minister's grandson, but what else happened there when he was in Hinamizawa? Why is he still haunted by that case even years later? Is it possible to save someone in the past simply by learning The Truth of an incident? As Akasaka investigates, Rika's firm declarations cast all the facts of the case into disarray and leave us all scrambling for answers...As always, if you like the show please leave us a review! We're hosted on itunes, google podcasts, spotify, and several other places so please check us out and tell your friends! You can also follow us on twitter at sayitinredpod for more updates and episode information!Content Warnings for this episode:01:02:30 to 01:03:50: Theorizing about a suicide & related possibilities01:16:45, 01:17:05 to 01:19:05: Discussion of death, syringes, and Torture from the Watanagashi chapter01:35:50 to 01:37:00: Theorizing about the murder of Satoko's Parents
Sara and Runa once again continue their time in Hinamizawa, enjoying the peaceful days shared by Keiichi and his friends in Higurashi no naku koro ni, chapter 3: Tatarigoroshi (2003). Once again we return to the late spring of 1983 with everyone alive, at least for the moment, for round three of our attempt at uncovering Hinamizawa's mysteries! Now, with the information we've gathered from the first two episode, we can start to answer some of the Big Questions: Why does Tomitake keep dying the same way every episode? Is Oyashiro-sama's curse real? Can you win a baseball game when all your brought with you was a golf club? The Tatarigoroshi chapter follows Satoko closely and spends a lot of time developing the warm, surrogate sibling sort of relationship between her and Keiichi. As Keiichi learns more about the painful circumstances of Satoko's life, he becomes more and more determined to protect this small gremlin who he cares for as a younger sister. Even if that means sometimes he has to face the torment of slandering the noble institution of Curry in front of Chie-sensei. Even if it means letting Satoko tease him and set up traps that catch him off guard. Even if it means plotting the perfect murder to erase Satoko's uncle from existence. A general content warning for this episode: Child Abuse comes up in a lot of different forms in our discussion and it comes up even more intensely in the game itself so please take care as you read!As always, if you like the show please leave us a review! This week, Sara and Runa embark on a long trip to Hinamizawa and discuss Higurashi no naku koro ni, Chapter 1: Onikakushi (2002). In this first episode of our full dive into all 8 volumes of Higurashi, we talk about the harrowing stakes of afterschool card games, the existential significance of Air Conditioning, and the startling correlation between holding a metal bat and having a Real Bad Time.Higurashi no naku koro ni is a lengthy story spread out over 8 Kinetic Novels and we'll be covering each game in its own episode over the next few months. Higurashi was originally released in 2002 but didn't receive an official worldwide release in 2009, and now thankfully it's not too difficult to buy an official release of all 8 volumes in English (and a lot of other languages too). It's part of the When They Cry series by 07th Expansion and creator Ryukishi07, and we'll be covering Umineko further in the future.Higurashi chapter 1: Onikakushi follows the story of Keiichi Maebara, a teenage boy whose family has just moved into the relatively rural Japanese town of Hinamizawa and quickly settles into a delightful daily routine alongside his new friends, Rena, Mion, Rika, and Satoko. As he spends time with these girls playing board games and pranks, he learns that there may have been a grotesque murder in the town just a few years ago. When he asks his friends, however, they act as if nothing like that could have ever happened. After the photographer who first told Keiichi about the murder turns up dead, and under extremely suspicious circumstances, Keiichi begins to suspect that there may be something terrible about Hinamizawa. Has a curse been claiming the lives of residents and enemies of the town each year? Is there a town-wide conspiracy bent on silencing anyone who threatened the peace and order of Hinamizawa? Are the residents of this town really descended from demons? Keiichi digs deeper and deeper into the mystery surrounding his new home and as he does, his friends start to act more and more terrifying and things become more and more uncanny... Right? All of that really happens, right?Or, maybe...Content Warnings for this episode:Broadly, we talk about Death, Murder, Violence, and some unreality themes throughout.00:22:00: Mention of a Needle hidden in food00:23:55: Mention of Battery/Violence00:25:04: Needles/Syringes00:25:30: Mention of Battery/Violence00:40:18 to 00:40:58: Details of a murder including self-inflicted neck injury and fingernail trauma. 00:52:08 to 00:53:45: More mention of needles in food01:17:53 and 01:18:45: Finger/Hand injury01:44:45: Another mention of self-inflicted neck injury and fingernail trauma. 02:01:15 to 02:03:06: further discussion of self-inflicted neck injury and fingernail injury

Ad-fraud is one of the most profitable activities for organized crime today. The scammers are sophisticated, disciplined, and numerous, and they might be using your IoT devices to rip people off. Over the past decade, there has been relatively little of this kind of cybercrime in Japan, but that's changing as the ad-fraud crime networks go global. Japan has to catch up and catch up fast. Unfortunately, Japan defenses have been rather poor. Today we sit down and talk with someone who is fixing that. Satoko Ohtsuki is the founder and CEO of Phybbit, Japan's largest ad-fraud prevention network, and she's going to explain the biggest scam you've probably never heard of. Of course, we talk about the different kinds of ad-fraud and what is being done to combat them, but we also talk about how she was pushed into entrepreneurship, and the challenges of raising money (and raising children) as a female founder in Japan. It's a great discussion with one of the most interesting founders in Japan, and I think you will really enjoy it. Show Notes The global scale of ad-fraud How to bluff your way into starting a leading software company The main kinds of ad-fraud Google & Facebook's conflict of interest in solving ad fraud How scammers try to get around the fraud countermeasures Who exactly are the ad-fraud scammers and where are they located? How your devices and home electronics are helping the scammers The challenge of raising venture money as a woman in Japan Satoko’s advice for women raising money in Japan Balancing the demands of a growing startup and growing children How Japanese VCs stop Japanese startups from going global How the 2020 Olympics are affecting venture investment in Japan Links from the Founder Everything you wanted to know about Phybbit Phybbit's 2019 Whitepaper on Ad Fraud Check out Satoko's blog Follow Satoko on Twitter @satoko90 Friend her on Facebook Leave a comment Transcript Welcome to Disrupting Japan, straight talk from Japan’s most successful entrepreneurs. I’m Tim Romero and thanks for joining me. Today we are going to be talking about ad-fraud. Ad-fraud is a multi-billion-dollar problem that a lot of people don’t really want to see get solved. You see, when you run an internet ad campaign or participate in an affiliate network, some of the clicks or installs you pay for are from real people interested in your product or service, but a lot of them are bots that are simply scamming money for the site owners. In fact, a surprising number of ad-clicks are bots. Internet advertising is a $280 billion global business and it's estimated that somewhere between 25% and 50% of it is fraud. Well today, we are going to sit down with someone who is doing something about that. Satoko Ohtsuki founded Phybbit to combat ad fraud, and it has now become the largest ad fraud detection service in Japan. Satoko and I talk about how Phybbit is using artificial intelligence to combat the seemly endless stream of online ad fraudsters, the challenges she faced raising money as a woman founder in Japan, and how you, yes you in particular, might be helping out the ad fraud scammers without even knowing it. But you know, Satoko tells that story much better than I can, so let’s get right to the interview. [pro_ad_display_adzone id="1411" info_text="Sponsored by" font_color="grey" ] Interview Tim: Cheers! Satoko: Cheers! Tim: So, I'm sitting here with Satoko Ohtsuki of Phybbit, so thanks for sitting down with me. Satoko: Thank you too. Thank you for your time. Tim: Phybbit makes Spider AF. Satoko: Yes. Tim: And the AF stands for 'Anti-Fraud'? 'Ad Fraud'? Satoko: Ad Fraud. Tim: Ad Fraud. Satoko: So, let me introduce what is Ad Fraud first. Ad Fraud is exactly as it is written, it’s advertisement fraud. For example, if I was a blogger, I will put some advertisement spot inside of my blog a...

This week the Historians are back in New York City and we put our detective hats on by solving the case of the Mysterious Upper East Side 3Way. We question why we ever rooted for Aviva ever, applaud Drunk Sonja in her neverending quest to find sex, and plead to the Bravo Gods to officially make Satoko the Facialist a full-time cast member. Explicit language ahead!

I had a whole thing written, but then I accidentally closed the tab before saving anything and lost it all, whoops. Anyway, the Bears are good, Iowa State football and basketball seem to be good, and the White Sox should do anything interesting this offseason.
