Donald Trump is set to host Israel's Prime Minister at the White House as the US pushes for a ceasefire in Gaza. The BBC reports Israel and Hamas resumed indirect talks in Qatar but ended after three hours without a breakthrough. Former US National Security Adviser John Bolton told Heather Du Plessis-Allan there's no compromising between the two sides. He says Hamas' objectives are to get Israel out of Gaza, while Israel's is to destroy Hamas as a military and political force. Discussions to strike a permanent deal with Iran in the wake of recent airstrikes on its nuclear facilities are expected to also be on the table. Privacy invasions, robot surveillance, and the surprising return of beloved cult classics dominate this week's tech landscape. Meta has been caught red-handed using tactics similar to digital criminals to secretly harvest web browsing data from Android devices through a backdoor approach that even Google wasn't aware of. The technique mirrors malicious software, planting itself on phones and bypassing security settings by default—a disturbing revelation that should prompt users to reconsider their browser choices.Meanwhile, autonomous vehicles like Waymo have become rolling surveillance systems, their 360-degree cameras constantly recording everything and everyone they pass. Police departments in San Francisco and Phoenix are already issuing warrants for this footage, raising profound questions about our surveillance-saturated future. When you step into a robo-taxi, you're essentially signing away your privacy rights—just one more way we're trading convenience for constant monitoring. On a lighter note, the 1987 cult classic Spaceballs is finally getting a sequel in 2027. Could it be called "The Schwartz Awakens"? It will reunite original cast members including Mel Brooks as Yogurt, Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet, and Bill Pullman as Lone Star, while introducing new characters including Bill Pullman's real-life son Lewis as "Starburst." In other fascinating developments, Chinese researchers have achieved remarkable accuracy in reconstructing human faces from DNA alone, scientists have genetically engineered spiders to produce glowing red silk, and space station microbes are evolving new protective features against radiation. The technological landscape continues to advance at breathtaking speed—for better and sometimes worse.Join us each week as we navigate these technological developments with expert analysis and our signature touch of whiskey appreciation. Whether you're concerned about privacy, excited about entertainment, or fascinated by scientific breakthroughs, Tech Time Radio brings you the insights that matter most, without the technical jargon.Support the show

Michaela Fachar is a former national security professional who served as an All-Source Analyst in the U.S. Air Force Reserve for six years and held various intelligence roles within the U.S. government. In the fall of 2021, during her first semester at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, she had a profound experience making contact with NHI. With no prior knowledge or exposure to the phenomenon, she was informed of her contact by an element of the U.S. government. Committed to her career in national security, Michaela confided only in a close circle, keeping the experience secret to avoid misconceptions and remain focused on her mission. However, a year later, her NHI contact intensified, ultimately reshaping the course of her life. Accepting the end of that chapter, she launched a social media presence on X in August 2024 and, in December, publicly shared her experiences with NHI. Her revelations gained traction on UFO Twitter, reconnecting her with colleagues from the intelligence community. Earlier this month, Michaela came forward as a whistleblower, sharing details from her 2020–2021 Air Force deployment to Qatar in hopes of corroborating information disclosed by Matt Livelsberger to Shoemate on The Shawn Ryan Show. Today on the show, Fareed is joined by outgoing US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan for an exclusive interview. They discuss the Biden administration's foreign policy legacy, and the unique opportunity that the Trump administration has to continue pushing for a ceasefire in Ukraine and pursuing effective diplomatic relations with Iran and China. Then, David Brooks, opinion columnist at the New York Times, speaks with Fareed about the stark divide in how Americans view Donald Trump and what this tells us about the state of US politics more broadly. They also discuss Brooks' recent Atlantic cover story in which he argues that the elite college admissions process has inadvertently hurt American society – and lays out some opportunities for reform. Outgoing US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan joins Ian Bremmer in front of a live audience at the 92nd Street Y in New York City for a rare and wide-ranging GZERO World interview about the biggest geopolitical threats facing the United States, Joe Biden's foreign policy legacy, and how much will (or won't) change when the Trump administration takes office in 2025. The world has changed dramatically since Biden entered the White House in 2021, and Sullivan has been the driving force behind some of the administration's most consequential–and controversial–decisions over the past four years. The outgoing National Security Advisor reflects on his time in office, from managing strategic competition with China to supporting Ukraine in the face of Russia's invasion to navigating the US-Israel relationship. He warns that bad actors see presidential transitions as moments of opportunity, so it's imperative that we send a “clear and common message” to both friends and adversaries during what he calls “a huge, plastic moment of turbulence and transition” in global politics.Host: Ian BremmerGuest: Jake Sullivan Subscribe to the GZERO World with Ian Bremmer Podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or your preferred podcast platform, to receive new episodes as soon as they're published.
