On this episode of Talk About It, we break out the Gold Jacket to chat with Alan Faneca, retired NFL offensive lineman and NFL Hall of Fame Inductee! Alan and Greg have become friends through advocacy for epilepsy awareness over the years, because Alan was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was a teenager and played at the highest levels of football with the condition. He also has a daughter with a rare form of epilepsy, so this cause is really close to his heart. Ironically, Nick also has a connection to Alan through his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and hosting events together, so this is really a friend reunion show! They discuss his diagnosis, how his family helps him deal with the condition, going through the process again with his daughter, and - of course - his induction into the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, OH. This is an episode that you are seriously not going to want to miss! The Talk About It podcast is excited to be sponsored in part by Neurelis. The Talk About It podcast is excited to also be sponsored in part by Seizures Are Signs — dedicated to educating families on the importance of early and specific diagnosis by providing an assessment to help get the conversation started, educational information, stories from families who have found a diagnosis, links to advocacy groups, and more. Friday Vibe Check. How are fans feeling about the Steelers matchup with the Packers on Sunday? Chris described it as close to a must-win as you can have with this record. Will we see a game when the Steelers defense puts their foot down against a bad offense? Will we see the Steelers offense wake up? It is finally DRAFT DAY. How are you feeling going into tonight with the Steelers picking at 17? The guys are anxious with there being so many different ways the Steelers can go. Former Steeler Trai Essex joined the show. Trai said Peter Skoronski is the best offensive lineman in this draft and described him as an alpha – even comparing him to guys like Alan Faneca and Maurkice Pouncey. Trai has Broderick Jones as his second-best option for the Steelers. Trai talked about players getting pigeonholed as they go into the draft and how they can work their way out of that. Even though Trai loves Skoronski, he'd prefer to get a player without having to trade up and deal away some assets. He mentioned a few guys the Steelers can get with the 32nd overall pick if they don't get one of the top guys in the 1st round. He spoke highly of Dan Moore and thinks Chukwuma Okorafor would be the odd-man-out up front. He suggested going after a defensive tackle or corner at 17 because he thinks offensive line can be had later in the draft. When asked if he wants to trade up for Jalen Carter, Trai said YES YES YES. Trai talked about how the Steelers offensive line can fill out next season. Trai thinks the Steelers will take Joey Porter Jr. tonight. Chris Carter, NFL and NCAAF analyst, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Wes Uhler of Steelers Nation Radio. The Cleveland Browns' trade of Baker Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers removed a major player in the Browns' rivalry with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Did the Browns end up being abused by the trade by only receiving a fifth round pick for a former first overall pick? Or did the Browns make a good move that was forced upon them by Mayfield's not wanting to play for them?Looking at how Deshaun Watson's situation impacts the Browns forces the question about where Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky fall in the AFC North. If Watson doesn't play this season due to suspension and Jacoby Brissett starts in his place, does that help level the playing field for the Steelers in the division? Also, a fan asks Chris Carter and Wes Uhler which Steelers of the past they would bring back to play on the 2022 team. Terry Bradshaw, Ben Roethlisberger, Alan Faneca and Dermonti Dawson make the list.CALL INTO THE SHOW AT 412-223-6644 or if international, e-mail your audio message to LOSTEELERSTOPICBAG@GMAIL.COMFollow Chris Carter on Twitter: @CarterCritiques.Theme music is 'Soul Kick' by Ceddy P, and 'Too Easy' by Nerdboy.
