Sal is beyond frustrated for Jacob DeGrom (2-2) as he suffers another tough loss because the Mets gave him little support (02:00). With the NFL Draft tomorrow night, the Denver Broncos traded for Teddy Bridgewater but the guys still think they may draft another quarterback. Sal and Dave discuss how Justin Fields could drop to a variety of teams and the chances he ends up with the New England Patriots. Dave thinks both the Chargers and Broncos could challenge the KC Chiefs in the AFC West, plus how Patriots fans have turned on Bill Belichick after all he’s done for the franchise (08:00). The guys give some NFL Draft prop bets including Sal liking Rashawn Slater going top ten (-155) and Dave picking a running back to go in the first round which leads to the debate of taking running backs in round one. Then, does Mikey Meatballs look just like Trevor Lawerence (11:30). In honor of the NFL Draft and the Oscars, Sal, Dave, Jim and Joel draft the best all-time gambling-centric characters from movies. Sal takes issue with Joel’s picks and Jim loosely uses the term gambling (38:00). Steelers offensive lineman Alan Faneca selected Hines Ward to induct him into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which leads to the question who you would want to be your presenter? Finally, Dave weights in on the best fictional football player of all-time (01:04:00).

Wait til you hear about our NFL ring ceremony concept...Jonah is back in from his Fresh year of college and contributes in a big way. Maria can best be described as mildly bemused and tolerant as the guys propose the following:1) What would you do if you had the Stanley Cup for a day?2) A total reimagining of the NFL Super Bowl ring ceremony. What if NFL Super Bowl rings were turned over every year like the Stanley Cup? 50 yard line, previous winners line up across from new winners and (Benny Hill theme starts playing) each player has to find another one to wear his ring.Would there be Red Carpet event fan overlap for the Super Bowl if there was a week long leadup with players discussing the rings, their potential outfits for the ceremony and who their potential targets might be?If this sounds to you like it might be a terrible idea, maybe you need to ask yourself this question: “If Elvis Grbac, 1994 Michigan Wolverines starting QB, thinks its a great idea...is it possible that maybe I’m the one missing the point?”*If you are an NFL athlete or know an NFL athlete, please explain to us why or how you think this will be successful and who to contact to make it work.*To date, Elvis Grbac is definitely unaware of this idea and may or may not think it’s a good idea. Please visit us at https://thetragedyacademy.com On social media, you can find us at @thetragedyacademypodcast on Instagram, The Tragedy Academy Podcast on Facebook, and @tragedy_academy on Twitter. 2/3/2020Season 10, Episode 75 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can and in this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to recapping Super Bowl LIV and how the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers Sunday night at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. We go over several key plays from Super Bowl LIV, the quarterback play and much, much, more. We also discuss if Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is now a lock for the Pro Football Hall of Fame now that he has won a Lombardi Trophy. We also discuss the future of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and him being the prototype for today’s NFL.The Pro football Hall of Fame has five new members as of Saturday night and that group includes former safety Troy Polamalu. We discuss Polamalu rightfully being elected Saturday and go over what all selection committee member Peter King had to say about not voting for him and why.Unfortunately for former Steelers guard Alan Faneca, the fifth time was not the charm for him on Saturday. Alex and I discuss Faneca’s Saturday snubbing and how it was likely because of bias against the Steelers. We compare Faneca’s career to that of Steve Hutchinson, one of the five Modern Era selections for the 2020 Pro Football Hall of Fame Class.Alex and I finally close out this Monday show by answering several email questions we received from listeners. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post. Thanks for listening and don’t forget to call or email with questions or comments and please pass us along to your friends!

A short break to discuss the winter soccer transfer window follows and the episode wraps up with a preview of Super Bowl LIV between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.IntroKobe Bryant: 1:33NFL Hall of Fame: 8:42NFL Honors/Awards: 20:13Soccer: 42:08Super Bowl LIV: 47:55
In this episode, I talk all things Pittsburgh sports with Josh Taylor (@JoshTaylorHD) from 93.7 The Fan & KDKA-TV. Will Troy Polamalu and Alan Faneca be elected to the Hall of Fame this year? Who will win the Super Bowl? Will the Pens make a big trade? Will the Pirates do a full rebuild?
1. Initial thoughts on Super Bowl LIV Me: -Opposite styles attract! Hal: Both teams have good offensive lines, especially at OT…and good DL too 2. Truth/Exaggeration -The 49ers ground game will be even more difficult for the Chiefs to stop than that of the Titans -The Chiefs wide receivers against the Niners DB’s is the biggest mismatch in favor of the Chiefs -Jimmy Garoppolo will have to throw for at least 250+ yards and 2 TD’s for the Niners to win -The Chiefs will have to allow less than 150 rushing yards for them to win -The 49ers will start the game throwing it over the yard with the Chiefs anticipating the run -Andy Reid should be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day REGARDLESS of Sunday’s outcome -A Niners win means that Kyle Shanahan’s father Mike will be enshrined in Canton within the next five years 3. David and Hal’s picks of the Modern Era Finalists for the Pro Football HOF Class of 2020 -Troy Polamalu, Steve Atwater, John Lynch, LeRoy Butler, Edgerrin James, Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, Reggie Wayne, Tony Boselli, Alan Faneca, Steve Hutchinson, Richard Seymour, Bryant Young, Sam Mills, Zach Thomas 4. 2019 NFL Awards AWARD DAVID’S CHOICE HAL’S CHOICE MVP Lamar Jackson Lamar Jackson Offensive POY Michael Thomas Christian McCaffrey Defensive POY Shaq Barrett Stephon Gilmore Offensive ROY Josh Jacobs Josh Jacobs Defensive ROY Nick Bosa Nick Bosa Comeback POY Ryan Tannehill Dalvin Cook Fantasy POY Christian McCaffrey Christian McCaffrey Breakout POY Courtland Sutton Shaq Barrett Most Improved POY Davante Parker Josh Allen Coach of the Year Kyle Shanahan Mike Vrabel Assistant Coach of the Year Greg Roman Dante Scarnecchia 5. Super Bowl LIV Analysis and Game Predictions -Key matchups: Nick Bosa vs. Eric Fisher, DeForest Buckner vs. Stefan Wisniewski -Rank these four potential deciding factors in order of importance for this game: Average starting field position, RZ efficiency, time of possession, turnovers -Predictions of final score, MVP, and unsung hero 6. BOLD PREDICTIONS ME: Dee Ford strip-sacks Patrick Mahomes on the final drive of the game to seal the win for the Niners HAL: Chiefs defense is going to hold the 49ers offense to 60 rushing yards or less 7. Challenge Flags ME: Jimmy G…shut the haters up and show us who you really are HAL: Patrick Mahomes…this is the year of destiny for you. SEIZE IT!!!!!

Super Bowl Sunday Yesterday we witnessed the Super Bowl. In what could only be described as the most boring game in Super Bowl history, the Patriots joined the Steelers at the grown ups table, amassing their 6th Lombardi Trophy in a game that resembled a baseball game in mid-June. The Patriots game-planned the 11th most prolific offense in NFL history into scoring purgatory, 13-3. Tony Romo showed his prodigious broadcasting and prognosticatory chops during the game. We talk about his true success rate in predicting the next play. News of the Steelers continues to disappoint as Alan Faneca was once again passed over for the Hall of Fame missing out in his fourth time as a finalist. Four linemen made it to the final 10 but only center Kevin Mawae was elected. Terry Bradshaw made the Wall Street Journal of all places, regaling readers about his path from childhood. This guy was no coddled superstar. He worked as hard on the farm as he did at his craft. Finally - what do you think about the Mean Joe Greene commercial with Aaron Donald? Joe was quite complimentary of his defensive line descendent
LSU kicker Cole Tracy joined us to talk about his record-setting year in Baton Rouge and what his NFL future might hold. He even described the party bud his dad rented for the Fiesta Bowl. We also discussed Alan Faneca and Kevin Mawae being names Hall of Fame finalists and their chance for induction this year. As always, we wrapped up with a LIVE Q&A that included thoughts on LSU staff changes and the impact Wayde SIms would have had on this LSU team. Learn more about your ad choices.
