The people of Serbia have come together to oust their corrupt government. Disgraced, former NSA Mike Flynn got another gig with the Trump Administration. My Pillow thought leader Mike Lindell got in trouble for running a sham charity.

MAGA made the world hate the USA and destroyed our allies' trust in us. Racist orc Trumpkin Tom Homan blathered drivel about ignoring judges and laws. A French legislator ripped the U.S. a new one and demanded we return the Statue of Liberty. House Democrats yelled at the Repubs for shielding Elmo from testifying about the imminent dismantling of social security. Useless minority Senate leader Schumer canceled a book tour. The pop group Semisonic condemned the White House of the use of their song Closing Time. The astronauts stuck in the space station finally made it back to Earth. Turncoat Gavin Newsom can eat rocks according to most libs. Creep Elon stopped shipping his ugly Cyber Trucks since they're falling apart like his rockets. MAGA may not care that their heroes, Donald Trump and Elon Musk, keep getting caught in lies, but for the sake of history, the rest of us will just have to keep chronicling it, anyway.The latest: claims that 150+ year old people are getting Social Security checks; well, that the Social Security Administration (SSA) is sending check to people born that long ago (and longer) who are obviously not alive. I mean, someone produced a table and put it on a meme so to MAGA, it must be true, yeah?Well, no. I mean, it's not that there aren't some instances of poor management in the SSA, but not at the level DOGE & Trump+Musk insist. --------While Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) insist DOGE is doing a "careful scrub" of federal agencies, what's actually happening is key nuclear personnel were fired (erroneously?) and now the Trump administration is scrambling to figure out how to reach those fired people to re-hire them but they closed their federal emails and didn't have updated contact information to reach them. They also did this with USDA experts working to combat bird flu, hoping to re-hire them as well. --------Then there's DOGE claiming they saved $8 billion from an Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) contract, which makes no sense when ICE only has a $9 billion budget altogether. In their own spreadsheet it was actually $8 million, but in a fraudulent move, an "m" becomes a "b" and, well ... there goes at least half of what DOGE claims its saving taxpayers. That said, Elon is now floating someone else's idea that maybe (not really) DOGE will send out $5000 rebate checks to each household (Trump loves signing checks to us, remember). "Sure, Jan."-------Georgia Republicans are floating legislation that would let property owners seek a property tax rebate if the city they're in doesn't "handle" homelessness and panhandling. Their solution is to punish cities (clearly, Atlanta, Athens, Augusta, Columbus, Macon & Savannah - blue dots on the red map) already lacking in the funds to aid the unhoused and poor by taking away more funds. No solution(s) or state assistance offered in the bill; just ... an exacerbating of the problem. If ever there were a Republican that encapsulates modern day conservatism, this is the one.

I've long said Republicans were unserious about addressing shortcomings in our immigration situation because they spend way more time seeking to demonize migrant (you know, "illegals") and not the real "illegals" (employers & human traffickers) menacing (in some cases abusing, exploiting, threatning and even killing) well-meaning migrant laborers.A recent sentencing of a human trafficking kingpin (queen pin?) shows the American judicial system is unserious about the very serious crimes committed.Nor are Republicans serious about the well-being of outdoor laborers - even those here legally and/or American citizens - in the face of rising temperatures.Take Florida, for example. Or Texas. WhileJoe Biden rolled out new OSHA standards,some Republicans just want to get rid of OSHA altogether.In Georgia, there's a bipartisan effort, at least, to create a state-run guest worker program that would be "subject to federal rules and regulations." Except again, some Republicans want OSHA to go away, so what rules and regulations will protect these workers?- - - - -Mitch McConnell has become a more reliable swing vote for Democrats than Susan Collins or Lisa Murkowski. Let that sink in. Still, asMitch takes to the Louisville press to opine about the dangers of Trump's tariff-heavy economic policy, I simply want to remind him - and his Kentucky constituents - he's the single-most complicit person to pin a second Trump presidency on other than Donald Trump himself. Hef*cked around;and around;and around. Now he, his constituents, and all of us, are finding out.The'60 Minutes' interview a few weeks backwas (in my view) a failed attempt at Mitch trying to re-cast himself for legacy's sake.

Turkey-bod Musk admitted he paid for his high score in that video game. Faux-hawk freak Vivek Ramaswamy will run for the governorship of Ohio and won't be part of DOGE. A lunatic evangelical blathered Christians need to a have a stomach for war. Food banks have stocked up because Trump's back in The White House. MAGAT-caster Elijah Schaffer caterwauled people of color aren't Americans. Charlie Kirk and some other load not worth naming said the orange wanker was God's greatest blessing, puke. Fecal star Rosanne Barr was featured in a racist, pro Trump "music" video.

President Joe Biden's final address from the Oval Office was - of coruse - bittersweet, but also came with warnings similar to Dwight D. Eisenhower's "industrial complex" foreshadowing, only for Biden, it was attached to oligarchs and "big tech." Doing a little "open tab" cleanup, I realized I hadn't gotten around to sharing this (too late now) narrative buster: as is the case in Texas, in Georgia, migrants are committing fewer crimes than Americans. Even still, some Democrats are trying to find "common ground" with the incoming Trump aura by caving on legislation targeting the undocumented. Oh, and proving it doesn't pay to even "go about it the right way," as Repubs insist immigrant laborers should, Georgia Attorney General (and gubernatorial candidate) Chris Carr would like to suppress federal minimums for agricultural immigrant labor. Because, of course.

Clearly, the blame for California's current, deadly (perhaps worst-ever) wildfire lies at the feet of (checks notes) Governor Gavin Newsom, L.A. mayor Karen Bass and D.E.I. and not wild climate shifts, (aka 'hydroclimate whiplash') parched dry vegetation and hurricane-force winds fomenting a wildfire out of New Year's Eve fireworks. Oh, or 20th century sprawl and a water system not designed to fight wildfires (but whose is?) It's not as if we've been warned about the sort of dystopian scene many years before, like, say in 1958 or when Exxon executives knew in the 1970s climate change was a near-future reality and buried it. No, clearly the Los Angeles Fire Department hiring so many "diversity" applicants and ignoring the inane ramblings of Donald Trump is what wrought all this havoc and destruction.

Jay Bookman wrote a blistering-yet-sobering piece last week for the Georgia Recorder where he spells it out plainly: Republicans pick on the trans community because 'it works," writing "Because transgender Americans are an unpopular, powerless and almost friendless subgroup, which makes them the perfect target for politicians willing to leverage that unpopularity into votes." See, legislating for all Americans to ensure diversity & inclusion is really hard, whereas throughout American history, political leaders have consistently chosen the path of least resistance: selective bigotry. Marginalizing subsets is as American as apple pie, much like school bullies pick on the "unpopular, powerless and almost friendless" kid(s). Kinda pathetic, isn't it? On the topic of trans people and schools, it took mere minutes for Georgia Republican Senator Greg Dolazal to lob some anti-trans "red meat" - again, because equality and inclusion are too hard for him - on the first day of the 2025 General Assembly session. Surely this means it's the most important item on the Georgai GOP agenda. Meanwhile the recently exited special counselor, Jack Smith, finally had one of his two volumes of final reports on cases involving Donald Trump released. Were we in normal times or in a nation that truly believed in a blind justice or justice at all, the findings would be damning. Instead, the convicted felon at the heart of that and the still-held-tightly classified documents case will be sworn in as President in six days. He, the leader of the party of "the rule of law."

The Representative from Florida's First District, who surely has the most DUIs in Congress and was facing an ethics probe for child-sex-trafficking, is Shitler's pic for AG. Weekend, second string host FOX News dufus Pete Hegseth was tapped by Man-baby for Secretary of Defense. A former FOXbot fumed over Hegseth's potential ascension to the White House cabinet. The orange stain might have issues wrangling purple Repubs in the House, but don't hold your breath. Notre Dame, the Cathedral, was finally rebuilt.  A House Democrat introduced a resolution to limit Dear Leader to only two terms as POTUS. Walrus-like InfoWars front man Alex Jones handed over audio gear and his studio to the government for a bankruptcy auction to pay his debt to the Sandy Hook parents. Facebook Czar Mark Zuckerberg, who happens to be a black belt in something and is an avid surfer, owns a super yacht that burned 400,000 liters of fuel during a 12 day journey where the Zuck wasn't on board. We are all in this together. :)

NBC News pulled the plug on the 'Ronna McDaniel' experiment, but I find it noteworthy the same conservative cabal that found no issues with her being given her walking papers by Trump and the RNC suddenly had advice and dismay over her treatment by the news bureau. Ya can't fire someone then be outraged when someone else finds fault with her, too. Also: yeah, for once in American history, enabling insurrectionists carries a burden. The Maryland bridge disaster became a political football within hours of a cargo ship veering into said bridge. Somehow it became about vaccines, Hunter Biden's laptop and - get this - DEI! Also, Georgia's Rep. Mike Collins chose to whip out the "race card" and openly wonder what Baltimorians will want a replacement bridge named since they'll surely choose not to affix slave owner/white suremacist (and 'Star Spangled Banner' writer) Francis Scot Key's name to its replacement. More discussion (thanks to a Darin Given's tweet of an Atlanta Business Chronicle paywalled story) about the much-debated Beltline rail expansion, today, too, in the aftermath of Mayor Andre Dickens' 'state of the city' speech where he touted MARTA in-fill stations but said not one word about streetcar expansion. Ho hum; another "Beltline businesses fear their business will suffer" story. Sorry; not buying it. Also we've a term in real estate: "buyer beware." If you're unaware of forthcoming projects that can impact your quality of life, it's on you that you aren' aware. If you are, and you go "all in" anyway, again, that's on you. Also, it rains in Atlanta - on average - 113 days per year. Someone explain to me like I'm smooth-brained how that streetcar wouldn't actually BOOST business the nearly one-third of the calendar year rain keeps people off said Beltline?

A perfectly well-meaning bill introduced by freshman Rep. Omari Crawford passed out of the Georgia House and went into yesterday's Senate education subcommittee hearing, where five ultra-right wing measures - some explicitly anti-LGBTQIA+ - were attached to it. Hear Crawford present his bill, ask that only it be considered (it wouldn't be) and then hear Sen. Clint Dixon pile on the "red meat" that couldn't get out of Senate Rules committee already. All these GOP measures are backed by Lt. Governor Burt Jones - an announced gubernatorial candidate for the 2026 cycle, incidentally. Hear Senators Elena Parent and Sonya Halpern skewer this nonsense. Then I'm joined by Jeff Graham, executive director at Georgia Equality for reaction and their planned on-site response at the gold dome.

Mike Lindell totally has real evidence this time (lol). The House passed a bill that could ban TikTok. Conservative toolbox Mike Johnson's GOP retreat proved to be a bust as Repubs decided to skip the event. Republicans have been leaving Congress because they can't handle their fellow MAGATS. A Cali prison was raided by the FBI because officials were raping inmates. After an abortion medication case, federal courts tried to restrict the practice of "judge shopping." Students in Florida can now say "gay" in the classroom but teachers can't include the term in lesson plans. Anti-vax baller Aaron Rodgers or former wrestler Jesse Ventura might be RFK's running mate. A campaign expert hired by Trump for $750,000 found no evidence of voter fraud in 2020. A ruling in Texas is a bad omen of what's to come with the SCOTUS regarding birth control.

SCOTUS agreed to take up Trump's ridiculous immunity claim. Moscow Mitch blathered something about knowing when to leave and then Strokey Smurf announced his retirement from the Senate. An organized group of progressives in Michigan used their primary to protest Biden's support of Israel's war crimes in Gaza. Shitler can't afford the required bond to appeal the financial penalty levied against him in the New York fraud case. A crappy GOP Senator from Mississippi blocked a bill that would protect access to IVF treatment. Boebert E. Lee's dumb kid was busted for burglary and a bunch of thieving-related felonies. After a keen move from Jack Smith, Trump-sucker Judge Aileen Cannon decided to redact sensitive national security info since man-baby's legal team can't be trusted. Lara, married to the ugliest Trump, said Repubs would love to pay her creepy Father-in-law's legal bills. Christian nationalism is gross and most people hate it. Four states in our very stupid country want to lock up women who get a divorce while pregnant.  

DC Circuit court unanimously ruled Trump is not immune. Shitler blathered something stupid about the ruling which included a threat to Obama and other former presidents. Special Counsel for the United States Department of Justice Jack Smith might try to have Judge Aileen Cannon removed from the case over her catering to the former guy's baseless requests. GOP candidate Nikki Haley lost the Nevada primary to "none of these candidates." Neckless Fox-load Sean Hannity interviewed a fascist Guardian Angel while another "Guardian", just off camera, beat a fellow human for being brown. The impeachment of the Secretary of Homeland Security by the idiot Repubs of the House failed. Wanker Ronna McDaniel quit the RNC because she's powerless and useless against Trump. Bad politicians and oppressive local laws are causing Americans to move to more progressive parts of the country. Republican simpleton Dusty Devers declared a holy way upon adult videos. The ex of Boebert said the restraining order from his former wife was cruel and unjust. Tooty Rudy has nary a cent left in his smelly piggy bank.

Just weeks before the House GOP is scheduled to take the gavels in the lower chamber, the conference voted 52-158 against an amendment proposed by Rep. Tom McClintock of California that would eliminate their rule enabling lawmakers to earmark spending bills if they meet specific transparency benchmarks.

This is one of our favorite episodes. Before this podcast, Flula (aka DJ Flula [flʊla bɔɐ̯k], a German actor, musician, comedian, YouTube personality, and DJ whom you may have seen in The Suicide Squad, Pitch Perfect 2, Curb Your Enthusiasm...) and Rick only met once, for a moment.
