Hour 4 Aaron Judge needs to have a Jeter moment in the playoffs this season to cap it all off. Boomer says if he were the Yankees, he would make a fair offer to Judge and let the offer stand for 24 hours and that's it. Boomer said Judge has to take the highest offer for all the players that come after him. Jerry returns for an update with some sounds from last night's Yankees game 1 win over Cleveland. We got a new HR call from John Sterling for Harrison Bader. Brian Daboll was asked about being called a bad 4-1 team. Mike Tomlin takes the blame for his team's performance in Buffalo. He also said something about ‘shoot a hostage' and we have no idea what that means. And the Rangers beat the Lightning last night in their season opener at MSG. In the final segment of the show, we talked about Boomer & Gio golfing yesterday for Boomer's foundation. People from the Jets organization that were there are cautiously optimistic about the season.
Tonight on Episode 140 we are going to get into the greatest debate about ketchup that the world has ever seen. In one corner we have the food content creator and golden voice Brandon J McDermott. In the other corner, is the self-proclaimed master debater Toby. Toby has been watching the Johnny Deep trial and is ready for this and Brandon has been on Judge Jerry and is also ready to go. I'm not overly sure what Beard Laws, Logan, and producer Zac are going to do during this. Probably just watch or referee. We do have some other stuff like the picker wheel ready to go so if you are not a fan of ketchup it's ok still stop by. It will be a show you will either want to forget or might never forget. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/beardlaws/support

Jerry Springer steps Behind The Rope. One of the most Iconic names in daytime TV is here to chat about it all. Although Jerry was set to retire after his unprecedented twenty seven year run as Host of The Jerry Springer Show, NBC had other plans and Judge Jerry was born. Jerry chats about how nice it is to use his law degree and what we can expect in the upcoming third season of the always shocking, never boring, Judge Jerry. Of course, the conversation quickly leads to The Jerry Springer Show and all those trailblazing disputes, wig pulls, accusations, and everything else under the sun that was before its time as it aired each day on our small screens. Jerry recalls highlights, outrageous guests and some of the most shocking moments. We chat with Jerry about current day Reality TV and his role in helping create the landscape of Housewives, Fiancés That Last for 90 Days and Love that Comes After Being Locked Up and / or Happens on an Island. Jerry also opens up about the current offerings of Daytime TV - Ellen, The Drew Barrymore Show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Wendy Williams - his favorites, not so favorites and how cancel culture has come to play a role in it all. We pay homage to some of Jerry's other forays into television - a contestant on Dancing With the Stars, a judge on America's Got Talent, playing himself on Roseanne and much more. Jerry reflects back on a career most can dream of discussing highs and lows, the biggest misconceptions of himself, and just what is next for the man who everyone just cannot seem to get enough of. Jerry's Baaack!Jerry returns to the podcast although he's still busy working on Judge Jerry episodes until the first week of September. There are now three major social media networks that disseminate most of the news people get their information from. A lot of that is misinformation and voters are casting their votes based on that disinformation. These social media companies need to be accountable for the information they allow on their websites. Their decision to ban Trump was the right one.Simone Biles has received a lot of flack for her decision to drop out of Olympic events. Her mental health and performance anxiety were cited as the reason. Why it it so unfair for critics to call her weak when they are eating chips on the couch. Including Jerry's friend Piers Morgan. Jerry talks about his own stage fright on the Broadway play Chicago. Pop artist Corduroy Brown joins us to talk about being literally brought back to life after a near death experience. He talks about seeing light at the end (his soul floating away) and how precious life is. His new debut album is titled "Let Me Know". Jene introduces his Summer series "Riding Down America". This is the first of a five part series where Jene talks about his experience biking from Canada to Mexico. He's traveling 60 miles per day through rugged terrain. Then camping out at mostly primitive campsites. Before even beginning the trip his bike was damaged en route to Montana via Amtrek. There's been a couple of harrowing Semi-trucks blasting their horns while Jene and his friend hug their bikes as closely as possible to the shoulder of the road. Stay tuned for next week when Jene catches us up to date on his upcoming adventures. Follow us on social media to see pictures and hear day to day stories. Dustin Plantholt’s “Life’s Tough—You Can Be Tougher” podcast this week is sponsored by Mint Home Loans and features Jerry Springer, renowned American television host, politician, news presenter, actor, producer, musician, and former lawyer. Springer revolutionized daytime TV with his ultra-popular show, The Jerry Springer Show, a daytime talk show featuring controversial topics and outrageous guest behavior. Springer currently hosts a courtroom show called Judge Jerry where he presides over actual legal disputes. Gerald Norman “Jerry” Springer was born on February 13, 1944 in London, England to Jewish refugees—Margot Kallmann, a bank clerk and Richard Springer, owner of a shoe shop—who escaped Nazi Germany to avoid persecution. Other family members, including his paternal grandmother, were not as fortunate as they perished in concentration camps during the holocaust. In January 1949, Jerry’s family immigrated to the United States, settling in Kew Gardens, Queens, New York. He attended Forest Hills High School and later earned a B.A. degree from Tulane University in 1965, majoring in political science; and subsequently earned a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago in 1968. One of his earliest memories about current and political events was when he was 12 and watching the 1956 Democratic National Convention on television where he saw and was impressed by John F. Kennedy. That interest in politics led him to work on the presidential campaign of Robert F. Kennedy, after graduating law school. After Kennedy’s assassination, he joined the Cincinnati law firm of Frost & Jacobs (now Frost Brown Todd) and then became a partner in the law firm of Grinker, Sudman & Springer (from 1973 to 1985). In the early 1970s Jerry embarked on his own political career in Ohio, serving on Cincinnati’s city council. Not without some career lows, he was forced to resign from the council over a controversial issue, although he regained his seat at the next election. Despite being a liberal in relatively conservative Cincinnati, he was elected mayor of the city in 1977 (served 1977–78). After a failed bid in the early 1980’s for the Democratic nomination for governor of Ohio he decided to pursue television journalism and began work as a reporter at a local television station. He later became anchor and was the recipient of seven Emmy Awards for commentaries during his tenure. In 1991 he branched out into talk shows with the debut of The Jerry Springer Show. Initially centered on political issues—guests included Oliver North and Jesse Jackson, and topics included homelessness and gun politics—the program struggled in its first few seasons. In early 1994, the show underwent a complete overhaul as Springer and his new producer, Richard Dominick, revamped the show’s format to garner higher ratings. Guests were everyday people confronted on a television stage by controversial situations that often promoted shouting or violence on stage. Although criticized by some as being staged and condemned by many political and community leaders as “trash TV,” it proved immensely popular with television viewers and received substantial ratings and much attention. By 1998, it was beating The Oprah Winfrey Show in many cities, and was reaching more than 6.7 million viewers. The show even inspired an opera—debuting in London in 2003—which won a Laurence Olivier Award for best new musical; and was subsequently staged in various U.S. cities. Other career highlights include being named “One of the 10 Most Fascinating People” in 1998; an appearance on the popular show Dancing With the Stars in 2006; Winner, 2008 Fox Reality Channel Really Award for “Favorite Host” for America’s Got Talent; playing Billy Flynn in the Broadway theatrical production of “Chicago;” host of the 2008 Miss Universe Pageant. In 1998 Jerry starred in the movie Ringmaster, which was based on a Springer-esque television show. His other film credits include Citizen Verdict (2003) and The Defender (2004), in which he played the president of the United States. He has also made several TV appearances as himself and has acted in several television sitcoms. His autobiography, Ringmaster! (written with Laura Morton), was published in 1998. And as a self-described “country singer-songwriter,” Jerry has opened for Billy Ray Cyrus and has performed at actor Johnny Depp’s notorious club, the Viper Room. Springer is married and is a lifelong New York Yankees fan. Join Dustin and Jerry for a candid talk on his successful and sometimes controversial career and how he maintains clarity and peace amongst criticism and judgement. As Jerry says, “I think technology has changed the way we see things. Human behavior has not changed in the last 3,000 years. There is nothing that has ever been on our show that isn’t in the Bible, that isn’t in literature, that isn’t in Shakespeare.”
Jerry Springer knows television and politics — and the proud liberal can't stand Donald Trump. So how do you get "Judge Jerry" fired up? Ask Springer whether the networks should be airing Trump's daily coronavirus press conferences. "There is no excuse now that we know what they're like for just turning on the cameras," Springer told The Enquirer's That's So Cincinnati podcast (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/thats-so-cincinnati/id1429999971?ign-mpt=uo%3D4&ls=1&mt=2) . "The reporters should be there, and then write their reports or report it on the news that night. But to just turn the cameras on Trump for an hour and a half. that's not journalism. That's technology. I blame the journalists for this now. I could see the first couple of days – or maybe even weeks – doing it." Springer, the former Cincinnati mayor and one-time Channel 5 anchor, continued: "But now that we see what the routine is – that Trump gets up there and spews his stuff and then finally the doctors get up there and basically refute what he's saying – the public is not being helped." Stuck at home in Sarasota, Florida, Springer is waiting to return to the NBCUniversal studios in Connecticut to record more episodes of "Judge Jerry," a syndicated, reality court show that debuted last fall. Springer, 76, also continues to record his weekly Jerry Springer Podcast with Greater Cincinnatians Jene Galvin and Maria Carelli via conference call. Once life gets back to normal, Springer plans to resume his weekly trips into Cincinnati to record the podcast. In a wide-ranging interview on That's So Cincinnati, Springer didn't mince words in criticizing Trump and Trump supporters. Springer also discussed: About flirting with running for Ohio governor in 2018 In 2017, Springer told The Enquirer "I could be Trump without the racism" (https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/politics-extra/2017/02/10/springer-could-trump-without-racism/97601736/) amid rumors swirling about him running for governor. He opened up more about considering that race. "I was pretty close (to running), because there were people in the party who were very supportive," Springer said. "I hadn't thought about it in years, and all of a sudden, they send me a poll. I could see why I was in the discussion, simply because I'm well known." He added: "It wasn't that easy a decision. I'm pretty glib about it now. I had to think: Do I really have the energy? The adrenaline can keep going when you're in a race. But then what if I had won? And now at this age, when I take naps in the afternoon ... I have to be honest: I think I would have the energy, but I don't know that for sure." Tale of two Republican governors Ohio's Mike DeWine has been lauded worldwide for his proactive and cautious approach to handling the coronavirus. On the other hand, few governors have been more criticized than Florida's Ron DeSantis, who was reluctant to shutdown beaches and was late to issue stay-at-home orders. Springer offered his assessment of the governors in his former state and current state. On DeWine: "I may disagree with a lot of his politics, but he's not a crazy person. He's a bright person and he's responding to what is obvious: If we don't have social distancing. If we don't do what the doctors and the scientists are telling us, this thing is going to come back again and destroy the economy for another five years. Yeah, he's Republican but he's a common sense kind of person. He's going to get a lot of credit and frankly he deserves." On DeSantis: "Well, you know, he's horrible. He was going to be Trump's boy. Those were his (campaign) commercials. He was going to do whatever Trump said. So what he's doing is not surprising and it's dangerous." Still loves Cincinnati politics Springer has long maintained relationships with a handful of Cincinnati Democrats, including City Councilman David Mann and former local party Chairman Tim Burke. Springer and Mann served on City Council in the 1970s. In recent months, Mann has been considering a run for mayor in 2021 and he reached out to Springer for advice. "I would support David Mann for whatever he ran for because there's no conceivable way David Mann would make an irrational decision," Springer said. "He is like if you ran to your father for advice. Add to his demeanor and his rationality, his intelligence and knowledge and, you know, that's pretty tough to beat. "My text (to Mann) was, I think I said: "Hell yes!"

For all the controversy around the Jerry Springer Show and its reflections on our culture, Jerry Springer himself remains. Born in England after his parents fled Nazi Germany, Springer followed passions of politics and law; becoming a mayor led him into news, which led to the ascent of The Jerry Springer Show in 1991. Now, as 2020 nears, his law experience takes center stage as he begins a new career and show as a legal judge deciding real cases on a new show, Judge Jerry. How did this all happen? Eric Paulsen talks with Jerry about how his life interests and fate brought him to this point in his unique career.
