Season 7 - Episode 13.6 (Bonus) This is a surprise, unscheduled bonus episode of Legendary Adventures, a Legend of Zela playthrough Podcast. This is Season 7, which is all about The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, and Oracle of Seasons. I've just started my playthrough of a Linked game of Oracle of Seasons – but on Friday I released a short bonus episode highlighting some of the differences in the start of an unlinked game.  I got a few requests to do something similar with the linked opening of Oracle of Ages – so we're just going to fit that in right here before we get too deep into Oracle of Seasons.    Follow Legendary Adventures on social media.       In the final episode of Season 4 I record a special cross over with my friend and mentor Dr Andrea Austin. For regular listeners Dr Austin will need no introduction. A fellow Emergency Physician practising in San Diego California, Andrea is also a simulator educator and director of  emergency residency simulation training program, a coach, podcast host of the excellent The Revitalising Doctor podcast https://therevitalizingdoctor.buzzsprout.com and co-founder of the Revitalize Women Physician Circle platform https://www.peoplealwayshcc.com/revitalize creating a space for women physicians to come together for peer mentoring, coaching, community and connection. Her full bio can be found here : https://www.andreaaustinmd.com/about    Andrea and I first connected through our mutual colleague Dr Dan Dworkis host of https://www.emergencymind.com/podcast and I am personally very grateful to him for bringing us together across the world.       Having met once in person and multiple times virtually now through our regular "Frentor" connect virtual meetings, in this special cross over podcast we decided to record one of our conversations. The end of a big year professional and personally for Andrea was an opportune time to reflect on lessons learned, challenges encountered and also to look ahead to horizons two and three in 2024 and explore goals, aspirations and opportunities.      Themes discussed here include post-traumatic growth, knowing your worth and how to navigate a portfolio career and opportunities whilst setting necessary boundaries for self-care and sustainable practice. As a continuation of our earlier recorded episodes I was most struck and impressed by the evolution of Andrea's values as internal compass and anchor as she moves through the world.     We discuss some of her podcast guest highlights, coaching practice and the exciting developments of the Revitalize Women's Physicians Circle in 2024. Finally we are treated to a taster to her upcoming book Revitalized at the end of the episode which will be linked here when it is live.  In the second part of our conversation Andrea turns the mic on me on her podcast : Previous episodes with Dr Austin https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/the-mind-full-medic-podcast/id1513559414?i=1000538191164https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/the-mind-full-medic-podcast/id1513559414?i=1000569869230Andrea's Reading recommendations https://www.penguin.com.au/books/if-i-betray-these-words-9781586423544 https://www.hachette.com.au/katherine-morgan-schafler/the-perfectionists-guide-to-losingcontrol#:~:text=In%20The%20Perfectionist%27s%20Guide%20to,advice%20to%20%27find%2The Mind Full Medic Podcast is proudly sponsored by the MBA NSW-ACT Find out more about their service or donate today at www.mbansw.org.auDisclaimer: The content in this podcast is not intended to constitute or be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. When we have an anchor in ventral, we can then go visit sympathetic and dorsal without being hijacked by it. In this episode of Therapist Uncensored,Co-host Sue Marriott explores the intersection of Polyvagal Theory, neuroscience, and attachment with Deb Dana. We will investigate how the mind creates stories from information relayed by the nervous system, and how we can rewrite the script to move toward security. Meeting Deb DanaDeb Dana is a clinician and consultant who works with trauma She has a training program called the Rhythm of Regulation Goals of this: understand the nervous system and help people become active operators of their own system Story Follows StateThe mind narrates what the nervous system knows Therapeutic goal: bringing explicit awareness to implicit processes Neuroception: our nervous system has a response to what is going on in the world and looks to others for cues of safety and danger The brain tries to make sense of what is happening in the body on a physiological level by making up a story Many of us have nervous systems that are shaped by experiences to be wary of connection; this is something that we work on shifting in therapy The Nervous System and AttachmentThe nervous system services our survival and sets the stage for attachment We have two survival states: Sympathetic: mobilized, energetic state- we see red folks here! Dorsal vagal collapse: immobilized, disconnected state- we see blue folks here! The Hopefulness in Polyvagal Theory“Experience shapes the nervous system and ongoing experience reshapes the nervous system” When shame reduces, curiosity arises The Autonomic LadderIt can be helpful to identify where you currently stand on the ladder, as well as track where you are going on the ladder Ladder orientation from top down- ventral vagal (anchored state), sympathetic (activated state), dorsal (collapsed state) Take Home TipsUse your voice! Intonation before information. We send cues of safety or danger through our tone of voice. Each nervous system is different in how it comes back into repair, and it changes over time. In a ventral state, there is community. If you’re in trouble, go social! No Justice, Just Us Ken's guest is Attorney Dan Wassmer, former Bucks County assistant Solicitor, dodging discussing why lawyers are so damn expensive, the evils of corporate personhood, blatantly racist courts, or how they've effectively monopolized the “justice” system and excluded regular people. What “sticks in Ken's craw” this week is another one of no one's favorite: Inept drivers Found in this episode: What's in the Mail Bag? 00:02:30-00:13:00 Don't lower the drinking age – eliminate it! How Rhode Island Taxes Retirees

Whoa! Rhode Island has really done a good job at reducing the burden on their retirees. You may not even realize this because some of the primary websites that analyze state taxes on retirees miss the boat (I am looking at YOU Kiplinger's and Smart Asset!!!) I ran a simulation for a retired couple in Rhode Island with $50k in Social Security income and $50k in 401k or pension income... they'd pay all of $2k in taxes. That's not too bad, my friends. Why so low? Because Rhode Island has a new benefit that allows retirees with income under to exempt $15k per person from qualified plan distributions. BE ADVISED IRAs ARE NOT INCLUDED!!! And if income is below $100k Rhode Island doesn't tax Social Security either. This is all good. Sales tax is in the middle of the pack when TOTAL sales tax are included, state and locality. Property taxes are high with little exemptions, clocking in at over 1.50%. But give credit to the new Democratic governor for getting these tax bills through that are definitely favorable to retirees. http://www.tax.ri.gov/notice/Pub.%202017-01%20--%20Guide%20to%20tax%20break%20on%20pension%20income%20--%2010-03-17.pdf --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/josh-scandlen-podcast/support
