A few months ago Ralph published a video, The Case for Loud, where he considered how frequently in Sacred Scripture we are exhorted to full-hearted praise and worship, making a joyful noise to the Lord, playing loudly on our instruments, and how we should be open to this dimension of our response to God. This week, Ralph considers the equally important role that quiet and silence play in our relationship with the Lord. He recommends a book called Holy Silence that is a great resource for growing in silence in our life. For a copy of "Fulfillment of All Desire" visit https://www.renewalministries.net/shop/product/fulfillment-of-all-desire/.

Way of the Heart continues diving deeper into the theme of “the Good Life.” Joined by Bishop Scott McCaig, the guys dive into conversation regarding the 4 levels of happiness and how that contributes towards our fulfillment. They discuss how the levels of happiness help motivate us to become a better person and often leads to improving the quality of life for yourself and family. They also take a look into the many unhealthy desires for success that people hold in their hearts. This episode is a must listen for anyone wanting to learn more about how to use the levels of happiness to satisfy their needs for fulfillment. Key Points The good life is reaching happiness on all four of it's levels The foundations of the idea of the good life is the Greek philosophers Finding happiness in something external is the most basic level of happiness: material objects, physical pleasures, etc. The pros and cons associated with the pursuit of each level of happiness Owning possessions is fine unless you let the possessions own you Happiness by comparison. Being happy due to your successes. Happiness from doing good for others. Happiness from reaching out with our hearts to other people. Perfect happiness recognizes that our deepest fulfillment yearns for something not of this world: Heaven. References“Fulfillment of All Desire” by Ralph Martin “Finding True Happiness” by Fr. We have come to our fifth and final episode on "The Fulfillment of All Desire" by Dr. Ralph Martin. I strongly encourage you to buy the book and pray with it throughout your life.
We continue our exploration of "The Fulfillment of All Desire" by Dr. Ralph Martin. As noted before, this book deserves a podcast devoted entirely to uncovering the wisdom in it, I am hoping to at least get the basics down in five episodes.
We continue the dive into the book "The Fulfillment of All Desire" by Dr. Ralph Martin. After reaching stability in the spiritual life, we then start moving forward again. As before, the Saints will be guiding us through this next stage of the journey.
We continue the dive into the book "The Fulfillment of All Desire" by Dr. Ralph Martin. After turning to God on the path to holiness, inevitably sin creeps in and divert us. The Saints have much to say to help us combat this inclination to sinfulness, and we explore their wisdom in this episode.
The book "The Fulfillment of All Desire" by Dr. Ralph Martin is a must read. After rereading it earlier this year, I thought it merited a deep dive to explore some of the great insights from the Saints on the spiritual journey to God.
“Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” - Matthew 7:13-14 Arise, Beloved invites you to join us in season three as we journey closer to Jesus on The Narrow Way. As Kateri and I prayed about which direction the Lord wanted to take Arise, Beloved in 2021, we knew that we were to continue to provide a place where women can find the restorative and healing love of Jesus. However, we also have realized this past year just how real and powerful the spiritual war raging around us is. Through more prayer and conversation we felt called to center Arise, Beloved on the Narrow Way. Our world desperately needs holy women who are leading each other deeper to Christ on the Narrow Way. For this third season of our podcast, Kateri and I will be breaking down just what it means to choose the Narrow Way. In this first episode, we explain why we have chosen this as our focus and invite you to chose the Narrow Way with us. Near the end we share the foundational resources we have been using for our formation on the Narrow Way and we want to share them with you: Kateri’s List: Scripture The Spiritual Combat and a Treatise on Peace of Soul by Dom Lorenzo Scupoli Diary of St Faustina Mary Kate’s List: Scripture The Fulfillment of All Desire by Dr. Ralph Martin Spiritual Warfare and the Discernment of Spirits by Dan Burke Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis
#89: The Fulfillment of All Desire!Being Human is not easy. We are called to love and to walk with one another. We all need someone to help us carry our Cross. We all need a Savior. Saint John Paul II opened his first encyclical as Pope, Redemptor Hominis (The Redeemer of Man) with these words, "The Redeemer of man, Jesus Christ, is the center of the universe and of history. To Him go my thoughts and my heart in this solemn moment of the world that the Church and the whole family of present-day humanity are now living.Don't forget to sign up for our Newsletter!! In this week's episode, we have the final night of the Lenten Mission. Ralph focused on Chapter 14 of The Fulfillment of All Desire, "A Deeper Purification," seeking to answer the question: what are dark nights and how do we navigate them? One aspect of the answer? As Ralph says, "This is customized love, this is personal love. This is God the Father knowing perfectly well who we are and LOVING us, knowing completely what our imperfections are and LOVING us. So much so that he wants to really remove these things that separate us from him." For the booklet offer in this week's episode, visit www.renewalministries.net/STF and use the code STFLENT. This offer is available until midnight Saturday, March 27.
In this week's episode, Ralph continues his four-week Lenten Mission on The Fulfillment of All Desire focusing on Chapter 5: "The Transformation of Thought, Desire and Action." He introduces more of Therese of Lisieux's writing and shows how her narrative of how the various channels of grace worked to transform her can give us an insight into how the same channels of grace can transform us. The icon mentioned at 52:12 is Christ Pantocrator and is this week's episode art. In this week's episode, Ralph begins a four-week Lenten Mission on Fulfillment of All Desire with an exposition of the "biblical world view" that all the saints shared, which included an acute awareness of the shortness of life and the "one thing necessary" – repenting, believing and growing in union with Jesus. He described John of the Cross' and Catherine of Siena's particular way of expressing these realities, and set the stage for next week's talk which will examine how Therese of Lisieux's life and writings can help us deepen our relationship with the Lord and grow in holiness. Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/zkfJ-gSMdUg Today's Catholic culture is marked by a profound and settled religious indifferentism. Among many Catholics, to say what the Church has always taught—that Jesus Christ is the one way to salvation—is considered offensive, or at best, rash. In certain countries, the bishops' conferences have practically made a policy against seeking converts from other religions (or lack thereof). Catholics, ruled by fear of human respect and compromised by their own private sins, are finding more and more reasons not to proclaim Christ's moral teachings as well. Ralph Martin, whose new book A Church in Crisis: Pathways Forward is a comprehensive spiritual diagnosis of our present situation, joins the show to discuss the many factors contributing to religious indifferentism. These include theological doubts about whether anyone really goes to hell (thanks, Balthasar), the therapeutic culture which has lost any sense of sin and justice, the focus on legalistic analysis of culpability rather than the need to change, and fear of human respect. In our final night of the Advent Mission, we continued to delve into the wisdom of the saints, who are great spiritual masters of the interior life. We will pick up our study of The Fulfillment of All Desire again in Lent; we hope you will join us! Among many rich topics, in night four Ralph looks at a principle of the Christian life rooted in Acts 14:22 - “Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.” No one escapes suffering; we are all called to take up our cross and follow Christ. We all have to choose between the cross of Christ and the cross of Satan.

Hands down one of my favorite books of all time. Dr. Ralph Martin's The Fulfillment of All Desire played a huge role in my desire to learn about, and grow in, the spiritual life. It's a classic. (I've got hand-written notes all over the margins in my copy.) 2016 is the tenth anniversary of it's publication and it still sells like crazy. Why? Because it presents the path of spiritual growth from the masters of the spiritual life: Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross, Bernard of Clairvaux, Francis de Sales, Augustine, and more. This book blew my mind and helped ignite the fire of love in my life for Christ. If you don't know Ralph, he's the Director of Graduate Theology Programs in the New Evangelization and an associate professor of theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in the Archdiocese of Detroit, president of Renewal Ministries, and host of the tv and radio show “The Choices We Face”. In case you didn't think him cool enough already, Ralph was appointed by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI as a Consultor to the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization...that's totally cool. And today, Ralph is on the show to talk about the The Fulfillment of All Desire and the spiritual life in general. In addition to nuggets of wisdom from the book, we'll discuss: How Ralph got into spiritual theology and the difference it's made in his life The huge impact of St. John Paul II in the universal call to holiness The 4 principles that govern the spiritual life The 3 stages of the spiritual life Ralph's biggest piece of advice for someone trying to grow in holiness Prepare to be inspired!
