We're joined by one of our all-time favorite guests—Andy Garvey himself, the one and only Patrick Labyorteaux!Patrick and Alison take us behind the scenes of this unforgettable episode, where (surprise!) Nellie proves once again she's the absolute worst. Poor Andy!Patrick shares stories about working with his on-screen parents, his real-life adoptive parents, how he was directed in the episode, and what it was like growing up alongside his equally talented brother, Matthew. But we've got questions…Why was Alice the worst teacher ever? Why did Nellie literally write the answers in her coat lining?!Can we all agree—no one feels good getting a whooping? And finally… was Patrick actually psychotic as a child? You have to hear the story. Then, Patrick joins us again on Patreon to talk about how being a child actor today compares to his time on Little House on the Prairie—and what's changed over the years.Don't forget to subscribe, comment, leave a review, and share this episode with fellow Bonnetheads.Links and Resources:Haven't signed up for Patreon yet? Two orphaned kids, Michael and Josh, get help from Huston Lamb, care taker of the A.G.B.A blind school, when they run away from an orphanage instead of being separated. While full of good intentions, this plan is only a temporary fix and even Charles can not come up with a better solution. It's only after Huston's health is jeopardized trying to care for the boys that he comes forward to share his thoughts and feelings with the potential adoptive parents. The Ingalls take a backseat in this Garvey centric episode. When young Andy Garvey demonstrates less than stellar academic aptitude, school mom Alice Garvey will go to any lengths to help him improve his GPA. Unfortunately, top student Albert is letting his grades slide (and isn't Alice's first choice of tutor) leaving her only one option: Nellie Oleson. Wanting to make his school mom happy with better grades, Andy follows Nellie's lead and starts to cheat. As his grades rise, Andy starts heading down a shame spiral. Even after being confronted by Laura, Andy feels he's in too deep with no way of saving his conscience. It's not until Charles makes his appearance in the episode that Andy starts his way back to being an honest student. Is an F minus really a thing? Will Alice Garvey start enforcing a dress code in class? Will Andy and Nellie have to repeat a grade? It's as if you opened your eyes and it's the next day. Season 5 Begins/continues right where season 4 left off, with the end of Walnut Grove. The Ingalls are stopping in town to say good bye one last time to whomever is still around before leaving. With one last visit to the outhouse, the Ingallls are off on a stock footage wagon trip to Winoka in Dakota territory. And while Mary gets situated at the school for the blind, Dreamy Adam Kendall gives Charles and Caroline a job lead and recommendation. During this interview process, Carrie is denied bathroom privileges while Laura investigates the anomaly that is Young Charles' arrival in the prairieverse. However, knowing his presence could cause destruction, Young Charles calls himself Albert and begins to fabricate his background. While gainful employed, The Ingalls are slowly discovering the drawbacks of their new living situation. And just like dominos, following the arrival of the Ingalls, we get the Garvey's and the Oleson's. It's a Small Town reunion in the Dakota Territory. Laura just got a massive big sister upgrade, how do you think she'll do? What other slang will Laura, Carrie and Andy Garvey pick up while at the Hotel Dakota? With everyone arriving in Winoka following the Ingalls, does that make them trendy? Mary is left in charge as Charles and Caroline head out on a two day trip to Twin Falls. It's not a luxurious suite, fancy train ride or tasty meals, but a trip away from home is still a trip for Caroline. While Laura has to deal with Mary being the authoritative figure at Plum Creek, the surrounding area is having, what they believe to be, are attacks on barn animals by a pack of wolves. When Laura and Andy Garvey, the son of new resident Jonathan Garvey, comer across a trapped "Dog" they rescue it and bring it home. Only to discover what they brought home was a she-wolf and her pups. It doesn't take long before this suppose-to-be-a secret is released into the community. With Harriet Oleson leading the charge or at least sharing the information with Judd Larabee, also a new resident whom happens to haver some history with Jonathan Garvey. Realizing the animals are not safe at his place Andy Takes them to Plum Creek. As little Carrie calls Laure in for Dinner, the pack of animals come down and trap the Ingallas girls, Andy Garvey, two pups, a she-wolf, and Bandit in the barn. Before long the pack finds its way into the barn, moving the group to even higher ground. In a long shot, Bandit, is sent out the window to retrieve Jonathan Garvey and help is delivered. And what is finally reavealed to the residents of Walnut Grove this assumed pack of wolves was actual a pack of wild dogs. Does anyone in Walnut Grove know what a wolf looks like? Will Mary ever want to be left in charge again? Will Charles build a roof of sorts for the chicken coop?

Bside Incoming: Posture This episode comes from yet another incredible artist from down-under. A stalwart of Sydney's underground scene, an avid record collector, and a calming presence for our lockdown lives. The midweek instalment of the Bside Podcast is brought to you by Posture! He's a co-owner of Velodrome recordings, a party series and record label which although in it's infancy shows great promise. Its releases include ‘Zoom Dates' an energetic electro single from the man himself, as well as Unpin's crazy Soy Piccolo EP. His service to Sydney also includes a fortnightly appearance on Nomad Radio and the creation of some of the city's most impressive parties, by placing local talent at the forefront: Andy Garvey, Tiago, Turner Street Sound and many more. It was a pleasure to take a peak into Posture's record collection, to have such a knowledgable selector transport us to his homeland through the unparalleled emotional power of music. A special mention to the barren and beautiful expanses of Australia evoked by Waak Waak Djungi with an ingenious/electronic hybrid. Truly incredible! The whole episode is tinted with a soothing mood offset by a nervous energy that rings throughout, calming yet constantly engaging. The mixtape builds so nicely, that by the time we reach the heavy techno of Illian Tape or Unpin's mad jungle track, it seems almost as relaxing as the opening ambiance of the episode. We look forward to Posture's upcoming EP on Velodrome, but until then, enjoy a tour through the Bside of his incredible record collection. Roy Mills' productions are tripped-out explorations into the outer realms of the dancefloor psyche. Always referencing 90’s UK sounds, Roy neatly weaves sound system experimentalism, post-rave storytelling and movement-focused energy into sunrise-adoring bass music and techno. His DJ sets are both seismically bone-rattling and unpredictable; always twisting, turning and catching the dancer off-guard. He played in Bristol with Cando and Monika Tenaska before the world was put on hold and was due to tour Asia and Europe with his endearing sound. Roy is a regular in the Rinse FM studios and has provided mixes to Chile’s JOIA magazine and Fake Rolex, Bristol’s Noods Radio and Sydney’s number one bass-leaning show, Body Promise. 2019 saw Roy debut a single on Andy Garvey’s Pure Space records. Shortly after, he moved to London from Melbourne where he launched his label Local Knowledge Records with Melbourne stalwarts DJ Mum and Issa, while also releasing his debut LP as a private press CD. Recently, Roy produced two EP’s, an LP, and scored a short film; all due for release later this year. This absorbing mix of contemporary dance music is the perfect start to the new year. @private_planet ==================================================== Upcoming Novel events: Novel x Other People Pres. The 1980's in Hollywood was filled with more high school movies about slackers and smart-alecks than anyone actually needed, especially when it came to featuring students who looked like they were older than the teachers. Summer School was always perhaps the most underrated of the decade’s tributes to academic slackers because what it lacked in the typical star power of, say, a John Hughes film, it more than made up for in creating arguably one of the most creative collection of “teenage” misfits than any film of the genre. At the same time, it showed that Mark Harmon, who was probably best known at the time for his role as the HIV-positive Dr. Robert Caldwell on St. Elsewhere, had a strong sense of comedy, while also confirming (along with her debut on Cheers that same year) that Kirstie Alley was much, much more than just a really attractive Vulcan. On this episode, Tim Williams and guest co-host Laramy Wells, share their memories (from Tim) and first-time reactions (from Laramy) of this 80's Summer comedy classic. Here are additional behind the scenes trivia that we were not able to cover on this episode: Carl Reiner was 65 years old when he directed Summer School, an odd choice for a film about youth. But, that might explain why Summer School is a somewhat more innocent teen film than those of the ‘80s – while some of the ‘80s high school tropes are in the film (like Chainsaw and Dave’s obsession with Anna-Maria’s figure), it’s really kind of a sweet film about the kids who get lost in the system and a gym teacher who realizes he’s the only one who cares about them. If Courtney Thorne-Smith looks just a little irritated when she’s dreamily looking out the window, it’s because she was. While filming Pam's window gazing scene, Dean Cameron got a case of the giggles that spread to Harmon, and then to the rest of the class. Thorne-Smith had to do several takes. Cameron says she was not amused and as soon as Reiner said, "cut!" they all scurried to their trailers to save them from her wrath. As they ran, Reiner could be heard saying to the guys, "You've been naughty boys! Naughty, naughty boys!" The last actor to be cast was Richard Steven Horvitz, who played nerd Alan Eakian. Dean Cameron and Horvitz say the delay was because the character was supposed to be Jewish, originally had the last name Goldbergian and that the script was full of “Jew jokes.” Horvitz says he’s only half-Jewish, so they revised the script including changing his last name to Eakian, which is Armenian. Alan wasn’t the only character to change based on casting. Anna-Maria was originally written to be Danish, rather than Italian. Richard Steven Horvitz says he freaked out the first time he saw Patrick Labyorteaux. Special effects makeup artist Rick Baker was making a mask of his face for the horror scene but could see just a tad out of the eyeholes. When Labyorteaux walked in, Horvitz says he pointed at him (while his face was covered in plaster) and shouted, “Andy Garvey!,” the name of Labyorteaux’ character on the TV series “Little House on the Prairie.” From that point on, Horvitz – who says he was a huge “Little House on the Prairie” fan, said he’d quote lines to him from the show and constantly ask questions about filming it. The two grew to be great friends. Sydney-based DJ and radio host Andy Garvey is a real go-getter. Having been a regular fixture on the Australian airwaves for many years now, hosting shows Spin The Bottle and Future Classics on FBi Radio and Triple J's Mix Up and Friday Mix, her radio skills have also given her a home on Amsterdam's Red Light Radio with her Pure Space show. She's given her new label the same name, which launched at the beginning of this month with a four track V/A including contributions from E Davd, Reptant, Point Guard and Daze. Musically cruising through breakbeat, electro and techno, it's representative of Andy's tastes as a DJ and as a producer — her debut release Eternal Recurrence has just come out on Lobster Theremin. Fresh off the back of her first Boiler Room appearance at Pitch Music and Arts festival, we are hyped to have her at the controls for our Wednesday Alternative mix, a deep dive into her leftfield, experimental tastes... Keep your eye on Andy, she's definitely a name you'll be hearing more of in future.
A dance music authority at Triple J, Andy is the host and programmer of the weekly mix show Mix Up. For our final episode of Agenda we looked back on the past two years of the show and our previous segments, guests and highlights. We were joined by FBi Radio's Music Director Amelia Jenner to chat about what goes into bringing so much diversity into the FBi Radio sound, her thoughts on festival lineups and her work with NECTAR, a booking, touring and events agency she founded along with Andy Garvey, Tia Newling and Jemma Cole. We also heard Larissa Shearman’s Behind The Lens series, which tells the stories of female filmmakers. For episode 2 we met Pauline, a Yaegl woman and a filmmaker with many years in the industry. In this episode, Pauline discussed how her Aboriginality intersects with her filmmaking.

After an absolute stunner set supporting K-Lone and Madam X last month (not to mention another killer close at Nectar last weekend) what better person to bring in the Spring section of this years mix series than @na-ta-li-a. This month, Natalia brings us deep into the realm of d'floor ready, bass (heavy) hitters. Exploring all the sick sub-heavy percussive stuff we love with a cheeky special focus on some exceptional local Sydney artists who are producing legitimately world class tunes right now. If you liked this mix as much as we do, you can get even more every Thursday night on FBi Radio where Natalia showcases Australia’s best local talent. For the rest of this month too, she'll be covering for Andy Garvey’s “Pure Space” so get onto that on Monday nights. Keep up with all her giggage and radio vibin's here: https://www.facebook.com/natalianewling/

This week on the show we had the ever wonderful selector and legend behind FBI's Monday night 'Pure Space' show, Andy Garvey. Effortless mixing, inspired selection and a little too much fun see us pretty quiet on the chit chat this show, but there's vibes a plenty from Andy G, Tom Penny and Cosmo Jones going B3B all show. Diversity is key. Check Andy here; https://soundcloud.com/purespacefm/ https://www.facebook.com/andygarveyandygarvey/

Today on the show it's the first of our Subsonic Music Festival 2016 - Official artist showcases & we've got the one like Andy Garvey in the studio. Andy has been making serious moves in the Sydney underground dance music scene for a while, and shows no signs of letting up. Between presenting on FBi Radio, hosting Pure Space, selecting for ASTRAL PEOPLE & instructing for FBi's dance class, she manages to tear down every party & festival you want to be at. It goes without saying that we're chuffed to have her come through, so be sure to catch her at the festival.
