As we celebrate Mothers Day, we will consider how precious life is.
The Rebbe expresses deep gratitude for a precious gift received from a holy place, as well as a special book. He blesses the recipient with good health and spiritual freedom, connecting these themes to the period between Pesach and Shavuot. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/igroskodesh/015/009/5452
Tom Hines preaches "Precious Gift" from Matthew 13:44-53, in this Sunday evening gathering of Grace Harbor Church.
When it comes to our church buildings, furnaces to be fixed, roofs need to be replaced and parking lots that need to be paved. If we're not careful, the emphasis can move from the Word and Sacraments to paint swatches and carpet colors. But when you strip it all away, what matters is what Luke describes here in this remarkable verse in Acts.
Read Online“Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the Flesh of the Son of Man and drink his Blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my Flesh is true food, and my Blood is true drink.” John 6:53–55Human reason and free will are the most precious natural gifts God gave us. They are what separate us from every other animal. Human reason enables us to think critically, understand concepts, and arrive at conclusions. Central to our human reason is our free will, which enables us to act upon the conclusions we reach or to reject them, choosing instead to follow our disordered appetites and misguided desires. Though human reason was wounded by Original Sin, it was not completely destroyed. We must diligently strive to act rationally and in accord with our common sense, adhering to the natural law that God has written on our souls. However, even though a rational approach to natural law will bring us a long way toward right living, it is not sufficient to lead us into the deeper truths of eternal salvation, promised to us in Jesus' discourse on the Bread of Life, on which we have been reflecting.By natural reason alone, the Eucharist makes no sense. How could that which appears to be a piece of bread be the “Flesh of the Son of Man” and a cup that appears to be wine be His Blood? Yet when we incorporate divine revelation into our reasoning, the Eucharist as the Flesh and Blood of Jesus, the Son of God, makes perfect sense: “...my Flesh is true food, and my Blood is true drink.” The Eucharist makes sense, but only when we listen with faith to the revelation Jesus gave to us. Today's Gospel provides the clearest teaching we have ever received on this Precious Gift.Today's Gospel begins by relating that “The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, ‘How can this man give us his Flesh to eat?'” (John 6:52). They were quarreling because they were not opening their human reason to the light of Jesus' revealed truth. In this exchange, the Eternal and Incarnate Son of God was speaking a divine truth to them. Jesus spoke clearly and plainly, but their minds remained closed. They heard His words, but they closed themselves off to the Father's Voice, which testified on Jesus' behalf that all He said was true. It seems that some who listened began to understand and believe, prompting the quarrel among them. When you read our Lord's words, what do you hear? Do you hear the Father's Voice in the depths of your conscience, confirming the truthfulness of what you read? Do you hear the Living Word of God echoing within your mind and soul? Do you allow that Word to inform your human reason so that you can conclude that the Eucharist is real, that it is the Flesh and Blood of the Son of God, offered to you so that you can share in eternal life? No amount of human study or intelligence alone will ever convince us of divine truths. God alone can convince us, but only if we listen to His Voice.Truths of faith, such as our belief in the Eucharist, must be more certain than any other natural truth we believe. No rational person would deny the reality of the physical world we see with our eyes or touch with our hands. The noises we hear, the food we taste, and the aroma we smell are all judged as real because we believe what our five senses perceive. When our consciences perceive divine truths, those truths are more certain than all sensory knowledge. Why? Because God is the one directly communicating to us. Reflect today on Jesus' crystal-clear teaching on the Eucharist. We must hear and understand what He said. Our faith in the Eucharist must become certain. Allow the Father's Voice to resonate within your mind so that you are more certain that the Eucharist is the Flesh and Blood of the Son of God than anything else you believe. Strengthen your faith, knowing that His Flesh and Blood bring you to eternal life. My Eucharistic Lord, I believe that You gave Your life for the salvation of all and that the gift of eternal salvation is given to us through the Sacraments. I believe that the Eucharist is Your Flesh and Blood, Your Divine Essence. Please strengthen my faith so that I am more open to the abundant grace You wish to bestow through this Precious Gift. The Most Precious Gift – In Context Podcast (Medhurst Ministries)Rachel Williamson speaks with Jas Goodyear about her experience growing up as a pastor's child on a council estate in Brighton, and now raising her own children on an estate in London. Jas reflects on both the challenges and blessings of her journey, sharing why the most precious gift we can give our children is to introduce them to Jesus and to be part of a loving Christian community that loves Jesus, one another, and the lost.Jas and her husband Shane are part of Hope Church Vauxhall and are prayerfully looking to join a church planting team that will serve the council estate where they live.
Parashat Teruma begins with G-d's command, "Ve'yikhu Li Teruma" – that Beneh Yisrael should donate materials toward the construction of the Mishkan. Surprisingly, Hashem here commands that the people donate toward this project with the word "Ve'yikhu," which means "They shall take." Instead of saying that the people should give, that they should donate, Hashem commands them to "take" a donation. This highlights a basic truism about charity – that by giving, we receive. When we give charity, when we donate toward a worthy cause, we receive far more than we give. We lose nothing, and we gain an incalculable amount. The merits earned through charitable donations are worth far more, and are infinitely more secure, than any financial asset. The rewards are both inestimable and guaranteed. But this understanding of the word "Ve'yikhu" actually runs even deeper. The Gemara in Masechet Kiddushin speaks of an exceptional case where a bride can be betrothed by giving, instead of receiving. The Halachic mechanism of Kiddushin, whereby a woman becomes formally betrothed to a man, requires the man to give the woman something of value. Of course, this is commonly done by giving the bride a ring. Normally, Kiddushin cannot be effectuated in the opposite manner, through the bride giving something to the groom. If the bride wishes to give the groom a gift, this must not be done as part of the Huppa ceremony, because it must be perfectly clear that the betrothal takes effect through the groom giving the ring to the bride. However, the Gemara establishes that if the groom is a distinguished person, such as a member of the royal court, then his bride can become betrothed to him through her giving him a gift. The reason, the Gemara explains, is that when an ordinary person gives a gift to a person of distinction, the giver derives great benefit by the recipient's acceptance of the gift. The satisfaction that comes from the distinguished person's consent to receive the gift outweighs the value of the gift. Therefore, if the groom is a man of distinction, the bride can become betrothed through the benefit she receives by the groom's acceptance of her gift, because by giving, the bride is actually receiving. This Halacha sheds new light on the command "Ve'yikhu Li Teruma." When we donate for a Misva purpose, we are, in essence, donating to Hashem, as it were. We are so-to-speak giving something to Hashem. Whether it's assisting a family in need, contributing to a charity fund, or supporting a synagogue of yeshiva, we are giving a gift to Hashem – who is, quite obviously, far more "distinguished" than any dignitary or prominent figure. And in this sense, we receive when we give. Anytime we have the opportunity to donate, we are given the privilege of giving a gift to Hashem. This is a privilege we should celebrate – and an opportunity that we should eagerly and enthusiastically seize as often as we can.

Holy Fire or Strange Fire? When Judgment Begins at the House of God | KIB 507 Kingdom Intelligence Briefing Description Is the fire in today's churches from the Holy Spirit—or from Babylon? In this sobering episode of Kingdom Intelligence Briefing, Dr. Michael and Mary Lou Lake examine holy fire vs. strange fire, why judgment must begin at the house of God, and how the remnant can walk safely through coming judgments with their "censers" filled only with the fire of Heaven. They discuss the persecution of believers in Nigeria, the subtle rise of entertainment-based Christianity, the danger of unholy manifestations in church, and the growing crisis of child trafficking as the true currency of Babylon. This is a call for deep repentance, discernment, and a return to God's ways so that the remnant can stand as God's special forces in the last days. If you long for holiness, discernment, and the true fear of the Lord, this episode will both challenge and encourage you to examine the fire in your own life.

Behold His precious Gift transfixed to it! (Octavius Winslow, "Morning Thoughts") "He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?" Romans 8:32 Look at the cross! Behold His precious Gift transfixed to it, and that by His own hand, and for your sins. Then look at your present circumstances, survey . . . your needs, your trials, your chastisements, your bereavements, your heart sickening, heartbreaking tribulations, and know that God still is love. If He had love strong enough, deep enough, to give you Jesus; to tear Him, as it were, from His bosom, and to transfix Him on yonder accursed tree for your iniquities; then has He not love enough to bow His ear to your cry, and His heart to your sorrow? Will He not . . . rescue you from this difficulty, deliver you out of this trouble, shield you in this temptation, supply this need, support and comfort you in this grief? Oh yes, He will! doubt it not! The cross of Calvary is a standing pledge; standing until sin and guilt, need and woe, shall be known no more; that God, who "spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, will with Him also freely give us all things" necessary to our good, and promotive of His glory.

"A Message to the Betrayer: If You've Been Given Another Chance, Honor It" In today's powerful episode, Dr. Debi speaks directly to the betrayer — the one who caused the hurt — offering a clear and compassionate roadmap for how to truly rebuild trust after betrayal. Here's what you'll learn: Why Curiosity Beats Defensiveness: Instead of reacting defensively, betrayers must get curious. How could you have said or done things differently? How can you communicate feelings without causing further harm? The Precious Gift of a Second Chance: When a betrayed partner is willing to cautiously hand their trust back to you, it's the most precious gift you could receive. If you have no intention of honoring it, Dr. Debi strongly urges you to let them go — they deserve healing, not more trauma. The Non-Negotiable Rule for Living and Healing: Dr. Debi shares her simple but life-changing rule: If it hurts another living being—don't do it. Period. How to Handle Shame While Supporting Your Partner: Shame must be dealt with—but not at the expense of the betrayed's healing process. Timing is everything. The Right Way to Rebuild Safety and Trust: Proactively show that you see what you never saw before. Bring up the hard conversations—not just when it's convenient for you, but when the betrayed needs it. Consistently demonstrate that you are willing to do the hard work. What Betrayal Actually Does to a Person: Dr. Debi vividly describes the profound emotional, psychological, and even physical shattering that betrayal causes. Rebuilding takes seriousness, consistency, and deep respect. A Powerful Visualization Exercise: If you struggle to see the depth of the pain you've caused, imagine your own beloved child being betrayed. What would you want for them? What would you demand from the one who hurt them? Now act accordingly. For the Betrayed: A final, heartfelt reminder: "Even though it happened to you, it's not about you." Betrayers often act out of their own unhealed wounds. Their choices do not define your worth. Key Takeaways: ✅ Healing is possible—but only with total honesty and commitment. ✅ If you have no intention to honor your second chance, the kindest thing you can do is walk away. ✅ Betrayal affects not just the partner but the entire family, including children—handle it with the gravity it deserves. ✅ Rebuilding after betrayal is hard work, but it leads to transformation you never thought possible. You're not alone, and you're not beyond redemption—but you have to do the work.

Welcome to Backstage Pass Season 2! We're premiering our second season with a special double release that features our conversation with Tony and Pulitzer Prize Winner Michael R Jackson (A Strange Loop) and Anna K. Jacobs (POP!) about their musical Teeth. Check out Episode 2 for the second part of our conversation. "Teeth" is a musical that follows Dawn O'Keefe, a charismatic leader of a Christian youth group called the Promise Keeper Girls, who grapples with her own sexual desires while suppressing them due to her strict religious upbringing; when violated, she discovers a shocking secret power where her body physically fights back against sexual assault, essentially giving her "teeth" against her attackers; the show explores themes of religious oppression, female sexuality, and bodily autonomy, based on the cult film of the same name, with music by Anna K. Jacobs and lyrics by Michael R. Jackson. This episode features the songs “Precious Gift” performed by Alyse Alan Louis and the Promise Keeper Girls, “Modest is Hottest” performed by Jason Gotay and Alyse Alan Louis, and “Shame in My Body” performed by Alyse Alan Louis. What is the best gift that we can give? As Sadhguru reminds us, we have entered the world with nothing but ourselves to offer. Instead of focusing on gifts from our pockets, we can share the very life within ourselves and learn to receive gracefully.
