Described as a ‘tender portrayal of experiencing dementia in lockdown’ Watching Rosie is an online play starring Miriam Margolyes. Portraying grandmother Alice, and Louise Coulthard, her granddaughter Rosie, Miriam joins Jenni to discuss the bond between the two as they face change and confusion. Sinead Hynes is a tough, driven, funny young property developer with terrifying secret. No one knows it; not her fellow patients in hospital, and certainly not her family. She’s only confided in a shiny magpie and Google! Poet Elaine Feeney talks to Jenni about her debut novel As You Were – all about the secrets we hold, the burdens we carry and why we all need people to lean on. The Care Quality Commission have described the maternity care at Basildon University Hospital as ‘inadequate’, after a whistleblower shared concerns for patient safety. Jenni is joined by BBC Look East’s Suzie Fowler-Watt, who has been following the story, and Lauren, who has had maternity care at the hospital and is part of a support group for women who’ve lost babies at the hospital. Chef and restaurateur Ravinder Bhogal's new book Jikoni celebrates immigrant food and its ability to adapt. Her recipes span flavours and culinary traditions from India, Kenya, Asia and Britain. She tells the stories of women who are marginalised and whose stories have been erased - stories she refers to as feminist gospels. She talks to Jenni about how to Cook the Perfect Coffee Rasgullas with Mascarpone Ice Cream and Espresso Caramel. Producer: Louise Corley Editor: Karen Dalziel
Look, my ability to establish and maintain a reliable podcasting schedule has degraded, to say the least, as this process has gone on. I know it. YOU know it. I’m sorry. But this past year of March and April has seriously thrown me off my groove, and not in the fun Disney way with llama faces and maniacal kitten laughter. It’s difficult I think for any of us to bring the fun in at the moment. But I will persevere! WE will persevere! We will get through this thing called Season Six if it’s the last thing we do. (Which it won’t be, because the threat of Season Seven looms menacingly in our future.) Anyways, Jessica Hautsch is back with me again to share in the joy of James Marsters’ eyebrow acting in 614, “Older and Far Away.” She is also positively GIDDY that 615, “As You Were” is the very last time she’ll ever have to deal with Riley Finn. And how weird is it that Xander’s family cheers for him straight-up murdering a “circus folk” at his almost-but-not-quite wedding? Next (Week? Month? Year?): Elizabeth Rambo returns to take on the uber-divisive episode 617, “Normal Again” and the 0h-yeah-that-was-an-episode 618, “Entropy.” THE BREAKDOWN Run Time: 01:53:25 00:00:55 - Intro / Guest 00:09:37 - Main Topic 01:50:00 - Outro / Next THE LIBRARY Library Closed For Filing - Please Come Back Tomorrow THE MUSIC “Conversations (feat. For my 50th birthday (ugh), my gift to you is the 50th episode (egads) of this podcast, which will focus on the 50th worst episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. (I made that last part up...it’s probably higher on most “Worst Of” lists. It’s a meat process.) Joining me this time is my good friend and frequent collaborator, first-time guest Eric Sipple. Together we share the DoubleMeat Medley that is the forgettable patty of 611, “Gone” above the mid-bun, and the processed trauma of 613, “Dead Things” below the mid-bun. But it’s really that bland, stale mid-bun of 612, “Doublemeat Palace” that gives us indigestion. Am I straining the metaphor here? Well, it IS Season Six, so when in Rome... After facing criticism from listeners for talking about Oasis too much, here’s an episode of nothing but Liam Gallagher (and a little bit of Noel Gallagher). If you don’t like Oasis, don’t worry, neither does Matt. So that balances the fanboying from Dan and Other Dan. We don’t just talk about As You Were, we also spend about five minutes talking about a nice coat. Something for everyone, really.

Favorite Captain Janeway / Seven of Nine Moments. Kate Mulgrew and Jeri Ryan shared a lot of of screen time as Captain Janeway and Seven of Nine in seasons 4 through 7 of Star Trek: Voyager. Most of these moments, however, seem to fall into one of three categories: (1) Seven of Nine learns something about humanity from Captain Janeway, (2) Captain Janeway and Seven share a heartfelt bonding moment, and (3) Seven of Nine gets under Captain Janeway's skin. In this episode of To The Journey, hosts Kay Shaw, Zachary Fruhling, and Suzanne Williamson share their favorite Captain Janeway / Seven of Nine moments in Star Trek: Voyager. Big Damn Heroes has hit episode 46, and see this asshole? He should be dead, for all the incredibly stupid shit he does in this episode.
