The Matrix: Resurrections pulls the ReWatchable panel back into the fold for one last ride with the original crew. Although everything seems slightly the same, this meta retelling of the series offers something new for everyone. Leaning into the film took a bit of effort at the start, but the film still laid the groundwork for another discussion of the larger themes of the piece from Lana Wachowski. Join us as we ask the big questions, such as: Did this movie need to be made? Did we enjoy it? Did Keanu make another joke?! Fun Facts Natalie's hair cannot get short enough, Karen has a car (and a lot of additional responsibility), and Kendra literally entered the Mirrorverse with Spider-Man. As a reminder: we are no longer found on Hypable – we are now on Subjectify Media! Read all about it in our relaunch article: Reintroducing ReWatchable: And our next round is… – Subjectify Media Overall impressions Did this movie need to be made? Kendra's Kontemplations from the movie theater seat Keanu's did not make a joke (Brittany determines this while writing the show notes) Let's discuss the motive behind making this movie Did this movie serve every audience member? Yes, update those CGI graphics!! There is a new The One, what do we think of our lead? Everyone finally has a sensible Matrix outfit Neo is removed from the Matrix and it takes a bit for us to get into the film and sort out what exactly is going on Meta seems like a bad descriptor (thanks, Zuckerberg), but we did enjoy bits of the meta of it all Sense8 is all over the place, stay tuned for us to point them out Welcome Jonathan Groff (we love you so much) What did we think of the changes in Agent Smith here? We don't know the whole story about bringing back Morpheus 1.0, but we like Morpheus 2.0  The Choice is there, but is it really?  Tweaking the code got rid of some of the elements that were bothersome from the original trilogy Following the White Rabbit Going from a phone call to Zoom – an excellent description of the Matrix upgrade Ladies and gentleman, Neo Unplugged Meet a new generation of characters We're going back to Io “You never appreciated our relationship” The biggest question: Is this a love story? At the heart of the story is Trinity, is that a good thing? Would you prefer to be in the pod? (Not this pod because the answer is obviously, yes) Unlike this episode, the movie has some after credits scenes This episode's panel included all superfans: Karen Rought, Kendra Cleary, Natalie Fisher, and one panelist who saw it but didn't show up: Brittany Lovely. Happy Holidays from ReWatchable! Our hosts have once again come together to celebrate with another holiday special. This time we watch the legendary Sandra Bullock try to untangle herself from the she-said, she-said lie of While You Were Sleeping. Despite the fact that the plot that could have easily been resolved very quickly with no fallout several times throughout this movie, we find ourselves tangled up in enough of the delightful antics to discuss whether Bill Pullman holds his own against Sandy, debate whose lie is worse (Lucy Moderatz or Joe Fox), and whether we appreciate public demonstrations of love or not.  Before we get into the episode notes, if you are a ReWatchable fan from way back, we have some exciting Subjectify content for you! Natalie Fisher spoke with our dear friend Giles, Anthony Head, about his new project The Canterville Ghost and more! Read Part One and Part Two of our Anthony Head interview here! Fun Facts: Favorite Christmas Episodes Ariana: Downton Abbey season 2 Christmas Special, runner up The Mindy Project Christmas Party Sex Trap Brittany: A Muppet Family Christmas (1987) Cass: The X-Files “How the Ghosts Stole Christmas” Natalie: Ted Lasso “Carol of the Bells” While You Were Sleeping It is frightening how easily this movie could be recast as a thriller Lucy is all alone in this world, but does Sandra Bullock pull it off? Is she giving off millennial vibes before they really existed? What was the audience reception of this movie vs how we see it? Let's unpack the trope of perpetuating the lie by just not correcting the narrative to the truth This could be easily resolved! Thank goodness for Jack who is here to poke holes in her story. But why is he doing it? It's a family affair! Godfather Saul, why are you encouraging this? If we were Saul what would we do? Bill Pullman, our leading man, shows up a third of the way in the movie What do we think of Pullman as a leading man? (Brittany vouches for the hot dad in Casper) Let's rank the best people to play opposite Sandra Bullock Moving on from one brother, let's talk about sleepy Peter Conscious Peter is…. Well… awake The wedding happens and she leaves, that's it, that's the scene Actually, wait, this scene is actually ridiculous and we need to talk about it. HE HAS AN IV IN HIS ARM Jack proposes because why not? Were there any behind the scenes conversations about this between the family members? Probably not, Saul handled it. Public proposals - huge no Narration book ends this film - love it or hate it? Side characters - Joe Jr, Jerry, and the orderly Rick Worthy While You Were Sleeping vs Practical Magic - rate the Bullock performance! In terms of cinematography, this is a very grey movie While You Were Sleeping vs You've Got Mail - rate the lie! The stakes of Lucy's lie are so much larger, but easier to get out of it Favorite scenes Favorite lines This week's superfans are: Brittany Lovely, Cass Cooper, and Ariana Quiñónez. The ReWatchable crew enters the Matrix one more time to finish out the original trilogy with a discussion covering whether or not this is a love story, determining who is entitled to eat the cookies, and consider where the next movie may take audiences. This Matrix Revolutions panel is a modge-podge one superfan and several sort of newbies who tackle the biggest questions the series has to offer humanity, including: is this movie the only time Keanu Reeves has made a joke? Join us as we navigate one last trip into the Matrix as we know it and prepare for what The Matrix: Resurrections has to offer! Fun Facts As a reminder: we are no longer found on Hypable – we are now on Subjectify Media! Read all about it in our relaunch article: Reintroducing ReWatchable: And our next round is… – Subjectify Media Spotify Wrapped is here (much to Natalie's dismay) and not everyone on the panel listened to Taylor Swift! The Matrix Revolutions The movie dives right into the thick of it but not action-wise, the characters take center stage Volume was a major issue for home viewing, perhaps due to its IMAX release With the balance of jumping between character moments, did we lose a lot of Neo in this film after sticking very close to him in the past 2 films? Which direction is the train going? And are the passengers running toward reality or away from it? The machines aren't who we thought they were A moment to acknowledge how great Keanu looks at this moment — and in the PRESENT The Oracle is replaced due to a real life death, however the plot gives a lot to chew on with a vessel changing as a result of a choice made in the Matrix Imagine being programmed to live with a guy who eats half an olive at a time? Is there a lack of emotional investment (or none at all?) for Trinity? But was this intentional? Smith, who are you? Why are you here? What is your purpose?! The cookies are done, but who does the Oracle actually think that they are for? Smith turns out to be quite the three-dimensional character despite Brittany's best attempts to ignore his existence We are in Zion/the real world for a majority of the movie with the crews of the ships and on the battlefield defending Zion The side characters give us hope The Kid is actually a bigger deal than just being the President of Neo's fan club Another battle/fight scene makes us care a bit more when it cuts between people rather than focusing on one character at a time The casting of Bane was *chef's kiss* “Neo dust” Neo is blinded-but he cannot escape Smith's sunglasses-and he kills Bane Does Keanu make his only joke… ever… in this movie? Trinity and Neo's deaths - what was the emotional and logical reactions to each of these? Happily ever after, or not, there's always the 4th movie Neo master negotiator with the machines Iconic RAIN BATTLE Based on canon alone the machines taking Neo is a giant question mark (but there are possibly some answers in the video game) Natalie adds some must-sees to her Sydney tour and it is an eel wall (no thank you) What is the one thing that would keep you living in the Matrix? Or Zion? There are some disturbing procreation discussion What the hell is going to happen in The Matrix: Resurrections?      Gather round the table, it's a ReWatchable Thanksgiving Special! The next film on our 2021 movie slate loosely touches on Thanksgiving, but gives us the best Autumn in New York vibes. Join us as we talk though the cyber-union of of everyone's favorite rom com leads Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks in the Nora Ephron classic You've Got Mail. It's impossible to find a newbie for this one, so our panel of five hosts talk about the power of online relationships, if this movie would work today (or with anyone other than Tom Hanks) and which locations look best on screen.  Fun Facts: Favorite Thanksgiving Episodes Ariana: Smallville 10.07 “Ambush” Brittany: Will & Grace 3.08/3.09 “Lows in the Mid-Eighties (Part I and II)" Cass: Bob's Burgers 4.05 “Turkey in a Can” Danielle: Gossip Girl 1.09 “Blair Waldorf Must Pie” Natalie: New Girl 1.06 “Thanksgiving” and Buffy 4.08 “Pangs” We've got early 00s sitcoms, late series holiday reunions, a series that celebrates the holiday annually on air, some not so shiny interactions, and some friends rounding out the found family celebrations. A long tangled adaptation tree stems from the 1937 Hungarian play Parfumerie Nora Ephron the Queen of rom coms with hits such as When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle What was going on with the ads in the 90s in Australia? What sets a great rom com apart from other movies? Humor is at the top but a close second is actually believing in the romance We somehow got to the Eternals romance and anyway read Natalie's review of the film here Hallmark movies are not romcoms, but they do end in the way some stories should - they end We navigate our way from the Regency era to the Internet era Internet relationships have a very different starting point than in-person relationships and it's...freeing We trace the evolution of change in internet relationships from chat rooms, to anonymous relationships via email, to cell phones You've Got Mail is the first (and maybe only) film to unpack these relationships well Is there cheating in this movie?  We love a healthy breakup! What would the tags for this be on AO3? An enemy to lovers plot requires so much more than hate The Miike Snow music video for Genghis Khan is relevant, trust Cass What makes Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks so special and perfect for these roles? We don't think You've Got Mail would have worked with anyone else, especially given the fact that Joe was “in the know” for most of the movie Who could be our leads today? (Besides Daniel Radcliffe who we talk about in depth in an episode of Not About the Weather) There is also another running current in this movie about familial legacy  We could have used more depth with the depths of what Joe's relationship with money The shop fails and it's another plot device that may help Kathleen if it was developed more Further, insights to Kathleen's thoughts on Joe would have been appreciated The third major player in this film is New York City, what are some other films that nail the sense of place? ReWatchable's journey into the Wachowskis' Matrix trilogy continues with The Matrix Reloaded. Our hosts unpack a highly philosophical sequel that leans heavily on action sequences, sex, and monologues providing very few breadcrumbs for our hero Neo to follow on his journey. Fun Facts As a reminder: we are no longer found on Hypable – we are now on Subjectify Media! Will this make Brittany watch Ted Lasso? Stay tuned. The Matrix Reloaded Was the Matrix always intended to be a trilogy? Would one Matrix movie have been enough?  This isn't the sequel we're looking for, but it's the one we have Six degrees of How I Met Your Mother How much action is too much action? Pick your first action in the Matrix and your outfit! Zion is not a flashback to serve as Morpheus' backstory, but rather a real, very big place for humanity! Morpheus is not loved by Lock, but he is a headliner of Zion Coachella  We get a slice of life: Morpheus' influence, Neo's reception, Link's tie to the mission, and also Gina Torres is there However, it quickly dissolved into 36 hours of leave sex and a giant rave Can we trust the old White guy? Apparently we can! Neo can't seem to grasp the bigger picture here The spoon didn't do much for us here Seraph has a nice short scene that has a purpose and progresses the plot! The Oracle gives us a lot of insight in a very short amount of time and there are a lot of rebel programs that are existing in the major network Persephone we have your back 100% if you just want to stab Merovingian. Time to play a round of: Do you really have autonomy or not? The fight scene that lasted 1000 years At least the Keymaker is adorable and gets to have a heist scene moment We meet the Architect who seems a bit annoyed that Neo actually has a choice in this programming and that he has to wait to let it play out What exactly happens to Trinity? It's a ReWatchable Halloween Special! Continuing our run of 2021 movie episodes, we are here to bring you our thoughts about the 1998 fan-favorite spooky rom-com, Practical Magic. Starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, this weird and witchy tale tells the story of the Owens sisters, who are as blessed with magic as they are cursed to lose the men they fall in love with. Five ReWatchable hosts have gathered on Halloween to tell a tale of love, loss, raising the dead, and of course, magic. Fun Facts In case you missed it, we are on Subjectify Media now. Episode 37 of Not About The Weather has a great explanation of what exactly happened and why we've got a new website. Our fun facts are themed: what's your favorite Halloween TV special? The winners include Buffy, Supernatural, Stranger Things, How I Met Your Mother, and Boy Meets World. Practical Magic Interestingly, all our Americans are newbies today, and our superfans are the international hosts. Kendra had not heard of this movie til two weeks ago. Karen was expecting scarier - like The Craft! Danielle had seen a famous scene on Tiktok which both set the scene and did not prepare her at all. Natalie saw this movie in the cinema in the 90s. Is this a feminist movie? Kind of. It's very women supporting women, but also weirdly women versus women. Starting with the whole Maria Owens situation. Pro tip: don't curse your own family line, it goes against the biological imperative. So much happens in the first 20 minutes. Some hosts expected the set up of the first 20 minutes to be the whole movie. But no. The aunts casting a love spell on Sally might be well meaning but it's creepy as hell. Natalie's theory is that they are breeding her to keep the family line going. Gross. The Faith Hill “This Kiss” scene is a pretty huge pop culture moment. Everyone in this movie has a lot of hair and it is wonderful. Should Gilly, the romantic, have gotten the chance at true love? Was Jimmy a vampire. No. Well, maybe. Well, no. But. Maybe? The newbies did not expect the sisters to be murderers. Let alone double murderers. Was the whipped cream disgusting or inspired?  If you don't make your own necromancy ingredients, store bought is fine! Gary the Cop shows up chasing Jimmy down for Jimmy's crimes, so he doesn't seem to be concerned about harm befalling Jimmy. But he does have to uphold the law, and these women are not good at covering up crimes. Did Sally, like, make Gary with her spell? Is the Owens curse objectively real? Is it naive to just not believe in it? If you claim that it's down to belief only, then Sally killed her husband by believing in it. Karen wasn't expecting to be thinking about the theoretical workings of magic this hard for this movie. It's called Practical Magic! You didn't think we may discuss the practicality of magic? Are soul bonds ethical? What about free will? Natalie has read a Supernatural AU of Practical Magic featuring Dean and Sam as the witches and Cas as the cop. But seriously, Sally's spell. Is it Google Maps or The Sims? (Just go with it.) Natalie delivers some tea about soulmate compatibility. Depressing or inspiring? You decide. Karen is very upset. Just when you thought this movie was over, it is not over! The climax depends on reaching out to all the women who hated them and drawing back the fear curtain. This movie fits into every category. Horror? Romcom? Family drama? Sure. This movie is quite famously full of queer themes, even though it isn't about lesbians. There's some chat about why fictional incest is a trope here too. (Just go with it.) We look at why media is incapable of showing intimacy between people without coding it the same way romantic intimacy is coded. A real witch put a curse on this movie. It's an extreme cult classic in so many ways!  Favorite scenes. Favorite lines. This episode's superfans are: Maj Elisabeth and Natalie Fisher. This episode's newbies are: Kendra Cleary, Karen Rought, and Danielle Zimmerman. ReWatchable is back in action with a series of specials for the remainder of 2021. In honor of our Sense8 round, we'll be covering the Wachowskis' Matrix trilogy in advance of the 4th instalment this December. Today we bring you a ReWatchable deep dive into the original, iconic, philosophical and plain legendary 1999 classic that is The Matrix. Looking back at The Matrix after 20 years, how does it hold up? Join us as we follow baby Keanu Reeves out of the simulation and discover just how deep the rabbit hole goes.  Fun Facts We are no longer found on Hypable - we are now on Subjectify Media! Read all about it in our relaunch article: Reintroducing ReWatchable: And our next round is... - Subjectify Media Karen is making her grand return to ReWatchable after 2 years away and the move couldn't be more fitting! Natalie informs the group that Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) from Ted Lasso can perform the Muppet Christmas Carol in approximately 6 minutes. Watch it now, if not for the Ted or the Muppets, then for the dedication. Kendra watched the entire Matrix trilogy for the first time in the past few months to celebrate her anniversary, however her partner cannot watch a movie or read a book without spoiling it. But Kendra's real fun fact is that she is about to embark on a Halloween cookbook review spree for Subjectify so stay tuned if you want some spooky treats (and of course she is going all out to have her friends sample her cooking!) With the closing of Hypable, Brittany uncovered some deeply locked away memories from her time covering a few shows that should never be named. The Matrix Superfans: how many times have you seen this movie? What has stuck with you? What has changed? Newbies: In thinking about the movie as a pop culture classic, what were you aware of going in? The world building is very intricately designed thanks to the work put in off screen. Trinity opens the series to establish the premise that there is another layer to this environment where an us versus them battle is happening outside the parameters of the world we know. Do the special effects hold up today? A lot of effects were either invented or honed specifically for this movie. It truly changed the game for Hollywood, we had not seen ANYTHING like this in Western cinema. More reading: (link) (link - slight spoilers for Reloaded) Practical effects helped the movie's action feel real. The Wachowskis drew from Hong Kong action movies with lots of martial arts and they hired fight choreographers from those movies to get it, so there's lots of wire work and practical stuff. The lobby shootout is ALL practical VFX except painting out the wires that let them do the stunts. “There is the world that people think is real and the reality beneath that” -- the Wachowskis speak to gender transition throughout the film. The Matrix, according to them, has always been a trans allegory. More reading: (link) (link) (link) (thread) (thread) The imagery of meeting Neo for the first time when he is detached from reality (sleeping) is quite fitting. Let's discuss Neo's character development, specifically: is it good? Does the Matrix affect this? Are we meant to interpret him through that lens? If you ever visit Natalie she can take you on a Matrix tour of Sydney. Is there a better Chosen One story where the appointed one has a choice? Is there even another one that offers a choice? The first moment that the rules of reality do not apply and we get a glimpse of Neo figuring something out about the world he's in is when he asks for his phone call. Neo is apparently not put off by the whole bug removal thing and decides to follow Trinity to Morpheus. Would you take the red pill or the blue pill? Also, fuck right-wing co-opting of this reference. Did everyone see Lilly Wachowski dunking on Ivanka Trump over this? Morpheus and the crew of the Nebuchadnezzar save the flushed dead goldfish Neo from the AI overlords, we witness a (sometimes gross) rebirth. Let's go through the ship and meet our friends (and one enemy)! Tank is the MVP of the secondary character crew, but in true Brittany fashion, she likes Cypher. Trinity gets her moment in the spotlight thanks to Karen. [pause for white room orientation and kung fu training montage] Cypher's intentions are sympathetic though executed poorly. The Oracle scene and the Chosen One narrative the Matrix uses needs plenty of unpacking - this is really the crux of the movie. These are not your standard action movie deaths. The psychology of this movie hits hard. The conversation between Morpheus and Smith had a twist that changed the motivations for the final moments of the movie. And now we finally get to it! The action! Neo is The One! And now his story really begins Favorite Scenes Favorite Lines Brittany's Brainstorms: She may or may not have seen this movie! Ariana discusses the Downton Abbey season 2 Christmas Special (no not that one, the other one at the end). Natalie talks about Johnny’s great moment in the spotlight in the Schitt’s Creek Christmas special. Brittany turns to another wholesome family for the holidays with Bob’s Burgers season 10, episode 10. Kendra takes on a lesser watched, but thematically relevant flick with The Night Before. And Danielle talks about sexy ghosts in The Spirit of Christmas. A Muppet Christmas Carol movie discussion – Superfans: How many times have you seen this movie? – Newbies: Initial thoughts? First reactions? – The Muppets are front and center for a telling of a classic, does the story hit differently with puppets and music? – Is Scrooge a villain? – How does having a real person playing opposite all puppets feel? – So much Muppet trivia – The Dickens commentary hits differently in 2020 – Seriously, the 12-minute documentary (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvYg0OO5Qy4) is worth your time – Muppets may be the best, but we can’t help that other versions of the story fill in the blanks for Scrooge’s history – The Ghost of Christmas Past is scary and creepy, but the story there isn’t – GOOD FOR YOU BELLE – Kermit, the everyman – Miss Piggy had to hide her extraordinary talents – Are there more expectations we had for The Muppets? Anyone get shut out? – The lost song (https://youtu.be/tfI_N0vyxaI) (it’s coming back (https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-55232499#:~:text=A%20lost%20song%20cut%20from,forthcoming%20versions%20of%20his%20film) ) -Stay tuned after the credits – Favorite scenes – Favorite lines Make sure to join the ReWatchable ReWinders group on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ReWatchablePodcast/) and chat with us about all sorts of fun ReWatchable-related things! The ReWatchable team comes together for a movie viewing of A League of Their Own and they get emotional over women in baseball once more! Hosts: Danielle, Ariana, Kendra, Natalie, and Brittany Fun Facts: Kendra is putting together a fandom wall in her living room: items include Hogwarts, The Witcher, Baby Yoda, and Lost. Brittany had a baseball heavy day with watching some live sports and then reading about all of the rules that will be in play for the upcoming MLB season. Natalie is now a single issue person: we only talk about The Old Guard. But it has given her a window into single movies that inspire a fandom springing up around it. Ariana has watched two perfect things — The Baby-Sitters Club and Palm Springs. For more feel-good TV, Danielle has watched Baby Daddy, Young and Hungry, and Warrior Nun. A League of Their Own movie discussion – Superfans: How many times have you seen this movie? – Newbies: Initial thoughts? First reactions? – We need an “Is Tom Hanks Okay?” website for Kendra – All-American Girls Baseball League was real! It lasted for about a decade while men were overseas and coming back – The women were in fact obligated to attend charm school, wear lipstick at all times, and yes, those uniforms are true to history – One thing that didn’t make it into the movie was the lesbian relationships that came out of the league – There is a great focus on the many facets of being a woman in the 50s – Let’s take a look at that propaganda – Oh, and Evelyn needs to bring her child on the road because her husband doesn’t have a job and he bothers him… relevant today, no? – What elements made it evident that this was directed by a woman? – This is a story about women supporting women and siblings – What do we think about Dottie’s motives in this movie? – We talk about a deleted scene out of context for a bit, sorry about that, here is the clip (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q_HyTifpGQ) ! – Little sister and big sister perspectives – Spelling practice is sometimes just too much – Ok, but did someone intentionally drop the ball on this play? – We get more pitcher drama, Kit being pulled from the game has strong Ginny vibes – If Dottie did drop the ball, what does that say for the rest of the team? And her attitude in general for the rest of the team? – Can we imagine a world where Dottie can have both lives she wants? – Sorry we explain this scene so late! – Did it change the way the movie played out as a whole? – Who was your favorite Rockford Peach? – Know her: Mamie “Peanut” Johnson – The dubbed voices were wild at the end – How did the framing of the story work as told through flashbacks? – The credits music was… A Choice And now some quarantine news from Pitch: – What does it mean (https://twitter.com/hulu/status/1277709740475383808) ? And the next show is… –ReWatchable will cover Crashing! Not the HBO series, but the six-episode comedy from Phoebe Waller-Bridge! The ReWatchable hosts return for the Pitch series wrap up episode discussing what might have been if the series went on, and the season as a whole. Superfans: Danielle and Ariana Newbies: Kendra, Natalie, and Brittany Fun Facts: Kendra went on her first overnight hike last week and her dog took on her guard dog persona and got super excited about seeing a beaver! And now the hosts are all afraid of beavers. Brittany watch Staged and absolutely delightful experience. Natalie is finally podcasting in her library (for the benefit of her neighbors) and is officially giving it a test run as it is meant to be her official podcasting spacing going forward. Ariana’s cat is being insane and kept her up all night. Throwing a all-nighter in this environment? Come on. Danielle has been watching a lot of Baby Daddy thanks to Ariana’s suggestion sprinkling in some Young and Hungry and Sense8. (Which we recapped, listen here: Sense8 1×01 Discussion (https://www.hypable.com/podcast/rewatchable-episode-271-sense8-1x01/) ) Pitch series wrap up discussion – High points of the series – What has stuck with us the most about the series? – Are there series about sports outside of this that are not set in high school? – What other sports lend themselves to series? – We do have some suggestions here, but they aren’t the same: Check out these shows featuring competitive sports (https://www.hypable.com/shows-like-cheer-netflix-amazon/) – The access that Pitch had to the MLB was a unique outlying factor and something that other series might not be able to acquire – Ginny’s emotional journey was another highlight of the series – Mike Lawson arc needed some more room, but they did a great job setting him up and teasing out his path – We love a good will they/won’t they – Oscar is a saint and needs more screen time – The opening segment is one of the best parts of the series, but some runner ups include the red dress, the photo shoot, the almost kiss, hiring Livan, and so many other small moments – The flashbacks were not a hinderance! What a concept! – Ginny bonding with her teammates allowed for the supporting characters to have some time in the spotlight – Low points of the series (besides the cancellation!) – Some underlying threads lost their luster episode to episode – We do kind of wish Amelia was a bit better at her job… – Mini fridges are still stupid – What were we missing? What did we want to see in the Pitch future? – Some moments: Blip and Mike’s continued fallout, Blip and Evelyn flashbacks, Ginny on disability, and Ginny’s future in the league, Ginny and Livan’s partnership (on the field? off the field?), Oscar and Al flashbacks!! – Ginny’s family and history needed some more exploration as well – How would the show play in the contemporary landscape? – What is the optimal run for the series? – Would we watch it again? – We should all remember Mo’ne Davis, the inspiration for the series! – Everyone should read Ariana’s coverage of the Pitch PaleyFest panel (https://www.hypable.com/pitch-at-palefest/) ! We have a backlog of feedback to get through: – Some thoughts on Ginny’s plot line in the final stretch of episodes – The power dynamic between Ginny and Mike is a bit… cringe? The ReWatchable hosts take the mound one last time to discuss the series finale, Pitch season 1, episode 10, “Don’t Say It.” Superfans: Danielle and Ariana Newbies: Kendra and Natalie Fun Facts: Kendra went slacklining! She is very, very cool. Natalie completed her front garden, and is making the world better a little piece at a time. Ariana made a Chrissy Teigen crepe (it was quite ugly, but very delicious), and Danielle took a social distancing drive down a generally busy but now eerily quiet downtown Chicago. Pitch season 1, episode 10, “Don’t Say It” – Mike is back in the clubhouse! He doesn’t exactly get the warmest of welcomes, but Sonny did try and do his part to get the slow clap going. – Bachelor Mike has to confess to Blip that Chicago did not accept his rose, but Blip is going through his own problems right now and is not here for Mike’s mess. – Mike and Ginny decide they don’t need to talk about last night, so they don’t, but the SUBTEXT is screaming that they have some *ehem* unresolved stuff to work through. – Sometimes it’s nice when people play the guitar, but sometimes it’s cringey— like when a billionaire mogul performs in a coffee shop… – Mike’s ex-wife knows what she is doing and frankly it’s not cute. – Al tells Mike he doesn’t want The New Girl deep down, he wants the girl that’s always been there, but Mike is dumb and doesn’t realize this is just a metaphor. – Evelyn wants more out of life and we support her in spirit but still think a restaurant isn’t the greatest idea in this economy. – Blip is tired of being everyone’s backup guy, and he is VERY tired of Mike being a sulky baby. – Screwgies is a terrible idea but from a production standpoint it would at least give us a standing set. – Ginny is really nice to her stealing brother, and really mean to Amelia (who maybe had it coming, but not like this!) – Ginny is the center of Amelia’s world, which is deeply sad because it’s not reciprocated. – We have some VERY strong feeling about whether or not Ginny should have been pulled from her no-hitter game. Multiple hearts are broken. – Favorite scenes – Favorite lines Make sure to join the ReWatchable ReWinders group on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ReWatchablePodcast/) and chat with us about all sorts of fun ReWatchable-related things! Watch Roswell, New Mexico on the CW! And she has an IMDB page! While on Hulu, Natalie realized that Pitch is the first show we’ve done on here that she is very sad that there is no more! Danielle has been ordering in food and she is ordering a full brunch spread AND a full rib dinner for 2 (to eat over multiple days). Hey Pitch is on Hulu now! Pitch season 1, episode 9, “Scratched” – Blip is not pleased about the restaurant business dealings over dinner, but he wants to please everyone – Evelyn calls in backup when she realizes that things are not adding up – Natalie consults the Wikipage to get a sense of who Ginny’s brother is… it’s not wrong… – He is Mr. Confident, has the paperwork, but his actions move too fast – Did he buy the kitchen equipment? – He’s the Zuckerberg of Mo-Cap – We know nothing else about this man. He’s rich. – Romance is happening elsewhere! With Al’s daughter! – Oscar tells her to stay, but she never does what the men in her life want. You go girl. – Natalie is on her way to work internationally, but would she have stuck around if the show went on? – She and our Natalie both have a nose ring and are cool – Mike-O-Mania time, that’s why you are all here right? – Let’s break down why Mike is agreeing to a trade – Mike gets his ovation at home – What does it mean that this was taken out of his hands and wasn’t his decision? – How did we think the interaction with Mike and Livan played out in the locker room? – Forget Livan, how do you say goodbye to Ginny? – Start by nailing her cleats to her locker – And then text her to come to the bar – Hug her on the street – And then find you’re staying – Did they bring in this romance too soon? – We have conflicting feelings about this. Romance wins out. – Next week: Pitch the Cats musical! We’re running low on fun facts, but we do learn that Danielle’s cat plays fetch with a toy taco! She can play for the Padres! Hey Pitch is on Hulu now! Pitch season 1, episode 8, “Unstoppable Forces and Immovable Objects” – These are the episodes of Pitch Danielle has been waiting for! – What did we think about the return of Ginny’s brother? – Will’s return is not exactly a fun return, but his life is stacked against Ginny’s – EW did an interview about this episode with the Pitch writers. You can read it here (https://ew.com/article/2016/11/18/pitch-season-1-episode-8-guest-blog/) . – Evelyn! No! Do not get swayed by Will’s restaurant business – Amelia and Ginny should probably talk about Ginny’s family a bit more – Were Amelia’s actions above board here? Or did it cross a line? – It does not rain in California. 17 rain outs in 40 years. Can you believe it? – Mike is having a rough go of it. A really rough go. – Al values having Mike in the clubhouse, which is a huge endorsement. He needs him in more than one place. – No more speeches, let’s rally the troops another way and get everyone off their phones! – Where does the money go to that they raise during the hearings? – Can we have a ReWatchable pizza party with the money? – Buck would NEVER give that sign. – Also, Mike calm down that was an explosive episode – Good on Ginny for taking the high road here and also being concerned about what was going on underneath the outbursts – Can’t you see that we are destined to be together?! Who hasn’t had this crush though? – Mike completely told on himself here when he listed all the things he loves, err, notices about Ginny – How was her humming on a scale of Off Key to Katy Perry? – Do Mike and Ginny have “Firework” potential? – Wait, why is Mike going to the Cubs? – “It’s okay for me to want this thing for myself” – maybe this isn’t just about shipping! Is this even ReWatchable? – Blip had some great one-liners in this episode – Levan and Ginny are flirty, but in a good and innocent way that makes us want to see them work together forever – Oscar is basically a fireman — get the people towels, fix the field, don’t refund tickets, and please get Mike to leave! – Charlie needs a new fridge (Brittany will die on this hill) – Oscar needs a raise – Favorite Scenes – Favorite Lines Make sure to join the ReWatchable ReWinders group on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ReWatchablePodcast/) and chat with us about all sorts of fun ReWatchable-related things! Or does he just need to learn a lesson? – What do we think about how Mike handled Duarte’s arrival? – Did the flashbacks help a bit more here than they do in perhaps some other episodes? – To no one’s surprise, Ariana loves Levan – Levan treats Ginny as a player and, honestly, he is the only one – Can Levan make it work and adapt so that both he and Mike can stay forever? – Mike speaking to the press, covering for Levan, and making Ginny listen to his calls is what makes him a good captain – What do we think about someone else getting a flashback? Would a flashback work for anyone else? – How did we take the father reveal in the flashbacks? – Mike’s mom is a hard pill to swallow – Did Mike stay in San Diego for his dad? – Is Mike leaving? Did he start trade rumors? – “We have two days off in 10 days” is going to be my go-to line when someone starts to complain about something at work they have no control over – Al takes Ginny out for a night on the town — to ease her nerves and take her mind off the game – In the actual game, Ginny listens to Levan and the panel listens to Danielle and Brittany talk about pitcher rules – What do we think about how the picture plot turned out? – The fake mole. The ReWatchable team suits up for our first big game under the lights. We’re talking all things Pitch season 1, episode 1 on this week’s episode! Superfans: Danielle and Ariana Newbies: Kendra, Natalie and Brittany Fun Facts: Brittany rented and watched the 2020 Emma adaptation approximately six times in the 48-hour rental window. Let us know your favorite Knightly! Ariana began watching Greek and it’s wonderful because the stakes are just so, so low. Natalie has not read the Austen books, but she does love the films! Now might be the time to read the text plus they are free all over! Kendra is watching Succession and everyone is horrible except for Greg and Tom. They are good boys. Danielle is reading a book called Crave and it sounds like a parody of Twilight. Pitch season 1, episode 1, “Pilot” – Newbies, first impressions: like it or dislike it? – The introduction is very cinematic and does more to show not tell us what is going on – There is a palpable buzz in the air – Plus, the details from the women sending her gifts to the nectarines were beautiful – Casting Kylie Bunbury – Was this a stunt or was there more lead time for Ginny’s arrival on the team? – Technicalities of baseball, who hits, who is in the field, who is baseball? – How does Amelia fit into this picture? What are her motivations? – Mike Lawson: love him or hate him? – What is a manager and general manager? – Mark Consuelos is a gem. Get ready, because ReWatchable is back! We’re tackling the cancelled-too-soon series Pitch! Here is your cast of superfans and newbies for Pitch: Superfans: Danielle, Ariana Newbies: Brittany, Kendra, Natalie Let’s get started: – What’s ReWatchable? – The rules: 1. One TV episode per podcast episode 2. Two newbies and two superfans (hopefully!) 3. NO SPOILERS! 4. Please give us feedback and share the love! Meet the hosts: – Danielle is our lead host and superfan who started on Veronica Mars and has been on most rounds with a few gaps. She has taken to home life well and has a few plants that she has named. She has visited Ariana and they discovered their fates are written in the stars… literally. She is working from home now (like most of the world) and wants a cat! One thing making her happy is the career trajectory of Hayley Williams from Paramore has some great solo music that she is vibing with! – Natalie is experiencing her second show as a newbie, previously she was a newbie on Sense8. She was a host on Avatar and Agent Carter. For older listeners, Natalie is FINALLY in her house that she has been renovating! Since the last time she was on she has been to Israel and had a family dinner 15 years in the making to celebrate her grandmother’s 90th birthday. One thing currently making her happy is finding a way back to reading physical books in these trying times. – Kendra is our newest addition joining us from Agent Carter forward. Since we last heard from her, she has learned to ski, but has also discovered that she likes ski-life, but not the sport exactly. However, not to brag, but she made it down one full run without falling so look out for her in 2022. But perhaps she will try out dentistry instead if her career as a professional Harry Potter Lego player for Nintendo Switch doesn’t pan out. Her dogs are really happy that the humans are in isolation! – Ariana is FINALLY a superfan! You may recognize her from… every show (except Firefly). Since we recorded last, Brittany and Ariana met in real life, she also hung out with Danielle and they watched a lot of Baby Daddy. While Danielle was in town, they went on an Agent Carter-themed tour of Los Angeles. Ariana has a rescue cat and recommends that you consider fostering an animal! – Brittany is still a newbie (4lyfe) and returns after last appearing on Agent Carter. She previously hosted two shows no one wants to talk about, but jokes on you because Pushing Daisies taught us how to live during this pandemic — don’t touch anyone or anything. Since her last appearance she has forgotten how to do shownotes, but also got to meet Ariana and attend the Angel reunion at NYCC! One thing making her happy is all of the Broadway stars performing on social platforms during quarantine! What do we know? – It’s about sports! – It was impossible to access in Australia when it aired – But sometimes if you don’t tune in right away things disappear! – Ariana went to the Paley Fest panel for Pitch and really connected to the series at a time when she needed to be connected to the something with passion (Fall 2016) – What are the stakes that come with being the person who everyone is hanging their hopes on? – A lot can change in 4 years, but hopefully it will hold up! WHO KNOWS MAYBE WE WILL ALSO WATCH A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN! Listener Feedback: – Look, we know we’ve been gone for a while, but we are back and that’s all that matters! Contact us! Maj met Matt Mercer from Critical Role (and Overwatch). Karen is so excited Big Mouth is back. Kendra got her hair cut. Ariana fell in the parking lot. Danielle finally has Anna and the Apocalypse on DVD. Veronica Mars season 4, episode 8, “Years, Continents, Bloodshed”: -Synopsis -Big Dick got his head chopped off…and Matty saw the whole thing. -What was the point of the cartel guys? And why did we never see their boss again? -Is there something wrong with Matty? -Dick should’ve at least gotten a scene by the end of the episode. -Why was there so much focus on all those weapons? -Are we surprised the Pizza Guy was the bomber? -Did all of the bombs make logical sense? -Did we ever suspect any of the other characters? -Is Veronica Mars trying to make a statement? -How did this villain compare to the others? -Are we surprised Veronica and Logan actually got married? -Maybe she could’ve taken this a little more seriously. -Keith is okay! -Was all this death and sadness really necessary? -Logan’s entire death feels so…wrong. -This whole plot is messy and could’ve been so much better. -Maj reads a quote from Rob Thomas and we hate it. -Is there anything that could’ve made this better? -Who knew what happened beforehand? -Did we like the one-year time jump? -The 09ers won. -Clyde and Keith break up. -Matty is the new Veronica. (And she had the ring the whole time!) -Veronica finally gets therapy! -Is there anything we wished had happened in the finale? -What do we think is next? Veronica Mars season 4, episode 7, “Gods of War”: -Synopsis -Veronica makes a lot of mistakes! -She was also being kind of a dick to Logan. -It’s a good thing she’s not waiting on him, but she could give him a little more time. -Veronica was also a dick to Nicole. -But we hope it’s not over with her! She needs more friends. -Speaking of friends, Veronica was ALSO a dick to Wallace. -Why is she still treating him the way she was treating him in high school? -That sex dream was a lot to take in. -Did Veronica make a good decision to say yes to Logan’s marriage proposal? -Why did Veronica feel relief? -Will Veronica and Logan make a good married couple? -What did we think of the action at the cabin? -Did we like Weevil’s arrival? -Are we meant to believe the Pizza Guy really did those other bombs? -Why don’t the FBI think he did it? -That vending machine scene was ROUGH. -Clyde is on his own now. -How do we feel about Clyde at this point? -Do we think Big Dick is gonna die? -Little Dick turned out okay, all things considered. -Do we care about the Maloofs? -That limerick was dumbbbb. -But it’s great to see Veronica and her father working together. -Favorite scenes -Favorite lines Make sure to join the ReWatchable’s ReWinders group on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ReWatchablePodcast/) and chat with us about all sorts of fun ReWatchable-related things! The ReWatchable hosts return to discuss Veronica Mars season 4, episode 6, “Entering a World of Pain.” Fun facts: Kendra is pumped to go see It and It: Chapter 2at the drive-in [EDITOR’S NOTE: Unfortunately, due to some audio issues, you will not be able to hear her!]. Kristen is obsessed with all things Big Brother and is waiting to see if Nicole can get herself to the final 2. Ariana finished the Four Weddings and a Funeral series this week, and is desperate for someone to talk to about it. Danielle is still an emo kid at heart, and right now, a very tired one. Veronica Mars season 4, episode 6, “Entering a World of Pain”: -Synopsis -We found out that Big Dick and Clyde were responsible for the Sea Sprite bomb, and, turns out, they didn’t plan on killing anyone. -Who uses wi-fi to trigger a bomb?! -Does Keith still view Clyde as a friend, or has he moved him completely to the suspect column? -Pizza guy is back, and ready to share his theory about “Prostitute yourself” to the authorities… but the police chief is so done and dismisses him pretty quickly. -Veronica trusts him and his murderheads to do deep background on the frat bros. Smart move? Is she just trying to unload some busy work? -We finally see Veronica investigating the cartel guys, and it involves a health-related rouse from Keith. Veronica panics before she can fully flee the scene and checks on Keith rather than just high-tailing it out of there. -The Malouf’s blackmailer is a really awful teenager, but watching Logan handle him is the most interesting aspect of this storyline. -The blackmailer does hand Logan some helpful information regarding the cartel, so at least it’s worth it. -Weevil is very conflicted in this ep. He knows the cartel guys are gonna bring trouble Veronica’s way, but he’s still upset with her. -Veronica and Weevil have a fight, and honestly, Veronica comes off more than a little self-righteous. -Logan gets a very untimely phone call. He gets called away, and we do a lot of speculating about what he might actually be doing when he gets called away on missions. -Veronica definitely has some abandonment issues, and Leo has never really left her, but does that mean we want to see anything more happen between them? -A brief discussion of Veronica’s bugging and listening in on Nicole’s private moments. -Favorite scenes -Favorite lines Make sure to join the ReWatchable’s ReWinders group on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ReWatchablePodcast/) and chat with us about all sorts of fun ReWatchable-related things! The ReWatchable hosts return to discuss Veronica Mars season 4, episode 5, “Losing Streak.” Fun facts: Kendra went to a loosely Harry Potter themed bar where pretty much all the drinks are on fire. Kristen is psyched for the start of football season and, therefore, fall. Danielle has a weird association between tomatoes and chocolate chip cookies that she has no idea how it happened. Veronica Mars season 4, episode 5, “Losing Streak”: -Synopsis -Logan definitely lets a little jealousy show about how much time Veronica has spent with Leo. -Does he have a reason to be jealous of their friendship? -Police Chief Langdon is a little rough with how she handles the latest bomb victims’ father, but he was kind of an ass. -How does this show want us to feel about this police force and the new Chief? -You know what, let’s go to a party. Veronica and Nicole wreak a little bit of havoc. Just a tiny bit. -Sometimes you leave a party to go do a little shooting, not a great thing to be doing under the influence, if you ask us. -Nicole gets honest with Veronica about her rape, and V is really quiet about it. -Veronica bugs Nicole’s office at the end of the episode, and we have some differing opinions about the how and why of it all. -Let’s talk about Veronica and Weevil’s scene in this episode. -Big Dick and Clyde are working with the PCH-ers -Keith gets day drunk with Clyde and it’s interesting (and kind of cool) that Keith has friends. -Pizza guy does have a small presence in this ep, as he picks through the bomber’s letter with the other murderheads. -Ducks and bugs and rats, oh my! -Mattie is evolving into Veronica 2.0 quite quickly. -How do we feel about things coming full circle? -Keith is thinking of not only retiring from the business, but of closing down Mars Investigations altogether. -Talk about full circle moments: Can Keith end up as Veronica’s receptionist, please? Lol -Logan thinks that Veronica isn’t happy at Mars Investigations, which really took us by surprise. -If Veronica wasn’t happy away from Mars Investigations, why wouldn’t she be happy there? -Favorite scenes -Favorite lines Make sure to join the ReWatchable’s ReWinders group on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ReWatchablePodcast/) and chat with us about all sorts of fun ReWatchable-related things! Shame. -Ghosts of cases past trip to Chino. -Were we surprised by anyone we saw? -Tim the TA is now a jailhouse lawyer. -Mercer is still gross. -Keith finds out Big Dick is buying up seaside businesses by using shell companies pretending to be Mom and Pop shops. -A guy wakes up with a bomb strapped to him. -This will be seared into our brains forever. -The FBI is here and so is super hot Leo Dimatto. -He brings Veronica food! -But he’s also kind of a creepy and terrible person? -Book plot shout out: Veronica working with Leo on the rape case at the Neptune Grand. -Leo and Veronica have a heart to heart about their love lives and snacks -Logan is VERY OG Logan in this episode with all of his snark. -Weevil saves Veronica. -To be fair, she was kind of dumb. -Matty is hanging out with the Murderheads. -This is maybe not a good thing. -Maluf’s mom hires Vinnie Van Lowe to find the fiance’s ring. -Veronica catches Clyde at the hardware store. -This was honestly a stretch. -Clyde is becoming friends with Keith. -Clyde is so CHARMING. -The senator is having nightmares about the fiance’s brothers he had killed by the cartel guys and now he’s on edge. -The Pizza Guy blames Big Dick for the bombings at the city council meeting. -Oh, and one more thing. Kristen is into Why Women Kill on CBS All Access. Karen is rocking the pink hair again. Danielle went to a date at the Catcade (in Chicago for those in the area) and also recommends googling the banana scene from Not Another Teen Movie. Veronica Mars season 4, episode 3, “Keep Calm and Party On”: -Recap -Veronica gets mugged by a PCH-er, and she kinda turns it around on him thanks to her trusty taser. -Do we believe the theory that Pizza Guy is spouting about the Maloofs paying off (and subsequently killing) the fiancé? -The Senator: Do we see a future for him as a new Veronica Mars character? Would we be interested in him continuing to appear in any future Veronica Mars seasons. -Whether its the brothers or the Cartel guys, the Senator was pretty scared and definitely was ill-prepared for things to go this far. -King Dick and the party. -Karen is unsure about Nicole, but only because she’s been burned before by certain other characters *eh hem* Beaver *eh hem*. -Matty shows up at Mars Investigations with some exposition and it connects her and Veronica in ways we’ve already kind of been aware of, but it becomes more contextual. -Is Veronica ready to be a mentor? -Perry Walsh: Sea Sprite bomber or just a cog in the criminal machine? -Is there more to the police force’s shadiness than just taking credit for Keith and Veronica’s work? -Is this portrayal of police trying to say something more about the state of policing in our current climate? -Dick ribbing Logan about the ring was funny… but also, too soon? -Time to talk about the murderheads meeting. -It didn’t sit well with us how these murderheads kept talking about Lily and the LoVe relationship. -Perry Walsh + Big Dick + Clyde + these 6 $100 bills + the Chino connection= conspiracy or coincidence? -Unanimous Weevil love. -Weevil and Hector are both back and it really does make us happy. -Famous faces and where to find them! -Favorite Scenes -Favorite Lines Make sure to join the ReWatchable’s ReWinders group on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ReWatchablePodcast/) and chat with us about all sorts of fun ReWatchable-related things! Danielle is very excited about the ACE Chicago Comic Con 2019 lineup and is excited to see if she can get interviews with any of them. Veronica Mars season 4, episode 2, “Chino and the Man”: -Some of us were faked out by Dick’s death, and some of us totally saw it coming. -Dick Casablancas, action movie star is a successful future we can totally see working for him. -Danielle is happy to have him back, since he was absent from the first episode. -The youngest Maluf does not act mature enough to have been engaged. He’s acting like a 12 year old in mourning over his fingers, when he should be mourning the loss of the love of his life. -Logan gets himself in a huge fight, but it’s in a much more controlled, un-Logan-like way. -“Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” is the perfect song for this scene. -Maddie: Is she Veronica 2.0 or is she just acting out in grief? -Hi Liam Fitzpatrick. We really couldn’t be more pumped to be able to record more Veronica Mars discussion with Hulu’s release of season 4 just a few short weeks ago! We won’t really have the same superfan and newbie designations since we’ve all seen Veronica Mars seasons 1-3 and the movie, so just come hang out with us as we discuss each episode of season 4 every week. Fun Facts: Kendra got to be at the Veronica Mars panel at SDCC a few weeks ago, and she tells us all about how awesome it was. Ariana just saw Gabrielle the other day, who was a host on the first round of Veronica Mars on ReWatchable, which is just so timely and wonderful. Maj found out that her cousin is having a baby! That’s always fun. Kristen is geeking out about Alexis Denisof (Wesley Wyndam-Pryce from Buffy) being on Legacies season 2! Karen (and Kristen) just watched Jupiter Ascending (written and directed by the Wachowskis) and it has three Sense8 cast members in it, so if you’re missing seeing them on your screen, check it out! (It’s on U.S. Netflix at the moment.) Veronica Mars: Introduction Discussion -We’re really excited to jump back into this show. All of our hosts have seen seasons 1-3 and the movie, but not all of us have watched season 4 yet, so we have some sorta newbies at the moment (that’s subject to change), but we won’t really have the division between superfans and newbies for this session. -The Veronica Mars (round 1) introduction episode can be found here (https://www.hypable.com/podcast/rewatchable-episode-16-veronica-mars-introduction/) . -The Veronica Mars movie discussion episode can be found here (https://www.hypable.com/podcast/rewatchable-episode-50-veronica-mars-movie-discussion/) . -Our structure will still be one episode at a time, no matter how much of the season we’ve all seen. -We will be spoiler-free for each episode, so keep that in mind for all your feedback and discussions in ReWatchable’s ReWinders! -We each take a second to talk about what we are most excited to see in season 4. -There’s definitely a little shipping going on, some mystery fun, a lot of love for Papa Mars, and love for all things growth and development. -Do we want to see more Veronica Mars after this? Make sure to join the ReWatchable’s ReWinders group on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ReWatchablePodcast/) and chat with us about all sorts of fun ReWatchable-related things! Oh, and hey! Kristen just got back from Washington D.C. for Apollycon and had a blast with all the book people. Ariana is officially a fan of the jumpsuit, especially sweatsuit ones from Target that are really comfortable. Natalie has a couple of fun pajama stories to share. Agent Carter season 1, episode 7, “SNAFU” -Synopsis -SNAFU has more meaning than you’d imagine. Natalie enlightens us to the WWII-esque meaning. -The Russian Doctor guy (Ivchenko) wasn’t always all bad, as we see in the flashback, but he’s up to no good now on Agent Carter thanks to Leviathan. -We pick up right where we left off with Peggy, as she is beginning to be interrogated by Jack (Chad Michael Murray), Sousa, and Dooley. -Sousa is the most emotional about this, and therefore has the least effective technique. -Dooley is trying the manipulation angle to get her to admit her actions in order to get the credit. -Jack is probably the most effective, but since Peggy is smarter than all of them, she doesn’t let their tactics get her into trouble. -Sousa is the most put out by Peggy’s betrayal, mostly because he’s so in love with her and he thinks she’s been shacking up with Howard Stark. -Russian guy is playing nice, but hypnotizing Dooley slowly to get him to do his bidding. -And then Jarvis busts into the scene. -Rose is a secret badass who takes her charge as gatekeeper seriously… until Jarvis name drops Howard Stark and the words “signed confession.” -Jarvis’ signed confession is a total fake, but he had to come up with something when Peggy didn’t meet him after separating to get Steve’s blood from the Griffith. -Another ‘Battle of Finow’ reference. -Dooley’s storyline here is SO SAD. And it doesn’t get any better.

Agent Carter season 1, episode 4, “The Blitzkrieg Button” -Synopsis -Peggy and Jarvis show up for a special delivery that ends up being none other than Howard Stark himself. -Not as surprising as it probably should have been. -In order to keep Howard hidden from the SSR, who are totally onto him, Peggy smuggles him into the Griffith. -Is Howard being irresponsible or just playing things on the fly? -Dooley heads to Nuremberg to question a Nazi. -How do we feel about the tactics that the SSR uses to get info (cianide caps/beatings/lying, etc) -Dooley learns that Howard left the area after the massacre, and is even more suspicious of Mr. Stark -Jack Thompson AKA Chad Michael Murray is left in charge and he puts them all on notice that he’s gonna be Mr. No Nonsense. -Sousa brings in a homeless man for questioning but doesn’t get answers until Jack steps in. -Is this show a fair example of the time or is it a little over-the-top? -Did Sousa need to get into the story behind his leg or was it a little much for the situation? -Howard asks Peggy to get one of his inventions, the Blitzkrieg Button, because it could be used to black out a city. -Peggy gets the item, but she doesn’t believe Howard, so she presses the button and finds a vial of what we later learn is Steve Rogers’ blood. -Howard and Peggy have (rather loud) words about his lying and the blood. -Why didn’t Howard just tell Peggy the truth and ask her to rescue Steve’s blood from the SSR? -Stan Lee cameo! -Natalie provides some Stan Lee fun facts. -The creepy blonde guy shows up to deliver flowers to Peggy as a ruse to get to her room, but is taken down by ninja Dottie. -Ariana totally called the Dottie is evil thing last week. -We are left with the magic typewriter clicking away… as Dooley looks on. -Favorite Scenes -Favorite Lines Listener Feedback: – We have a lot of Jack feelings, and we are definitely hoping to see growth out of him. – One listener would really like us to do Wildfire at some point.
