Emer McLysaght is our shepherd through this week's entertainment stories and they are beefy. Having just returned from the final gig of Taylor Swift's final stop on the European leg of the eras tour, she had a lot to say on that, and we obviously had to get into the Oasis reunion (with a special audio note from Sarah Breen, probably Ireland's biggest Oasis fan). We also discuss Chappell Roan's refusal to accept stalking and harrassment as part of her job, Lily Allen's doggy drama and lots more besides. To support the podcast and access bonus episodes join our community on Patreon.Get tickets for my live show featuring Marian Keyes here!

Apologies for the sound quality in this episode — we accidentally left a window open and unfortunately the traffic is quite noisy, sorry! This month’s Book Club pick is one of our favourite novels of 2019: Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. We found this alternate reality romance a more bittersweet read the second time around, and on this spoiler-filled episode, we’re talking enemies-to-lovers romance, a threat to the British monarchy, painfully optimistic political worldbuilding, and real-life parallels to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Plus, stay tuned at the end for some of our favourite contemporary romances, including the British romance you absolutely have to read if you loved RWRB. The books we recommend:- The Kiss Quotient and The Bride Test by Helen Hoang- Get a Life Chloe Brown and Take a Hint Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert- Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall- The Reluctant Royals series by Alyssa Cole- The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams- To All the Boys series by Jenny Han- Oh My God, What A Complete Aisling by Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen

In today’s podcast, we bring you the recording of the event. Thanks to our sponsor Green and Blacks, to everyone in Irish Times Sales for helping organise the event and to the Docklands in Cork for hosting.
Oh. My God! This week I am joined by author, journalist and mother of three Sarah Breen. Sarah is one half of the creative team behind the award winning ‘Aisling’ series of novels. As a former country girl in the city myself, I have laughed and cried my way through both Aisling books so far and can’t wait to see her adventures in book number three: Once, Twice, Three Time an Aisling. And I equally couldn’t wait to hear Sarah’s take on motherhood, and she didn’t disappoint. Sarah’s first child was born in Arizona and Sarah elected to forgo the American hospital system and chose a natural birth centre called the Baby Moon Inn. And it was fascinating to hear how it compared to Sarah’s Irish labours. Especially in regards to the amount of post birth support she was given. Sarah was determined to breastfeed and despite facing early issues (a front and back tongue tie) she persevered and fed her first child up to her third birthday. With three babies and books under her belt I wondered how Sarah found a balance in her life and she fully admits that at the minute her life is very unbalanced and she often finds herself up to 2am in the morning “typing away like a vampire.” Although there’s nothing a good long shower can’t fix - something we both agree on. And of course we talk about her other creation: Aisling and what she would be like as a mother. Although Sarah was keeping tight lipped about what lies in the future for Aisling in both book form and screen, I think we would all agree that Aisling would enjoy organising all the baby clothes! Sarah is super busy at the moment and I was so grateful she agreed to chat with me right in the middle of her hectic press schedule. The latest Aisling book along with the previous books 'Oh My God What a Complete Aisling' and 'The Importance of Being Aisling' are available from all book shops. And you can follow Sarah on her Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/sarahjaybee/ Thanks as always for listening and if you would like to keep the discussion going please follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/forallmumkind/ If you are enjoying the series so far please take the time to rate and review me on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. In episode 30 of The One Fab Day Wedding Podcast, we're tackling a subject that is always the source of much controversy, and often, a lot of head-scratching on the part of the engaged couple, too: children at weddings. We've talked through the most frequently asked questions on this topic - whether you should invite children to your wedding, how to break the news to parents that they're not invited, and how to keep them occupied if they are going to be there on the day. Whether you're having an adults-only wedding, or a kid-friendly bash, this should be helpful listening for every couple! Episode Breakdown: Episode 30: Should You Invite Children to Your Wedding?Wedding tip: Claire's top tip this week is all about why you need to assign one of your guests with the job of 'photo manager'!Main topic: Today's main topic is all about children at weddings, a subject that can all too often be divisive! As always, there are no hard and fast rules about whether or not you should have children at your wedding, but hopefully our chat will help you figure out what's suitable for your wedding, how to discuss the topic with your guests, and, if you end up inviting kids along, how to make it a more enjoyable day for them! Wedding dilemma: We had a lovely email from a groom who's having a same-sex wedding. He writes, “My significant other wants us to get ready together the morning of the wedding, but I'm conflicted with this. On one hand, I think we would have some great wedding photos and it would be sweet on our video, but on the other hand, I want to get ready with my wedding party and feel a momentum of adrenaline seeing him during the ceremony. There are no dresses involved as we are both wearing suits but I still think the thrill might be nice!”Something to do when you're not planning your wedding: In this episode, Claire's recommending some great new Irish books out this month by female authors. Sophie White's Filter This, Vicky Phelan's autobiography with Naomi Linehan, Overcoming and the new Aisling book, by Sarah Breen and Emer McLysaght are currently at the top of her reading list. Thanks for listening! Thanks for listening! Got something to add to the conversation? Shoot us a mail at hello@onefabday.com. It's very easy to moan and groan about the influx of hotels and the homogenisation of the landscape in cities and towns around the country, but it's worth remembering that it’s not the job of hotel owners to shape the fabric of our society, it’s their job to build hotels and make money. So, who's job is it? When it comes to being custodians of culture and city planning, we have the Minister for Culture & Heritage, her department, Dublin City Council and many art institutions and councils. When it comes to the night time economy or life after dark, however, it is that so often these pursuits aren't considered culture. But, the fact of the matter is -- clubbing IS culture. This week, we're talking to Global Night Mayor advocate Mirik Milan, who was the first Night Mayor of Amsterdam in 2012, along with Philly McMahon, who has challenged the definition and scope of culture with ThisIsPopBaby. This episode of the podcast is longer than a club night in Dublin and it's time for us all to get behind and champion culturally relevant nightlife in Ireland. We also have the "complete Aisling", Sarah Breen as our county rep for Carlow, news from the week, top Carlow facts, Get In the Sea and of course, our Tuna Chicken Roll.

One of the most recent Irish words to enter common parlance is Aisling – a sensible girl from outside Dublin with an aversion to notions. While the origin of other words based on names are lost in the mists of time, we can trace this one to a popular Facebook group, Oh My God What A Complete Aisling. The creators of this group, Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen, have written a book of the same name and were kind enough to pop into HeadStuff to chat to Darach and Éimear about it. They also discuss hotel breakfasts, Christmas Mass, the Irish roots of the name Aisling and her hometown, Ballygobbard… and the positives of social media. --- Contact the show at https://twitter.com/motherfocloir or email us at motherfocloir@headstuff.org.

While forestry’s past played a significant role in the development of many rural places, major shifts, including some as a result of climate change, are shaping a future that might look quite different from what we’re used to. Join us for a discussion of the future of forestry. You’ll hear voices (and sounds) from the Harrop-Proctor Community Forest, Greg Lay, a life-long forester, Dr. Sarah Breen, a researcher at Selkirk College in Castlegar, BC, and Dr. Philomena of the University of the Highlands and Islands in Inverness.
