In todays episode I give you 3 areas to self-assess when it comes to knowing how far your bandwith can stretch before it actually breaks.Over committing for you might look like.. never being able to say to overtime, always saying yes to social events, feeling sluggish and low energy on your days off, being irritable towards people in your life, feeling annoyed when you see an event pop on your calendar. This came up for me the other day when I felt annoyed towards a patient I had scheduled for a home visit when I didn't really want to.. I was angry and irritable towards them because I made the CHOICE to spread myself too thing so it made me ask myself -- who else is negatively being affected by my over committing?& I realized I don't want to be remembered as the person who over commits and under delivers. Who sometimes shows up. Is sometimes happy. How do YOU want to be remember? What is the impact YOU want to have on the energy of a room? It's important to know YOU are in control of your energy and time and by over committing, not only are you forgetting about yourself but the people around you are Come hangout with me on IG @michaela_robertson_

I hear people with anxiety tell me all the time, “I just don't have the bandwidth.” Implying they don't have the energy, or the time. But where did this LACK come from? How do we already start the day ‘behind'?If this sounds like you, pause. Breathe. Take a second. As you're breathing, focus on the here and now. Stop focusing on the tasks of the week, and getting everything done all on one day. You have the bandwidth. Focus on the NEW day put in front of you, and the new capacity you were given by started the day fresh. If you operate from a “new day, new me” perspective, you'll be able to put more intention and focus into each activity of your life. You have to appreciate that and actually SEE / feel that. And when you focus on the present moment, you'll see that your capacity will open up, and you'll be able to tackle everything at 100%. You have the bandwidth. By the end of the day, the week, and the month, you'll see how much you were able to accomplish. But as long as you're operating from a place of scarcity, it'll be hard to see the forest for the trees. To summarize, the things one day at a time. Make a list. Get it out on paper. The list is just a series of things in rotation that stay there until they get done. So if it doesn't happen today, we can do them another day. You have the bandwidthCome hang in my Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/teamjaim91Or connect with me on Instagram: instagram.com/jaim91
Alan is visited by Cynthia Spraggs - The CEO and Founder of Virtira. Cynthia talks about how early on she knew that she didn’t want to work a regular job. She says that in order to be able to work effectively virtually you really have to be able to communicate well. Some companies are doing a hybrid of working from home and the office. There are a lot of offices recently available because of companies working remotely. She says that if you are working from home you have to figure out how to limit your bandwidth to deal with the influx of internet usage. Alan says don't overload yourself either or you will crash just like a modem They talk about how servicing equipment at people’s home offices is a booming business right now. Alan speaks with Shelley Brander - Founder and CEO of Loops Productions. Shelley talks about her new book, Move the Needle: Yarns from an Unlikely Entrepreneur. She says you need to make your hobby your jobby. She opened a yarn store despite everyone telling her she was crazy, but she pushed ahead and succeeded. Putting a price tag on creativity is hard. Alan says that being creative is a currency. Shelley believes everyone needs a mentor to help guide them, especially when first starting out. She also says that you should hire help as soon as you can, because it is like putting gas on a fire and just makes your business expand all the faster. 3 Takeaways:It’s not where you start, but where you finish. If you are someone that is brought into a company to do a job, don’t approach day 1 as if you’ve been there for years. It’s important to start any venture small and grow from there. You need to adapt to your surroundings. With everything that is on in the world with COVID, companies like AutoZone needed to change the way they attracted customers to go to their stores and that is part of what Jason and his team need to figure out on a daily basis. Having a plan is one of the most important things when it comes to working with a major company. It’s easy to say you can’t do something, but if you head into every job or every project with a plan and a template it will help you be able to handle whatever gets thrown your way.Key Quotes:“ In my case, it has been showing how much project work we can do versus how much support work we have to do. It's easy to drift into, “we can't do that now. We don't have the bandwidth, we can't do this because we don't have enough people to support it”, but we spend a lot of time designing and architecting and we have developed a series of, I call them recipes. You could call them templates, but it's reusable pieces of functionality that have become tried and tested, they're like building blocks.”“I always tell people that you need to find something in it that you can relate to. If you're a programmer if you're a data analyst or data scientist do something that you actually would want to use.”Bio:Since 2018 Jason has been the I.T. Manager, Business Intelligence/Data Management at AutoZone. Prior to that, he spent time as a senior consultant with IBM and American home Shield. Jason graduated from Rhodes College in 1994.Thanks to our friendsTruth Be Known is brought to you by Talend, a leader in data integration and data integrity, enabling every company to find clarity amidst the chaos. Earlier this week, the Office of Management and Budget told all federal agencies in the national capital region to extend “maximum telework” flexibilities to their employees. The Defense Department said it’s trying to do that, but the Pentagon employees who are already teleworking have already started to put a strain on DoD’s IT infrastructure. Officials are now in the process of prioritizing which employees they can add to the telework population. Federal News Network’s Jared Serbu has been covering the Pentagon’s telework ramp-up. He joined Federal Drive with Tom Temin for more.
