"Finding her body has burnt an indelible image in my mind. It is something a father should never have to suffer."On the morning of 22 October 2018, family and friends of missing 24-year-old Toyah Cordingley would scour the area around Wangetti Beach, a quiet and secluded stretch of sand not too far away from Toyah's hometown of Cairns. There - partially buried in sand dunes - Toyah's body would be found, having endured "visible, violent injuries" before her death. In the years since, police officials have remained tight-lipped about the specific details of their sprawling investigation. But it is believed that they have formulated a good case around the only named suspect, who fled the country just hours after Toyah's death...This is a re-release of an older episode. Because of some expected updates in the case, I wanted to catch everyone up on the story before the next update episode.Special thanks to Hysteria Magazine for letting us borrow the audio from their Red Jumpsuit Apparatus' 29th November 2018 show at The Triffid in BrisbaneEpisode hosted, produced, and research/writing by Micheal WhelanLearn more about this podcast at http://unresolved.meIf you would like to support this podcast and others, consider heading to https://www.patreon.com/unresolvedpod to become a Patron or ProducerBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.

This week: a new series called “In The Shadow Of…”, where we compare obscure bands to a mainstream act. This is not about copycats, but more about artists with similar vibes, sharing a sonic landscape, or whose songwriting and playing styles are sympatico. We kick off this series with a band near and dear to both humble hosts. A band whose live show made us both immediate fans back in 2004; the amazing British power trio MUSE! Join us as we discover other bands influenced and inspired by MUSE's complex yet accessible modern rock. What's this InObscuria thing? We're a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This is not a statement about bands trying to copy one another, but more that they have a shared sound and vision. It's been said that there is no originality left in rock n' roll and also been stated that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. As always, we hope we turn you on to something new!Songs this week include:Tigercub – “Swoon” from The Perfume Of Decay (2023)Anchor Lane – “Stutter” from Call This A Reality? Today's show I sit down and talk to Rapper DaMAC, Resurrection Record's new artist. Who is Damac? The ministry began in 2007 after Michael Lacoste accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord & Savior. It happened in his dorm room at the University of Missouri – Columbia. With a newfound faith, and a passion for youth, his mission became clear: create art that magnifies Jesus and influences the youth. How would he accomplish this? By breaking boundaries and blending different genres of music. In other words, he wanted to make Deeply Anointed Music About Christ (Damac). His first concerts were in front of small groups of students, usually at local youth centers and retreats. The size of the crowd did not matter at all; it was all about sharing Jesus. Since then, Damac has gone on to do great things in Christian music. Damac has released seven albums (Immaculate, Climactic, Supremacy, Journey, The Elephant in the Room, Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil, and For Mama Mac) selling over 10,000 copies independently. In 2011, he was the New Band Showcase Winner at Cornerstone Christian Music Festival. In 2011 & 2012, he was a part of The Extreme Tour, a national Christian music tour. Also in 2011 & 2012, Damac was co-headliner/co-organizer of The Hipster-Hop Tour, a 20 city stop tour. In 2013, Damac signed a recording contract with Rottweiler Records, an independent music label. In 2014, he organized The Supremacy Tour, a 20 city stop tour. In 2015, Damac opened for Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and American Idol Season 11 Finalist, Colton Dixon. In 2016, Damac was co-headliner/co-organizer of The Make Jesus Famous Tour, an 8 city stop tour. Damac has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in Christian music today, such as David Crowder, NF, Sidewalk Prophets, Micah Tyler, Jordan Felix, KB, Cory Asbury, Sho Baraka, Canon, Britt Nicole, Seventh Day Slumber, Building 429, FF5, Tenth Avenue North, Trip Lee, Derek Minor, We Are Messengers, Plumb, Gungor, Propaganda, and Lecrae. Since 2016, Damac has worked with 2x - Grammy and Dove Award nominated producer, Jonny Grande, to produce his albums “Journey”, "The Elephant in the Room", "Hear no Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil," and "For Mama Mac." Jonny Grande has produced for artists such as Jason Derulo, Ty Dolla $ign, George Clinton, Ke$ha, Zauntee, Toby Mac, Steven Malcolm (Word Records), and Tony Tillman (RMG). In 2024, Damac signed a recording contract with Resurrection Records. A decade & 500 shows later, with thousands of people reached, the mission has not changed: make music that glorifies Jesus and reaches people. Damac says, “I'm just trying to be obedient to my calling and see lives changed through the power of the Gospel.” Some things will never change

Labeled: "The Stories, Rumors, & Legends of Tooth & Nail Records"
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus hit the national stage right in the pocket of time where the mainstream was taking notice of what our scene was up to. This was partially due to the unique character of Ronnie Winter, who was able to break in and ride that wave and create opportunity for himself in a way that maybe only he could. Their debut album “Don't You Fake It” released in the summer of 2006 on Virgin Records and was certified gold by November of that same year. That meteoric rise brought along with it all that you could imagine of both positive and negative experiences. In this conversation, Ronnie does a great job of both seeing all the forces at play and owning his own part in it all. A heaping cup of rock, a spoonful of sultry ballads, and a pinch of pop. Suit Up, Soldier was founded by vocalist Wesley Monahan while in college. After several years honing the band's sound and lineup in the competitive Provo music scene, Suit Up, Soldier coalesced with the additions of McKay 'Spartacus' Johnson on drums and Ryan 'Stingray' Rostrom on lead guitar. The band dropped their debut album 'Curse the Day I Act My Age' on May 14, 2021 on all digital music platforms. The album quickly generated buzz and has surpassed 1 million streams on Spotify. This led to regional touring, opportunities to open for established rock acts such as COIN and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and a record deal. The album is now available in physical CD format via Renaissance Records, and the band hopes you'll follow them on social media for updates on tour dates and new releases. Rising from just north of Atlanta, Georgia, comes hard hitting alternative hard rock band Misty Eyed. Lead by compelling and dynamic vocalist Megan Burke and accompanied by guitarist John Eck, with his powerful riffs and melodies, and bassist Wes Powell, who solidly holds down the groove and rhythm, this trio brings a new edge to early 2000s alternative rock. With nods to artists such as Breaking Benjamin, Evanescence, Nothing More, and Five Finger Death Punch to legends like Ozzy Osbourne, Heart and Metallica, Misty Eyed is not shy to exploring their sound and pulling influences from a multitude of artists and genres. Firmly rooted in the idea that our own personal realities are only a collection of the perspectives around us, Misty Eyed showcases these beliefs in the music and lyrics they write; showing that no two people have the same story and that each of those stories deserve to be displayed in their most authentic and genuine form. Formed in 2016, Megan, John, and Wes have continued to grow their sound and their platform. With notable performances alongside of Hollywood Undead, DIAMANTE, Lacey Sturm, and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, a stand out appearence in Virginia at Blue Ridge Rock Fest with a slate to return again in 2021, Misty Eyed has no shortage of growth ahead of them. After signing with 59 X Records in 2019 and bringing new life to one of their first tracks with S.O.S anyone can see their reign will only grow. https://mistyeyedofficial.wixsite.com/mistyeyed https://www.facebook.com/MistyEyedGA https://open.spotify.com/album/4DwjwC1A2BSF2JPYsTnGqY https://music.apple.com/us/album/run-single/1553962084 This episode is proudly brought to you by: Betterhelp : https://www.betterhelp.com/sipod for 10% off Mack Weldon: https://www.mackweldon.com/suckit Promo Code "SUCKIT" for 20% off! Blue Ridge Rock Fest here we go again, this time with Day 4 band, A War Within from Detroit Michigan Based in Detroit MI, A War Within consists of members Spencer Maybe, Nikhil Rao, Zac Bardsley, and Roy Guldenpfennig. The band prides itself on intense live performances and dynamic music that combines technicality with accessibility; crushingly heavy sections that are perfectly balanced by delicate melody. The band was initially founded by prior members in 2014. The debut release was a music video for “Holding On”, and following this came the release of the debut album, “Sons of Saturn”. The record lead to touring with The Paramedic, Sycamour, It Lies Within, Darkness Divided, Spence and Words like Daggers. In 2016, the band released their second full length record, “Believe”, and embarked on several full US tours. The year saw them touring with Blessthefall, Miss May I, The Plot in You, Sirens & Sailors, Divisions, Versus, Darkness Divided and Convictions. A busy year on the road was ended with a few weeks in Portland, Oregon recording with producer Kris Crummett (Sleeping with Sirens, Issues, Dance Gavin Dance). In 2017, the band began releasing the material recorded with Kris, including the two singles “Where the Lines are Drawn” and “Wallflower”. They also toured the East Coast relentlessly, joined by Never I, Alteras, The Few, and Icaria. In the winter of 2017, they began pre-production on their third full length record. The band has earned a consistent following in the Detroit scene, resulting in shows with Attila, The Color Morale, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, For the Fallen Dreams, and more. They have also had the privilege of playing the Detroit date of Van's Warped Tour in both 2015 and 2018. Currently, the band is finishing self-producing and recording their third full length record. They are eagerly anticipating releasing the album and continuing to tour in support of it! https://www.facebook.com/AWARWITHINBAND/ https://twitter.com/awarwithinmusic https://linktr.ee/awarwithin This episode is proudly brought to you by: Betterhelp : https://www.betterhelp.com/sipod for 10% off EveryPlate: https://www.everyplate.com CODE "suckit199" For $1.99 Meals!
