Psalm 23 from our hybrid service Sunday 4th July 2021. This Sunday we take another look at one of the Psalms, which a group within our church family have been studying on Wednesday evenings. This week we take a look at the most famous Psalm of all, Psalm 23. We'll take a brief look at what the Psalm teaches us and then hear from Ben Cox, one of the Bible study group, about what he has learned from it and the impact it has had upon him. It's a familiar part of the Bible, but the insights Ben has to share will bring us all a fresh perspective on these famous words and great encouragement for our walk with Christ. Watch 2 Minute Twist | Peace & Rest (Psalm 23) For more information about who we are, what we believe and how you can get involved, please visit our website Music by The Sense, Youth for Christ touring band 2018/19 (full song).

There is nothing more frightening to figure out than what God's purpose is for your life. For some, it is laid out plainly. For others, the path is obscure and requires some growth before the path is laid plainly laid. Listen to these two extremes flesh themselves out in this episode of Little Light Devotionals. The Liturgy of the Hours, from Luther Seminary Chapel and Augsburg University Campus Ministry. We live in weary times. We seek to be awake, keep watch, hold vigil. We are led this week by Paul and Elizabeth Damico-Carper with the spoken liturgy by Luther Seminary student Ben Cox. This rest is not an abandonment of all that we hold in vigil. It is the acknowledgement of our limitation, our need to rest, our reliance on a God who does not slumber nor sleep. We rest so that we may awake to serve God in the care of our neighbors.

In this episode we tackle a subject that is not necessarily directly veterinary related, or is at least not limited to our profession, but still a critical topic to discuss because of the impact that it will have on all of us, and more importantly, because of the impact that veterinarians can have on it: climate change. If you've ever looked around your workplace and thought to yourself: “ This can't be good for the environment. I really should do something about it.”, or if you are concerned about climate change, but you're not sure where to start, then this episode is for you. We speak to Ben Cox, a founder and a driving force behind an exciting new charity called Veterinarians for Climate Action. Ben comes from a sustainability, engineering and business background and is passionate about climate change because of the impact it will have on future generations and the natural environment. He helped to create Veterinarians for Climate Action as his tool for taking action and inspiring others to do so. VfCA's mission statement is to inspire the veterinary profession to advocate for and achieve climate action within and beyond our industry. This will benefit both our profession and the animals we care for, ensuring a sustainable future for all. In this episode Ben explains to us why we as vets are important in this arena, and how we can be particularly valuable and have a big impact in the push for action on climate change. We talk about what they are doing through the charity; what we can do, including how to have conversations about climate change; what influences the public's opinion on the matter and how we can change it, and what we can do on a practical level in our own workplaces. Ben is practical, pragmatic and hopeful, and definitely someone who you can put your support behind. Please enjoy, Ben Cox, and get ready to make a change. Imagine if human touch were a felony. What would that world look like? Ben Cox of Trailblazer Productions is exploring this question in his productions of TOUCH & TOUCH: INCARNATION. Ben joins the Immersion Nation Podcast for an adventure through dystopian futures, cultural change, and the presently evolving idea of human connection. Ben has used this dystopian backdrop to raise the question, ‘what does it mean to be human?’. In TOUCH, you are placed into the midst of a rebellious group, fighting the regulation of touch. They use the tagline- “We are electric”. While metaphorically appropriate this mantra also has the obvious layer of scientific legitimacy. Now, more than ever, the questions of our common humanity deserve attention. This conversation frames the idea that immersive experience is becoming an incredible tool for the exploration of these questions. Full show notes at Immersion Nation: here

This is week 22 in an extended series on the Book of Psalms. Today's teaching is by Ben Cox, Ministry Leadership team member at theHeart church in Boone, NC. Psalms 141-144 David was a person who made it a priority to pursue God with a passion! DAVID'S PURSUIT 1) David did not pursue the Lord in a performance-based way to win God's favor; or in a religious duty way; he did it with a deep awareness of his desperate need to connect with God/Love on a deep level. Psalm 141:1-2 O Lord I call to you; come quickly to me, Hear my voice when I call to you. May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. Psalm 142:1-3a I cry aloud to (You O Lord); I lift up my voice to (You O Lord) for mercy. I pour out my complaint before (You); before (You) I tell my trouble. When my spirit grows faint within me, it is You who watch over my way. Psalm 143:1&7-9 Lord, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief. Answer me quickly, Lord; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will be like those who go down to the pit. Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. DAVID'S PURSUIT 2) David pursued the Lord with a healthy mistrust of his human nature and a deep awareness of his need to trust the Lord to do for him what he could not do for himself. Psalm 141:3-5 Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips. Do not let my heart be drawn to what is evil so that I take part in wicked deeds along with those who are evildoers; do not let me eat their delicacies. Let a righteous man strike me—that is a kindness; let him rebuke me—that is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it, for my prayer will still be against the deeds of evildoers. Psalm 143:2 Do not bring your servant into judgment, for no one living is righteous before you. DAVID'S PURSUIT 3) David pursued the Lord with a keen awareness of a real battle taking place between the forces of good and evil, darkness and light, the Lord and Satan. Psalm 141:5b-7 … my prayer will still be against the deeds of evildoers. Their rulers will be thrown down from the cliffs, and the wicked will learn that my words were well spoken. They will say, “As one plows and breaks up the earth, so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of the grave.” Psalm 142:6 Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need; rescue me from those who pursue me, for they are too strong for me. Psalms 143:3-4 The enemy pursues me, he crushes me to the ground; he makes me dwell in the darkness like those long dead. So my spirit grows faint within me; my heart within me is dismayed. Psalm 143:9-12 Rescue me from my enemies, Lord, for I hide myself in you. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. For your name's sake, Lord, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble. In your unfailing love, silence my enemies; destroy all my foes, for I am your servant. 1 John 1:8 The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work. March 24th 2013 - the coldest day of this century, at least in Holland. The wind is cutting faces today so we stay inside, listen to music, sleep some extra, and record this legendary show series, Lucid Dreams. This volume 5 will take you away from your daily life, further from the ground than ever before. It’s time to dream. The opening is done by Ben Cox, from his album On Water it sets the tone to kind of ‘Jazzy’ atmospheres which makes it possible to go anywhere... The Montreal duo Elsiane performs a track that you’ll only hear on a show like this... Vertigone is not your average song, but most excellent as the glue between Ben Cox and Steve Roach, the Back to Life album shows another super ambient side of Steve; we go deeper now, total relaxation, switch of the ‘Think’ mode. We’ve arrived now @ the Luna project of Syngate Records, Pete Farn dreams along in the Schwebewald. Completely unique sound and style, Pete has already delivered 11 albums via Syngate to we suggest to check them out as well. Tired of a busy week, the extra hours of sleep are well deserved. An Urban Meditation plan by Pete Namlook is the icing on this cake... Pete, may he rest in peace, touches the soul with the repetitive ingredient this time, after listening to the Air and Silence series you might be surprised that Namlook created this style of music for us. Just follow your dream now... Very subtle... the radio starts making sounds... a living radio built of human components; meet Radio Free Clear Light. Poetry, graphic art, video editing, music or a combination of it all. RFCL has a focus on Form rather than content. Three tracks in a row and you still have the feeling that you didn’t move right? You didn’t. We’re traveling without moving. Michael Frenkel’s project Aspectee shines a light on the unknown. Bail a Cerder creates the floating phase, intense tranparent and organic at the same time, hypnotizing experiences at the 46 minutes mark of this episode. The atmospheric drone soundscapes that arise now, are made by Shane Morris and Mystified, two very talented composers of ambient-atmospherics. This part comes from the Epoch album, the first installment of a trilogy about prehistoric time and evolution. Epoch uses no electronic sources or synths - only acoustic sounds. The sonic portal to our last artist on this trip. CSillagköd is a project by Oliver Dombi, a producer from Transylvania. Born on Christmas evening in 1981. He releases music since 2006, various styles, various projects. This album ‘Silent World’ has only but the best ambient and just-be tracks for you. Where are you? The Lucid Dream series take you anywhere... Spacemusic 8.8 Lucid Dreams 5.
