A conti fatti.

"They interviewed more than 6,000 American parents and their children from ages eight to thirteen. They wanted to identify what the perception and realities were of the parents' use of technology. It is important to know that about one-third of the children said that their parents spent equal or less time with them than in using their devices. Over half of the children felt that their parents check their devices too often and complained that their parents allow themselves to be distracted by the devices during conversation, something that made a third of them feel unimportant. Many parents too, when asked about their device usage, agreed that it was too frequent and many parents also worried about how this looked to the younger generation. Almost a third concluded that they did not set a good example for their children with their internet devices."    Episode Description: We begin by distinguishing adult addiction to pornography from the situation of childhood overstimulation. Central to the child's experience of being able to psychically metabolize pornographic images is the presence of an adult who is able to recognize "the importance of his presence for the child, the value of their mutual contact so that they can together confront difficult questions and dilemmas." Indeed, Franco and Andrea define the traumatic aspect of pornography for children to be the lack of contact with an object, "a lack that renders impossible the working through of the [pornographic] solicitations." We discuss the three models that characterize parents' rule setting for their children - digital orphans, exiles and heirs - and we also address the meaning to the children of their parents' own dissociative over-involvement in screen watching. They end on an optimistic note finding that "we can view technological experiences as an opportunity to elaborate and construct shared meanings."   Our Guests:   Franco D'Alberton, Ph.D. is a psychologist and child and adolescent psychoanalyst, full member and training analyst of the Italian Psychoanalytic Society (SPI/IPA). He worked in NHS services first as a psychologist in the field of child mental health then as consultant in Psychology at the Pediatric Department of S.Orsola University Hospital in Bologna (Italy). The cover for issue 31 of Oncotarget features Figure 4, "Concentration dose-response curves of sirolimus effect [55 nM–1 nM] on the number of cells per surviving colony in U2OS cell line after 2 weeks exposure," by Vasuri, et al. which reported that the authors evaluated the long-term effects of sirolimus on three different cell in vitro models, cultured in physiological conditions mimicking sirolimus-eluted stent, in order to clarify the effectiveness of sirolimus in blocking cell proliferation and survival. Three cell lines were selected and growth in 10 ml of Minimum Essential Medium for 5 weeks with serial dilutions of sirolimus. The number of colonies and the number of cells per colony were counted. As a result, the number of WPMY-1 surviving colonies increased in a dose-dependent manner when treated with sirolimus, while the number of U2OS colonies progressively decreased. In conclusion sirolimus showed the well-known cytostatic effect, but with an effect on clonogenic potential different among the different cell types. Dr. Gianandrea Pasquinelli from The Bologna University said, "Rapamycin (sirolimus) is a widely used cytostatic drug blocking the cell cycle in the phase G1/S through the inhibition of the mammalian target of Rapamycin (mTOR) pathway, that has found several clinical applications, from immunosuppression in diabetes and organ transplantation to cancer therapy and drug-eluting stents (DES)" Beside to its cytostatic activity, sirolimus was also discovered to protect normal human oral keratinocytes from apoptosis by activating autophagy, and to act as a basal stem cell keratinocyte-protecting drug in irradiated mice. The effect of sirolimus on mesenchymal cells is unknown, but it is an important issue, since mesenchymal cells such as myofibroblasts and cells promoting vascular calcification play an important role in atherogenesis and vascular restenosis. Sirolimus seems to block the proliferation and the migration of vascular smooth muscle cells, but we lack information concerning the effects on other cells composing atherosclerotic plaques. The aim of the present paper is to evaluate the long-term effects of sirolimus, rather than short-term cell survival, on three different cell in vitro models, cultured in Minimum Essential Medium, which simulates physiological conditions (w/o CO2 and glucose, in order to clarify the effectiveness of sirolimus in blocking cell proliferation and survival. The Pasquinelli Research Team concluded in their Oncotarget Research Paper that the plaque typology and the different cell composition of the plaque, e. g., the presence of inflammatory cells, angiogenesis, prevalence of fibrosis, presence of osteogenic progenitors, may influence the response to sirolimus. Moreover, it is known that the clonal capacity varies between cells and we should consider this matter when evaluating the effectiveness of eluted stent. Finally, additional mechanisms can have a role, such as amitotic cell division. These mechanisms were also observed in human atherogenesis and could be fundamental to evaluate the in vivo effect of sirolimus too. Today we got an amazing special for our listeners. Martin Patiño & Enzo Elia recorded their mix at Stereo Bar Stuttgart on 17th April 2011 for the Weekend Warrior-Podcast... so, enjoy this really, really hot show!!! Martin Patiño: Coming from the cradle of Italian house, a new generation of beat makers is taking their own unique set of digitally immersed excellence to the clubs and to the streets. At the forefront of these pioneers of spoon fed sound experts is Martin Patino, whose Italian background has in no way overpowered his intense passion for exploring his Peruvian roots. Whereas others would have been more tentative about their abilities, Patino entered the scene with every intention of making his presence known, diving directly to the forefront of the European house music scene starting from collaborations with Enzo Elia and proving his unstoppable potential with the decadent club triumph Sunrise in La Serena (an exquisite mix of sumptuous house rhythms entwined dripping with soulful latin percussion). It was not long before Patino, suitably relocated to Berlin, followed with a solid stream of refined productions demonstrating his range and unmistakable skill including remixes of some of Berlin’s top artists (Oliver Koletzki founder of Stil Vor Talent and Florian Meindl of FLASH). By the time Patino’s SOMBRAS EP was released, the artist had already caught the attention of some of house giants across the globe, forming alliance’s with Florian Meindl’s FLASH, Jimpster’s FREERANGE, and Schlomi Aber’s BE AS ONE labels, with sultry sounds made to melt the speakers off of some of world’s top clubs. more infos about Martin Patiño on the following sites: beatport.com > search for Martin Patiño facebook.com/martinpatinomusic residentadvisor.net/dj/martinpatino twitter.com/Martin_Patino facebook.com/pages/Martin-Patino/11335 myspace.com/francescospaggiariakamartinpatio lastfm.it/music/Martin+Patino lion1music.bandcamp.com/album/nil Enzo Elia: Enzo Elia born in Italy. At aged 13 he discovered the world of the music, starting to buy vynils and collect them. He didn’t like football, he prefered spend time putting music on the radio and connecting with people, jumping between Record’s stores, searching the best music of the moment. He has always played only vinyls because, for him music has important value also for remember. "An old vinyl recalls always something" he likes say, and "I love the sound of turntable".. He grew up playing his room with the rhythm of Motown and Italo Disco and then he has felt in love with House Music and Techno Detroit. Some records that he bought, edited by great labels as Dj International, Underground Resistence, Strictly Rhythm, Chicago Trax are a must even now in his vinyl’s bag. He has became even more a vinyl’s searcher and collector, because he always has thinking that in our age of fast communication has no value what is produced in the immediate but what could remains in collective memory... [The degree of slowness is directly proportional to the intensity of memory, (Milan Kundera, Slowness)].. He also studied music at the Department of Music, at Bologna University of art. In this context he started to play always more and more and has got in touch with most important dj’s of italian stage...Since 2004 he started to produce his own music, keeping on a full collaboration with Hell Yeah and Youngodds , labels which for he has realease several work.
