Hello everyone and we are back for another edition of Interviewing the Legends… I'm your host Ray Shasho. UK Progressive Rock group Solstice announce 8th studio album, Clann due on April 4th, 2025. New single "Firefly" out now! Voted Best Band in Prog magazine's latest annual Reader's Poll. BIO: Voted Best Band in Prog magazine's latest annual Reader's Poll, and arriving on an exuberant wave of positivity created by previous albums Sia (2020) and Light Up (2022), both widely acclaimed within the prog community and beyond, Clann completes the most recent phase of Solstice's 40-plus year career. As band founder, composer, and guitarist (winner of Prog magazine's most recent Best Guitarist Prog Award) Andy Glass explains, “[Sia] made me realize the potential and by the time we were working on Light Up the whole band had raised its game. I believed then that a trilogy of albums was what it would take to create our best work and track that journey. Clann is the final album in the Sia Trilogy and it's everything I'd hoped it would be. Let's hope the universe likes it too.” Clann manages to cover a great deal of musical ground in its nearly 40-minute running time. Solstice will be supporting the release of Clann with a strings of live dates including festival appearances in the UK, Europe and north America. The band's live work has been fundamental to their growing popularity with a wide audience demographic. AIB will sponsor the All-Ireland club football championships for the next four years, joining all four Gaelic Games codes together under one sponsorship for the first time. The news comes on the week that the Galleon Restaurant Galway senior club LGFA semi-finals take place. 12-in-a-row chasing Kilkerrin/Clonberne clash with Senior B winners Salthill/Knocknacarra, with Claregalway and Corofin going up against each other. Both games are on Sunday (22nd September 2024) with details to be confirmed. Kilkerrin/Clonberne will be favourites to continue their unbeaten streak, going back to 2019, intact as the 2022 All-Ireland Junior champions. To chat about the AIB announcement, and look ahead to the county semi-final, Galway attacker Olivia Divilly caught up with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly. == The 'Over The Line' weekend preview show with Darren Kelly broadcasts every Friday evening from 7pm on Galway Bay FM. == AIB today (17th September) announced a landmark sponsorship agreement with the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA), becoming the title sponsor of the coveted All-Ireland Club Championships. This historic partnership marks the first time a single sponsor has united all four codes of Gaelic Games – Gaelic Football, Hurling, Camogie, and Ladies Football – under one banner. To celebrate this momentous occasion, AIB was joined by LGFA stars Olivia Divilly of reigning Senior Club Champions Kilkerrin-Clonberne (Galway), Niamh Hetherton of Clontarf and multi-All-Ireland winner with Dublin LGFA, Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh of Corca Dhuibhne and 2024 All Ireland winner with Kerry LGFA, and Clodagh McCambridge of Clann Éireann (Armagh), current Ulster LGFA Club Champions. Speaking at the announcement, AIB Chief Executive Officer, Colin Hunt said: “At AIB, we understand that gaelic games are more than just games – they're the lifeblood of communities across Ireland. We've been proud supporters of the GAA for decades, and today marks a truly historic moment as we become the first-ever sponsor to unite all four codes under one banner. This partnership with the LGFA is a special one, we're inspired by the dedication of the players, the passion of the volunteers, and the unwavering support of fans that make the Club Championships so unique. We're proud to stand alongside the LGFA and help support the next chapter in the incredible story of Ladies Football in clubs nationwide." This multi-year agreement sees AIB extend its already comprehensive commitment to the most coveted trophies in Gaelic Games, across all four codes, and contested by over 2,200 clubs nationwide. AIB adds the All-Ireland Ladies Club Football Championships to its sponsorship portfolio, as it enters its 34th year with the men's football and hurling championships and its 12th year with the Camogie Club Championships. Through its #TheToughest campaign, AIB will shine a spotlight on these inspiring stories at the heart of communities nationwide. Speaking at the announcement, Uachtarán Cumann Peil Gael na mBan, Mícheál Naughton said: "We are absolutely delighted to welcome AIB on board as sponsors of the All-Ireland Ladies Club Football Championships. They have a long and admirable history of supporting club championships across the other codes, and we know they share our deep passion for Gaelic Games. We're excited to work together to showcase the incredible skill, dedication, and community spirit that define our club championships and inspire the next generation of LGFA players.” For exclusive content and behind the scenes action from the AIB Camogie and GAA Club Championships follow @AIB_GAA on Twitter and Instagram, on Facebook at www.facebook.com/AIBGAA and www.aib.ie/gaa. #TheToughest

The legend continues... this week, we're proceeding north to Scotland for Book 2 of Isle of the Mighty. There's more of the same in terms of bizarre history section content management, NPCs who are intriguing and forgettable in equal measure, and a geography chapter that is surprisingly good! Even though in the balance, this section probably leaves more questions unanswered than we had when we started, there are some moments of true enjoyment scattered through. (Lookin' at you, Loch Lads.) It's heavier on the vignettes and side fiction than England was—but we'll take it in exchange for how the book completely skips over some of the country's more important centuries, in favor of talking about random changeling feuds that have no bearing on the game. A little of this, a little of that. the usual suspects Herewith our social media links for the podcast: Discord: https://discord.gg/SAryjXGm5jEmail: podcast@changelingthepodcast.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100082973960699Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/changelingthepodcastTwitter: https://twitter.com/changelingcast This might be the last time we include Twitter on the list, at least for a while. Some are listed and discussed at the end of the recording, and others fall into the "damn, should've mentioned that one too" category. We trust once more that you've enough Films: Brave, Braveheart, Highlander (but not the sequel, eesh), Loch Ness, Macbeth (several versions), The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Rob Roy, Trainspotting (and okay, why not the sequel), The Wicker Man...TV: Gargoyles (partially), Monarch of the Glen, Outlander... Literature: the poems of Robert Burns and Carol Ann Duffy, Knots and Crosses, Lanark, Diana Gabaldon's Outlander novels (on which the TV show is based), Trainspotting (the novel), The Wasp Factory (content warning!), Witch Wood...Music: Albannach, Bannal, Capercaillie, Clann an Drumma, Mouth Music, The Proclaimers (although "I'm Gonna Be" was likely a Banality trigger for a while back in the day), Silly Wizard, Tannahill Weavers, The Waterboys, Wolfstone... One exception to the "go find it yourself" rule is this album of waulking songs by Bannal, who are decidedly un-Banal. It's a group of ladies making cloth in the traditional Highland way, accompanied by the old melodies and versifications that have a distinctive and beautiful sound. Today on Moments of Clarity, I am speaking to two guests, Liam and Amanda McFadden. Liam and Amanda are a husband and wife team that have recently started their own business and social enterprise, Clann. Clann's Social Enterprise Mission is to support communities by empowering families to receive or provide quality ‘Life. Be in it.’™ FamilyCare for children, the elderly and people with a disability. They provide information, up-skilling induction programs, pathways to higher qualifications and micro business employment opportunities putting people before profit, effectively re-villaging our society where families care for families again. Life. Be in it. FamilyCare works with individuals, families and communities to increase wellbeing, build strengths and encourage optimism for a better life. Clann began in Victoria supporting informal family carers to set-up new micro businesses starting with family care for children where the focus is on providing more flexible quality care, building better brains and healthy bodies. They expanded to include non-clinical family care for the elderly and those with a disability in November 2020 nationally. In the long history of Irish electoral upsets, General Election 2020 will certainly feature, but could anything match the story of Clann na Poblachta? Created by Séan MacBride, a former Chief of Staff of the IRA and later founder of Amnesty International, the party took ten seats in the chaotic 1948 General Election, coming to hold the balance of power and to topple what many people thought would never fall - Fianna Fáil. What would emerge, the state’s first inter-party government, was a volatile experiment - so what are the lessons to be learned today in the story of Clann na Poblachta, who were subsequently wiped out electorally and who never returned to government? Donal Fallon spoke to Gavan about this important moment in Irish political history.
