Meet Georgina and Rebecca, the Antarctic Fire Angels. In January 2024 they pioneered a new route across the Antarctic while skiing unsupported from Union Glacier to the South Pole. The journey took 52 days, 10 hours and 30 minutes.Four years ago Georgina and Rebecca didn't know each other but they were at the same National Fire Service Conference. That year Sophie Montagne gave the keynote speech. Sophie is the world record holder for Ice Maiden, the first female team to ski across the Antarctic.A five minute conversation with Sophie after the speech was the beginning of what was to become an incredible friendship between Georgina and Rebecca that led on to them completing this epic 1230km journey across the coldest place on earth.Hold your breath while you learn about the terrifying noise of ice crevasses, the silence that can exist in the Antarctic and what it is like to be engulfed in a white-out. What is it like to experience temperatures of minus 41 degrees? climb altitudes of over 4000 metres? And try to keep up with an 8000 calories a day schedule to stay alive. They are now building the Fire Angel Foundation, which will see female fire cadets and girl guides embark on a three month program. This program will culminate in a mini expedition to Sweden where they will build self esteem, confidence and learn to support each other during times of adversity. Not only are Georgina and Rebecca championing incredibly feats of human stamina and endurance but they are truly champions of change for women and girls, carving out a wide and deep path to facilitate that. From start to finish this is an inspiring podcast. It is a story of the human spirit, mental strength and the strength of most importantly a story of friendship. If you would like to learn more about The Antarctic Fire Angels you can find them here:https://antarcticfireangels.co.uk/X - @antarctic_fireInstagram - antarcticfireangelsYou can find their documentary on ITVX - 'Fire & Ice: The Antarctic Fire Angels' https://www.itv.com/walesprogrammes/articles/fire-and-ice-the-antarctic-fire-angelsTheir next adventure is called ‘777', seven marathons, 7 continents in 7 days. On Sunday, we took a short break from our series in James as we welcomed our friend, Phil Knox, to speak into the life of our church. Phil is an evangelist, missiologist and author of the book, The Best of Friends; unpacking the necessity and importance of friendship within our discipleship. He reminded us of Christ-like friendship that is Sacrificial, Intentional & Invitational.John 15:5-17

After David's great victory over the giant named Goliath, David and Jonathan become great friends. Their friendship is a model for biblical friendships. God knew that David was going to need a friend like Jonathan because he was going to go from obscure shepherd boy to a national hero.

This is an aptly titled one because this one is with a sisplease OG who happens to be one of my bestiesss and we just have a lot of fun catching up, chatting shit and reusing old tips of the day, oops. We tried but failed (woefully) to make a name for the displease fanbase then we talk about spinning the block, how everyone has a block that will forever be spun. Ladun talks about the 70:30 rule of casual sex, and it is an exact science. I think you will love it, I love you for listening! Last week, we brought you the first installment of Casi Pogue's story. You learned about Casi's life, struggles, and how she disappeared after leaving a hospital in Greenville, South Carolina, on July 5, 2020. Casi was spotted exiting the facility that evening and speaking to someone in a van. She even entered the van for a few minutes but then got out and left the area alone on foot. Who was that man in the vehicle? You heard last week that the police were never able to identify him. But Casi's family told us that after she disappeared, their suspicions began to shift elsewhere, to someone close to Casi.If you have any information regarding the disappearance of Casi Pogue, please contact the Greenville Police Department at (864) 271-5333. How do you explain ADHD to your child? Start with the Journey with Me Through ADHD, a podcast for kids. Katelyn's humongous heart for helping kids understand their ADHD is contagious! She knows just how to explain tough or complicated stuff in a digestible manner so kids can feel confident and empowered. Katelyn speaks straight into the heart and mind of kids with ADHD. Helping them learn and understand the way their brain is wired differently and come up with tools and strategies that work best for them. Her podcast is a great conversation tool for trusted adults to use as you navigate this diagnosis alongside your child. In this episode, Katelyn Mabry and I chat about Practice Makes Progress Not Perfect: ADHD and Perfectionism on her podcast, Journey With Me Through ADHD, where Katelyn helps educate, empower, and encourage kids with ADHD and their families to understand their unique minds and discover tools and strategies that will help them thrive day by day. All this while gaining confidence in who they were created to be! "Practice makes perfect" has always been a phrase that drives me bonkers because it's just not true!!! NO ONE is or ever will be perfect! We all make mistakes and then are faced with the choice of how to respond to our mistakes! Who else here struggles with perfectionism? You may even have it and you don't even realize it's a struggle! Often times, kids are asked to "try harder" or are told that they are making "careless mistakes" and over time, this can lead to becoming a perfectionist because of fear of failure or simply not wanting to make a mistake and upset someone. In this episode, you will hear from Patricia Sung, who has ADHD like we do and she is on a mission to help other mamas with ADHD through her podcast titled, "Motherhood in ADHD." You may be wondering why she's on a podcast for kids with ADHD and the answer is simple...she was a teacher for 7 years to kids from grade 4th-7th and has a passion for sharing her own journey through childhood with ADHD. One of her biggest challenges has been battling being a perfectionist. She shares about the kind of armor she found helpful as an ADHD warrior and uses a great visual of becoming a scientist as we face new things! Have you ever hated your own child? While you may not want to say it out loud, sometimes parenting is just. so. hard. that this burning hatred overtakes you in a fiery blaze. And when your child is extra… extra needy, extra sensitive, extra different, extra angry, extra aggressive, extra anything, the usual parenting advice doesn't work. Maybe you feel like a failure or a terrible mom. Meet Megan Champion, who started her podcast as a “regular mom” who needed to know she was not alone struggling to parent her out-of-the-box child. So she shares stories from other “regular” parents, who are navigating out-of-the-box kids. Megan's vulnerability and openness is refreshing in a world of glossy Instagram photos. When you've got PMS on steroids, the rage and depression are exponential. Ever hear of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder? They call it PMDD for short, and it's a very real and serious hormonal disorder that affects up to 10% of women! And it's much more common when paired with ADHD. Symptoms include things like mood swings (aka rage attacks), sadness, anxiety, hopelessness, depression, and even severe panic attacks. Many women with PMDD are either extremely tired or have bouts of insomnia. And then there's excessive crying and other emotional swings. Not to mention all the bloating, gastro issues, food cravings, and possible weight gain. Phew. I need a nap after writing that alone! Today my guest Heidi and I unpack what PMDD is, the symptoms of PMDD, how PMDD can be linked to postpartum issues, and how to talk to your doctor about getting a diagnosis. If you've been following along in 2022, we've talked a lot about menstrual health, hormones, and cycle syncing. We've uncovered numerous ways our menstrual cycle relates to ADHD symptoms in women. It's fascinating and disturbing at the same time. But there is hope, Successful Mama! Heidi Hogarth is a naturopath, a mom of two, and a PMDD survivor. She's on a mission to support women who suffer from PMDD and help them find the best natural health tools so they can get off the hormonal emotional rollercoasters & back to their calm, positive, and loving selves. She's a wealth of knowledge when it comes to understanding symptoms of PMDD. She offers insight into what supplements and dietary changes can help you when you feel like you are suffering from PMDD. A big thank you to Heidi for helping women understand their bodies so they can do what they can to live a happy and healthy life. When was the last time your ADHD affected your kids and you were kicking yourself for it? While you get frustrated enough that your ADHD affects your own life, it's 100 times worse when it hurts your kids. Meet my friend, Laura Froyen, PhD. Laura and I connected over our mutual love for advocating for kids. Her take on gentle parenting is refreshing and doable. In this episode, Laura and I chat about how to deal with ADHD as a mom on her podcast, The Balanced Parent Podcast, where she helps families connect more deeply and authentically. Laura writes: ADHD is getting a lot of buzz out there in the world recently, and many adults, especially women (who as girls perhaps had their symptoms overlooked) are getting diagnosed, sometimes alongside their kids. I've spoken to quite a few of you who have gone through this process and so many of you have expressed initial feelings of relief, that there is a real, true reason that things have always seemed a bit harder for you, and it's not because you're a failure, you're just wired a bit differently. But after that relief there tends to be a feeling of... "Ok, what now?" So, if you're newly diagnosed with ADHD , or even if you have some suspicions that this may be going on for you or your kids, this episode is for you! I have brought in a friend and a colleague, Patricia Sung, who is an ADHD expert and the host of the Motherhood in ADHD podcast. She helps moms with ADHD get themselves together one step at a time and feel confident in running their family life. After years of serial entrepreneurship and teaching middle school, she has a uniquely practical perspective on strategies for building a life that works when your brain is different. Whether you have it yourself and it complicates your life or if you're noticing it in your kids, Patricia will help us figure out how to make things a little bit easier for you. Here's what we talked about: Learn about your (or your child's) brain and how your ADHD affects you (or your child) Recognizing you need help and finding the right person (therapist/coach) Common symptoms of ADHD that we need to look out for How ADHD affects your motherhood Strategies to help overwhelmed moms Be sure to subscribe to The Balanced Parent Podcast! In this podventure, we discuss the episode “The Very Best of Friends,” in which Donna is forced to face her grief over Karen's passing as the fall festival draws nearer and Jimmy puts on a silly little play with Oscar. Also, British culture in American schools, gender in the theater, and some hard-hitting discussion questions about death. There were kids playing Shakespeare in this episode.
Do you feel like motherhood's been kind of a raw deal? Meet my friend Kelly Donahue, founder of Badass Moms. Kelly and I were in the same Integrative Life Coach certification course and I fell in love with her spunky spirit and gentle tough love. She just launched her podcast earlier this year, talking to women who found their fun and let go of the impossible “selfless mother” standard we were raised with. If you're ready to ask for what you want, have more fun, and dismantle internalized patriarchy, this show is for you. In this episode, Kelly and I chat about how much I hate sticker charts when they turn into shame highlighters, and how I can't stand imaginative play with my kids on her podcast, Badass Moms. “Why didn't anyone tell me that years ago?!?” Perhaps you've asked that question at least 542 times along your ADHD journey. IYKYK Sarah Snyder and I met a while back and immediately hit it off in chatting about the nitty gritty of ADHD - all those lesser known symptoms, connections, and themes around ADHD. You know, all the things about your ADHD you wish someone had told you years ago. I first joined her on her podcast, Adulting with ADHD, a few years back to talk about pregnancy and ADHD. With the tagline "Self-empowerment for people with ADHD", The Adulting With ADHD Podcast explores the intersection of ADHD, hormones, trauma, food, and more. Sarah aims to provide information for ADHD adults that's probably not in the brochure at the doctor's office. Sarah and I chat about the intersection of chronic illness and food. Sarah shares: In this episode, I chat with Patricia Sung, host of Motherhood in ADHD, about the intersection of chronic illness, eating and ADHD. Highlights: - Patricia's story - The food and stress connection - What NOT to do when you're struggling with food, chronic illness & ADHD - What you CAN do instead The intersection of autoimmune diseases, food allergies and food intolerances with ADHD is one of my current hyperfixations, and this episode brings you a taste of what I've learned over the past 3 years of eating a highly restricted elimination diet in the treatment and remission of my psoriatic arthritis, mold toxicity, and fight against autoimmune issues and inflammation. Did the elimination diet of no sugar, gluten, dairy, soy, eggs, dyes, processed foods, etc., cure my ADHD? Listen in! Be sure to subscribe to the Adulting with ADHD Podcast. In 1988, a 15-year-old Kamila Shamsie stayed up all night to watch Pakistan elect its first woman prime minister. Years later, and politics is still very much at the centre of the writer's life – on and off the page. The Pakistani / British writer has long been a vocal critic of the UK government's immigration and civil rights policies, and yet she only felt able to write Home Fire – which offers a piercing critique of Islamophobia within the British political establishment – after she became a citizen of the country. Today on Ways to Change the World, Kamila Shamsie joins Krishnan Guru-Murthy to discuss her Pakistani upbringing, how politics shaped her writing and her view of Suella Braverman's ‘racist' immigration policy. Produced by Silvia Maresca and Alice Wagstaffe

What does your ADHD look like? Does it look like impulsiveness, hyperactivity and the irresistible urge to fidget – the signs we constantly hear about in men and boys? Or does it look more like forgetting to put on deodorant or brush your teeth, trouble keeping track of all your kid's appointments, absent-mindedly twirling your hair, or excessive talking when you get excited? (If you've ever gotten “talks too much” on your report card as a kid, you know what I mean!) ADHD can look different in women – and just because you don't have the “classic” signs, doesn't mean you don't have ADHD. In this episode of Motherhood in ADHD, Dr. Sasha Hamdani, a board-certified psychiatrist and ADHD specialist, shares about the symptoms of ADHD in women, and SO much more, including: *Dr. Sasha's own diagnosis story, and her experience as a mom with ADHD *ADHD diagnosis in children: how to talk to your kids about their diagnosis in a non-judgmental and supportive way *When it's time to seek professional help for your ADHD symptoms *ADHD and hormones: how your cycle affects your symptoms *Self-care tips for the emotional side of ADHD *The benefits of partnering with an ADHD specialist, and how to find the right professional *How to speak to your loved ones about your ADHD, while clarifying it's an explanation and not an excuse *Answers to all YOUR burning questions that you shared in our Motherhood in ADHD private Facebook group (P.S. You should join if you haven't yet!) BIG thanks to Dr. Sasha Hamdani for sharing your wisdom and expertise with us! All I ever wanted, all I ever needed was the scene where Damon dances on the ledge of the second floor of the Salvatore House. After he and Vicki party, Damon snaps her neck, and she starts to transition. Meanwhile, Stefan finally tells Elena some of the truth (of course not all of it, this is Stefan after all), and we meet Katherine for the first time in the 1864 flashbacks. Oh, while this is all going down, Sheriff Forbes arms Logan Fell with the compass and wooden ammo and sends him on the hunt for a vampire. This week: Season 1 Episode 6 | Lost Girls Hosted on Acast. You grow up together. You're essentially siblings. Her parents are considered your parents. Your parents may as well be her parents. You're best friends from grade school to high school. Then, you begin your college journey together. Memories created and celebrated. Many take place at one specific address. The address you moved from to prepare for your next journey. The first part of your journey doesn't include your best friend. So. One weekend you choose to head back for a visit to that address. To celebrate what is to come with that very best friend. The very best friend who, like you, would be a part of yet another memory. Only this time, this memory is not one to ever be celebrated. This is the story of true best friends. Kristyn is joined by two close friends, Alice and Lauren, who share what it was like to support their friends through a difficult prognosis. They discuss how this experience has shaped their approach to inclusive parenting and the challenges they anticipate facing as their children continue to grow up together. They also provide some insightful advice to other friends and family members who may find themselves trying to show support from the sidelines. And finally, Kristyn shares a heartfelt letter to her friends, one that I think will resonate with many parents of children with rare diseases and disabilities.
