She is also a PSIC Level 4 LPT trainer which means that Tracey is certified to train ski instructors at the very highest level.Tracey shares how we can build self-reflection seamlessly into our day, how we can use it and what it can teach us.Key TakeawaysHow can we use self-reflection on a personal level effectivelyAdopt a Growth Mindset: This means approaching situations from the perspective that you want to know how to make them even better in the future, regardless of how well it did or did not go.Make Time to Reflect: This can include stepping away from others to think about what just happened, making time to ask other people for feedback or taking time at the end of the day to analyze high and low points.Be Curious with Yourself: This can include asking yourself if there is anything you would want to do differently, asking what went well, what were the challenge points, and what did not go well.Look for Patterns or Tendencies: We all have ways of doing things that could be problematic and may not be effective. These can include cognitive biases that can compromise our decision making. It can also include flaws in our systems and ways of doing things. Addressing negative patterns is an essential step to improvement.Embrace Being Vulnerable: It is okay to admit that there is room for you to do things better or to improve. Being vulnerable is not a weakness, it is a strength that you hear in most of our guests.Be Objective: To do this we have to focus on the facts by being non-judgemental. Is the Crown Square rolling story finally over? Galway City Council will hope so. They quite emphatically put their colours to the mast over monetary evaluations over remaining in city hall and the move out to Mervue pointing out that their valuations show the move is justified. Only two councillors voted against the move and (similarly to the original vote on the move to Crown Square) asked for more time on information on the 60 million euro loan which will be made in repayments over three decades. Some questions still remain. The breakdown of the costs involved for one. These may be subject to commercial sensitivities but no doubt they will be followed up on by politicians and journalists alike. The Department still has to give the go ahead. But also there is the question of loan repayments. At over 3 million euro a year will the taxpayers of the city be expected to foot the bill? It will make Commercial Rates and LPT changes into the future very interesting. Endometriosis care was brought to the forefront in the Dáil this week. Sinn Féin brought forward a motion following on from engagement with women suffering with the condition via the means of a survey. While the Government didn't back the measures brought forward by the main opposition party (standard practice) it certainly has brought the need for a look at this aspect of women's healthcare in the spotlight once again. On Galway Talks we have covered the topic regularly on the programme in recent years, with one contributor raising money to fund treatment abroad. Galway advocate Katie Coughlan spoke of her lived experience while Sinn Féin TD Mairead Farrell gave her party's stance on the best way to provide treatment for those impacted by endometriosis. Galway sadly lost a legend of the music scene this week. Shantalla native Bernard ‘Mack' McNamara passed away and his passing was met by an outpouring of emotion and tributes. We were joined on the programme by the Mayor of Galway City Mike Cubbard and Gary Monroe of Monroe's to pay respects to one of the King's of Music in Galway. One of the benefits of being in business so long is that you learn to take the so-called “failures” as part of the process. But that doesn't mean you don't get disappointed. That feeling you get when you've worked hard and something doesn't go as planned or the way you hoped it would. This is when the little kid in you who didn't get picked for the team or get invited somewhere shows up again. The difference now is that you're not that child… you're the adult who chose to be an entrepreneur. Knowing full well that things not going as planned is simply part of the process. It's what you do with those feelings and results (because no matter how something turned out, you've got some data to work with. That's the beauty of an online business). I'm going to share a bit of what I've been through this past week, how I've handled it and am still handling it, and how it's leading to the birth of something new. When Disappointment Leads to ClarityI'm pretty transparent about most things in my life and business. The more I share, the more people connect with me. I also don't have the energy to be something I'm not or pretend for the sake of appearances or feeding my ego. I recently launched something that didn't go as I hoped. My initial feeling was a massive disappointment because I'd worked super hard to get to that point (this was a completely revamped version of Email Insiders, which went from a two-month cohort to a 6-month group coaching program). A few months back I shared that I had made a significant investment in my business by signing up for a program and said I'd share more about that later. Well, it's later.
