In the second episode of Backstage Pass Season 2, we continue our conversation with Tony and Pulitzer Prize Award Winner Michael R. Jackson (A Strange Loop) and Anna K Jacobs (POP!) about their musical Teeth. We also play a game we designed just for these writers, where we decide which musical theatre characters should be armed with vagina dentata. "Teeth" is a musical that follows Dawn O'Keefe, a charismatic leader of a Christian youth group called the Promise Keeper Girls, who grapples with her own sexual desires while suppressing them due to her strict religious upbringing; when violated, she discovers a shocking secret power where her body physically fights back against sexual assault, essentially giving her "teeth" against her attackers; the show explores themes of religious oppression, female sexuality, and bodily autonomy, based on the cult film of the same name, with music by Anna K. Jacobs and lyrics by Michael R. Jackson. This episode features the songs “It's Always the Woman” performed by Alyse Alan Louis and “Dentata” performed by the cast of Teeth. Content Warning: Rape/ sexual assault, religious trauma, purity culture, castration, explicit discussion of sexual topics. It's crazy what purity culture (and some genetic mutation) does to a mf. In this episode, Dex and Summer discuss the 2007 cult horror Teeth, about a high school girl who realizes she has a terrifying (but pretty helpful) adaptation. Let's explore some genital horror and analyze this narrative as a coming of age story, a rape revenge story, and a modern interpretation of a classic Greek myth. We'll share our thoughts on purity culture and agency and why this terrible movie is so compelling to a generation of people who grew up in a sex-negative age. Get ready to get up close and personal with some teeth. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Episode 2: Teeth (Lichtenstein, 2007) Dentata...it's Latin for teeth... Dawn is a devout member of her high school abstinence club until she meets Tobey. When a romantic encounter turns violent, Dawn learns that there's more to her than meets the eye and sets off on a journey of self discovery, with plenty of castration along the way. Join hosts Clelia McElroy and Megan Kenny as they discuss fanged vaginas, purity culture, misogyny and comedy-horror. Beware, spoilers abound! ----------------------------------- SEGUICI SU: - Web Page: https://www.nippop.it - Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nippopbologna - Twitter: https://twitter.com/NipPopOfficial - Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nippopofficial - YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/nippopbologna

Pantychrist. Got your attention? Good, because here we have Dana Dentata - a musician and visionary like no other. We welcome the Toronto-born, LA-based immersive artist onto IUF to discuss her notable and storied career. From growing up listening to pop, rap, and nu-metal - to modeling, to dancing, and to rocking the guitar in her own punk band – this is an episode for the books, and then some. One of the main focal points here is her new debut solo album “Pantychrist,” which takes shock-rock and horrorcore to a whole new level while combining these thematics with sounds of hip-hop, industrial metal, and rap. And that's just what's on the surface. Dana has been through hell and back and we take a deeper perspective on her experiences that have shaped her into who she is today. Creating music to make other women feel free and supported is something she takes to heart, and with how this world has been shaping up to be in modern days, there couldn't have been a more fitting timeframe to drop the new album. From themes, to songwriting, to her personal struggles and fight, to wisdom – this album is a pure and raw representation and testament to everything Dana has worked up to this point. “Dentata” is also translated as vagina dentata, which means teeth. No filters needed here, and it seems as if she's just getting started with a new chapter. In the final segment of this episode, she holds nothing back as we discuss the impact of the newest abortion bill in Texas and the way it has gripped and horribly affected millions of women (and men) from an emotional and physical standpoint. Dana tells her story of perseverance, and as a survivor, it has been an inspiration to thousands around the world. This only adds fuel to her fire. Daddy is here; Tune in now and be sure to buy and stream Dana Dentata's debut solo record, “Pantychrist,” out now everywhere via Roadrunner Records. Just don't forget to turn the volume up to 11.Stay connected with Dana Dentata, visit: https://www.danadentata.com/, https://www.instagram.com/danadentata/, and https://www.facebook.com/danadentata/Stay connected with IUF, visit: https://interviewunderfire.com/
Dana Dentata shares her history as a music fan in this episode of "Fan First." Dana grew up obsessed by the incendiary Woodstock '99 concert, connected with Britney Spears' stage presence and Fred Durst's aggression early on, found her power in her heavy metal band Dentata that violently burst onto the stage in Toronto's firing music scene, shares her Musical Mount Rushmore, goes deep on the spiritual awakening/breakdown that inspired the confronting and savage "Apology," explains how she's transformed trauma into art and why raw rock and roll must always come from true adversity. Roadrunner Records' first solo female artist is a diehard, lifelong fan.

The first solo female artist to sign to Roadrunner Records discusses mentorship with Kanye West, her unashamed sexuality, and how provocative performance art helped her to purge the weight of real life toxicity.
Dana Dentata's story is a real roller coaster ride. After becoming a model at age 14, her journey has been filled with seedy men, shady scenes, and lots of demons. Those demons were a signature part of her visual aesthetic to this point, but she's recently brightened her outlook after signing to legendary metal label Roadrunner Records and, through therapy, learning about her dissociative disorder. From close encounters with Jeffrey Epstein, to being the face of American Apparel, and eventually being mentored by Kanye West, Dana has stories for days and experiences that run the gamut. Hear us talk about starting an all-girl band in her teens, dissociating from traumatic experiences, and losing a modeling competition thrown by Jeffery Epstein. -Lee

Additionally, Dana Dentata is set to feature in the genre busting horror / musical podcast, Halloween In Hell, which will premiere October 10th via all podcast platforms. With her brazen rhymes and authoritative flows, Dana Dentata has gained distinction for being equal parts empowering and provocative. By pairing her unapologetically sexual lyrics with production that is just as menacing, Dentata creates liberating, femme-centric hip-hop. A native of Toronto, Canada, she grew up inspired by artists ranging from Britney Spears and Hole, to Marilyn Manson and Eminem. At the end of 2019, Dentata performed at Los Angeles’ Rolling Loud Festival and released her EP, 'Daddy Loves You.'Dana recently took part in Machine Gun Kelly and Audio Up’s four-part scripted Halloween musical HALLOWEEN IN HELL, which has hit 500K+ streams since it’s October 19th debut. The losers will play out their showbiz careers in fiery hellfire and damnation.About Audio Up:Audio Up CEO Jared Gutstadt explains, “Halloween, much like other major holidays, deserves its own entertainment tent pole. While a lot of people focus on Christmas, Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve, we really believe that Halloween is an undersurface time of year for folks to enjoy original content. I was always a fan of ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ and ‘Nightmare Before Christmas,’ and we believe we're creating an evergreen franchise that will allow us to unlock new stories every year with original music, possibly ending up in the realm of live or visual content. Machine Gun Kelly was an extremely logical and obvious partner for us. His brand pairs well with the season.”https://www.danadentata.com/https://www.instagram.com/danadentata/?hl=enhttps://twitter.com/danadentata?lang=enhttps://www.facebook.com/danadentata/We want to hear from you!
