We can't separate our nervous system from the nervous systems of others we are in relationship to since we affect one another. In a practical sense, we are not separate. Nervous systems do not develop in isolation. If we are not regulated and have children, there is an immediate effect on them. Co-regulation is the regulation of emotions and behaviors in relationships or groups. We don't have the family and tribal traditions that produce co-regulation today. Group protocols can help groups self-regulate as an organism. We may think spiritual practices or understanding will do the psychological or physiological work that is necessary and then find we need to address it. Spiritual practices are potentially nervous system regulating, which is not the aim of practices but one aspect of them that can support our spiritual journey. Psychological work is not the same as spiritual work. The point of spiritual work is to allow for consciousness in the body to disidentify and come into relationship with a much larger Reality. For that to take place without the organism going into panic, we need a grounded sense of self. A healthy ego is necessary in order to transcend it. We don't need to beat ourselves up for not having regulated nervous systems. The idea is not to stop reacting but to maintain continuity of presence and awareness. It's beneficial to relax. Without encountering and engaging a level of energetic intensity, we may not get to the wakefulness that allows for transformation. A well-regulated nervous system can move flexibly between different states and experiences and be in relationship with the unknown. Breath can be an indicator of whether we're regulated or not and is also a pathway toward regulation. Clelia Vahni Lewis is the author of Stainless Heart: The Wisdom of Remorse and a freelance editor specializing in works of dharma, spiritual practice, self-help, and memoir.

Men are such cocksuckers aren't they? You don't have to answer that. It's true. They're scared. Their dicks get limp when confronted by a woman of obvious power and what do they do about it? Fear of losing their hard-on This week, we're casting our spell on the 1987 film adaptation of "The Witches of Eastwick," a cinematic gem that blends dark comedy, supernatural thrills, and a powerhouse cast. Join your hosts Meg and Clelia as we delve into the film's portrayal of power, sexuality, and sisterhood, dissecting the unforgettable performances of Cher, Susan Sarandon, and Michelle Pfeiffer, as well as the devilish Jack Nicholson. "Suzy Banyon decided to perfect her ballet studies in the most famous school of dance in Europe. She chose the celebrated academy of Freiburg. One day, at nine in the morning, she left Kennedy airport, New York, and arrived in Germany at 10:40 p.m. local time..." This week, Clelia and Meg delve into the eerie world of Suspiria, examining both Dario Argento's 1977 classic and Luca Guadagnino's 2018 reimagining. Join us as we compare the unique styles, narratives, and themes of these two horror masterpieces. We begin with Argento's original, a technicolor nightmare that revolutionised horror with its striking visuals, haunting Goblin score, and unforgettable atmosphere. What elements make this film a timeless piece of horror history? Then, we shift to Guadagnino's ambitious remake, a film that replaces the original's vivid colors with a muted, dread-filled palette and adds new layers of psychological and political complexity. How does this version stand on its own, and what fresh dimensions does it bring to the sinister dance academy? Clelia and Meg discuss standout performances, especially Jessica Harper and Dakota Johnson as Suzy Bannion, and delve into the thematic contrasts, exploring how each film addresses femininity, power, and terror. Whether you're a longtime fan of Argento's classic or intrigued by Guadagnino's fresh take, this episode offers a thoughtful analysis of two films that, while sharing the same bones, provide distinctly different experiences. Tune in for a captivating conversation that honors the eerie brilliance of Suspiria in all its forms.

Welcome to the first of a new series, One Less Lonely Practitioner. This series came to me as I pondered how alone I felt during my first few months as a BCBA. I had supportive coworkers and boss, but something was missing. I felt that I could not admit the struggles that I was experiencing as a BCBA, for fear that nobody else was experiencing them. For example, my first few months, I never took a lunch, simply hurrying from client to parent meeting to client, never sitting down long enough to catch my breath. I kept quiet, but little did I know my other coworkers were feeling the same stress that I was. This series I hope, will prove to lessen that stigma of suffering alone, and let us build upon each other's wisdom and become better analysts as a result! To kick off this series, I had the privilege of talking to Dr. Clelia Sigaud. She is a special educator, school psychologist, educator in a verified course sequence, and has extensive experience in severe problem behavior. We chat about her experience in the school system, and as a VCS educator. She also helps run the site, www.learningbehavioranalysis.com. She and her colleague run biweekly task list study groups, which can be found on her Facebook page, Learning Behavior Analysis .com | Facebook
