David's realised he takes on a strange persona whenever he's in a DIY shop or garden centre, which is something his wife Naomi picked up on recently when they were at their local B&Q. He thinks it might be connected to his old job as a gardener and what little knowledge from that time he's managed to retain. Suffice to say, he really doesn't like who he becomes in these situations - but it's something that Joe very much enjoys hearing about on today's pod. In this week's episode, Andrew is joined by the enigmatic Dr. Sam to dissect the sticky, smelly world of B-sides. From Suede's majestic castaways to Korn's half-baked remixes, they wade knee-deep into what makes a B-side a banger or just a bad idea. Along the way, Andrew reminisces about the peculiar 80s phenomenon of white dog poo, the trauma of squishy sandals, and why Ipswich is (mercifully) less turd-laden these days. Dr. Sam brings his sharp ear and an unsettling amount of love for freaky remixes, while Andrew stirs the pot with a few eyebrow-raising picks (Iron Maiden, we're looking at you). Together, they traverse the highs and lows of music's forgotten gems, with enough tangents to make a GPS give up. Expect tales of childhood horrors, rants about CD singles, and a surprisingly deep discussion about Supergrass and the Manic Street Preachers. Oh, and a mission to prove that Nigel Farage is unfit to lead anything, let alone reform. Grab a drink, settle in, and prepare for musical musings with a side of irreverent nonsense. ### Riffs of the week #### Dr Sam's Riff - Bad Shout - Doublecross (opening) #### Andrew's Riff - Tigran Hamasyan - The Kingdom (1:30) ### Dr Sam's track choices 1. If you work in a bakery, you smell like bread. A mechanic? Oil and grease. But some jobs leave… well, unique scents behind. For example, we all leave here smelling like Kate’s Manuka honey and Fitz and Wip’s B.O every day. We chat about the unmistakable smells of work, and why some people’s careers are truly written all over them (or at least in their scent). See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week on Submarine and A Roach, Nigeria's #1 comedy podcast, Tmt and Koj bring the laughs and introspection in Episode 214. The duo kicks things off with a deep dive into the viral TikTok hit Bad B*tch Syndrome, dissecting its quintessential afrobeats vibe and why critics just don't get it. It's a track that's dividing the internet, and Tmt and Koj are here to set the record straight. Next, they tackle the idea of leaving Twitter, with Tmt hilariously recounting how he failed a Bluesky captcha, prompting Koj to question if Tmt is, in fact, a bot. From there, they explore the anime Blue Lock and Tmt's experience with non-alcoholic beers as part of his sobriety journey. Briefly touching on Big Groove and Ope Famakin, the conversation shifts to first-generation immigrants making "Nigerian Parent" content, and where the cultural disconnect lies. The laughs keep coming as they delve into mushrooms, with Tmt sharing his experiences on a Psilocybin journey and Koj reflecting on his worst shroom high. The guys also get personal, discussing what their ideal weddings would look like, and Koj opens up about his journey with ADHD treatment and knee rehabilitation. Packed with humor, heartfelt moments, and unfiltered takes, this episode is a perfect blend of insight and hilarity. In this Halloween-themed episode, Daniel and Garet dive into the season of spookiness and villains, exploring the idea of embracing your inner “villain” as a way of living authentically. With the season of costumes and haunted houses setting the tone, they ask: Why do we sometimes feel like villains for simply being ourselves? They explore the balance between empathy and self-assurance, discussing their own experiences of when they've been perceived as villains for putting themselves first. Ultimately, this episode is about owning your choices and celebrating your authentic self, villain era and all! As we enter Women's History Month, it's important to remember just how far we've come and still having so much more work to do. In that effort, it's important to know just how women have contributed to our advancement and many of these women you might recognize and many you may not because their work was stolen or taken credit for by someone else. These women show what's possible and I can't wait for you to listen to this one! Please share it with someone you think would enjoy it too!
