Uisce (pronounced "ish-ka," the Irish word for "water") is the sole full-length album by Australian band Non-Intentional Lifeform (N.I.L.), released in 1997 by Roadrunner Records. Formed in Perth in 1995, N.I.L. was known for their eclectic fusion of hard rock, thrash metal, post-punk, rap, and funk. Energetic and unpredictable, the album is an inventive blend of genres anchored by stellar musical performances that sound like a bridge between rap-rock pioneers Rage Against The Machine and Faith No More, and late 90s alternative and nu-metal of System of a Down and Incubus.   Songs In This Episode Intro - Living or Existing 21:36 - Farm Animals 23:37 - Sister Julienne 33.22 - Spilling All Over The Floor Outro - Living or Existing   Support the podcast, join the DMO UNION at Patreon. Jesse Starcher, Robert Cooper, Mik Wanamaker and Mark Radulich present their MSlipknot 25th Anniversary Self Titled 2024 Album Review as part of the MHOD Jukebox!Slipknot is an American heavy metal band formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995 by percussionist Shawn Crahan, former vocalist Anders Colsefni and bassist Paul Gray. After several lineup changes in its early years, the band settled on nine members for more than a decade: Crahan, Gray, Joey Jordison, Craig Jones, Mick Thomson, Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, Chris Fehn, and Jim Root. Slipknot is well known for its attention-grabbing image, aggressive style of music, and energetic and chaotic live shows. The band rapidly rose to fame following the release of their eponymous debut album in 1999. The 2001 follow-up album, Iowa, although darker in tone, made the band more popular. After a brief hiatus, Slipknot returned in 2004 with Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses), before going on another hiatus and returning in 2008 with its fourth album, All Hope Is Gone, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. After another long hiatus, Slipknot released its fifth studio album, .5: The Gray Chapter, in 2014. Their sixth studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, was released on August 9, 2019. Their seventh studio album, The End, So Far, was released on September 30, 2022. The band has released two live albums titled 9.0: Live and Day of the Gusano: Live in Mexico, a compilation album titled Antennas to Hell, and five live DVDs. The band has sold 30 million records worldwide and over 12 million in their home country.Slipknot is the debut studio album by American heavy metal band Slipknot. It was released on June 29, 1999, by Roadrunner Records, following a demo containing a few of the songs which had previously been released in 1998. Later, it was reissued in December 1999 with a slightly-altered track listing and mastering as the result of a lawsuit. It was the first release by the band to be produced by Ross Robinson, who sought to refine Slipknot's sound rather than alter the group's musical direction. This is the only album to feature original guitarist Josh Brainard who left at the end of recording in late 1998 while the band was taking a brief break. Jim Root, who recorded two tracks at this point, would appear full time on subsequent albums starting with their next album Iowa. The album spans several genres, but is generally noted for its extensive percussion and overall heavy sound. It was well received by fans and critics alike and was responsible for bringing Slipknot a large increase in popularity. The album peaked at number 51 on the Billboard 200, and has gone on to become certified double platinum in the United States, making it the band's best-selling album. In 2011, it was voted the best debut album of the last 25 years by readers of Metal Hammer magazine.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

Remember the late '80s when thrash metal was roaring through the underground, just waiting to explode? Those were the days when Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax were solidifying their places as the big four of thrash. But amidst these giants, bands like Paradox were carving their unique paths with blistering riffs and complex compositions that sometimes flew under the radar. If you're the type of metalhead who loves to dig through the crates at your local record store, hoping to stumble upon something you might have missed, then Paradox's 1989 release “Heresy” is the treasure you've been looking for.Paradox formed in Würzburg, Germany, in 1986, led by the dynamic duo of Charlie Steinhauer and Alex Blaha. Initially part of a cover band paying homage to acts like Overkill and Venom, they quickly transitioned to creating their original sound. By 1987, they had inked a deal with Roadrunner Records, a label synonymous with underground metal. Their debut, “Product of Imagination,” set the stage, but it was their sophomore effort, “Heresy,” that really made waves in the metal community.Imagine discovering an album purely by accident on a metal blog, where a quick 30-second sample convinces you that you've struck gold. That's precisely what happened when Tim stumbled upon “Heresy.” This album is a masterclass in thrash, delivering the speed, technical prowess, and raw energy defining the genre while infusing progressive elements that set it apart. From the opening acoustic strains that segue into ferocious thrash anthems, “Heresy” grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go. Tracks like “Kill Time” showcase the band's insane technical skills, with 30-second note melodies played at breakneck speeds. It's not just about speed and aggression; Paradox brings a level of musicianship and melody often lost in thrash's chaos.A standout track, “Search for Perfection,” features harmonized leads that are as captivating as they are complex. These guys aren't just about playing fast; they're about playing smart, weaving intricate guitar lines that demand repeat listens to appreciate fully. The tracks “Heresy” and “700 Years On” blend the historical narrative with relentless riffs, creating a listening experience that's both intellectually and sonically stimulating. What makes “Heresy” particularly fascinating is its concept. The album delves into the Albigensian Crusade of the 13th century, a campaign initiated by Pope Innocent III to eradicate Catharism in southern France. This historical depth adds a layer of intrigue, making the lyrics worth diving into despite their rapid-fire delivery. The production, handled by Harris Johns (known for his work with Celtic Frost, Kreator, and Sodom), ensures that every note and beat hits with precision and power. No wonder this album still sounds fresh today, able to stand toe-to-toe with modern thrash releases. The band's journey didn't end with “Heresy.” After a hiatus, they returned in 2000 with “Collision Course” and have since released several albums, including “Heresy II: End of a Legend” in 2021. While line-up changes have been frequent, Charlie Steinhauer remains the driving force, keeping the spirit of Paradox alive and thrashing. So next time you're flipping through vinyl, keep an eye out for “Heresy.” Whether a $32 import or a hidden gem in the bargain bin, it's a worthy addition to any thrash aficionado's collection. And if you're still on the fence, take a listen on your preferred streaming platform. This is thrash metal at its finest, and it might just become your new favorite discovery.Songs In This EpisodeIntro - Heresy 15:29 - Killtime 16:55 - Search for Perfection 21:01 - Castle in the Wind 24:47 - Massacre of the Cathars 27:26 - 700 Years On Outro - Crusaders RevengeMake Your Metal Voice Heard! In our quest to explore the depths of 80s metal, we rely on you, our listeners. It's been 30 years, Slackers! After watching a studio performance by WEEZER, celebrating the 30th anniversary of their amazing debut record, I looked into what other music dropped in 1994. Holy cow, that was a pretty good year for music! Records from RANCID, THE OFFSPRING, and GREEN DAY all came out in 1994, moving past the “grunge/punk” aesthetic into the pop-punk era that would drive the later shift into emo.Under the mainstream radar, were bands like BLACK TRAIN JACK, DOG EAT DOG, and LIFE OF AGONY, all on ROADRUNNER RECORDS, while huge legacy acts like THE ROLLING STONES, JOHNNY CASH, and TOM PETTY all had releases during the year. And not to be thrown to the wayside, grunge supergroups SOUNDGARDEN, PEARL JAM, and NIRVANA all had multiplatinum records. 1994 was also the year that KURT COBAIN took his own life, with “MTV Unplugged in New York” released posthumously. Basically, 1994 was a great year for music. And a little shoutout to my buddy Coop up there in Heaven - I told you WEEZER was a better band than PAVEMENT.

Doom the World: The Gift of Sorrow

Endless Metal Podcast

With few exceptions most short lived metal bands make forgettable comeback albums. One very recent and clear exception to this rule is the stunning death doom record "Death of Sorrow" by Sorrow (Extreme Records, 2023). "Death of Sorrow" is equal parts catchy crushing riffs and and deeply personal ferocity--killer vocals and lyrics that are brutal commentaries on political corruption, religious hypocrisy, and the dark side of the human condition. If you've listened to earlier episodes, you know Jeff and Ben are huge fans of hardcore punk legends Black Flag, Minor Threat, and many others. We appreciate hardcore's brutally honest lyrics, DIY ethos, and take no prisoners delivery. To that end, Sorrow is a rare gem. While they play slow crushing death metal, songs like "Doom the World" and "Judicial Falsity" are heavy smack downs on America's broken social systems and suffocating hypocrisy. Most importantly, this deeply personal record is characterized by a seething ferocity that acts as a pressure valve for decades of pent up aggression (fear, hatred and disgust too). Not surprisingly "Death of Sorrow" was #15 on the Endless Metal top 30 of 2023. And it may even be higher now, as we continue to listen to this record over and over into 2024. It was thus an honor to interview Sorrow's original and now reformed lineup: Andy Marchione (Vocals and Bass), Bill Rogan (Guitars), Brett Clarin (Guitars), and Mike Hymson (Drums). **** While it may be a point of debate, Sorrow put "death metal" and "doom" on a flier in 1990 and are thus one of the first band's to integrate two of our favorite metal genres. We revisit their (mostly bleak) past, although they played some killer shows in the early 90s with fellow death doom legends Winter and, as the accompanying visual shows, Sorrow headlined a show with another incredibly influential doom band, Grief (now Come to Grief). Prior to becoming Sorrow, the band in the late 1980s cut their teeth as Apparition in Long Island's (New York's) burgeoning extreme death metal scene. A scene where their friends from the obscure (wink, wink) death metal band Suffocation were tearing up now defunct local clubs like Sundance. We learn about the band's early struggles as perpetual outsiders to the scene as well as some classic and harrowing stories from the road. Classic tales are told of Sorrow's ill fated signing to the infamous Roadrunner Records in the early 1990s--the label that released the band's first EP "Forgotten Sunrise" and first proper full length "Hatred and Disgust" (1992)--and then summarily dropped Sorrow barely two years later. Fortunately, the band's last rehearsals of new material were captured on video. Although they considered a reunion circa 2010, it took eleven more years for Sorrow to reunite, re-learn, and properly record a new record. Some 30 years later, thanks to the miracle of home digital recording by Andy (mixing) and Brett (mastering) "Death of Sorrow" was finally given its proper release. While it is highly unlikely that Sorrow will ever play a live show again, there is a possibility we may hear some new music in the future (Sorrow from the Grave?). So turn off the latest news of our corrupt, war ridden world and, indeed, enjoy the gift of Sorrow! Music included in this episode appears in the following order: "Doom the World" by Sorrow "At Dawn They Sleep" by Slayer "Infinite Universe Infinite Death" by Journey into Darkness "Eternal Frost" by Winter "Hidden Fear" by Sorrow "Judicial Falsity" by Sorrow "Leave Me in Hell" by Venom "Flight of the Bumble-bee" by The Great Kat "A Wasted Cry for Hope" by Sorrow "Small Man, Big Fan" by Minor Threat "Dumb and Dumber: So you're telling me there's a chance" "Fracture" by Spacedive "Remembered Eternally" (Complete Track) by Sorrow

It was released on June 29, 1999, by Roadrunner Records, following a demo containing a few of the songs which had previously been released in 1998.[4] Later, it was reissued in December 1999 with a slightly-altered track listing and mastering as the result of a lawsuit. It was the first release by the band to be produced by Ross Robinson, who sought to refine Slipknot's sound rather than alter the group's musical direction. This is the only album to feature original guitarist Josh Brainard who left at the end of recording in late 1998 while the band was taking a brief break. Robert Cooper and Mark Radulich present their Slipknot - .5: The Gray Chapter 2014 Review..5: The Gray Chapter is the fifth studio album by American heavy metal band Slipknot. Released in Australia, Belgium and the Netherlands on October 17, 2014, the UK on October 20, 2014 and in North America on October 21, 2014 by Roadrunner Records.[4] It was the first studio album by the band in six years and the first not to feature original founding members bassist Paul Gray and drummer Joey Jordison due to the death of Gray in 2010 (the title of the album being a reference to his surname), and Jordison being fired from the band in late 2013, as well as the only Slipknot album to feature original guitarist Donnie Steele on bass, although the tracks he played on are unknown, and the first Slipknot album to have Alessandro Venturella on bass and Jay Weinberg on drums. The album includes six singles and has received commercial success and acclaiming reviews. A standard and deluxe edition of the album was released. It is also the band's final studio album to feature their longtime percussionist Chris Fehn before his dismissal from the band due to a lawsuit in March 2019."The Negative One" received a nomination for Best Metal Performance at the 57th annual Grammy Awards. The album was nominated for Best Rock Album the following year, along with a Best Metal Performance nomination for the song "Custer".Original Airdate 11/13/2014Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsosnapchat: markkind76FB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulich

January 11th, 2000 is a very historic day in Oklahoma City concert history. Slipknot was scheduled to play the Tower Theater for the 3rd time. The first show, they didn't have enough room to play the show due to being the opener on a Coal Chamber & Machine Head Package Tour. Max & Jimmy Johnson from Element, scramble, put their heads together to figure out how to get Slipknot back to OKC to play a headlining date. They have an off day on a Monday 10 days later, resulting in Slipknot coming back to play for 400 or so people with Element & Lowlife opening the show. Max see's the popularity of the band growing & wants to bring them back through again & the January 11th, 2000 date was booked. Keep in mind, during this time, 23rd street OKC, was not the nice vibrant neighborhood that it is now! It was a dangerous place to be with vacant store fronts everywhere. We set down with Max Baker Jr. & Jeff Brownen to tell their accounts of what happned that day, where they were during the chaos, the discussions between the band management & the booking agent, & paying the band, all before Slipknot decided not to play. There were rumors for years about what happened that night, Hopefully this clears up some of the chaos & confusion & brings people back together!  Published & Aired Feb. 28th, 2000 on MTV News - "It was a bad gig, man. We learned out lesson," Corey Taylor (#8) continued. "We're never going to play there again. We're going to play a place that will hold everybody. And he will not be involved," percussionist Shawn Crahan (#6) added. https://www.mtv.com/news/k9uiqu/slipknot-has-its-say-on-oklahoma-city-concert-flap  Fast Forward 22 years later to 2022 & Max Baker Jr. was involved in a Slipknot show in Oklahoma, where his company The Baker Boys did production load in & load out.... and yes, Max was in the building, from start to finish! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
