No film-room cop-outs, no “it depends” hedging. Just quick, honest win-loss calls across the entire schedule, including rivalry landmines in the AFC North and that wildcard trip to Paris to face the Saints. After the picks, we zoom out and talk about what's actually driving optimism right now: a complete coaching reset under Mike McCarthy, what minicamp and OTAs can reveal about tempo and expectations, and why veteran buy-in matters as much as talent. We also hit key Steelers news and roster pressure points, like the Chris Boswell extension and the growing questions around Joey Porter Jr and how a “hold in” could impact training camp.We finish by asking the real question behind every schedule prediction: if 12 and 5 is on the table, what does this team have to change to finally deliver in the postseason? Chris Boswell inks an extension to make him the highest paid kicker in the NFL. what is the biggest biggest hole, Steve Kerr is back - where does he rank among the best coaches in pro sports? Caitlin Clark is having health issues.
Chris Boswell and the Steelers agreed to terms today on a 4-year deal worth $28M that locks the kicker up through the 2030 season. The contract ties Boswell with Brandon Aubrey as the league's highest-paid kicker. Side note – why does the local media always post different contract details to make it seem like the team got a better deal? Boswell is 6th all-time in field goal percentage, behind a few other current guys, but carrying a longer tenure than almost all of them. Poni thinks Boswell will be more valuable than Aaron Rodgers next season, assuming the QB comes back. How would you grade their offseason so far? It feels like most of their moves are in the ‘good' category instead of the ‘bad' as of right now. We have more tea on the Mike Vrabel-Dianna Russini situation. NFL writer Tyler Dunne from Go Long TD dot com joined the show. Years ago, Tyler wrote a story about the fallout of Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy while in Green Bay. Tyler said it was pretty ugly between the coach and QB with the Packers and has his doubts it can reconcile into success in Pittsburgh. Tyler feels like this is a case of both people having no other options. Tyler wondered if Rodgers will be checked out this time around with McCarthy the way he was in his final seasons in Green Bay. Tyler said ‘it's hard to see this ending well.' Tyler has some belief that Rodgers never forgave McCarthy for liking Alex Smith more than him, as the 49ers OC, coming out of the 2005 NFL Draft. Is Rodgers still a savant that is good enough to get this team over the top? Tyler hopes that McCarthy stands up for himself this time around. Tyler believes that Rodgers would have retired by now if he didn't want to play anymore.

Drew Allar was Mike McCarthy's pick and Will Howard was Mike Tomlin's pick. Mike Tomlin has officially joined NBC and Tomlin said it was time for T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward, and Chris Boswell to have a new leader.
Mark said that Maxx Crosby failing his physical after an agreed upon deal has happened before, but not to this level. Mark thinks it's definitely shady. What will Chris Boswell want in his next contract? The Steelers have brought back punter Cameron Johnston.
Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith discuss all things Pittsburgh Steelers. On today's episode, we discuss if Patrick Queen could be on his way out of Pittsburgh, following a bunch of trade speculation. Where would the team pivot? What's the most sensible resolution? We then discuss the team signing RB Rico Dowdle and how he fits into what they want to do. Cameron Johnson was brought back to at least compete for the punting job. What could a Chris Boswell contract extension look like? Should Nate Hobbs be on the team's radar? It's suddenly better times in Pittsburgh sports. The Pirates are the biggest story in baseball, and it's a positive for once. There's nothing fluky about the Pens at this point. Dubas has quickly turned around the Pens. There's even some excitement about the Steelers. Joe is completely right about the reaction if the Steelers draft Ty Simpson and Limits and Donny are completely wrong. The Steelers report card is horrible again. There are only 5 toilets. There's hope, and the Pens are getting results right now too. Callers chime in on the optimism. Drew Allar discussion. Shelty used the word incrinkulent yesterday. I make up a word "fellendoofer". A caller used it immediately. Callers are very happy on this wonderful day. On this episode of Conduct Detrimental: THE Sports Law Podcast, Dan Lust (@SportsLawLust) is joined by Mike Lawson (@Mikesonoflaw) and Mike Kravchenko (Watch on YouTube) to reunite for a Mike & Mike edition tackling the latest sports law stories of the week. The trio opens with the Demond Williams NIL saga, breaking down the Washington quarterback's $4 million revenue-sharing agreement, his abrupt transfer announcement, the Washington blockade, and his dramatic reversal to stay with the Huskies. The trio discusses the enforceability of NIL contracts in a post-House settlement world, who pays buyout clauses when players breach deals, and why Williams split with Wasserman mid-process. The conversation shifts to Trinidad Chambliss and his denied sixth-year waiver appeal. The Ole Miss playoff quarterback, who led Ferris State to a Division II title before transferring, faced NCAA rejection over insufficient medical documentation from 2022. Tom Mars entered the fight to appeal, but Mike K explains why four-year-old medical records and Ferris State's lack of documentation create a difficult case.Next, the episode dives into trademark chaos surrounding the Las Vegas Athletics. The USPTO denied the team's applications for "Las Vegas Athletics" and "Vegas Athletics" as geographically descriptive and too generic—despite the same name working in Philadelphia, Kansas City, and Oakland. Mike K unpacks the Oakland fan group Last Dive Bar's competing trademark claim, the reality of what the USPTO website actually shows, and whether the A's will rebrand entirely or fight through appeals before their 2028 Vegas stadium opens. Mike L closes baseball with the breaking news of Max Kepler's 80-game PED suspension. The discussion then turns to Anthony Joshua, where Dan provides an update on the recent car crash in Nigeria that left two dead. Dan walks through what this means, the evidentiary challenges of a destroyed vehicle, and the tragedy of Joshua's world flipping from a knockout victory over Jake Paul to losing friends in a crash.Mike L and Dan tackle the ugliest side of sports: online harassment and death threats aimed at kickers. Following Tyler Loop's missed playoff kick for the Ravens and Chris Boswell's blocked extra point for the Steelers, both faced vicious online attacks. The episode wraps with quick hits on Stefon Diggs, whose felony strangulation arraignment was postponed until after the Super Bowl despite originally facing arraignment during the AFC Championship—raising questions about the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy and why he's still suiting up for the Patriots. Mike L shares his what to watch for: a preview of the Supreme Court's January 13th arguments on transgender athlete bans in Idaho and West Virginia.Let us know your thoughts!***Have a topic you want to write about?
