The Humble Servants of God Part 2: Joseph, the Earthly Father of Jesus Matthew 1:18-24 God's ways are not our ways. Just like Mary, Joseph, according to human reasoning and understanding was an unlikely choice to be used by God to be His Son's earthly father. But God takes the logic and reasoning of the world and flips it on its head. It was prophesied that Jesus would come from the Tribe of Judah and would be a direct descendant of both Abraham and King David. Joseph fulfilled this ancient prophesy, but even though he was a man of simple means, we can learn much from his life. Joseph chose to walk by faith even in the midst of confusion. He was a man who modeled humility and Joseph's life, character and obedience point us to the heart of our Heavenly Father. As the children of God, may we all strive to be more like Joseph; humble and selfless as we serve the King of kings and Lord of lords, Jesus.See you Sunday!I love y'alldoug

The audio is a sermon focused on the character of Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus, drawing primarily from Matthew 1:18-25 and references in Luke's Gospel. The speaker highlights Joseph's character traits, suggesting he was the "perfect man" chosen by God for the critical role of raising His Son. The sermon's main points about Joseph's character are: He Was a Just/Righteous Man: The Bible explicitly calls Joseph a just or righteous man. This righteousness demanded consequences when a sin was committed. His Righteousness Was Balanced with Mercy and Love: Despite having every appearance that his espoused wife, Mary, had been unfaithful—a serious offense—Joseph was "minded to put her away privily" rather than making her a public example, showing mercy, grace, and kindness.
The Birth of a King: The King's Earthy Father - Week Two Isaiah 7:10-14, Matthew 1:18-23 Pastor Christopher Ek This Sunday, we step into Joseph's upheaval in Matthew 1, where God forms a courageous heart in the middle of a crisis. We'll see why Matthew calls. Joseph "righteous," and how a different kind of King enters our world through mercy, not power. As we come to the communion table, we'll remember that the same King still meets us with grace in our own moments of uncertainty. www.bethanycovenant.com

An episode from East River Baptist Church, a conservative, independent body of King James Bible believers located on the Northeast side of Houston, Texas. East River Baptist Church's (ERBC) mission as an assembly is threefold:- To Exalt the Saviour! Eph. 3:21- To Edify the Saints! Eph. 4:16- To Evangelize the Sinners! Lk 24:47 What ERBC believes about the Scriptures: “We believe that the scriptures of both Old and New Testament are verbally inspired of God, that they are the supreme and final authority for faith and practice, and are preserved in the Authorized Version (KJV 1611) of the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16. Psalm 12:6-7." What ERBC believes about God: “We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. That God is supreme in His person, absolute in His attributes, glorious in His perfection, and eternal in His being. 1 John 5:7." What ERBC believes about Jesus: “We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ. His conception by the Holy Spirit, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His death on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, His bodily resurrection, His exaltation at God's right hand, and His personal imminent, pre-millennial, and pre-tribulation return. Ephesians 1:7. ” What ERBC believes about man: “We believe that God created man in His image and likeness (a triune being: spirit, soul, and body) in a state of innocence's, but through temptation, he willingly transgressed, became dead in trespasses and sins. As a result, his posterity (all men) inherited a corrupt nature, are born in sin, and are under condemnation. Romans 5:12.” A message from ERBC to you:“If you are looking for a church in the Houston Texas area that preaches the Truth from God's Word, reach out to us at any time. Did Jesus mean that we should never refer to our earthly father as “father” (Matthew 23:9)? Is it wrong for Catholics to refer to their priests as “father”? Should the pope be referred to as “holy father”?

We hear so much about Joseph when Jesus is born, but almost nothing throughout the rest of Scripture? What the heck happened to the guy?In today's episode, Pastor Jackie and Pastor Derek talk through a listener question regarding Jesus' earthly father. We look through every Scripture that Joseph is mentioned in to paint a picture of his character and legacy, while also trying to discern why he is never really mentioned during Jesus' public ministry. We hope that this episode helps you better understand what may have happened to Joseph and the kind of man he was.The 17:17 podcast is a ministry of Roseville Baptist Church (MN) that seeks to tackle cultural issues and societal questions from a biblical worldview so that listeners discover what the Bible has to say about the key issues they face on a daily basis. At times it feels almost impossible, given the demands, distractions, and noise all around me. I invite you to lead me to a quiet, silent place before you — to a place where I can hear you as Elijah did. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 123). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Past Failures. Rather, I will abide in the Lord's Grace. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). This weekend, Host Ace McKay introduces you to one of our newest Podcast members, “Dive Deep” tells the conversion story from Buddhist to Catholic and with the help of the guys from “Poco A Poco” we start to heal the wounds of our earthy Fathers with hope that we can all experience the goodness of the fatherhood of God.
A Word From The Lord ministry, with Archbishop Foley Beach, has partnered with Poor Bishop Hooper to walk us through the season of Advent using their original music and animated art. AWFTL Advent Devotional Schedule 12/01/23: In this first episode "Foreword", we begin with God's Creation of the World. However, sin comes into the world necessitating the need for "A Means of Grace and the Hope for Glory", the Christ. 12/3/23: In this episode, “Hope”, the Holy Spirit notifies the aging but unbelieving Priest, Zechariah, that his barren wife Elizabeth will give birth to John the Baptizer, who will prepare the way for God's Grace for our undeserved Salvation, through birth of His Son. 12/10/23: In this episode, “Peace”, the Virgin Mary is notified by an Angel that God, through the Holy Spirit, will bless her with the birth of The Christ, the promised Messiah; and He will be named Jesus. 12/17/23: In this episode “Joy”, Elizabeth is visited by her cousin, Mary as they share both the joy of their unanticipated pregnancies and the assume blessing of God's favor for them and the World, the Incarnate Jesus. 12/24/23: The episode, “Love”, depicts the struggles that Joseph is facing from both his love and duty to an, as yet, unmarried but pregnant Mary. Also, Joseph is coming to grips with burden and responsibility of his early-life fatherhood for Jesus, who is Father God, in a human presence, as God's Son. 12/25/23: The final episode brings it all together in Jesus' genealogy from Adam to The Christ – proving that Advent and Christmas are a great deal more than what the commercialization of Christmas often implies. We end our Advent journey with “The First Born” - The Christ!
God Is Your Heavenly Father; and You Can Speak to Him, in Prayer, as if He Were Your Earthly Father MESSAGE SUMMARY: God is your Heavenly Father and the Creator of the Universe; however, you can talk to Him as your father, and remember that He loves you. As God tells you in 2 Samuel 7:14-15: “I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. When he commits iniquity, I will discipline him with the rod of men, with the stripes of the sons of men, but my steadfast love will not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away from before you.". The story of the birth of Jesus often shines a spotlight on Mary, the mother of Jesus, and rightfully so. However, Joseph, her husband, played an equally pivotal role in the miraculous events surrounding Christ's birth. You will be encouraged by learning from Joseph's unwavering support, humility, and selflessness as he contributed significantly to the fulfillment of God's plan.

Adam, a first time father, looked down at his newborn son with love. Adam and his wife had made mistakes in the past and suffered greatly for it, but this child, their firstborn, was a chance to start fresh. The new family didn't have the support of friends or relatives, but they did their best, and figured it out as they went along. When the family was blessed with another son a few years later, they were so grateful to the Lord, and excited to watch their boys grow and play together. The family of four worked hard, loved God, and they were in it together. Sometimes, though, the sins of our past have a way of catching up with us. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God and were banished from the Garden of Eden, they plunged the world into sin. They couldn't have known at the time just how far-reaching the consequences of this event would be for their family—that their son Cain would one day grow jealous of his brother Abel's favor in the eyes of the Lord, and commit the very first murder. Adam, the first man, and very first human father, has much to teach today's fathers about the consequences of our actions and the absolute necessity of obeying God. Micah 6:8 says, “What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Lessons we can learn from Adam include: Obedience: God wants us to freely obey Him, to trust Him, and to submit to his love. A man who follows and obeys the Lord can be a child's first example of obedience. Integrity: Fathers with integrity know that nothing is hidden from God's sight. Even when no one is around, God sees our actions; men with integrity act accordingly. Responsibility: Godly fathers take responsibility for their own failures and shortcomings, rather than blaming others for their mistakes. The ability to accept responsibility is not a show of weakness, but a sign of strength. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, Adam, the first human father, had no blueprint for fatherhood. Thank you for the wisdom and knowledge we can glean from fathers before us in your Holy Word, the Bible. Uphold fathers, Lord, and open their eyes to your love, and your good plan for their family. Give them the support they need to follow you, and to humbly obey your commands. In Jesus' name, amen.
I'm so excited for this episode! Not only has it been FOREVER since I've done a podcast, but I've got my very sweet friend on here with me today for a little BIBLE talk! We discuss our past, our growing-up families, and our Heavenly family. How shame and distorted views of Earthly Fathers can mess up our perception of our Heavenly Father!

Today's episode features a one-of-a-kind interview with Geoff Kirby. Geoff is in the publishing business these days, and is the rare person who is openly transparent about spiritual warfare he has personally fought. No, we're not talking about casting aside negative thoughts about losing a job or girlfriend, although that's important in its own right. We're talking about actual encounters with demons, exorcisms in the name of Jesus; that sort of thing. Pretty intense stuff, right? Not something we'd prefer to talk openly about on podcasts, but Geoff realized if his story can help others, it's an injustice not to share it. The juicy stuff is inside the podcast, but suffice it to say it's the love, patience and perseverance of both Geoff's heavenly and earthly father that proved to be the pivotal influence in living a life devoted to God and raising a godly family. In this episode, you'll learn: -The impact Geoff's father had on his upbringing and into adulthood...05:47 -How an experience watching The Lion King helped Geoff process his emotions as a child...10:12 -Retreating into an unhealthy place emotionally after a major move...14:13 -A reciprocal cycle of darkness at a new school for the senior year...22:20 -Becoming aware of the spiritual darkness all around us...24:50 -Scriptural instruction on engaging in spiritual warfare...32:55 -A divine challenge to choose life or death...36:54 -The world wants your children dead: spiritually and eventually physically...41:15 -The war never stops, even after (or especially after) a specific victory is achieved...47:23 -Leaving a legacy by leading by example...53:34 -And much more! About the guest: Geoff grew up in a Christian household, with a father working with Christ-based non-profit ministries year round; despite this they were never religious as a family. After a decade of struggle, culminating in a spiritual battle for his soul, Geoff found hope and strength in Jesus. What followed was a fifteen year battle between what is right and what is easy. Running a record label, artist management, co-producing independent metal bands, and transitioning to podcast production, Christian broadcasting, graphic design, website design, & digital publishing, as well as a failed marriage and fighting to keep his second, Geoff has been through the ringer. As he approaches 40, with 3 beautiful daughters, a God-fearing wife, and a cat, Geoff spends his time using his creative skills and talents helping Christian ministries approach and surpass the next level to reach their communities for the Kingdom of God, much like his father before him. Father's Day is an important holiday for many reasons. While our relationship with our heavenly father is imperative, loving and serving our earthly father is just as important. In today's episode of Changing, Donald discusses how we can serve our father and build a better relationship for long-term growth with five different strategies. Learn about your past. Research your family tree and do genealogy to learn about your family's past. Cook a meal with your father. What's the cuisine or recipe your dad loves making or eating? Create those things with him, and create a family recipe to pass down to your own kids. Talk to him. Learn about how he met your mother, what he used to do when he was younger, or memorable moments from his own life. Conversations about his interests will help you learn more about him and give him a chance to speak about his aspirations. Plan a vacation or stay-cation: Plan a short trip together depending on your resources and relationship with your father! Consider traveling back to his hometown or a memorable time of his life so he can share another part of his life with you. Play a game. Whether in-person or remote, playing a game together will be an easy and enjoyable way to spend time together and enjoy one another's company. A final bonus tip: pray for him. Especially if you don't have the best relationship with your father, you'd be amazed at what can happen when you approach the situation with humility to the Lord. Above all, first, lead with love.
