James Watkins has been confirmed as the director for Clayface, DC's upcoming horror-inspired film, scripted by Mike Flanagan. Set for release on September 11, 2026, the movie is described as a horror-thriller-tragedy, focusing on the tragic aspects of Clayface rather than portraying him as a traditional villain.DC co-chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran are producing alongside The Batman director Matt Reeves, with Chantal Nong as executive producer. With Watkins attached, casting can now begin.Watkins, known for The Woman in Black, Eden Lake, and the recent $76M hit Speak No Evil, brings strong horror credentials to the project. This move aligns with DC's growing embrace of genre-driven storytelling, hinting at a darker, more psychological take on Batman's world.Further details, including casting, are expected soon.

Over the past year, we've been meeting monsters. Now… it's time to rank ‘em.We've collected the data, synthesized insights, and conducted hours of analysis. By that, we of course mean we ranked all the monsters we've met since *last* Halloween. If you're more of a visual person, it's kinda like we took our three individual lists, put them through the shunting process from Society, and created one bigger, mutated, bloodier super list. So, expect a lot of surprised reactions, a few jump scares, and the likely possibility of bloodshed. This is a horror movie podcast after all. Make sure to subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or anywhere you get your podcasts.Want to support the show and save 20% on Fangoria? In this episode of How I Met Your Monster, we continue our Masked Up triple feature with Mike Flanagan's 2016 horror thriller Hush, starring Kate Siegel. As horror fans, we couldn't resist sinking our teeth into this tension-packed thriller, where silence plays just as big a role as the masked killer. But don't worry, we're here to lighten the mood with plenty of roasts and off-the-wall humor. We chat about Flanagan's knack for creating gripping horror, especially with Siegel's powerful performance as Maddie, a deaf and mute writer trapped in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse. Between admiring the film's eerie atmosphere and roasting each other (and Maddie's cooking), we had a blast breaking down why Hush has become a modern horror favorite. If you're a fan of horror podcasts that mix scares with laughs, this episode is one you don't want to miss! When is a movie so not great that it's…not actually bad? Can we be entertained in a horror film that doesn't actually involve…um, horror? Does an over 100-minute movie that reveals the main twist 10 minutes in still have the power to keep us in our seats? The answer with M. Night Shamalan's “TRAP” is, somehow, yes. Come on this journey with us on this week's Spooky Season pick, as we recognize that nothing surprised us, the genre was unclear, and the writing felt like AI wrote the script --- and yet, we still stuck around. It's a bit of a wild episode as we try to figure out what's going on. (Spoiler alert, since that's on brand: it's the Emily in Paris effect…sometimes, we don't want to think. Just watch.) Basil Barrington and DJ Keo are back. We just watched the 1987 anime film Wicked City on Amazon, and while it's a great example of classic horror anime with incredible visuals, you really need to pack your sensibilities for this one. The story is gripping and the animation style is top-notch, but the film's depiction of women is problematic, leaving us conflicted. Join us as we discuss what we loved about Wicked City, what held it back, and why it's still worth a watch for mature audiences. You can check out clips and full video episodes on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/behindthegroove
