Indianapolis Colts owner and CEO Jim Irsay has passed on at 65 years old. After featuring audio of his famous call to then-recruit Quenton Nelson, Jack presents for Mike and Zach not-so-quick facts about Mr. Irsay, including his love of music and his vast guitar collection. "What's up man, are you fired up?!" Elsewhere in this manic episode of Hardly Focused: After residing in it for nearly ten years, everything in and around Jack's house is beginning to fail. A Kansas woman is suing several adult entertainment websites after her son discovered them on the internet. That's right. Zach's smoke detector begins its persistent chirp of death mid-recording, so enjoy that. It's not a good time to be a drummer in a rock and/or roll band; just ask Josh Freese and Zak Starkey. Dave and Adam are Young at heart this week as a legendary - and notoriously prickly - troubadour gets the spotlight thrust upon him. Admittedly, neither of your regular microphone fiends are experts on the man born Neil Percival Young, so thankfully they have A. Smyth on hand in the co-host chair, a few weeks ahead of his excellent new album Hello Goliath. That record is up for discussion, alongside a grab-bag of news items, and some thoughtful head-scratching on the runaway success of lore-infused alt-rock sensations Sleep Token. Over on the NO ENCORE Patreon, there's a spirited, additional audio-heavy breakdown of 1995 twistathon The Usual Suspects on a brand new Film Club, while Adam has a fresh Album Club imminent in the days to come - hit up patreon.com/noencore to sign up now! As for this episode...ACT ONE: A. Smyth talks Hello Goliath, sonic irritations, personal inspirations, and more. ACT TWO (38:03): Josh Freese packs his Foo Fighters drum-bags, Donald Trump takes aim at two of his favourite pop culture targets, Lorde makes a strange admission, and what the hell is this Sleep Token phenomenon all about? It's the news. ACT THREE (1:12:21): Top 5 Neil Young. -Follow A. Smyth on Instagram / Bandcamp Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

"The Morrison Project" The London-born guitarist and singer/songwriter Billy Morrison has two main components to his life and for the purposes of this introduction, I'm going to tell you about the musical one. The other one I'll let him tell you about because he'll tell it far better than I can. So: the musical one. After playing in bands like Into A Circle and Stimulator, Morrison was recruited to play bass with The Cult for their opening slot with Aerosmith in the U.S., Japan and Europe. After his stint with The Cult, Morrison formed Camp Freddy with Dave Navarro, Donovan Leitch, Scott Ford and The Cult's Matt Sorum. You'll find the through-line in Morrison's life has a lot to do with The Cult. In 2006 Morrison teamed up with Fuel's Brett Scallions, Ricky Warwick of The Almighty, Slunt's Charles Ruggiero, Korn's Rob Patterson and, you guessed it, The Cult's Billy Duffy for the band Circus Diablo. In 2010 he joined Billy Idol's band and he's been with him ever since, playing stadium shows across the world. Camp Freddy morphed into Royal Machines adding Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray and Josh Freese to the lineup. Morrison's new album is called The Morrison Project and it's got a murderer's row of guests including Al Jourgensen of Ministry, Steve Stevens, Darryl DMC McDaniels of Run DMC, Ozzy Osbourne and Corey Taylor of Slipknot, among others. The album is a big crunchy blast of hard rock bliss with careening guitar riffs and hooks galore. It's not only one of the most satisfying and energizing albums of the year, it's landed Morrison his first number one. Well-deserved. Morrison has acted in movies, become a notable art collector and artist and he co-hosts a show with Ozzy on Sirius. Busy fellow. Billy is the real deal and one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. www.billymorrison.com (http://www.billymorrison.com) www.bombshellradio.com www.stereoembersmagazine.com www.alexgreenbooks.com Twitter: @emberseditor IG: @emberspodcast Email: editor@stereoembersmagazine.com
Big Fat Five: A Podcast Financially Supported by Big Fat Snare Drum
This week's guest is Gunnar Olsen. Gunnar's been on the show a lot recently with "save it for the pod" segments. But I noticed his Big Fat Five episode is almost 4 years old, which is a shame. Recently, I went to the Hollywood Bowl with my friends Mike Robinson and Neal Daniels, both show alumni, to see Gunnar play with Puscifer on the Sessanta tour, celebrating Maynard James Keenan's 60th birthday. It was mind-blowing. Gunnar is an incredible drummer, one of the best out there. At this show, Josh Freese was playing with A Perfect Circle, but now that Josh is busy with Foo Fighters gigs, Gunnar is playing with both Puscifer and A Perfect Circle for the rest of the tour. It's unbelievable and well-deserved. Puscifer is a perfect fit for Gunnar. Apart from this tour, Gunnar has also recorded or toured with Big Data, Bruce Springsteen, Miley Cyrus, HOKO, Mother Feather, Fischerspooner, Goo Goo Dolls, and many others. He's possibly my favorite drummer, and I admire him a lot. He's a close friend, and I always try to catch his shows when we're in the same town. Although this conversation is from 4 years ago, I wanted to bring it back up because the information is still relevant. It's fascinating to hear Gunnar talk about Tim Alexander of Primus, who has been a big influence on him, and now see them hanging out on tour together, seeming like best buds. Anyway, Gunnar, I'm really proud of you, and I admire your career more than you know, even though I tell you all the time. I hope you enjoy the records that helped shape Gunnar Olsen into the drummer he is today. Cheers!

In this exclusive interview reboot, Mark Baratto sits down with Rapper and Singer of the Dirty Heads, Jared Watson (aka Dirty J). This interview happened 30 minutes before the band went on stage for the beginning of their national tour, down here at the Key West Amphitheater. It may have been short, but for those fans out there, we touched on the bands origin story and their beginnings. More on the Dirty Heads Following in the footsteps of their California brothers Sublime, Huntington Beach's Dirty Heads mix hip-hop, reggae, and rock along with that laid-back South Cali attitude. The group formed in 2003 when punk rocker Dustin Bushnell (aka Duddy B) asked his friend, rapper Jared Watson (aka Dirty J), to collaborate on a project that would focus on positive vibes and infectious grooves. Watson added singing to his vocal skills, and with percussionist Jon Olazabal, an acoustic trio version of Dirty Heads began playing shows and building an audience. They soon hooked up with producer Rob Cavallo and headed into the studio to record their debut album for Warner Bros., but differences with the label had them looking for other opportunities. Still, the band was able to retain most of its work, including sessions with drummer Josh Freese, along with the late-Beatles collaborator Billy Preston in one of the keyboardist's last recordings. The finished album, Any Port in a Storm, would arrive in 2008, with a deluxe edition following in 2010. The deluxe version featured the track “Lay Me Down” with special guest Rome Ramirez of Sublime with Rome. The song would top Billboard's Alternative Songs chart just before the summer of 2010. They followed up two years later with Cabin by the Sea and later recorded an acoustic version of the title track. This, in turn, led to an entire acoustic album in 2013 called Home: Phantoms of Summer. Dirty Heads' next album, Sound of Change, would prove to be a breakthrough for the now-veteran band, debuting at number eight on the Billboard Top 200 while topping the Independent and Alternative Albums charts upon its May 2014 release. Building on their renewed success, Dirty Heads enlisted a bevy of industry hitmakers to work on their self-titled 2016 follow-up, which — thanks to its mainstream appeal — again charted high on the Billboard Top 200. The following year saw the band drop its sixth studio album, Swim Team, featuring the singles “Vacation” and “Staloney.” Also included on the album was the track “So Glad You Made It,” featuring 311's Nick Hexum. The single “Listen to Me” arrived in early 2019 and was later included on Dirty Heads' Dave Cobb-produced seventh album Super Moon. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi Website: https://www.dirtyheads.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dirtyheads Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DirtyHeads Twitter: https://twitter.com/dirtyheads YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/DirtyHeads Spotify: https://play.spotify.com/artist/6GkJh85o22LfD2vgL9DP6f?play=true&utm_source=open.spotify.com&utm_medium=open Apple iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/dirty-heads/id287941061
