Far From The Madding Crowd is Hardy's fourth novel. It centres on the lives of five characters: Gabriel Oak, Bathsheba Everdene, Mr Boldwood, Sgt. Troy and Fanny Robin. The plot involves love, loyalty, death and betrayal and all this is delivered to us in Hardy's most eloquent prose. The images of character and nature are painted for our mind's eye with sublime style. Finally, but not least, Hardy's use of the Greek chorus is unsurpassed in injecting comedy and nudging the story along. Enthusiasms taken too far!'Far From The Madding Crowd' by Thomas Hardy is a small & simple tale of love, betrayal, anger and heartbreak. It's set in Wessex during Victorian England in the farmland countryside. The young, beautiful Bathsheba is courted by 3 suitors: mild-mannered shepherd Gabriel, distinguished farmer Boldwood and dashing sergeant Troy.I summarised the book as follows. "It's a bare bones tale that probably strays into too much simplicity. I found it hard to connect with any character other than Gabriel and even then not deeply so. It's not a great love story and is probably better suited for kids. Personally I would recommend his other famous work 'Tess Of The d'Urbervilles' rather than this one."I hope you have a fantastic day wherever you are in the world. Ashley & Matt have seen the 2005 Pride & Prejudice, and the 2015 Far From the Madding Crowd, but neither remember them. What to do? Re-watch them, of course! Listen as we discuss two film adaptations of 19th century British novels in our latest episode.
Analysing the romance drama film Far From The Madding Crowd (2015), exploring the different suitors and their own interpretations of love in the realms of Bathsheba Everdene. We follow various stories, a heiress of a farm, an ex-farmer, the neighbour, the sergeant, all in search for some sort of peace and prosperity. Their stories tell us of the beauty and the burden of love. How conversations hold so much weight, and even in the smallest of gestures could tilt someone's cold heart. How an idea can make a new life, but the old one can tear it apart. And how someone can give you so much attention at the beginning, and yet, in the end, present their true selves that hinders your progress. It's difficult to maintain a balance when it comes to work, life and love. These ideas, these actions, these coincidences, all far from prying eyes, all far gossip, all behind closed doors. Are all far from the madding crowd. This book review about Thomas Hardy's Far From The Madding explores the main theme of the classic book. The book review does not try to give any spoilers for those who have not read it but is also very insightful for those who have already read this classic book. Far From The Madding Crowd is a piece of classic literature that compromise apart of the so called Western Canon of great literature. It is a book about life, love, folly and goodness. We hope you enjoy.

Far from the Madding Crowd udkom på dansk blu-ray fra 20th Century Fox d. 3. september. Hør mere om filmen i podcasten, og læs mere om blu-rayen på bloggen.
