For years, actor Flula Borg has kept audiences laughing with his unique brand of humor. As a firm believer in making your own content, Flula landed his breakout role in the "Pitch Perfect" franchise after a comedic YouTube video of his went viral and captured the attention of Hollywood. Since then, he's appeared in numerous hit comedy series including "The Rookie," "Ghosts," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "The Good Place," and many more. As a voice actor, Flula also has a long list of animated film and television credits to his name. Today, Flula shares what it means to be a smart improviser, how he prepared to go take after take on James Gunn's "The Suicide Squad" and how he's navigated the transition from comedy to drama with his role in the upcoming World War II biopic "Bonhoeffer" set to be released later this year. These are the unforgettable stories that landed Flula Borg right here. Welcome Back to Franchise Me! This week we continue our journey into the world of acapella as we talk about "Pitch Perfect 2." We discuss the disappointing nature of the movie, the important plot point that should have never been more than a five second joke, and the supporting cast who shine in their small roles. Come back next week as we finish up the trilogy and talk about "Pitch Perfect 3." Share your thoughts and opinions with us on Twitter and Instagram @FranchiseMePod, see our rankings on Letterboxd (FranchiseMe) and email us at FranchiseMePod@gmail.com. Check out our website franchisemepodcast.com to see all of our episodes and more.
Today I have decided, since I watched Pitch Perfect one and hated it. Why not put myself through more beautiful agony and watch Pitch Perfect 2. I remember years ago that the promotion for this movie was everywhere, nobody could escape from it. Again, I loved Anna Kendrick in Scott Pilgrim but these Pitch Perfect movies seem to be a compete opposite. I know for a fact this movie has a bigger budget than the first movie and also a new director. Hopefully this movie will have a bit more substance than the first one.
Flula Borg joins the podcast today to talk about starring in The Suicide Squad, working with Margot Robbie, cast night outs, giving workout advice to John Cena, starring in Pitch Perfect 2, working with Dirk Nowitzki and Kobe Bryant, being on a nude beach with Conan and so much more. He is the best.
This week Devin and Sarah rewatch the most successful musical romantic comedy of all time... Pitch Perfect 2. Surpass even School of Rock, this movie is a staple musical comedy. But does it ACTUALLY leap over the original? Was that ACTUALLY Barack Obama in the opening scene? Were the Green Bay Packers ACTUALLY singing (pro tip, they were). See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
This week, Drew Marshall (he/him) joins us to discuss the 2nd installment of the Pitch Perfect franchise. It's like Pitch Perfect, but even worse. How did Chumlee do Jim dirty? Did Party Guy #2 ruin Kai's acting career? What biblical impact did our guest have on Jim's childhood? "I may as well put my time to good use and discover a purpose in this festival of crap." - Drew Marshall Be sure to check out and follow Drew's improvised serial web series, Smoke Break @smokebreak on Facebook and @smokebreakimprov on Twitch. Inspired by Drew Gooden's youtube series of video essays, I made a podcast essay of sorts. I rewatched the Pitch Perfect movies, and I try and figure out why the third movie is the way it is. I also look at the virality of the original film. I promise it's more entertaining than the way I'm describing it. Support the show (http://www.venmo.com/merrcahoon)

This week Bob and Matt, along with comedian Kathy Carson, get to see an early sneak preview of the sequel somebody asked for PITCH PERFECT 2! Bob and Matt love the original movie, Kathy hated it, but now they all get to bathe in the shitty, acca-nfusion of this unhinged, mostly racist, nightmare sequel. All will be forgiven when Fat Amy GOES TO SPACE!TRAILER!
It may not be well, you know, perfect, but this harmonious sequel still sings.

This week Rhianna chats to Sarah Gadon about her film A Royal Night Out. There are also reviews of Pitch Perfect 2 with Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson and Mad Max: Fury Road starring Tom Hardy & Charlize Theron. Also Dev gets to speak with Elizabeth Banks.
On this episode PITCH PERFECT 2 inspires a look back at the previous film and we have a battle of the band films with SCHOOL OF ROCK. Not stopping at music competitions in film, we continue to team up to bash Marvel movies for their gender inequality, listen to Emily Mackay's Joan Cusack impression, and bring a little TRUE GRIT to the PITCH PERFECT mythology.
Acca-pocalypse It’s a lovely, lovely day for a drive, listeners. This week on Pop Culture Happy Hour, NPR Monkey See's Linda Holmes, Stephen Thompson, Glen Weldon, and Petra Mayer review the a cappella comedy Pitch Perfect 2. Then they'll dive into a summer movie preview, discussing the big ones, the less big ones, the ones we expect to love, the ones we kind of dread, and many, many sequels to come. All that, plus What's Making Us Happy.
This week Evan debates wearing a G-string while discussing MAGIC MIKE with Kris. Sadly, Dave has a last-minute change of plans and can’t make it, leaving Kris and Evan quite literally to their own devices. This leads to some slight audio issues (sorry if you hear a minor buzz at points), but the guys soldier on to talk about how holy-shit, fuckin’ amazing MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is before they explore the strange similarities between PITCH PERFECT 2 and THE WARRIORS. Finally, they end up randomly referencing Joe Piscopo in JOHNNY DANGEROUSLY.Once…just once.

‘Pitch Perfect 2′ is obviously a sequel to ”Pitch Perfect 1’ but even if you haven’t seen the first one, it won’t stop you from laughing out loud and enjoying every second of this one. Aca-mazing or a dis-aca-ppointment? Screen Thoughts was present at a special sneak preview (along with every teenage girl within a 100-mile radius). Tune in to hear the latest from the a cappella world. Directed by Elizabeth Banks; starring Rebel Wilson and two Oscar nominees: Anna Kendrick (“Up in the Air”) and Hailee Steinfeld (“True Grit”). Hollister & O’Toole are in harmony on some elements (the music! the cast!) but discord on others (body parts, anyone?). One thing is for sure: the Barden Bellas can sing! Podcast extras: clips from the trailer; “Wrecking Ball”; and the podcast concludes with Anna Kendrick’s hit song “Cups” from Pitch Perfect 1.
The Barden Bellas are back, and it’s aca-awkward as they fall from greatness after a mishap on live TV. Beca is about to graduate, so acapella isn’t her first priority, while Chloe just can’t let go. Still, there’s the world championships to win, against the finely tuned Teutonic magnificence of Das Sound Machine.
