Now in our post words we like to review a few things and try to jog your memory to highlight what hopefully will bless you and your spiritual growth. The key thing in this podcast were the fact that man have been cheated out of his kingdom here on Earth by Satan and continues to be cheated is the point; every time the enemy tells us a lie be it via public opinion through the media through a friend and worst of all through a church that don't adhere to the Word of God. We are continual cheated out of our kingdom Earth that God gave us at creation and bought back by the blood of Jesus. "God's saving grace & mercy is key." Case in point and is relevant to today is most churches are relying on law enforcement to curve the evil and violence in our world unfortunately you can't fight evil spirits with guns with fear you must meet them head on with the Word of God, and even the Lord himself said: "If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themself, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and forgive their sin, and will heal their land." (2Chronicles 7:14). Meaning I will stop the violence, the murders, the wars, the fires, the floods. I will heal their land! Content warning: Child loss and suicide  This episode is one of the most tender and important I've ever shared on this show, and I am just so deeply grateful to Amy Ortloff for having this conversation with me and letting me make it public.  In 2017, Amy Ortloff lost her middle child Ryan to suicide. Ryan was just 17 years old. Less than a week after his death, Amy took to her personal Facebook page and starting sharing every single day. She began by sharing stories about Ryan, family memories and examples of the kind of kid he was. She didn't want her child to be forgotten.  As the weeks went by, deep in grief, Amy also started sharing her own experiences of this devastating time she was living through. She shared what she was learning in therapy, she set and shared her personal boundaries for interaction for those in her small town Oklahoma community.  Amy's sharing was raw and vulnerable. It was heartbreaking and powerful. I made a point to read her posts every day that first year after Ryan.  This episode is about the effects of that real-time sharing during the hardest time of her life, the positive and the negative. Amy was teaching us how to grieve with her, and it made an enormous impact on me long before I ever wrote a book about sharing stuff.  If you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts, please contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 or text TALK to 741741.  Read Amy Ortloff's blog Keep Going Follow Amy Ortloff on Facebook here * Thank you for listening to 10 Things To Tell You. You don’t have to have a lot of people (really!) and you don’t have to have a perfectly articulated theme or objective. What you want to do is read, and then talk about what you read with someone else. It really is that simple. But beyond that, it’s nice to have some basics: Identify your WHY Choose members wisely Decide on some logistics (like how to choose a book, who leads the discussion) Set expectations early Have your first meeting Adjust as necessary Sure, there are some details that can be fun or tedious: choosing a schedule, consistent communication), but start with the fundamentals, keep it as simple as possible, and figure out what REALLY works for your group. This is always one of my favorite episodes of the year! My real life book club friends Yasmin Dunn and Stephanie Newman-Smith join me for a long and lively conversation about some of our favorite books of 2020. We talk about how the pandemic affected our reading life and why our book club didn’t meet for 7+ months. Before we share some of our favorites, we also use the episode as a bit of stand-in for our regular meeting and you can hear us discuss our December book club pick A Burning by Megha Majumdar. Then we each share 3 or 4 of our favorite books of the year. Because I had already shared most of mine on earlier episodes, I was really excited to hear Yasmin and Stephanie’s picks, since they were outside the box of what we’ve already talked about on the show in the last few months. That means I’ve had a bae since before I even knew what it meant to be in a “romantic” relationship! Honestly, having a serious relationship so young, combined with the fact that I was a teen parent left me in a place where I was always putting someone else’s needs before my own.  It resulted in low self-esteem, a strain on my marriage, and poor health. In 2018 I had an epiphany. I realized I needed to treat myself the way I treated my husband. I gave him the best of me to support him mentally, emotionally, spiritually, sexually and physically.  Mentally- I gave him the space to process his thoughts, determine his boundaries and encouraged him.Emotionally- I supported him in expressing his emotions and experiencing his feelings.Spiritually- I covered him in prayer and allowed him to find his way in his faith walk.Sexually- I always said “yes”. Always.Basic/Physically- I made sure there was food, took care of household chores, etc.  I want to encourage you to be your own bae. What does that look like?  Allowing yourself to have fun, feel your emotions, set boundariesPraying, worshipping and being fed spiritually according to the needs of your soul. Getting your sexual needs met.Taking care of your basic needs so you are at ease.  If you are interested in getting trained in God’s word with the intention to apply it to your day-to-day life on this journey. E36: It’s Time To Expand Your Vocabulary Click Here To Listen I taught HS Spanish for several years and I was very successful. Whenever we had a new unit I would introduce it with the topics they could expect to see during the unit. If you wanted to talk about household chores, for instance, then you could expect to talk about rooms, furniture, and actual chores. They couldn’t talk about chores without first acquiring the new vocabulary.  The same can be said about speaking life. When you think about a certain area of your life you need to acquire new vocabulary to change the way you speak.  Your words have power.  “The tongue has the power of life and earth, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21 There is power in your words. Whatever you speak will bear fruit. You will eat that fruit. Basically you create the life you will have to live with the words you say. Ask yourself what type of life do you want to live?  Decide which area of your life you want to start with like it’s a theme for a unit. Get your vocabulary list and expand your vocabulary through books, podcasts, communities, and Youtube channels. Intentionally study, practice active listening, learn new ways to communicatePractice, practice, practice.  Think about the last 30 days and any situations you were unhappy with. Did your words about that situation reflect the way you want things to be?  Here is a list of resources that have helped me to acquire new vocabulary over the years in different areas of my life. I’d love to hear from you! What resources have been helpful in helping you to expand your vocabulary?  I recommend The Courage Circle. I believe the word of God is the best source of new, life-giving, fruit-bearing vocabulary! I didn’t always trust it though, but I eventually learned to rely on it.  I realize now that we often lose our way in life because we are trying to do it on our own.  I don’t know where you are on this journey or where you are headed, BUT I know you need God to get you there. Forgiveness is step 1 of healing, a decision to let go of negative thoughts towards another, required by God.  Mark 11:25 NIV“And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father is heaven may forgive you your sins.” In addition to that, I want you to set forgiveness as your default for the sake of your purpose.  Immediately frees you to move on, to heal, to learn, to change. Allows you to get to the solution faster.Small things will no longer be distractions. You have a purpose and the resentment, pain, and bitterness will slow and hinder your progress.  I didn’t want to share this message, but it’s impossible to have the mind of Christ, word of wisdom and still operate like the world and have the same standards. It’s not easy.  I want to invite you to join The Courage Circle so that as a woman of faith you can grow closer to God through the study of his word, so you can learn how to apply biblical wisdom to your day-to-day life. The great Aaliyah once said "dust yourself off and try again". Now I am pretty sure when Aaliyah said this phrase in her song Try Again, she was likely talking about love and relationships. But even so, I think that she was spot on. This week I am talking about the art of trying. I reacquainted myself with the phrase "if at first you don't succeed try try again". I think as professional women of color, we are so wrapped up in public opinion and perception. We are afraid to try new things out of fear of being perceived as someone who is "all over the place", "wishy washy". There is a difference between being a hot mess and  being someone ins pursuit of greatness. Some of us came out of the womb knowing what we wanted to be in life. Purposed from birth. Others, such as myself, are still trying to figure out where we fit in. However, in order to figure it out, you have to try new things. You have to be open minded and you have to be ok with the F- word, FAILURE.  Failure is a part of life. No one likes it. I sure don't. In fact, I hate it. But it is part of the process. Tune in as I talk about the importance of trying and how "living up to standards" is ruining our lives.  *FREEda's World is available everywhere you enjoy your podcasts. Join the LBC Community On Facebook | Follow Carey on Facebook | Follow Carey on Twitter What could you do with an extra $500 per month? And before you answer you need to realize, it’s not about the money. It’s about what might happen if you start thinking outside your normal view of what’s “normal” in your finances. A hypothetical “extra $500 per month” enables us to think in terms of “what if” - in terms of what might be possible for you - to help you start dreaming about possibilities instead of being limited by what’s always been. Does that make sense? So I’m asking you again - on this episode - “What would an extra $500 per month do for you, for your family, for your ability to impact the world. And remember, it’s not about the money - because YOU are not about the money. You’re a Christ-follower, called to more than just the accumulation of money. You’re called to be a STEWARD of all that God gives you - and that INCLUDES money. Listen in to this episode to find out how to get outside of the penny-to-penny mindset and begin thinking in terms of possibilities. Outline of This Episode: WHY IT’S NOT ABOUT THE MONEY [0:40] Why we can aggressively build businesses to change the world. [1:21] What could you do with $500 extra dollars a month? [2:00] The variety of circumstances each of us are in. I don’t take this lightly. [4:43] Ideas to use $500 extra dollars to set yourself up for success. [6:30] What if you’re not in a penny pinching situation? [7:48] What could happen if you start thinking outside your normal limitations? [9:38] How you can connect with me. You’re called to something bigger than simply earning money or creating wealth. As a Christ-follower you’re a STEWARD. That’s an altogether different thing. Think of it this way, the King of the Universe (Jesus) has appointed you to be a steward over parts of His kingdom. He’s put a lot of things that are important to Him under your supervision - relationships, resources, responsibilities, tasks, even money. AS His steward, what are you going to DO with those things? Will you be the steward who tucks away your Master’s resources out of fear? You remember the parable Jesus told, right? The 3 stewards are given differing amounts of money and told to make use of it profitably until the Master returned. One of them was afraid, so he hid the money away to keep it from being lost. But he MISSED THE POINT of his Master’s instructions. It was NOT about the money, it was about his faithful stewardship of what the Master had given him. There’s a fundamental mindset shift there that can change the way you live, the way you handle the finances you’ve been given, and the sorts of things you consider to be possible through your stewardship of Jesus’ resources. Will you make the jump to a new kind of logic - a kingdom oriented mindset that’s full of possibility? I hope you’ll listen to this episode. This podcast and the website that hosts it is dedicated to helping you learn HOW to change your world through building a business that can fund the kind of change God puts on your heart. Yes, this is one of THOSE kinds of podcasts, one that talks about God - but not in the “you are god” or “god is what you imagine Him to be” ways. This podcast is carefully and clearly aimed at helping radically Christ-following people discern how God wants to use them to bring amazing changes to their world through building a small but growing business. Keep reading (and listening) to find out more about how the Live Build Change podcast is aimed at doing that. Outline of This Episode: Change the world through a small but growing business. Really, take a couple of minutes to think about what it practically, honestly takes to see significant changes happen in the world. It’s not just about big things, world-wide things - it’s about individual people whose lives are changed in significant ways. When you think of it like that it seems a ton more possible to be or become a world-changer. And as a Christ-follower you have a leg up on everyone else - because you have the Holy Spirit of God in you to help you do that changing. Here’s how I’m looking to make you into a world changer. Well, it’s not ME who’s going to make you into a person who changes the world, it’s God Himself - but I believe He’s going to use my experience, the things He’s done in my life, to encourage, equip, and position you so that you can actually become a person who He uses to change the world. This is the ZERO EPISODE - the one where I tell you what this podcast is about and what you can expect to hear on it in the future. I ask you to give me at least one chance, one opportunity right now to speak into your earbuds, to share the vision and dream God has given me for how we can band together to change the world - through authentic lives of faith - through small but growing business - by generously funding causes, campaigns, and benevolent gifts that change people one at a time. It’s time for another episode of The Amazing Seller podcast and this session in particular is an “Ask Scott” episode where Scott Voelker answers your questions week after week. It’s an opportunity for you to get your specific problems addressed by a guy who’s been studying and doing Amazon private label sales for quite a while, now. If you want to have your question answered on one of these episodes, you need to listen so you can find out how to do it! You’ve mentioned not trying to sell supplements as a first product. But I currently have a business selling supplements online and want to get onto Amazon. What should I do? Scott has addressed the sale of vitamin or health supplements before and he’s never recommended that a person who’s never done private labeling start out with supplements. Why? Because it’s one of the most crowded markets on Amazon and will cost you tons of money to get yourself recognized and ranking for keywords. But this listener already has a supplement business, so Scott takes a bit of a different approach to that. Listen in to this episode to see how Scott would go about it. What are the different “levels” or “types” of private labeling? One of Scott’s listeners is curious how to think about private labeling in terms of the different “levels” of involvement that private label sellers may be involved at. There appears to be a “full blown” level that includes branding your own products, getting custom packaging, etc. but there’s also the level that buys products from a site like www.Aliexpress.com and resells them without doing any kind of branding at all. Scott gives a great overview of the different ways it’s possible to do a private label business, so be sure you listen. Amazon support advised me to delete my listing. I’m a bit hesitant. What should I do? A listener has his product listed on Amazon’s brand registry but due to a little bit of missing information he’s being advised by Amazon seller support that he should delete his listing, create another one for the same product, and include the missing information on that listing. He’s hesitant to delete a long-standing product listing and asks Scott’s advice. Scott has plenty to say about this one and is NOT sure the guy should do what he’s been told. Do you know why? You can hear Scott’s reasons on this episode. I’m trying to dial-in my PPC campaigns and am not sure I’m doing it correctly. Can you help? One of Scott’s listeners is doing a great job analyzing and optimizing her PPC campaigns week to week, but she doesn’t feel she’s getting everything out of it. In order to respond to this question, Scott asks his buddy Chris Schaeffer to come on the show to give his insight because Chris is an expert at PPC. He’s got a few incredibly insightful tips regarding how she should go about getting her PPC to work better, on this episode of The Amazing Seller. Welcome to this episode of the Ask Scott version of the Amazing Seller Podcast. This is where you can get your Amazon private label questions answered by Scott Voelker, an experienced Amazon seller. He’s had all kinds of successes and failures from which he is able to draw answers to the questions that come his way each week. If you’d like to submit a question for Scott to answer about your private label efforts on Amazon, you can submit your question by going to www.TheAmazingSeller.com/ask - and let Scott know what you’re having trouble with.   My manufacturer asked me a strange question about “shipping marks.”   A listener to the podcast was working with her supplier to get the products shipped and the supplier asked her what “shipping marks” she could supply for the packaging. She’s not sure what that really means so she turned to Scott to get his input. You’re going to be surprised at the simple advice Scott has for this listener and how easy it might be for her to get this issue resolved, so be sure you listen to this episode in case you ever run into this issue with your supplier.   Amazon assigns products their own barcode, so why do I need a UPC number for each product?   The issue of UPCs and Amazon assigned barcodes can be one of the most confusing things for new private label sellers. Why do you need a UPC if Amazon assigns its own? The simple answer is that Amazon requires you to have a unique UPC code for each of your products before you’re able to create a listing for the product on the Amazon platform. So you’ve got to do it. Period. Beyond that, Amazon does use its own barcode for internal and sales purposes. You can hear why this is the case and how it impacts your product selection and bundling of products on this episode.   I understand why it’s important for me to capture my customer’s emails, but I’m not sure how to do it.   Once you have people buying your products on Amazon you want to create a way to capture their email address. Why? So that you can market to them the next time you have a new or related product to sell. Those people who have already purchased from you are most likely to buy your new product. But how do you get those emails? What’s the best system to follow in order to make it easy, and to do it within Amazon’s terms of service? Scott’s got an in depth answer for you on this episode of The Amazing Seller.   I’m ready to decide on my first product. Should I select a product that has variations like size, color, or style?   There are so many options when it comes to selling products on Amazon through private label sales. How do you go about picking the right one with the right features. A listener to the podcast asks Scott if she should steer clear of products that have variations like size and color - and Scott recommends that she DOES steer clear of them for her first product. Do you know why he’d say that? You can find out on this episode of The Amazing Seller podcast.   OUTLINE OF THIS EPISODE OF THE AMAZING SELLER   [0:03] Scott’s introduction to this episode of the podcast!
