Featured in leading publications like CEO Magazine and Luxury Lifestyle Magazine, Kevin Loeffler (they/themme) is the Founder and CEO of Finally Kevin!, an inspirational Gender Identity speaker, and author of the upcoming book, "Finally Kevin” (Spring 2025). Kevin's unique journey allows audiences of all generations to understand what gender identity is and, just as importantly, what it is not. Kevin empowers parents and community leaders, regardless of age or background, with the knowledge necessary to increase authentic allyship skills for their gender-diverse loved ones. For almost 50 years, Kevin lived as the person they thought their parents, wives, children, and employers wanted them to be, never daring to be their authentic selves in front of any of them. Their heartwarming story of choosing to live as their transparent self by announcing their gender identity to the world at the age of 63 has landed them numerous media and speaking opportunities. I was introduced to Kevin by friend of the SMA and past guest of the show, Elena Joy Thurston. While Kevin and I recorded this episode a few months ago, I saved it to release during Pride Month because it feels like the perfect closing to this special month. Happy Pride to all our LGBTQIA+ community members. We love you and want you to be 100% you 100% of the time. Listen in to hear Kevin share: How Kevin became Finally Kevin! and what their transformation as a non-binary person has looked like What led them to start to live their femme tendencies out loud after 50 years The interconnectedness between shame and addiction in Kevin's life The difference between gender identity and sexual orientation The beauty and power of being able to finally “get out of bed free” What life feels like to finally be Kevin after 50 years of stifling Kevin How LinkedIn became the safe place for Kevin to begin to own their identity publicly Links mentioned: Kevin's Programs and Resources: Finallykevin.com Kevin on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kevinmloeffler Kevin on FB: https://www.facebook.com/kmloeffler/ We love the sponsors that make this show possible! Kamala is in the Philippines greeting fishermen when our southern border is in a full blown crisis! Over 1-million ‘gotaways' roaming the USA now. Kevin, a Perry and Shawna Mornings listener, was angry, frustrated. His family was feeling the weight of his anger. Finally Kevin realized why he was acting out in such destructive ways—it was guilt eating him alive. So he wrote down every sin he ever committed, that he could think of, even went to many of the people he wronged, and Jesus freed him from the guilt. With this we talk about when it might not be best to go to the person we've wronged. Then Robert, another Perry and Shawna Mornings listener shares how Jesus found him—He grew up not knowing about Jesus. He graduated from college, launched his career, pursued pleasure in relationships and was left feeling empty. In desperation he went to a Catholic priest and what the priest shared with him changed his life forever. And now thirty years into Robert's journey, he's launching a new website Life Giving Verses. LGV features fifty bible verses that simply and powerfully share what the bible's all about—being in a relationship with the God who loves you! Whether you're a saint, skeptic, seeker, or spiritual but not religious, LGV is all about inspiring you to move forward in your friendship with God. Check it out! In today’s episode of Escrow Out Loud, our San Francisco Real Estate podcast we welcome back a guest who has been featured in publications such as Gentry Home and recognized for his talents with an award from the American Society of Interior Designers – Kevin Sawyers of Sawyers Design. (For past conversations with Kevin and his husband Pete see episodes 41, 42, and 43)[00:57] To warm him up, we start off with a lightning round of questions. Our chat starts with the first home he bought, how he found his realtor and whether or not he continued using that same realtor over the years. Then we move on to San Francisco and his favorite buildings and places in the city.[06:12] What about outdoor spaces? Kevin shares his favorite places in San Francisco and why he loves them.[08:41] If Kevin could change one thing – one real estate law in San Francisco – what would that be? He believes the bigger picture should be considered when considering the aesthetics and making city planning decisions. People with relevant backgrounds should be more heavily involved in this sort of decision making, as opposed to it being dictated by public officials.Kevin also explains how even remodeling a single family home requires a lot of patience and money.[12:11] We switch focus to interior design and Kevin explains how his own firm, Sawyers Design, came to life. With years of experience behind him since his first project, ten years ago, how has the world of interior design and Kevin’s own process changed over the years?[14:50] Because we love to share stories of the unexpected and the strange from our own world of real estate, we had to ask Kevin to share his own! We also had to know, what is “the psychology of interior design”?[18:56] Texture or color?[20:38] If you are thinking of hiring an interior designer, an important question Kevin recommends asking them is, how they manage time and money. It is also good to know how much you want to spend beforehand and give the designer a budget to work to. But how do we go about discussing budget?[24:48] Finally Kevin leaves us with some closing thoughts on design. To see more of Sawyers Design, check out their recently updated website: sawyersdesign.com.Thank you for listening.
