Gabe Baker is a former teacher and education researcher, who took the leap into immersive tech. He made Frame, a platform that makes it easy to communicate, collaborate, and create in 3D environments directly in the web browser, mobile and even VR headsets. The platform grew hosting hundreds of events and teams from Janssen, Microsoft, Trello and MIT. But recently he announced it is time for a radical change: Frame is evolving for the new AI era. In this interview, Gabe shared with me his honest feelings and tough learnings from the perspective of a real founder and gave down-to-earth answers to some very tricky questions: With Mozilla Hubs, Altspace and Glue shutting down is there still a need for XR meeting and collaboration apps like Frame? How is Apple and VisionPro approaching the web space? How are big organizations using these 3D collaborative spaces What is the vision of AI supporting collaboration and productivity in 3D spaces Subscribe to XR AI Spotlight weekly newsletter

I recently had the opportunity to interview Gabe Baker, a multi-talented person who I have known since his Freshman year at Rice University where he participated in a leadership development program that I led for student athletes. While Gabe has many talents and pursuits, he currently is a musician in Nashville and a multi-instrumental part of the band that travels with the musical duo For King and Country. This interview is a part of our series on the Monday Morning Moments podcast about "living life on purpose for a purpose." While it is a longer form episode than we typically do on the the podcast, there is so much perspective and insight in this conversation that I pray blesses and inspires you to keep pursuing your purpose and making your life count for what matters most! And I love Gabe's quote about what his purpose is: "an honest expression of stepping into the fullness of who God has created me to be" Ways to Connect with Gabe Baker: Web Site Instagram Facebook Spotify New Episodes of the Monday Morning Moments Podcast are released every Monday on your favorite podcast platforms as well as on YouTube. Today we broke the horrible streak of zero podcasts since February due to the prodding of my good friend and guest on the Podcast, Children’s Ministry guru, Gabe Baker. We cover a LOT of...
This episode is a little off brand for us, but we couldn't pass the opportunity to record it and pass it along to our listeners! Spence and Frawley jump on the mics with Tom Bennett, former commissioner for the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife, and Gabe Baker, West Tennessee's Regional Director for Ducks Unlimited. It may not seem like it, but these two men have a very profound connection. During his time as commissioner, Tom oversaw the capture, relocation, and release of wild, free-range elk from several western states back into the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. Gabe's father, Tom Baker, was the chairman for the Kentucky chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation at the same time. Both of these gentlemen give us first hand accounts and perspectives from Kentucky's Elk Restoration Project. If you enjoy the Rolling Thunder Podcast, share it with a friend, leave a rating, and write a review! We'll catch ya on the next one.
SVP, Director of Creative Development, HarperCollins Publishers HarperCollins.com A guru of nonfiction book publishing, Lisa Sharkey, who agrees that she is indeed "a shark," has worked for over sixteen years at one of the largest publishing houses in North America, chasing stories that have to be told. In her earlier life she was a talented and successful producer of TV news shows with a journalist's veracity. Since taking the plunge into book publishing-- she considers herself a hybrid editor/publisher-- she has helped to create multiple best selling books, and many have also received critical acclaim. Her list is gold. Michelle Zeitlin, HOST of Passion to Power, also a talent and literary manager and the CEO of MORE ZAP Productions & Management, asked Lisa several questions about her journey and her role. Listen to this interview if you've ever wanted to write a book, if you have ever considered writing nonfiction, and if you've ever wondered about the acquisitional process. Also, if you're going to spend months typing and maybe years writing that book, says Sharkey, make sure you're also building your platform. People have to know you to find out about your book. Make yourself known on social media, and build your audience. Sharkey is also writing a children's book about an owl and there will be more on that soon.. She also recommended a few children's books to the kid division of her publishing company. Lisa finds stories and develops books on all contemporary subjects, from spiritual and political books, to lifestyle trends in diet, sex and finance. "I see this position as a tremendous opportunity to blend my two passions- books and entertainment." (HarperCollins press release) In addition to her very busy life in New York, Lisa teaches college classes and is a guest speaker. She practices yoga and loves to spend time with her kids. P.S. When Lisa Sharkey says "it's coming out today!" She is referring to a book by Amanda Kloots, and that was actually in early April, 2023. Thanks to our More Zap team for producing another wonderfully informative and entertaining episode. Immers Space implements the ActivityPub open standard in order to add a federated social graph to the open Metaverse. I had a chance to try a prototype back in December 2022 where I went from a modified Mozilla Hubs WebXR space (that had the Immers Space open source tools integrated into it) into a FrameVR.io WebXR space by clicking on a persistent interface tracking my connected friends. Just as many virtual worlds allow you join in your friends, this method starts to add a distributed social graph to the open web and therefore the open Metaverse using the ActivityPub standard... I had a chance to unpack it all with William Murphy, who is part of the Immers Space worker cooperative and social.coop Mastodon instance run on the principles of Platform Cooperativism as well as Gabe Baker, who is the Project Manager for the FrameVR.io team working on a browser-based 3D and communication platform. Many of the most compelling social VR experiences and communities are still locked behind walled gardens, but this is one of the more robust efforts to start to build some of the required foundations to have a distributed social graph across the open Metaverse.

To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket – safe, dark, motionless, airless – it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. The alternative to tragedy, or at least to the risk of tragedy, is damnation.”Connect with Aaron on Instagram, Fiver and be sure to check out his band, Seryn: Thank you for listening! KBZE'S Neal McClelland followed the Hanson Tigers to Delcambre on Monday, Dec 13, to watch their match against the Panthers there. He spoke with Coach Tommy Schexnayder, along with Tiger Eugene Foulcard Jr., after the game. (Photo at right: Eugene Foulcard Jr. (in blue), on a Delcambre block) Below is Neal's recap of the game. DELCAMBRE, LA. - Gabe Baker scored 10 of his 16 points in the first half as Hanson slowly but surely used a strong inside game to build up and then pull away from Delcambre Monday night in a battle of former district and long time rivals in a non-district contest by a 41-32 score. Riley Rodriguez added 10 points and Jacob Daniel also had 10 points for the Tigers, who improved to 6-4 overall. "It's a big win for us," Hanson coach Tommy Schexnayder said, "Hanson and Delcambre have a long history and tradition. "I thought our kids battled through a lot of adversity tonight and showed a great effort. We did a better job defending the Delcambre kids tonight that we had in the two previous games "I was real pleased with how the kids stayed with the system and kept chipping and chipping and before you knew it, we had a decent lead and were able to hang on." Hanson held leads of 8-4 at the end of the first quarter and 18-14 at halftime before extending the lead to 32-21 by the end of the third quarter and cruised home with the win. Jaxon Wiggins led Delcambre with 14 points as the Panthers fell to 1-8 on the season. Quotes: 15:28 “My music journey now means so much more to me because I really do feel so inspired to do it…” 20:20 “I guess my musical expression was like picking on my guitar in my dorm room at nights and helping lead some worship at church. So, it was still there. I'm singing all the time in the shower, and all around, and having fun with that, because you never stop being a musician.” 31:33 “The song was made, it was really inspired by, just this whole new season of emotions and feelings and situations that I was going through and found myself in. It was just a very simple, simple, concept, a simple expression of where I felt I was like, “Yep, I'm flipped upside down.”” 44:16 “Don't be afraid of passionately pursuing what's on your heart. That's a huge thing. There's definitely a lot of fear and anxiety, because of the risk that whatever that means to follow what purpose you feel called to pursue, what passion you have to develop, but you're never wrong pursuing the passions that God's put on your heart.” 46:35 “The enjoyment of pursuing any dream is the process of getting there. So, I think the more you really, really, love growth, love practicing, the more you're going to enjoy the journey.” Timestamps: 02:50 Introducing Gabe Baker 05:09 How was Gabe's transition to Nashville? 06:33 Gabe shares the loss of his mom 08:43 Listen to “Mother” by Gabe Baker 12:25 How did Gabe start playing the cello? 14:03 Is your family all still doing music 19:29 Did Gabe have to make a choice between music and football? 22:13 When did Gabe start songwriting? 26:04 Who are Gabe's musical influences and the artists that he listened to? 27:07 Listen to “Upside Down” by Gabe Baker 30:31 The story behind the title and the song “Upside Down” 36:02 How did Gabe feel when he started going to church? 38:07 Where does Gabe see himself going in the next five years? 40:52 For Gabe, what is his best representation live? 43:41 Some pearls of wisdom from Gabe Baker to the younger singer, songwriter, artists, musicians who are listening to the show 47:39 Listen to “Ride On” by James Kevin O'Connor Spotify Playlist: We're about to start our third Spotify playlist, but while waiting, you can check our Orion and Aquila playlists that consist of eclectic music from the talented artists who have been on the dHarmic Evolution.
