We're talking about the ever-illusive, abstract Oneness - what it is, why it's essential for understanding ourselves and reality, how to experience it and ourselves as manifestations of oneness in our everyday lives. We begin looking at our modern context and the role of conscious living and oneness as an essential part of our evolution from where we find ourselves today. (01:42) We break down ‘what is oneness'? (6:26) and why begin with our suffering to experience oneness and its role in our development as a fully actualized human (10:36). From there we must eliminate all that antagonizes our experience and embodiment of oneness (19:37). We get into those practices that empower our experience of oneness and ourselves as oneness (33:46), with an interim to touch on “food of the gods” (51:36). We end with which RE SELF resources can offer support as you begin to intentionally practice experiencing oneness (1:07:14). In the most ambitious crossover since the Fraggles met the Muppets, this week we have a special joint episode with moral psychologist https://twitter.com/peez?lang=en (David Pizzaro) and famed philosopher and ghost detective, Tamler Sommers. Also known as the hosts of a small academic podcast Very Bad Wizards. Stealing the format of their show we have a culture war heavy intro section featuring discussion of Joe Rogan censorship, covid debates, Japanese maid cafes, and the great ghost debate of 2022. Following that we move on to an in-depth round-table discussion of the 2012 Paul Thomas Anderson movie 'The Master'. The movie explores the relationship between a wastrel and a cult leader and features performances by Joacquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Amy Adams. There is no denying it's an acting masterclass (and thematically relevant for the show!) but is it any good? Join us and help us as we attempt to decode with the wizards. The Kids Of The Boys Of Comedy™ join Shane and Ramin for the first team episode! Matt McCool (real last name) is the amazing editor of both Mind Under Matter and Here We Are. If you follow us on Instagram or watch on YT or Spotify, you've gotten to see all the fun things that the best editor in podcasting adds to MUM. What you would never know is all the little stuff that goes into making quality audio and video that no one would ever notice unless he stopped doing it. Rhianna ‘The Hippie Witch' Andrews (real hippie witch) has worked with Shane since his Good Trip Tour in 2016. She has since had to wear SOOOOO MANY HATS. She has run social media, been a publicist, booked guests, managed tours, been an agent and manager, done endless administrative assistant tasks, a web designer, a straight jacket designer, and way too many other things to list. Now she's the MUM Mom. Ramin and Shane generally keep Matt and Rhianna chained in a dungeon, subsiding off their own recycled urine, so we thought it was time we make this hostage video so everyone knows they are still alive. Generally, our monthly bonus episodes are only available on Patreon but after recording, we realized that we want everyone to meet The KBC™. So we decided to make this one public so you could get a free taste of some of the fun, experimental shows typically exclusive to our super fans. Salivating for more? It's hard to take comedian, adventurer and science enthusiast Shane Mauss seriously as he proclaims he tries to work as little as possible when he sits down with Tom after hosting the Meet Delic two-day wellness event and in between producing and hosting two podcasts: Here We Are and Mind Under Matter. Speculate on his work ethic as you will, but be certain Shane pulls no punches in this interview as he dives into time travel, dissociative disorders, the evolution of his career and mental health since the release of his documentary Psychonautics: A Comic's Exploration of Psychedelics, and the merits, or lack thereof, of microdosing. Shane flexes the depth of his scientific knowledge and natural skepticism in a healthy and complex discussion of psychedelics, cognitive bias, creativity and apathy. With such a healthy balance of skepticism and surrender, Shane's interview was separated into two parts to give justice to his refreshing candor and insight into mental health. Shane Mauss been a stand-up comedian since 2004 and touring full-time since 2007. He has been interviewing scientists each week since 2014 for the Here We Are Podcast. In 2019 He released the documentary Psychonautics. In 2021 Shane joined artist Ramin Nazer to form Mind Under Matter. .. "Our ability to be able to research things from other animals points of view... is such a great way to pop out of ourselves a bit and see things a little more objectively and bring out that alien anthropologist point of view. It´s something scientists do well, comedians do well and psychedelics do well..."Shane Mauss is a comedian, podcaster, science and psychedelic enthusiast and modern day explorer of human nature. I´ve followed Shane´s wide-ranging corpus of material for some years now and was so happy to finally get the opportunity to talk on the podcast. Naturally, the discussion was a light-hearted probe into the strangeness and beauty of science and human experience, alongside ways to be serious about not getting too caught up in what we´ve decided reality looks like. Shane is well known known for his vivid and humorous tales of the psychedelic realm - which we talk about in terms of nuance, rather than dogmatism - as well as ideas for handling what we´re presented with in daily life. Comics have a special way of communicating important ideas to wider audiences. Science included. Something mainstream media, politics, academia and much of pop-culture simply cannot do so well at all. If you´re at all fed up with being told how to do things this way or that and simply want to listen to someone who as explored a LOT of territory, you´ll dig this episode. It was one of our favourites so far. Do check out Shane´s Here We Are Podcast as well as his new one with Ramin Nazer Mind Under Matter and his movie Psychonautics. Following the interview, DJ & I continue on with some thoughts and ideas that came to mind so be sure to stick it out to the end! For those interested in joining the next Emptiness Project retreat (hopefully later in 2021 and/or 2022 in the US, Peru & Europe) please make sure to follow us and join our mailing list for the latest news. Enjoy the episode and make sure to follow us on IG for updates on new projects. On this very special episode Bob welcomes Shane Mauss to the show. Shane is a Standup Comedian, Host of the "Here We Are" Podcast and Documentary Film Maker. While Bob would categorize him as a highly motivated person from an outside perspective, Shane shares with us how he controls the chaos and balances it with his mental health. We talk about how COVID has affected our world and discuss how we are adapting to the new normal. Through it all, Shane talks about ways that he decides how to spend his time and energy and how he plans to bring his unique comedy and point of view to the world. Shane Mauss does the first ever solo episode of the Here We Are Podcast to celebrate episode number 300. For the first time he discusses what this podcast truly means in terms of the greater picture. Hear how this former factory worker who never had an interest in school deviated from a traditional stand up comedy career to peek behind the scenes of science and academia. Hear why a quest to understand life and to answer the biggest questions about existence and consciousness has him talking with researchers in fields he didn't even know existed. Come to understand that no matter how seemingly inconsequential a specific topic might seem at first glance, Shane views every single topic as a relentless exploration to understand the very nature of reality. Thank you for watching and being an inquisitive being.

How has pressing pause on humanity given us a new look at climate change? Is this a fire drill for worse things to come? Is this a chance to help our ecosystem or a threat to the regulations protecting it? Who thought of this idea of the carbon footprint in the first place? What would create a bigger impact, change at an individual level or at a policy level? Admittedly, I don’t talk about climate science nearly enough on the show. So atmospheric scientist Katherine Hayhoe was like water in the desertification. So enlightening and important. This week’s guest is comedian Shane Mauss, whose psychedelic standup A Good Trip blew minds at over 100 tour stops last year, and whose documentary film Psychonautics takes us on Shane’s adventures in psychedelic therapies. He also hosts the Here We Are Podcast, where he interviews scientists of all stripes and mines their research for standup inspiration…Shane’s always been a rigorous thinker, a legitimate and respectable skeptic, which made his inquiries into the weird realms of psychedelia so interesting to me. He started tripping to self-medicate for his lifelong depression a few years ago but hisHe and I disagreed for years about the nature and validity of the phenomenon known as “synchronicity” – that everything is linked behind the scenes, no coincidences – but this summer he texted me to tell me he’d had a revelatory experience and that I was right all along. The next thing I heard from him, he was on Duncan Trussell Family Hour Podcast talking about how he had just gotten out of a mental institution. So WHAT EXACTLY was I right about, again?? We go deep in this episode about the nature of reality and madness in this warm and funny conversation (in which he shared what he actually saw that put him in the psych ward)…http://shanemauss.com http://herewearepodcast.com TOPICS- How the universe is wearing stripes and plaid (just like in some of Alex Grey’s art).- What’s behind that crazy look in someone’s eyes.- Simulation theory vs. the brain’s innate virtual reality.- What people are really seeing when people say they see God.- A bunch of awesome trip reports from Shane.- Shane getting courted as a clinical subject for new extended-state DMT trials.- Time as a multidimensional landscape of rhyming moments- Marshall McLuhan’s “invisible environment” as it relates to memory as a mutable substance, altered every time it’s accessed.- Evolving through the layers of the multiverse from animal to human and beyond.- The Evolution of God and how we’re all participating in the new empathy of a deity that does not have it figured out.- A new kind of psychedelic science.- Princeton Engineering Anomalies Lab and the possibility that the so-called future is actually present and accessible via longer wavelengths.- and a bunch more… QUOTES“I found out years ago that I can just gobble up some mushrooms two or three times a week for a few weeks, and that’ll get rid of my depression for a few months or so…I started thinking, ‘What if instead of just getting rid of my depression, I could actually feel GOOD?’”“The DMT world feels very ‘top down,’ very ‘creator’ type of thing…”“Sobriety is not really a thing that works, even though I've got to do it for now…”“Why try to envision Jesus doing something – why try to have a dream where you’re seeing Jesus and talking to Jesus, when it’s just in your head? Just BE Jesus!”“A lot of this stuff gets pretty far away from the scientific method, you know?” See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
I talk to stand up comedian Shane Mauss about psychedelics, comedy, DMT, ketamine, mushrooms and go down a very deep existential rabbit hole into an alien dimension. Shane Mauss, a self-described ‘psychonaut’ and advocate for psychedelic studies and rights, has been using psychedelics to gain a deeper understanding of the mind for the last 20 years, and credit them as the source of some of the most hilarious, thought-provoking, and well-received material of his career. He’s created this one-of-a-kind show for the open-minded, insightful, inquisitive, curious weirdos among us, in order to both destigmatize and demystify psychedelics in a fun way. Recorded live from Psychedelic Science '17! This is a dual podcast swap with The MAPS Podcast and features Shane Mauss, Lex Pelger and Berra Yazar-Klosinski. It was recorded live as a panel format and took place at the very tail end of the Psychedelic Science conference in Oakland, CA. Because it was the end of the conference we collectively reminisced and riffed in a loose, funny and free conversational feel about where psychedelic research is headed. We also spoke of our culture outside of our own echo chamber and how the rest of America is keeping up. I was so honored that these guys spent some time with me on stage and it took a lot for me to keep up with their brilliance and accomplishments. The intro was recorded live in India about two hours after the one-two punch of darshan at Kaishi-Vishwanath and the burning ghats of Varanasi. If you don't know what that means have a listen then book a plane flight. Enjoy! Shane Mauss is a comedian and the host of the Here We Are Podcast Lex Pelger is the Captain and Chief Genius over at Pymposia.org Berra Yazar-Klosinksi is the Chief Research Scientist at MAPS
We had the clever, hilarious April Macie (@aprilmacie, Jenny McCarthy's Dirty Sexy Funny, Howard Stern's Funniest and Hottest Comedian Winner) and the funny wits of Shane Mauss (@shanecomedy, Here We Are Podcast, Comedy Central) on the Golden Girls podcast! It was the episode where Dorothy tries to eat the forbidden holy fruit... The fruit of a priest! We talked about enlarged clitorises, weed wacking pubes and gay funerals in New Orleans. Music by Mike Dennison (@mikd33) and Brian Kokernak (@kokernutz). Full disclosure: Anthony's mic was not recording during the podcast so his voice sounds a little worked on. Thanks guys!
May the Fourth be with you! The Sith hits the fan on today's show as comedian Shane Mauss (Mating Season, Here We Are Podcast) joins the guys to talk about what Razzle is really like as a roommate, pigeon racing, Star Wars silliness, and high-speed forklift driving.
