Today on the Invest In Her podcast, host Catherine Gray talks with Allison Byers, a founder, investor, and capital access advocate dedicated to creating a more inclusive funding ecosystem. She is the founder of Scroobious, a relationship-first capital access platform, and the author of Fundraising for The Rest of Us. Allison also co-authored California's landmark Fair Investment Practices by Venture Capital Companies Law and serves on multiple boards. Prior to her work in venture advocacy, she co-founded a medtech company spun out of MIT, raising nearly $10 million and bringing an FDA-registered product to market—an experience that ultimately revealed the deep systemic inequities in funding that shaped her mission today.  In this episode, Allison shares her firsthand experience navigating the venture capital landscape and the pivotal moment that exposed the disparities founders face—when the all-male team that acquired her company went on to raise significantly more capital. She and Catherine dive into the structural barriers that prevent underestimated founders from accessing funding, and how Allison is actively working to dismantle those barriers through policy, education, and community-building. The conversation highlights the importance of relationship-driven capital, transparency in fundraising, and empowering founders with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed. This episode is both an eye-opening look at the realities of venture funding and a practical guide for building a more equitable path forward.   https://www.showherthemoneymovie.com www.sheangelinvestors.com    Follow Us On Social Facebook @sheangelinvestors Twitter (X) @sheangelsinvest Instagram @sheangelinvestors & @catherinegray_investinher LinkedIn @catherinelgray & @sheangels   #InvestInHer #FinancialWellness #WomenInFinance #FinancialEmpowerment #MoneyMindset #InclusiveFinance #FintechForGood #BehavioralEconomics #WealthBuilding #FinancialHealth #EmpowerWomen #MoneyMatters #SheAngelInvestors #InvestInYourself #FinancialFreedom

Millie Gooch is the founder of Sober Girl Society, author of The Sober Girl Society Handbook, and one of the loudest voices in the UK sober community for women in their twenties. But four years ago she was a blackout drinker. She didn't drink at all until 18, then went to uni, took three bar jobs, got paid in alcohol, and came out the other side a four-or-five-night-a-week binge drinker. PR and journalism after that. Free Bar Fridays. Ending up in Dover at 4am because she'd fallen asleep on the train. Three weeks in Thailand spent almost entirely drunk or hungover. A six-year relationship breakup at 24 that sent her head-first into another year of going out and getting hammered. She read a Stylist magazine interview with Catherine Gray on the tube one hungover morning. Took a photo of the article. Did nothing about it. Then in February 2018, after a night she couldn't remember at all, she downloaded the audiobook and listened to it for eight straight hours on the worst hangover of her life. That was her last drink. In this episode she walks through how Sober Girl Society started by accident, the trap of becoming "the sober person" instead of just a person, and what changes between year one and year four.If you enjoy One For The Road, then click follow to be notified of the release of our next episode. You can also access further content and shows on my Patreon account by clicking the link below.https://www.patreon.com/user?u=62824759&fan_landing=trueIf you want to connect with me via Instagram, you can find me on the instahandle @Soberdave https://www.instagram.com/soberdave/or via my website https://davidwilsoncoaching.com/Provided below are links for services offering additional help and advice, and links for Millie.Instagram.com/sobergirlsocietyInstagram.com/milliegoochhttps://www.amazon.co.uk/Sober-Girl-Society-Handbook-empowering/dp/1787634124/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1636881084&sr=8-1https://www.wearewithyou.org.uk/https://www.drinkaware.co.uk/advice/alcohol-support-serviceshttps://nacoa.org.uk/https://alcoholchange.org.uk/Show producer- Daniella Attanasiohttps://www.grownuphustle.com/Instagram - @daniellattanasio Hosted on Acast. Vic had to properly brace herself for this one… sitting down with Catherine Gray, Sunday Times bestselling author of The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober. This is the book that completely changed the course of Vic's sobriety. The one that, for the first time, made an alcohol-free life feel exciting rather than something to endure. So yes… she tried not to gush. No promises. As expected, Vic and Catherine had plenty to share. Catherine's latest book Little Addictions dives into all the little things we lean on, the scrolling, the snacking, the busy distractions, the habits that don't look like a problem… but might quietly be running the show. From favourite reality TV to chewing gum habits and even watching traffic on the M25, nothing is off limits.Together they unpack what “little addictions” really are, and why, as sober people, we might find it easier to quit the big things… but struggle to moderate the small ones.Confused? Don't worry, it all makes sense. And if you fancy listening to two grown, sober women who have both been arrested in the past… you're in luck. (Brixton 1, Brighton 1)No shame here, but lots of laughs and honesty!

Today on the Invest In Her Podcast, host Catherine Gray interviews Nomiki Petrolla, a product leader and tech founder on a mission to close the access gap for women in technology and entrepreneurship. With more than 15 years of experience leading product, design, and strategy across healthcare, fintech, artificial intelligence, and enterprise SaaS, Nomiki has built and scaled products in some of the most male-dominated sectors of tech. She is the founder of PDS Lab, an accelerator launched to help women build and launch tech companies from the ground up, and the creator of Theanna, a data-networking platform designed to bring transparency, insight, and connection to the female founder journey. Based in Ohio and a mother of four, Nomiki is also an active mentor, educator, and speaker, working with organizations such as Techstars and speaking at institutions including Harvard. In this conversation, Catherine and Nomiki explore the structural barriers women face in tech entrepreneurship and why access to product knowledge, data, and networks remains one of the biggest challenges for women founders. Nomiki shares what she observed firsthand while advising startups—how women are often excluded from critical early-stage information—and how that insight led to building platforms that democratize knowledge and connection. The discussion also dives into the importance of community, the role of data in leveling the playing field, and what investors, accelerators, and ecosystems must do differently to support women-led innovation at scale. This episode is a powerful look at how intentional infrastructure and transparency can transform outcomes for women founders—and the future of tech as a whole.
