Ask Berlin's network of revered deep diggers who their favourite "DJ's DJ" is, and there's a strong chance you'll hear one name immediately pop up: KRN. Phil Kearney, AKA KRN, is one of those rare types who has built a reputation away from the limelight. Formerly a resident at The Ghost's Hoppetosse party as well as a Get Perlonized devotee (plus, full disclosure, reviewing events and working at RA in the mid-2010s), he's well-versed in both wiggle and waft. The hubbub around KRN can be put down to the fastidiousness of his approach: he unearths rare gems from the roots of the underground, before mixing it up with a deft hand. Kearney's RA Podcast, sweetly subtitled "Dadhouse," is an ode to his partner and newborn, as well as a window into his personal palette. He starts in serene IDM territory, before shifting into playful grooves and tactile house oddities. Good lucking ID'ing many of the tunes—we asked for a tracklist but, deep down, already knew the answer. We know this, too: one listen and you'll be hooked. @k_rn @theghost Read more at ra.co/podcast/951

Episode 54 of AIR is here, and welcomes DJs, producers, and founders of the @Slow-Life collective, @laurine_sl and @cecilio-sl, to celebrate their label's 10 years of existence. Comprised of a core crew featuring Laurine, Cecilio, S Moreira, and Indi Zone, Slow Life are defined by their thoughtful, easygoing approach to everything from music and parties to life itself. They have quickly carved out a niche for themselves through their artist showcases and record label; while Laurine and Cecilio have likewise worked tirelessly to explore careers as DJs and artists in their own right. Recently back from a South American tour that took them to a dozen cities across a handful of countries, they're back in Berlin and looking forward to bringing that inspiration to Hoppetosse, where Slow Life will celebrate its 10 year anniversary on Saturday 26 March. In this conversation, we look back at Slow Life's 10 years, the collaboration at the heart of their collective, and the philosophies about life and music that drive Laurine and Cecilio as artists. Electronic music specialist Andrea Cichecki is an artist inspired by sound. Born in the Netherlands with Polish roots, Andrea has had a lifelong fascination with emotion, human connection and how these intertwine with music and sound. Her atmospheric music can be described as a dreamful sound collage, lifting us away into a flow of emotions. The musical intent is built on a landscape that sweeps from intense joy to melancholic emotion, a cinematic journey of life and memories. Andrea's main inspiration is the inner peace found through connection with nature. For over two decades, Andrea performs as a DJ across Europe. For seven years, she lived in Berlin where she was integral to the electronic music scene and a regular DJ playing in renowned clubs such as Club der Visionaere, Hoppetosse, Tresor and About Blank. After successful releases of her own music, she knew it was time to follow her dreams. Achieving a diploma for her studies in ‘Music Production & Sound Engineering' at the Abbey Road Institute helped her enrich her sound, expand her creative mind and build on her professionalism. These days Andrea is in high demand as a music producer and audio engineer: composing, mixing, mastering as well as working at Castle Studios in the countryside, just outside Dresden. https://soundcloud.com/andrea-cichecki https://www.andreacichecki.com https://linktr.ee/AndreaCichecki See Also: 200.1 - https://soundcloud.com/avenue-red/podcast-200-1-volar 200.0 - https://soundcloud.com/avenue-red/podcast-200-0-estimulo

Having got her start DJing in the 1990s, Vera moved to Berlin where she has become a fixture at Hoppetosse and CDV, clubs which are also home to @MelliflowRecords — the event series and label she founded in 2016 with fellow DJ Alexandra. Was? VERDAMMT! Ach, denkt Euch einfach Picards Motivationsrede am Ende. Viel Spaß.

Dreamcast 55 “Reminiscing” is coming from our close friend Whoann (MinorPlanet / Formas). After listening to his experimental sets at Hoppetosse and Waha Festival, we asked him for a recording. Please close your eyes and enjoy!
Recorded during the last ReSolute party at Hoppetosse. Enjoy Originally from Toulouse, Lamache’s career started at a young age within the industry. Inspired by artists who, back then, and still today keep the underground electronic music scene thriving, he has quickly progressed amongst the ranks proving himself as a talented and versatile DJ. Moving first to Paris to study electronic music culture and sound engineering, the exposure to a wealth of new and unique sounds and environments led him to make the natural migration to London, the melting pot of music, artists and culture. Formerly a member of Toi Toi Musik collective, an established and admired party and label amongst music heavy weights that is based in London, his newest project has led him to Berlin where his focus remains on growing his potential in the studio and concentrating on developing his label. Two years young the record label has gone from strength to strength successfully hosting showcases across Europe as well as representing a talented group of artists from Odd Soul, Zendid, Alex & Digby and Robin Ordell.
Tom Ellis uniquely sophisticated set was a big highlight for us at this past weekends @sol-asylum-records anniversary party in Hoppetosse so we are more than happy to present this podcast made with all of his own productions for our mix series 007. A core member and resident of the Freerotation Festival, Tom Ellis has been releasing funk & jazz inspired house & techno since 2003, when he launched Trimsound, his first label, which was co-run with Leif. His vast discography includes over 40 EPs and 7 albums that pop up on some of the world's most respected underground labels. His early appearances on Mindtours and Trimsound led to worldwide recognition and further releases and remixes for Archipel, Good Ratio Music, Classic, Philpot, Moon Harbour, Leap, Telegraph, Logistic, Black Key Records, Eye4Eye, Floppy Funk, Morris Audio, Flumo, Supremus Records, Hartchef Discos, Minibar, Highgrade, Klamauk, and Som Bom (the electronic spin-off label run by fellow Welsh men, Super Furry Animals) and many, many more. Forever steering into the weirder side of things, he tries to anchor himself with his experience as a self-taught musician. Playing drums, bass, keys and guitar from an early age has given him a good foundation from which to understand and explore electronic music with the groove, soul and funk of a real musician. 2016 has seen the launch of his new solo label, In Modo Di, with the first record landing high in the bestseller charts, and the launch of his new monthly radio show on KMAH radio, The Taunton Loft Sessions. Sit back and enjoy this wonderful piece of joy created by the man himself. www.residentadvisor.net/dj/tomellis www.facebook.com/tomellismusic

Leiris is a French DJ and Producer, based now in Berlin that has been on our radar for quite a long time so we were thrilled to finally have him at the last Sol Asylum event at Hoppetosse. Over the past years, he has acquired an envious record collection and his dedication to perfecting his skills has made him one of the most sought-after artists on the scene. We hope you enjoy this impressive mix that he delivered for our Sol Asylum mix series as much as we did. In the 90's he first fell in love with minimal house and techno. His main influences were Robert Hood, Daniel Bell,Melchior and Jeff Mills whom he played twice with during the Purpose Maker Tour. These influences can be heard in his dj sets which are known to be groovy, unexpected and full of musical treasures. From a sunny open-air to a night club peak time all the way to the after party, Leiris knows how to catch the crowd's attention thanks to his on point selection and continuous great energy. He plays regularly at Club der Visionaere and had gigs in other classic venues such as Tresor and Katerholzig. He also performed at several festivals including Sonar OFF and ADE this last fall. He released a remix of Spencer Parker on Apt. International in 2012 and an Ep "Procrastination Ep" on Minibar music with his beloved friend Ben Vedren in 2014. His last releases were launched on Ruis Records "Ethnicity" and on the Rooted Series in May 2016.
