1. Week 5 Takeaways -Me: Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Kyler Murray, Justin Herbert, Dak Prescott and Tom Brady all making very strong cases to be 2021 NFL MVP -Mark: Lamar Jackson's performance on Monday night, Browns/Chargers game, Bills statement win over Chiefs 2. The big story in the NFL this week comes out of Las Vegas as Jon Gruden resigned as head coach of the Raiders after numerous emails of him making racist, misogynistic and homophobic slurs were uncovered by the New York Times. Although it is refreshing to see Gruden gone, the prevailing sentiment is that this is just the tip of the iceberg as many powerful decision makers around the NFL harbor such attitudes. How can we as fans, reporters, et al continue to hold the league accountable and force them to reveal and expel more of these bad apples? 3. This Or That -Who is a more legitimate Super Bowl contender: Cowboys or Cardinals? -Which head coach is more likely to get fired at season's end: Urban Meyer or Vic Fangio? -Who is more likely to grow into a franchise QB: Daniel Jones or Jalen Hurts? -Which defensive rookie has been more impressive: Micah Parsons or Odafe Oweh? 4. Chargers at Ravens Preview -How has Lamar Jackson taken that big next step forward as a passer so far this season? -Last week against the Browns, the Chargers defense was absolutely GASHED on the ground for 230 yards. And in Baltimore's past two games, both the Broncos and Colts sold out to stop the run, and Lamar obviously made them pay through the air. What would you anticipate Brandon Staley doing differently on Sunday in order to at least contain this seemingly unstoppable Ravens offense? -Key matchups and picks 5. Cardinals at Browns Preview -How has Kyler Murray grown as a passer so far this season? -Did the 49ers provide a basic blueprint on how to stop or significantly slow down Kyler and the high-powered Cardinals passing attack last week? If so, how do you expect the Browns to replicate it this week? -Key matchups and picks 6. Picks for all other Week 6 Games -Bucs at Eagles -Dolphins at Jaguars -Texans at Colts -Packers at Bears -Bengals at Lions -Vikings at Panthers -Chiefs at Washington -Rams at Giants -Raiders at Broncos -Cowboys at Patriots -Seahawks at Steelers -Bills at Titans 7. Bold Predictions -Mark: Tom Brady throws three TD passes despite his injured thumb -DKrom: Justin Herbert throws for 500 yards and scores six total TD (4 passing, 2 running) 8. Challenge Flags -DKrom: Sam Darnold, lead your team to a win!!!! -Mark: Chiefs defense step up!!!!
Sean and Tim break down each and every game from Week 1 to uncover risers and fallers on the salary cap market. Cowboys @ Buccaneers (3:16) Eagles @ Falcons (9:55) Steelers @ Bills (14:10) Vikings @ Bengals (20:06) 49ers @ Lions (24:52) Cardinals @ Titans (30:43) Bears @ Rams (34:38) Seahawks @ Colts (39:21) Broncos @ Giants (43:00) Chargers @ WFT (47:08) Jets @ Panthers (52:16) Packers @ Saints (55:55) Jaguars @ Texans (1:01:44) Browns @ Chiefs (1:05:15) Dolphins @ Patriots (1:07:39) Ravens @ Raiders (1:12:14) Join the conversation on The STEAL Pod Facebook group!
1. Week 1 Takeaways -Me: The Chargers proved they aren't the same old Chargers -Hal: LOTS of surprises 2. Truth or Exaggeration -All four NFC West teams will make the playoffs -Justin Herbert and Matthew Stafford will be among the top three finalists for 2021 NFL MVP honors -Kyler Murray has already proven himself to be a legit NFL franchise QB -Urban Meyer will only last one season as Jaguars head coach -It's time to talk about the Atlanta Falcons as a serious candidate to have the #1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft -The Philadelphia Eagles will be serious contenders for a Wild Card playoff spot this season -Even though they didn't come away with a win, the way the Browns played the Chiefs last week bodes EXTREMELY well for their chances in a potential playoff rematch at Arrowhead, especially when the weather will likely benefit their physical brand of football more -The Tennessee Titans offense will be one of the NFL's biggest disappointments in 2021 3. This Or That -Who had the more impressive defensive performance in Week 1: Steelers or Cardinals? -Who is the best bet to be the main RB for the 49ers going forward: Trey Sermon or Elijah Mitchell? -Which head coach has the hotter seat: Mike Zimmer or Matt Nagy? -Who was the more impressive QB in Week 1: Dak Prescott or Derek Carr? 4. Cowboys at Chargers Preview 5. Chiefs at Ravens Preview 6. Picks for all other Week 2 Games -Giants at Washington -49ers at Eagles -Rams at Colts -Broncos at Jaguars -Texans at Browns -Raiders at Steelers -Bengals at Bears -Saints at Panthers -Patriots at Jets -Bills at Dolphins -Vikings at Cardinals -Falcons at Buccaneers -Titans at Seahawks -Lions at Packers 7. Bold Predictions -Hal: A.J. Brown goes off for 10 receptions, 200 yards, and 4 TD -DKrom: Aaron Rodgers roars back with a vengeance against the Lions on Monday night and throws an NFL record 8 TD passes in one game 8. Challenge Flags -DKrom: Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace, if you want to increase the odds of keeping your jobs, START JUSTIN FIELDS NOW!!!! -Hal: Mike Vrabel and Titans D…SHOW US WHAT YOU'VE GOT!!

Beller and KC kick off your NFL kickoff weekend with their favorite bets of the weekend. The guys both have a side, total and prop they're backing, laying out the case for each of them on this episode of Best on the Board. KC explains why he thinks we see fireworks in Jaguars-Texans; a strong rushing game from Kareem Hunt; and the 49ers roll in Detroit. Beller, meanwhile, details why he's all over the Broncos laying three points against the Giants, Aaron Jones showing off his receiving chops, and the Cardinals and Titans to play to script on offense in Nashville. With the official release of the NFL schedule on Wednesday evening, John Daigle, Pat Daugherty, Denny Carter and Matt Stroup go game-by-game with a way-too-early look at what to expect from Week 1 of the 2021 season. Ranking each game 1-16, we hit many of the high points, including Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs with a point to prove against the Browns, and Dak Prescott in a tough opener against Tom Brady and the Bucs. We also dive into the uglier spots on the Week 1 slate, with Giants-Broncos and Jaguars-Texans among them. Also on this episode: massive question marks at quarterback when the Saints and Packers face off (Aaron Rodgers or Jordan Love? Jameis Winston or Taysom Hill?), and a potentially brutal Raiders team gets a scary Week 1 draw in John Harbaugh, Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.
Phil Smith and James Johnson are back with their postgame analysis of the Jaguars 30-14 loss to the Houston Texans. As with every week, we will take a look at the box score & hand out our game balls. Tune in, as we get a fans perspective on each of the teams in the AFC South; The Jaguars, Texans, Colts and Titans! With thanks to Charlie from London and Shaji of the Wrestling Hooligans Podcast in Jacksonville (The Jaguars), season tickets holders in The Bullpen section Chris, Andjula, and Avan (The Texans), die hard supporter Ernest (The Colts), and our first Welsh representative Kris (The Titans), we get a fan perspective on arguable the most intriguing, and wide open division in the NFL! As hosts we have given a lot of stick to Bill O'Brien, but what do Chris, Andjula and Avan feel about The Texans, their new running back David Johnson, and their new looking wide receiver corp? How do Jags fans Charlie and Shaji feel about the current situation at The Jags after trading away a few star players, but accumulating a fair amount of draft capital in the process? What are Ernest's thoughts on The Colts trading away their pick #13 to bring in DeForest Bucknor - is he the missing piece on that Defence? How does Kris feel about the signings of Tannenhill and Henry to new contracts - without much change, can they once again put on a season to reach The Superbowl? Listen in for all this and more! After a brief absence, @chuckgregory35 and @robbusolo are back together for another exciting podcast. After Rob’s solaces about rooting for bad franchises (Sacramento Kings having a less than stellar start to season), they discuss the DUD that was the NFL Trade Deadline today. Teams stood pat and didn’t make decisive moves that may have helped their future, such as the Chargers not moving on from Melvin Gordon. The gents hope to build on recent successful weeks in gambling and make their Week 9 NFL predictions, including vehement disagreement on the Chargers-Packers and Jaguars-Texans matchups. The pod ends with brief commentary on the Padres new manager and World Series predictions before Game 6 begins. 1. Week 5 Takeaways Me: -The NFL may not be the passing league many think it is. Per Rick Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News, in Week 5, there were nine 300-yard passers and nine 100-yard rushers. The combined record of those passers last week? 4-5. The combined record of those runners? 8-1. Yes, passing is still king in the modern NFL, but running the ball is no less essential than it was in 1991. Just ask the 49ers, Colts, and Raiders who are off to excellent starts in large part due to their ground games. Hal: 10 games where we had teams within one score in the 4th quarter!!!!! 2. Truth/Exaggeration -The Raiders will finish 2019 with a better record than the Chargers -Vontaze Burfict should never play another down in the NFL -Freddie Kitchens and Adam Gase are more likely than not to be one and done head coaches barring dramatic improvement from their teams -Russell Wilson is now tied with (or even ahead of) Patrick Mahomes in the race for 2019 NFL MVP -The AFC North is the worst division in the NFL right now -The Cowboys should fire Jason Garrett and hire Lincoln Riley (who has his eyes on the Cowboy HC position) if they fail to reach the NFC Championship game 3. GAME OF THE WEEK: 49ers at Rams -Should the 49ers be willing to air it out more than the Seahawks did last week? -Does Aaron Donald need to have his best game of the 2019 season in order for the Rams to get back on track with a win on Sunday? -Game deciding matchups: Aaron Donald vs. George Kittle in run game, Nick Bosa and DeForest Buckner vs. Rams iOL -Game Predictions 4. Fantasy Football: Cut or Keep? -Baker Mayfield -David Montgomery -Miles Sanders -Sammy Watkins -O.J. Howard 5. Waiver Wire: Gem or Garbage? -Chase Edmonds -Byron Pringle -Auden Tate -Gerald Everett 6. Game Predictions -Giants at Patriots -Panthers at Buccaneers -Saints at Jaguars -Texans at Chiefs -Seahawks at Browns -Bengals at Ravens -Redskins at Dolphins -Eagles at Vikings -Falcons at Cardinals -Titans at Broncos -Cowboys at Jets -Steelers at Chargers -Lions at Packers 7. BOLD PREDICTIONS ME: Cody Parkey wins the game for the Titans on a 60+ yard FG in overtime HAL: Saints take late 21-20 lead….but Minshew gets Jacksonville into FG range and Jags win 23-21 8. Challenge Flags ME: 49ers. Make an even bigger statement on Sunday and shut the remaining doubters up. Stay true to who you are. Pound the ball and harass Jared Goff. HAL: Bills. Keep carrying this team Bills D!!!!! Make it a battle for the AFC East in December!
We begin by recapping the Jaguars/Texans game and the Jalen Ramsey situation in Jacksonville. A recap of the Saints/Rams game leading into our Topic of the Day which is the QB position.
