It was another light weekend in big time boxing, but we do have a card to discuss. Plus, hear from a prominent boxing play by play broadcaster and the guys also go over the horrible news of not one, but two Japanese fighters off the same early August card dying after their fights. It's all on the "Fight Freaks Unite Recap Podcast."Host T.J. Rives is back with insider Dan Rafael of his Fight Freaks Unite Substack and newsletter to go over it all.Dan has the recap of the Friday card in Benghazi, LibyaFeatherweight Mirco Cuello big KO2 of Sergio Rios Jimenez and wins (don't laugh) the vacant WBA interim title. Also, light heavyweight Albert Ramirez scored an impressive TKO of Jerome Pampellone, and also wins a vacant WBA interim title. And, a large upset as lightweight Francisco Fonseca decisioned Sofiane Oumiha on this card.Next, hear a portion of our Youtube live show with DAZN's Todd Grisham.  Grisham talks the recent Oscar Duarte and Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez wins in broadcasts he's done, as we play a portion of the show. Then, some NewsHoriibly, two Japanese fighters both suffered fatal brain injuries on the same August 2nd Teiken Promotions card in Tokyo – junior lightweight Shigetoshi Kotari died on Friday after fighting to a draw in the 12-round main event and lightweight Hiromasa Urakawa died on Saturday following an eighth-round KO loss in an eight-rounder. It's awful and Dan explains more about how neither fight seemed to be leading to such a tragic ending. Also, the Japanese Boxing Committee will now look to shorten some regional title fights out of safety concerns.Next, lineal/unified light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol will be sidelined for the rest of the year after undergoing back surgery in his hometown of Saint Petersburg, Russia, on Friday. We have more, including does this maybe mean that Artur Beterbiev and David Benavidez might fight each other, if they both win on the November Riyadh Season Card in Saudi Arabia? Not unexpectedly, WBC/IBF bantamweight champion Junto Nakatani announced he will vacate his titles and move up junior featherweight, putting him in Naoya Inoue's division for a possible all-Japan mega fight in the spring. And, after Sky Sports declined to renew its broadcast deal with Boxxer Promotions, one of the United Kingdom's leading promoters, it has struck a deal with the BBC, which has not shown boxing in 21 years. Dan goes over it all. It's all on the "Fight Freaks Unite Recap Podcast" and make sure to follow/subscribe on Apple/Spreaker/Spotify, etc.!

In this show, Lukie and Dakota talk about a loaded week of boxing. We start with Manny Pacquiao-Mario Barrios. What do we think? Should it happen again? Then, Sebastian Fundora stopped Tim Tszyu. What is next for both? Seems like a role reversal in a year and a half. We round out the card talking about Issac Cruz, Brandon Figueroa-Joet Gonzalez, and Gary Russell Jr.Then, Oleksandr Usyk. We get into a debate that might make historians mad. We think Usyk ranks amongst the greats like Ali and Louis? Do you? This weekend, he stopped Daniel Dubois again.Dakota will sum up the undercard. Finally, we recap Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez's win over Phumelele Cafu. Rodriguez is becoming one of the best fighters in the sport. Our thoughts. Plus, Diego Pacheco defeats Trevor McCumby. What did we think? Then, this week's preview. Thursday Golden Boy will have a card on DAZN and their YouTube page, headlined by Manuel Flores vs. Jorge Chavez, which is a solid bout for hardcore fight fans. OTX Boxing has a card on Friday, we briefly go over. Then on Saturday, the good stuff. On ESPN, Xander Zayas will face Jorge Garcia Perez for the vacant WBO junior middleweight title. Other good bouts on this card include the return of Bruce Carrington, Rohan Polanco against tough veteran Quinton Randall, Yan Santana taking on Aaron Alameda, and Steven Navarro facing Cristopher Rios, who just upset Daniel "Chucky" Barrera. On DAZN, Claressa Shields will face Lani Daniels in a women's heavyweight undisputed bout, Tony Harrison, who recently signed with Salita Promotions, will make his middleweight debut, plus Samantha Worthington vs. Victoire Piteau, a heavyweight up-and-comer who Dakota recently filmed with Pryce Taylor, and Caroline Veyre, who Lukie is high on.Timestamps0:00 intro2:00 Pacquiao-Barrios13:30 Fundora-Tsyzu II21:00 undecard26:10 Usyk, ATG36:30 undercard38:00 Bam Rodriguez41:10 Undercard46:00 golden boy & otx50:30 Xander Zayas returns52:30 undercard54:20 Claressa Shields-Lani Daniels01:00:00 undercard

This week we had A LOT of fights.  A historic all-women's card took place with Katie Taylor defeating Amanda Serrano for a third time. We talk about the fight, the impact the trilogy had on women's boxing, as well as the undercard with notable standouts being Ellie Scotney and Shadasia Green. Then, it is off to a four-fight card in New York, where Hamzah Sheeraz stopped Edgar Berlanga in five rounds. How good is Sheeraz? Was Berlanga overhyped? We discuss. Also, Shakur Stevenson defeated William Zepeda, Subriel Matias became a champion again defeating Alberto Puello, and David Morrell barely edged a close one with Imam Khataev. Lukie was at the ProBox TV card and shared his experience, which had a good main event in which Francisco Veron defeated Vladimir Hernandez. We have another busy week of fights for the summer coming up.On Friday, DAZN features heavyweight Gurgen Hovhannisyan-Chris Thomas, 10 rounds, and Angel Barrientes is the co-feature. Yokasta Valle defends her title in Costa Rica on Friday.  First, Oleksandr Usyk-Daniel Dubois II. The card is fine, but I will say it isn't as star-studded as some of the recent offers on pay-per-view.Also, on pay-per-view, Mario Barrios puts his WBC welterweight title on the line against Manny Pacquiao. The co-feature is Sebastian Fundora-Tim Tszyu II. Also on the card, Isaac Cruz-Angel Fierro II, and Brandon Figueroa-Joet Gonzalez. Rounding out the week of action, Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez faces Phumelele Cafu in a junior bantamweight unification. Diego Pacheco-Trevor McCumby is a super middleweight co-feature with Austin Williams-Etinosa Oliha, and a great fight between Arturo Cardenas-Dominique Crowder rounding out the card 0:00 intro 0:40 Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano III10:45 Shadasia Green beats Savannah Marshall16:20 Alycia Baumgardner wins23:00 Ellie Scotney 28:49 rest of undercard34:00 Sheeraz stops Berlanga46:50 Shakur beats Zepeda54:00 Subriel Matias beats Puello56:50 David Morrell wins59:00 Usyk-Dubois II 01:06:00 undercard 01:08:30 Mario Barrios-Manny Pacquiao01:14:00 undercard01:22:00 Bam Rodriguez card & undercard

Jesse Bam Rodriguez is the best boxer that most of you don't know. The casual boxing fan tends to ignore the smaller fighters. But Jesse Rodriguez is one you have to hop on now! Last night on DAZN, he dominated Sunny Edwards with a ninth round RTD that unified his reign at flyweight. Now the next challenge may be back at his higher weight class against Junto Nakatani. Jesse Rodriguez put his WBO belt on the line to Sunny Edwards' IBF title. Rodriguez put him away in round nine. The fight was a masterpiece of Rodriguez winning, having trouble with Sunny Edwards switching to southpaw, and working that out to give him nowhere to run. At the end of the day, Jesse Rodriguez remained undefeated and could be eyeing a move back up to super flyweight.
